Seeing the reaction his bad attitude had just inspired in his subordinate made Jean feel uneasy. "Sorry Fuery."

Fuery shook his head slightly. "I-it's not your fault...It must be hard, right?"

"That's one hell of an understatement." Jean forced a nervous smile. "It's killing me..."

[Princess Noshwash]

Fuery smiled sympathetically. "You're doing really well though. It'll be worth it in the end."

"Really well? I've only been at it for one day. For it to be of any use I'll have to keep this up for months!"

"But you've made a good start! It's like reading the first chapter of a book you know is going to be great at the end!"

"But reading books isn't painful." Jean countered, holding his head in his hands and clenching his teeth.

Fuery smiled defeatedly. "That's true...but even so..."

"I don't suppose you know where I could get some painkillers, right now, do you?"

The Master Sergeant shook his head slightly. "i don't, sorry, sir..."

"Urgh, right." Jean lowered his hands and leant his head on the wall, debating with himself as to whether he should give in or not.

Fuery watched his superior battle against some inner turmoil wordlessly, thinking it best not to upset him.

"Urgh, I don't know what to do..." Jean concluded aloud, shaking his head slightly.

"Well I'm sure you'll choose what's best for you, sir," the bespectacled man smiled optimistically.
