And I don't want the world to S E E me

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Humming to herself, Hayden didn't notice someone was standing outside the door until she heard a nock. Peeking through the crack, her breath caught in her throat when she saw Josh looking back, inquisitive expression on his face. Glad to be in the dark for once, her red face hidden, she opened the door and Josh sat on the counter across from her. He stared at his shoes, uncomfortable, before sighing and stepping back out to retrieve a frapp and a coke, which he handed to her. "So...Why're you hiding out in the bathroom?" Hayden flushed a darker shade of red, realizing how lame she was being, hiding out and all. Not looking him in the eye, she answered, "Well...there's a...you know...a mood in there, between Sam and Matt. I felt like an extremely annoying third wheel. Plus, it was almost sickening listening to them flirt. I had to escape," she said, giggling to herself on the last part. She popped open her drink but didn't sip any, copying Josh by staring down at her shoes instead. Still chuckling to herself, she continued, "And unless you've got a stomach for those kinds of things, you're trapped here, too." She smiled widely, liking the idea of being stuck somewhere with Josh. It gave her an excuse to be near him longer.

Hayden's coke fizzed, filling the comfortable silence that had fallen between them. The quiet made Hayden nervous, but she liked it. She could've swore that every time she glanced up to sneak a peek at Josh that Josh had done the same, and whenever their eyes met she felt as if she got an electric shock. The comfortable silence grew tense with each glance up at him, and after a few moments she couldn't stand it. Not knowing what to say, she just spat out the first thing on her mind. "So...You're on tour across Canada, right? That's huge..." Shut. Up. You sound like an idiot!

-X- Josh laughed and ran his fingers through his hair. ”A mood? There’s always a mood when Matt’s in the room, be it an angry, emotional, or romantic one, there’s always a mood. I’m the only one who can deal with it, which is why me and him always share rooms on tour and at home and stuff” Josh shrugged lightly, smiling at Hayden. Josh laughed again as she continued, and played with the sleeve of his sweater. ”As much as I’d love to watch Matt flirt up a storm, hanging out with you in the dark bathroom sounds a little bit more enjoyable… However, I feel bad for your friend… Josh muttered quietly at the end, then looked away from his sweater at Hayden.

-X- Josh took a long sip from his frappuccino, and sighed as pain filled his head, from the coldness of the drink. Josh then stared at his shoes, enjoying the silence more then he usually would have, only looking up at Hayden every once and a while, blushing every time their eyes met. Finally, Hayden spoke again, and Josh looked up at her, only to look back down at his drink as he answered her. ”Yeah… It is pretty huge. I kind of miss home. Although I love the traveling, and the shows and stuff… I also like just being able to chill… To just be Josh for a bit.” Josh said, sighing as he spoke. Then he chuckled under his breath, and looked up at Hayden. ”Kind of like right now.” Josh said, looking back at his drink, beginning to stir it, so that his words could sink in. Then he laughed and rubbed his eyes. ”Sorry that was… A really stupid thing to say… But honestly? I do feel like… You’re the only person out side of the band, that doesn’t just… Fall all over me… Or talk to me because you think you can get something out of me. I may be wrong, but you actually listen to me… You actually seem to care” Josh said quietly, taking another long drink from his frappuccino once he finished talking, hoping Hayden wouldn’t think he was stupid.

{{s**t once again. Sorry}}

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Hayden didn't laugh at Josh's Matt comment, but she turned and looked out of the crack in the door toward the far room, worry swept over her for her friend. She turned away before Josh could see, though, and gave a small chuckle. She listened as he told her how he missed home, sadness coloring his tone. She wanted to comfort him in some way, but she didn't know how, so she sat listening, sharing his sadness. Then Josh laughed suddenly, and rubbed his eyes. He said she was the only person outside the band he could talk to honestly, that even seemed to care. Hayden was about to protest. She knew there definetely were others who cared about him, he was such a wonderful person. She couldn't see how it would be her that he connected with, there was just no way. But Josh also thought she was different, that she talked to him because she cared and not because she had ulterior motives, that she wasn't 'head over heels' for him. Hayden's already frowning face plummeted.

But Hayden wasn't like that! She did care about him, she wanted to be around him because he was Josh, not Josh Ramsey. She didn't have ulterior motives, either. But why? Why did she feel guilty? Like she was tricking him? Then it hit her. Did she have ulterior motives for being around Josh? No. Was she different from the others who'd approached him? Yes. Did she actually care about him? Yes. Was she head over heels? No...well, not yet. Hayden sighed and looked up at Josh, almost reading the loneliness there, and knew she couldn't deny she felt something for him. But now she could never tell him, even if it was just a small crush. He'd be disgusted and reject her, leaving her with only "I thought you were different," before turning and walking away. Now, Hayden didn't have much experience with relationships, because of her normally quiet nature, but she knew she wouldn't take that well. She bit her lip and looked down again, depressed.

She kept her head down as she replied. "I do care, Josh. I truly do. You know, before you're a famous band member, you're a human and a person. Trust me, if any girl got to know you even a little bit, she'd fall over you whether you were in a band or not." Looking for something to keep her mouth shut, she finally took a sip of her coke, wiping her mouth with her sleeve.

-X- Josh frowned when he saw sadness on Hayden's face. "Hey um. Don't worry about your friend. He may be a master flirt, but he'd never do anything to hurt anyone. He's a really nice guy. And I think he may actually like your friend. Or he could, if he spent more time with her." Josh said, smiling as he thought about his friend. Matt often just hooked up on tour, and had never had a real girlfriend in a long time. Josh sighed, thinking about how amazing it would be if Matt started dating Sam, so that Josh would have an excuse to see Hayden. He took another sip of his frapp, and smiled at Hayden once she finished speaking.

-X- "That's what I've been trying to get at..." He said, looking at the floor. "When interviewers ask me 'Don't you like being known as Josh Ramsay, or Marianas Trench? Don't you like your fame?' I always feel like... punching them. I do care about my fame. I do.. I love being in the band, and I'm proud to be in the band... I just wish people treated me like a person, instead of using me for benefits." Josh mumbled sadly. He sighed, and decided that he really could trust Hayden, so he launched into a story from right when they got famous. "When we first got signed, this girl, whose brother was always recording at the same time as us, would always talk to the band. After a while she figured out that no one else was really responding to her, so she began getting closer to me... She would always flirt with me, and she finally told me she liked me after about two weeks of just me and her hanging out. So I thought 'why not?' and asked her out. We dated for about... A month... And then I found out that she was using me... She denied it, but she would always cling onto me whenever we went out, and she refused to just stay in... I felt so... Stupid" he said sadly, suddenly feeling that want for someone who understood him, once more. He wanted someone like Hayden. Or maybe he actually wanted Hayden. He definitely was starting to like her, but he wasn't sure he wanted to lose the one person that listened to him because of something like that...

And I don't want the world to S E E me

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Hayden looked up at Josh, astonished by his story. How could someone do something like that? And to him! Josh was possibly the kindest and sweetest person she knew. "...Josh, you weren't stupid. No one would've known that girl was like that. And normally people aren't like that. D'you want to know a secret? From the outside looking in? People fawn over stars because they're lonely and crave attention. They honestly think that celebrities can give them what they want, they think 'Hey, they did it for themselves, so they can do it for me, too." I don't think that girl wanted to hurt you, she just didn't think about anyone but herself," she said, a tiny small forming on her lips.

She sighed before continuing,"Something like that happened to me, too. Actually, it's what started my, um...silence-in-public thing. I only became like that recently, not that you would know. I can't keep my mouth shut near you," she said nervously. "In my freshman year, I had the hugest crush on Tyler Jadde. He was a smart, athletic, funny guy, and he had every girl wrapped around his finger, including me. I didn't follow him around like a groupie, but I did kinda stare at him during gym. Well, Sam spurred my on to ask him out, and when I did he actually agreed. He said he was actually going to ask me to the dance, too. I was so psyched, I spent the whole of the next month of fixing myself up for the dance. I bought a new dress, got a haircut, Sam taught me how to dance, the whole nine yards. Well, we went to the dance like planned, and I thought it was a-mazing...But then Tyler took me to this crazy after-party. There where drinks, and Tyler and his buddies got drunk.

They weren't lucid, but Tyler spilled the real reason why he actually took me to the dance. He said to me, 'Cuz yuhh look like you'd beh sweet en bed.' I was so shocked, he just told me right-out that he took me out to get in my pants,"
she said, sighing at the memory. "People thought I was over-reacting, but I didn't speak to anyone at school for the rest of the year. I totally ignored everyone, becase I was terrified that if I got too close to someone, they'd try and take advantage of me like Tyler. I've gotten over it now, but I was quiet for so long its more of a habit to stay quiet." Hayden closed her eyes, she'd never told anyone that story, not even her dad. Sam had to explain it to him. She stood up and patted Josh's shoulder comfortingly, knowing that they'd reached a silent understanding. They knew they could trust each other now.

-X- Josh listened in complete silence, only waiting until she was done before he spoke. "It was more then just selfishness. She wanted popularity, and she wanted fame. I wasn't even famous then, but she still clung onto me like Velcro, because she knew I would be famous some day." He said sadly, and quietly. Then he thought back to Hayden's story, and suddenly felt angry. "What an idiot. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. High school boys give themselves such bad reputations..." he said, not even knowing what to say, that could possibly make up for what that idiot had done to Hayden. Then Josh smirked and slid off the counter. "Does he still go to your school? If so... Is school still in?" He asked. Once she said yes, he grabbed her hand and directed her through the bus. "Show me the way... I want to have a discussion with this 'Tyler' fellow" Josh said, continuing to pull her down the street, hoping she wouldn't try to stop him.

-X- Once they got to the school, Josh walked to the office, ignoring squeals as people saw him, and the looks of jealousy people were giving Hayden when they saw her with him. He walked up to the desk and smiled sweetly. "May I please know what class Tyler uh... Jadde is in?" He asked in his politest voice. The receptionist smiled, and began looking up his schedule. Josh turned and smiled at Hayden as they waited to her to tell them where to go, then Josh took off, pulling Hayden along with him as he searched the school. "Okay well... I'm lost. Where is this?" He asked her, handing her the little piece of paper with the class number on it. Once they finally reached the class room, Josh knocked on the door, and smiled at the teacher, who gasped when she recognized him. "Could Hayden and I borrow one of your student's for a moment?" Josh asked, his voice calm and polite, despite the anger he felt towards the boy. He wasn't even sure why he was so angry. Hayden said she was over it, but Josh just didn't think it was fair. That because of a stupid boy trying to take advantage of her crush, Hayden now didn't talk. The teacher nodded and asked for the name of who Josh was looking for. "Tyler. If you don't need him" Josh said, wondering if he was really doing the right thing. The words 'you'd be good to me, and I'd be so good to you' crossed his mind, and he smiled as he saw a boy walk towards the front of the class, his eyes narrowing as he saw Hayden, and then his eyes widening as he saw Josh.

-X- "Uh... What's going on?" Tyler asked as Josh directed him down the hall way. "I just want to have a little chat with you" Josh said, the anger finally starting to show in his voice. Josh continued to pull Tyler around the side of the building, until they were outside, and out of view of any teachers or students. Then Josh spun Tyler around so that he was facing him. "What's going on?" Tyler asked again. Josh ignored his question, and looked over at Hayden, then nodded. "You... Are a d**k. You are the definition of idiot, and you are where most mothers get their idea's of classic high school boys." Josh said, ignoring the confused look on Tyler's face. "Apologize to Hayden" Josh said. Tyler opened and closed his mouth, confused. Josh looked over at Hayden, then sighed. "Say it" Josh said, looking right into Tyler's eyes. "No. ******** off dude, you're insane" Tyler said, pushing past Josh, who just grabbed the collar of Tylers shirt, and yanked him back. Tyler swung his fist at Josh, but Josh ducked it, then punched Tyler right in the nose, causing him to flal over. Josh stood over him, and looked right into his eyes once more. "Say it" Josh growled, more angry then every. Tyler turned to Hayden, and muttered sorry, then stood up and scampered away. Josh sighed and collapsed onto the ground, burying his face in his hands, as he shook his head. "I can't believe what I just did..." He muttered, shifting so that he was in a sitting position, and so that his knee's were pressed against his chest, not looking up as guilt and more anger built up inside of him.

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Hayden nodded in agreement as she listened to Josh. But then he grabbed her hand and pulled her out the bus, to the bewilderment of Sam and 'company'. Josh asked over his shoulder about Tyler, but she was too disoriented to do much more than give a weak, "Ah, yeah...?" She stumbled after him until she had to lead the way. Hayden didn't think about the action at all, but she lead Josh, who hadn't let go of her hand, a block over from the Starbuck's to Greenbrier High. He took over again on the way up the steps, surprising the lady at the front desk when he suddenly appeared at the desk asking for Tyler's schedule. Them it was back to leading again, and Hayden was getting nervous with every step toward room D-13. She turned and looked over her shoulder a few times in the familiar hallway, finally getting to see Josh's face. He looked furious, and Hayden had no idea why. She just flipped back around and continued, mind reeling. She paused in front of the door, and Josh knocked and entered, startling Mrs. Hurtz. "Ah, hello...? What can I do for you?" the teacher stuttered, dropping her piece of chalk. Josh smiled politely, used to such reactions, no doubt, "Could Hayden and I borrowone of your students for a moment?" Of course, the teacher obliged, and Tyler was sent out into the hallway, where Josh grabbed him by the collar and hauled him around through a door leading outside.

Hayden ran after the two guys, suddenly getting Josh's anger. Why would Josh get this angry for my sake? I...I don't get it. I said I was over it... she thought to herself, arriving in the lot behind the school in time to hear Josh call Tyler a d**k. She stopped dead in the doorway, eyes wide. Josh didn't stop there either. He forced Tyler to apologize, swinging a punch in the process, catching Tyler square in the nose. Hayden's hands flew to her mouth, mixed emotions running through her. She was so happy right then that Josh would want to avenge her, but horrified that he was getting into a fight. "Josh! It's ok! He's not worth it," she gasped through her fingers as he slammed Tyler onto the ground. The boy mutter a quick apology to her, and Josh let him up, ad he dashed passed Hayden through the open door, holding his bleeding nose. Josh sank down to the ground with a regretful sigh. "I can't believe what I just did ..."

Hayden let her arms drop back to her sides and stared at Josh for a moment, processing what he'd just done. Done for hher. Josh had just risked his career as a vocalist over her. She could hardly believe it, but she'd seen it with her own eyes. Hayden gave a tiny smile, to her own surprise, and strode over and knelt beside him. She threw an arm around his shoulders, which she noted were much broader than she'd thought, and leaned her head on him before whispering, "Thank you, Josh. You...I didn't expect you to do that, you know." She stood up again and looked down at him. "C'mon, let's go back. We'll get in trouble if we stay here any longer."

-X- Josh sighed and removed his hands from his face. "I know I didn't... I just... hate when people do stuff... Like that... Use people. It makes me so angry." Josh muttered then nodded and stood up, before holding out his hand for Hayden. Once she took it, he pulled her up, then began walking back to teh bus, feeling tired and defeated. Why had he done that? he rubbed his eyes as him and Hayden walked, and nearly jumped out of his skin, when his blackberry began buzzing in his pocket. "Hello?" Josh said breathlessly into the phone. "Where the hell are you? Your mom got back like... half an hour ago. We've tried calling you like... Six times. We have to go if we're going to make it to the next city in time." Matt's voice said through the little speaker. Josh sighed and looked at his shoes as he walked. "I'll explain later. We're on our way." Josh said, then hung up. "My mom is back... So we have to leave for the next city when we get back to the bus..." Josh said, not sure if he was ready to leave yet. He mostly wanted to stay with Hayden. He wanted to know more about her. He wanted to meet her family, and to learn all about her past. He sighed and looked up at the sky, wondering if he'd ever see her again after he left.

-X- Josh sighed as the bus came into view, and slowed his pace, hoping Hayden would match it. Then he ran his fingers through his hair, and decided that he did have feelings for her. Only he wanted to take it slowly. He had only seen her twice, but both times had gone well, and he could trust her. He sighed again, and decided that if he did ever see her again, he would tell her how he felt, but not now. He didn't want to end his visit with her, on a possible bad note. Josh looked up as he heard his name, and sighed as he saw Matt standing in front of the bus, waving his arms around, telling him to hurry up, with Sam giggling beside him. "Idiot..." Josh muttered to himself, as Matt tripped over his own foot and lost his balance. Matt regained his balance and smiled, then turned and smiled at Sam, who was still giggling at how idiotic Matt was being. "Fin-uh-ly! Geez, come on Josh. We gotta get rolling." Matt said, hopping from one foot to the other anxiously. "I'll meet you inside" Josh said to Matt, who then turned and gave Sam a big bear hug, then winked at her, and climbed onto the bus. Then Josh sighed and turned to Hayden, hoping she couldn't see how badly he wanted to stay. "Thank you hayden" He whispered into her ear, then kissed her cheek, and walked to the door of the bus, climbing on slowly, looking behind him, out the window as the doors closed, and the bus rolled away.

-X- Josh sighed and walked slowly through the bus. "hey Josh, what happened? Where did you and Hayden go? Why aren't you talking?" Matt asked as Josh walked past him. "I'm tired. I'm going to lay down." Josh said, ignoring Matt, who continued to shoot questions at him. Josh walked into his room, and closed the door and locked it, then began to rub his temples, hoping the headache he could feel building would go away before it got bad. Josh walked over to his bed, and sat down, picking up his lyric book and flipping through it, stopping on the page with the song he and Hayden and sung. He sighed, and closed his book, before placing it in its hiding spot under his mattress. Then he pulled off his sweater, and his shoes, and got under the covers, and stared at the ceiling until he finally fell asleep, even though it was only early afternoon.

And I don't want the world to S E E me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Hayden flinched a bit when Josh's phone rang. He flipped it out and murmured into i for a minute before hanging up and turning to her. "My mom is back... So we have to leave for the next city when we get back to the bus..." he said, sighing and looking to sky. He looked exhausted. Hayden frowned, this meant that she probably wouldn't see him again, well, meet him again. She'd see him everywhere, but wouldn't be able to talk to him. She sighed too, but looked to the ground instead of the sky. She felt a lot happier after what Josh had done about Tyler, like she finally got some closure on the whole situation. But the feeling was weighted down with the knowledge that she'd have to say goodbye to him, and soon. The bus was in view, and Hayden's feet dragged through the gravel as she inconspicuously slowed her pace. But they still reached the wretched vehicle too soon. Matt and Sam were leaning against the side chatting when Hayden spotted them, and Matt greeted them with sarcastic enthusiasm. Sam just laughed, she didn't seem worried about anything. Lucky. She probably doesn't care that she'll never get to talk to Matt again. Yeah, she's just a flirt, she thought enviously. Sam could hold back any feelings, and she flirted openly, so she might not think twice about Matt until he's in some magazine she's reading.

Hayden stopped her train of thought right there. She shouldn't be thinking of Sam that way, it wasn't fair. She was just taking it out on her, and when Hayden realized it, she felt ashamed. They were standing next to the bus now, and her and Josh watched as Matt gave Sam a huge hug and a wink before running to the open bus-door. Sam, blushing slightly, stood and waved lazily, in a daze. Hayden giggled this time, Sam never looked dazed. But she drew in a breath then, now it was her turn. She looked up to Josh with a small frown, disappointed that they'd had so little time. He was already staring down at her, sadness in his eyes, too. That made her smile, even if just a little. That sadness there meant that she wasn't the only one who wanted him to stay. Josh whispered a thank you, before bending down to kiss her cheek. Hayden stood rod-straight, shocked. Placing her hand gently on her cheek, now tingling, she stared after the retreating Josh as he climbed onto the bus after Matt. He turned and looked behind him in hesitation, then the doors shut behind him and the bus drove away.

Hayden was still staring after the bus long after it was out of sight. Her face slowly grew red as she realized what had just happened. Absorbed in the moment, she didn't even hear Sam sneek up on her. "Oo-h, Hay-den...Looks like someone's gotta cru-sh. Hayden's gotta cru-sh!" Sam sang in a sing-song. Hayden gasped and fwippde around to glaer at her best friend, "Oh yeah? What about you, Miss I'm-too-cool-for-love? What was that idiotic staring you were doing at Matt then? Hmm?" Then it was Sam's turn to flush, and the girls burst out laughing. "C'mon, chick, let's head to your house. We've got to make it there before the school calls wondering about your attendance," Sam gasped through her giggles. They walked to Sam's beat-up truck, still in the Starbuck's parking lot, and got in. Hayden, side still hurting, buckled in and noticed the drinks were sitting in the cup holders, cold and flat. She smiled, they'd been gone longer than she'd thought. Sam's driving got them to Hayden's house in two minutes flat, but Hayden was daydreaming through the whole ride, not noticing how Sam nearly ran into a telephone pole. Once in the driveway, Hayden stepped out clumsily, pausing to massage her freshly-bruised knee, and they headed to the house. Without talking to anyone, they went straight for Hayden's room, and Sam picked up the phone on the way. Shutting the door and locking it, the girls sank onto the twin mattress in unison. "So...what did you and Josh do when he dragged you off the bus? Did'ya go and makeout behind the store or something?" Sam asked, mischievious grin in place. Hayden turned her head and answered flattly,"So what did you and Matt do when I was with Josh? Did'ya roll around in his sheets or something?" That shut her up. They fell into silence, staring at the ceiling, remembering.

-X- Josh was fast asleep when he felt someone sit on the edge of his bed. He opened his eyes slowly, and smiled when he saw his mother. She smiled back and pushed his hair away from his forehead. "How's your hand been?" She asked him softly. Josh rolled over, so that he was laying on his back instead of his stomach, and rubbed his eyes. "It's a lot better. Hurts when I touch it, but otherwise its healing nicely." Josh said quietly, petting Lucy who had climbed onto his stomach. "How weird was it to see Hayden again? I mean... Man, talk about coincidences." His mother said absentmindedly, unaware of the fact that the minute she said Hayden's name, his stomach filled with butterflies. "Yeah... It was weird." Josh said quietly. She smiled and reached over to pet Lucy as well. "She's such a nice girl... And Matt has a bit of a thing for her friend, as far as I can tell" She continued on. Josh nodded and made a small murmur of agreement. "Anyway... You've been asleep for a few hours. I thought I'd let you know that we're planning on checking into a hotel for the night, and getting dinner somewhere, since we're ahead of schedule. We're almost in the next city, and we'll be dashing for the hotel the minute the bus stops, so I thought I'd let you know to get your stuff ready" Josh's mother continued. Josh yawned and sat up. "Can I just stay in the room? I'm really not that hungry and..." Josh began, only to be cut off. "No. You're coming with us. You boys have been out and about, and I've hardly had a chance to see you since the tour started. I'm sorry sweetie, I know you're tired." She said, then stood up and walked to the door. "Get dressed. We'll be at the hotel in 10 minutes" She said, then walked out, closing the door behind her.

-X- Yawning again, Josh pulled the covers away from his body and quickly changed into a white t-shirt, and a black button down cardigan sweater, then pulled on his converse, and went through his stuff, until he had a small bag with just his pajamas, his toiletries and a second pair of clothes. He exited the room and ran his fingers through his hair as he made his way to the couch, where everyone was seated, watching The Simpsons. "hey guys" He said, squeezing in beside Matt and his mom. "hey dude. Feeling better?" Matt asked. Josh smiled at Matt's concern, and nodded, then turned his attention to the T.V., which was now playing a clip from a news report. Josh gasped as he saw himself, walking down the street next to Hayden. 'Ramsay was seen walking down the street, with an unknown girl in Greenbrier, Canada after an interview at the small town's radio station. People are now wondering, could this be a secret girlfriend? Or just a fan that happened to spot him, and maybe got lucky? As much as we'd love to, we really don't know the answer, because before we could even get close to the two of them, they ducked into the local high school. Updates will be made when we know more' The reporter said, sounding serious, as if seeing Josh on the street was the most important thing she could talk about. Josh groaned and rested his head against the top of the couch, smacking Matt's arm as he began to laugh. "You ditched the rest of us... To go to Hayden's school?" Matt asked between laughs. Josh narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. "No. We had a reason for being there." Josh said, defensively. Matt continued to chuckle, which was getting on Josh's nerves. "Oh yeah? And what was that? So that you and her could make out in the janitors closet, since you never got to while you were still in high school?" Matt asked, laughing harder at his own joke. Josh's mother's eyes widened at the last comment, and Josh just rolled his eyes at stared at the T.V. "No Matt. To talk to some guy who took advantage of Hayden. Not everyone's actions involve some form of sexuality, Matt" Josh murmured.

-X- When the bus stopped in front of the hotel, the boys all grabbed their stuff and walked quickly towards the front doors, happy that none of the fans from the city they were in, knew that they would be there. They all went to the front desk and got room keys, keeping sunglasses on while in elevator, only taking them off once they were in their own rooms. Josh dropped his stuff on the bed closest to the window, and then went to the washroom to fix his hair. Matt walked in as well, holding his camera up to his face, meaning he was filming. "Say hi Josh" Matt said. Josh turned and looked at the camera and rolled his eyes. "C'mon Josh. This is going on youtube... Don't make your fans think you're anti-social" Matt cooed, stepping closer to Josh, who had gone back to fixing his hair. "I'm not being anti-social. I'm trying to get ready, because my mother is forcing me to go to dinner with her, and you idiots." Josh said, then grabbed his toothbrush and put toothpaste on it, before he began brushing. "Josh is brushing his teeth. Isn't it the most buuuu-tiful thing you've ever seen?" Matt asked, his voice sounding bubbly and cheerful. Josh turned back to the camera and continued brushing. "Gwo away" Josh muttered. Matt started laughing then turned around and walked out of the bathroom. "Okay fine. Let's go see what underwear Josh packed." Matt said loudly enough that Josh could hear him. Josh quickly spat out the toothpaste and rinsed his mouth out, then ran from the bathroom and tackled Matt, "ooouuuuwww!" Matt howled as the camera fell from his hand, landing on Josh's pillow. Josh smirked and got off Matt, jumping onto his bed, getting the camera right before Matt did. "Matt's stupid. And he sleeps with a teddy bear" Josh said, pointing the camera to himself. "I do not" Matt said, taking the camera from Josh, turning it so that it was facing Josh still, and then hit Josh's arm. "Oww!" Josh said, pouting as Matt walked away. "C'mon loser. Your mom is waiting" Then he said bye to the camera, and turned it off, putting it in his pocket, so that he could take more videos. Josh got up off the bed and ran after Matt, fixing his cardigan once he had caught up. Then they put on sunglasses and exited the room, heading towards the elevators, so that they could meet up with Josh's mom in the lobby.

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Hayden had fallen asleep after a few minutes of lying down, but Sam got up and explored her friend's room. She grinned mischieviously when she found a pack of magic markers, and tip-toed over to the bed to where Hayden was passed out, breathing softly. Hayden woke up to her nose itching, and when she wiped her face, smeared green ink across her cheek. It took a second for it to sink into Hayden the meaning of the weird smudge on her hand and Sam sitting with a marker. "...Samantha Kay...you're gonna get it!" she yelled as her sly counterpart skipped out of the room and sailed downstairs. "Ha-ha! Only if you can catch me~" she sang, making a face at Hayden, who was now leaning over the banister looking down at her. Then she skipped away to a hiding place, while Hayden scowled and angrily chased after her. She followed the sound of footsteps to the laundry room, but Sam was already gone. Then to the kitchen, but still, no Sam. Hayden raced to the bathroom in just enough time to see her flighty friend open the door and shake her wet hands. Sam looked startled, but grinned and took off toward the living room when she saw Hayden, not giving her a chance to grab her. Hayden took off after her, but when she burst through the living room door Sam had just slammed in her face, she ran smack into her, and the two tumbled to the floor. But Sam just jumped back up and stared at the television with wide eyes. Brushing herself off, Hayden stepped to her feet in confusion, then turned to look at the television as well.

Hayden gasped when she read the headline on the news channel. It read "Ramsay's Lucky Girl", and a clip of her and Josh walking down the street played, him grabbing her hand and everything. The newscaster looked grave as she read the report of Josh disappearing into the school, but Hayden didn't hear a word of it, she was too busy storming out of the room with her face in her hands. Sam looked wide-eyed for a bit longer before bursting into laughter and chasing after her. "...Oh...oh my gosh. You...you mean to tell me, that you took Josh to school? You get the chance to be alone with him anywhere in town, and you choose school?? You're crazy, girl!" Hayden, blush burning her face, lifted her head from her hands and glared at Sam meaningfully. "Whatever, Sam! Do you realize what I've done? I just ruined my already crumbling reputation and possibly gave Josh a reason to hate me! When he sees that he'll think I called the reporter or something! What am I going to do?" she mourned, voice shaking. Sam's laughing stopped, and a comforting hand landed on Hayden's shoulder. "It'll be ok, I promise. Matt told me about Josh. He wouldn't think like that, and even if he did, he'd listen to you when you explain," she soothed, smiling.

Sam's face become that of a conspirators as she continued saying reassurances to her friend. Hayden felt awful, and almost didn't catch the familiar gleam in her eyes. Stopping cold, she looked at Sam in the eye and questioned, "...Sam? What're you thinking...?" Sam just smiled wider, then grabbed a roll of duct-tape from seemingly nowhere. She forced the confused Hayden to place her hands behind her back, which she then tied, laughing victoriously. "S-sam?! What is this? What're you doing?!" Sam looped an arm through Hayden's tied ones and dragged her out of the house before answering, "Hmm? Oh, I'm kidnapping you. Because if I asked you to come with me while I stalked Marianas Trench's tour bus, you'd probably call the cops." "DUH! And with good reason!" Sam just laughed and gave Hayden a scary look, which made Hayden wordlessly jump into the passenger seat. Shutting the door happily, Sam whistled a merry tune as she climbed into her own seat and pulled out of the drive. "Here we go~" she giggled, flooring it. Hayden just shut her eyes and prayed for the best.

"...Sam. You do realize we have school tomorrow, right?"
"Well, duh. I'm skipping."
"Well, what about me? And it's illegal to kidnap!"
"Oh, pshaw. I'm not kidnapping you, I'm just forcing you to come with me."
"...Whatever."
Hayden sulked and stared out the passenger window, not looking at Sam. Sam just ignored her and started up her whistling again, hardly paying attention to the road. "WHY exactly are you stalking the tour bus?" Hayden finally asked, curiosity doing her in. Sam just rolled her eyes, then turned her eyes back to the road just in time to dodge a semi. Hayden stared at her, hoping it would unnerve her into telling, but Sam was never unnerved, so she gave up. Turning back to her own window, she mauled over the newscaster's words. She'd been called a 'secret girlfriend', which made her heart flutter, mainly at the word girlfriend. But then, she'd also been called a 'lucky fan', and that sunk her back to earth. Itching her wrists, which were still duct-taped behind her, she found the end of her plastic prison. Peeling with all her might, Hayden managed to pull off most of the tape, and then eventually unwrapped her sore hands. Sam looked over, shaocked, but then grinned, "You're coming with me, right? I won't have to drop you off somewhere?" Hayen stared at her friend with a look that said 'you're crazy, but I love you anyway'. "...If anyone asks, you kept me tied up in the back with my mouth taped shut, right?"she answered, rolling her eyes. No way woud she leave Sam all alone to get herself into trouble. The girls fought back fits of giggles, while Hayden buckled herself in and Sam dodged on-coming traffic.

_________ ...Don't you ever tell me I'm not loving you best.

-X- Camera still pressed against Matt's face, Josh and him walked through the hall of the hotel. The boys stopped in front of Josh's mom and the other two. "Matt's making tour videos. Cause our fans really need to see the boringest parts of our lives, right?" Josh said in answer to Mike and Ian's confused looks. Matt sighed and zoomed into Josh's face. "We need to document. What about when we're old and wrinkly? Don't you think we'll want to look back at how beee-utiful Josh is?" Matt said giggling. Josh rolled his eyes and ran his fingers through his hair, then posed like a super model. They all started laughing, and Josh's mother just shook her head. "Hate to break up the fun boys, but we have a reservation" She said. Then Josh pressed his face right up against the camera and smiled, before pulling away, laughing. Matt smiled as he ended the recording and placed the camera in his pocket. "I bet you guys that the fans will totally adore Josh's cardigan. It's so manly" Matt said, pulling at the sleeve of Josh's sweater. Josh pouted and ran his fingers through his hair. "You're just jealous that I can pull it off, and you can't" Josh said, then rolled his eyes as Matt began filming again. "We're just about to get into this weird van Josh's mom somehow managed to produce while we were all getting cleaned up. It's black with purple tinted windows. Quite cool. We're actually letting Josh drive today, since we haven't let him drive once since we started the band. We think it's finally his turn. And luckily, I will be shotgun, so you will get a close look at how much Josh fails. At life" Matt said, turning the camera away from Josh, who was walking in front of him, to his own face, smirking into the camera before he turned it back to Josh, who was now doing up his seat belt.

-X- Matt chuckled as Josh started the ignition. "So... Here you can even see that's he hesitant. Don't crash Josh. Our deaths will be on your hands" Matt murmured. Josh smiled and put the van into drive, pulling away from the curb carefully, waiting until the traffic had cleared before he pulled completely onto the road. "Not if I die to" Josh said, watching the road as he spoke. Matt turned the camera so that it was facing himself, and smiled. "You guys can't see this, but Josh is actually shaking. It kind of makes me wonder if he actually ever got his license." Matt said, then zoomed on on Josh's hands, and shook the camera slightly. "Shut up, I'm not shaking. And I do have my license. It's in my mom's wallet" Josh said, smiling as he checked the mirrors. "Hear that? His mom's wallet" Matt said, trying to hold back laughter. "In his defense, he loses everything. I figured his license was something I wouldn't trust him with." Josh's mom piped up from the back seat. Josh pouted and gripped the steering wheel harder. "Mom, where the hell am I going?" Josh finally asked, realizing that no one had ever told him where to go. Matt suddenly broke into obsessive laughter, almost dropping the camera, which he quickly refocused on Josh. "You see why we don't let him drive? Although he isn't a terrible driver... He forgets the basics of driving. Knowing. Where the ********. He's going" Matt said. Josh rolled his eyes and smiled. "Shut up. Mom?" Josh said. Josh's mother sighed and pursed her lips. "Keep going straight. I'll tell you when to turn." She said. Josh nodded and rolled down the window, smiling as the wind blew his hair. "I think I'm going to stop filming for a bit..." Matt said, looking at Josh as he spoke. Josh frowned and looked at Matt, a small childish frown on his lips. "Why?" he asked. Matt shrugged. "Just... Let's just give the camera a break from Mr.Pretty-boy. it may over heat" Matt said, just catching Josh rolling his eyes before Matt shut off the camera.

-X- Josh moved the last bit of his dinner around on the plate, not really being hungry in the first place. Thoughts of Hayden kept creeping into his mind. What was she doing? What was she thinking? Was it about him? He sighed and finally pushed his plate forward. Then he looked at Matt's camera, which was sitting on the table beside Matt. "Hey Matt... When are you gonna load those on?" Josh asked. Matt swallowed his food and looked at Josh strangely. "Uhh. Maybe when we get back to the hotel. Onto your lap top. Do you mind?" Matt asked. Josh shook his head and took a sip of his coke, his thoughts returning to Hayden. Would she see the videos? What if she thought they were stupid, and pointless? What if she thought that Josh was just a waste of space? Or... Maybe she would think they were cute. And funny. Josh smiled, hoping that she would think positive things, if she saw them. When the boys finally finished, the check payed and all, they made their way back to the cool black van. Josh slid into the drivers seat and started up the car. He felt calmer, and more confident this time, because not only did he know where he was going, and how to handle the vehicle; He also didn't have Matt's camera pointed at him. He could hear the rest of them talking and laughing somewhere in the background of his thoughts, but he mainly focused on the road, and the cars around him. He looked out the side mirror, a confused look crossing his face as he noticed a beat up looking truck behind him. He was almost sure that he had seen that car behind them on the way to the restaurant, but chose to ignore it, and turned his attention to the red light they were not stopped at.

-X- Josh smiled happily as he hopped out of the van, and walked towards the front doors of the hotel. So far no one had realized where they were staying, which made it easier to go back and forth. Him and Matt stepped out of the elevator and walked to their room. Josh unlocked the door, rolling his eyes as Matt filmed it. "I'm unlocking the door. Is it really that interesting?" Josh asked sarcastically. Matt smiled and nodded, then followed Josh into the hotel room, filming Josh as he flicked on a bunch of lights. "I'm going to edit out all the stupid stuff... Like me explaining what I'm going to do, and I'm going to make it into one video." Matt said, filming Josh as he searched through his stuff for his lap top. "Thrilling" Josh murmured, finally finding the dark blue dell lap top, which Matt focused the camera on for a few seconds. "See people, when you're a sweet rock star like Josh here, you can buy epic Leisure toys. Like lap tops." Matt said into the camera, ignoring Josh's eye roll. Josh quickly unlocked the lap top and opened up the video editing software, then left Matt to do whatever he wanted to with it. Josh then grabbed his towel and his pajama bottoms and made his way to the bathroom, where he stripped down and took a quick, steaming hot shower. Once he was done, he dried himself off, and pulled his pajama pants on. He then brushed his teeth and hair, making sure that it didn't look too stupid in case Matt decided to make more videos, then stepped out of the bathroom, rolling his eyes as he saw Matt's camera pointed at him, red light on, showing Josh that he was filming. "See this people? Thsi si the type of thing you will only see once or twice in your life. Unless you're unlucky enough to marry him. Josh... Topless" Matt said. Josh rolled his eyes and walked over to his own bed, draping his towel over a small chair in the corner of the hotel room. "Isn't he thexy?" Matt said with a fake lisp, zooming in on Josh's bare chest. "Matt, go away" Josh muttered, walking over to his bag of stuff, so that he could get his clothes ready for the next day. "If you don't want topless pictures of yourself on the internet, wear a shirt." Matt said, still pointing the camera at Josh. "I'm going to bed, so hurry up with my lap top. I wanna check my e-mail before I turn out the light" Josh said, pulling the covers back from his bed. Matt sighed and turned the camera back to himself. "Fine. Josh is being grumpy. tee-tee-why-ell fans and stalkers" Matt said, before turning of the camera. "You're so lame" Josh said, as he pulled the covers up around him. Matt waved his hand dismissively at Josh and plugged the camera into the lap top, then began loading and editing the videos. Matt yawned as he finally loaded the finished uploading the final video, which was just all the videos clumped into one long one, with only captions explaining what they were doing between each individual video. Then he signed out of their youtube account, and shut down Josh's lap top, not wanting to wake up Josh, who had already fallen asleep.

Mental Log: Day 1

It's 5:49 pm. We've been on the road for about an hour. Sam's driving hasn't improved in the least. How did she even get a license? She's speeding a lot to catch up to the tour bus, they got an hour head-start. Haven't stopped for anything since leaving the house. No bathroom breaks, grabbing a bite to eat, nothing.

Thankfully Sam forgot to take her duffel bag from our little camp-out into her house when she got the truck back. There are granola bars in the front zipper compartment. I've separated them into rations, there are thirty all together, so we each get fifteen. There are water bottles, too.

Sam seems to know where she's going. I'm trusting her, so I turn to my own devices and leave her alone. Luckily I had both my phone and iPod in my jacket pockets when I was abducted earlier this afternoon. Saves me hours of boredom.

I slip the earphones into place and hit 'play' on the iPod. After scrolling a bit, I randomly select a song, and 'Black Balloon' starts up. Love the Goo Goo Dolls...

You know the lies they always told you
And the love you never knew
Whats the things they never showed you
That swallowed the light from the sun
Inside your room

It's a good song. I nod my head to the steady beat as I take out my phone. One new message.

Uh-oh. I'm so grounded when I get home... I hit 'reply' and do the opposite of what Sam would do (my personal philosophy: What Wouldn't Sam Do?). I told him the truth:

I hit 'send', knowing I'm doomed. I nervously tap at the window while I wait for the responce, and I can feel Sam's curious gaze on me. Then my phone vibrates and plays 'White and Nerdy', my dad's special ringtone. I flip the cover up and check my mail. One new message.

I return to tapping the window for a few moments,
but stop to nibble on a granola bar. Sam finally is focusing on the road, something seems to have caught her attention. I take no notice, I'm still waiting for my sentence from Judge Mitch. The song on my iPod changes, the Fray is playing now. But I don't hear it, instead I hear 'White and Nerdy' again. One new message.

I'm not mad, Hayden. I'm just worried sick about you, though.

Next, you skip school with Sam. And now you disappear without a trace.
Is this some sort of teenage rebellion?

Whew! I thought I was gonna get it! I sigh with relief as I hurriedly type my answer. Whatever is going on with Sam must be important, her driving has slowed and she's not violating a single traffic law.

'Send'. I snap the cell shut and look over at Sam, taking in her excited expression as she stares ahead. I look to see what she's grinning about, and then I see it. The tour bus, only two cars ahead of us! I feel a smile grow on my face, though it's not like Sam's conspiratory one. I know Josh isn't far away now, and it makes me feel a lot better.

Wait a second. I feel better? When did I feel bad? Sam looks at me and knows what I'm thinking. "Funny, huh? It's like we didn't even know we were in pain until we took the morphine," she muses, turning to concentrate on the road again. I just nod, not knowing what to say. The song Josh wrote is playing in my head now, and I take out my earphones and listen to it instead.

And now I do want you to know I hold you up above everyone
And I do want you to know I think you'd be good to me
and I'd be so good to you

I wonder if he's ok? What's he doing right now?Is he adding the finishing touches to his song, maybe? Does he kiss girls on the cheek often? Does he think of me like I think of him? Question after question pops into my head, and I'm so distracted I nearly jump out of my skin when my phone rings again.
One new message.

'Send'.

Sam nervously pulled into the gas stationacross the street from a fancy hotel, the kind that people on business trips stay in. The tour bus vanished in it's back parking lot, and Sam certainly hadn't made reservations. Hayden looked to Sam and raised a brow. "I guess we're sleeping in the truck?" Sam sheepishly replied, "Sorry, I didn't exactly plan on this so..." She let the sentence dangle and looked out the window. Hayden rolled her eyes and reached down the right side of her seat until her hand found a lever. She pulled the lever and leaned the seat back until she was lying comfortably on he back. Sam followed suit before twisting onto her side.

Today had been quite a day, and both girls, despite their resting earlier, were exhausted. They'd walked around the mall for a few hours, walked back and forth to school, where someone was then beaten up, played a wild game of tag, and drove for hours without stopping. It was only nine o'clock when Sam pulled the keys out of the ignition, but her and Hayden were ready to sleep. Rumbling stomachs forgotten, they fell asleep almost immediately. Sam mumbled in her sleep about sexy drummers while Hayden dreamed about a song.

_________ ...Don't you ever tell me I'm not loving you best.

-X- Josh leaned against the lockers of the Greenbier high school, waiting for the one person he wanted to see come out of the classroom doors. When the bell finally rang, he stood alert, keeping his eyes open for Hayden. He smiled when he spotted her, and waved slightly. She smiled back and made her way over to him. "What are you doing here?" She asked quietly, like she didn't want anyone else to hear her. Josh shrugged. "Kinda wanted to see you." Josh said, pulling her into a small hug. His heart fluttered with excitement when she wrapped her arms around him, but he tried not to let it show. "So? Wanna skip your last couple classes, and go get Starbucks or something?" Josh asked her in a light, cheerful tone. Hayden raised her eyebrow at him and smiled. "Are you asking me out, or something?" She asked slyly. Josh rubbed the back of his neck and smiled back. "I guess so" He said finally, his cheeks turning red. Hayden smiled even wider and grabbed his hand. "Well, then I'd love to" She said, then pulled him out of the school.

-X- "Joooooooooosh. Wake up. The camera's on you my booyyyy" Matt said in a sing-song voice. Josh opened his eyes slowly, and was met by Matt's camera, red recording light on. [******** off. I was having a good dream" Josh mumbled, then rolled over and put a pillow over his head. Matt chucked and zoomed the camera in on Josh's bare back, and pillow covered head. "Was it abouuuut--" Matt started, only to be cut off by Josh's pillow, which went flying from Josh's hand, right into Matt's face. "Bleeh" Josh said, then pulled back the covers and walked over to the bathroom. "Oh ew." Josh said looking at his reflection. Matt followed Josh and chuckled, still recording Josh as he stared at himself. "What?" Matt asked. Josh sighed and pointed to his hair. "This. Do you see this? Shitty morning hair" Josh mumbled, then picked up his brush and began combing through his blue and black locks, hoping he wouldn't need to pull his flat iron from the depths of his bag. Matt shook his head and zoomed in on Josh's face, which was twisted in frustration as he dragged the brush through his hair. "Screw this" Josh murmured, putting the brush down. He walked over to the right side of the counter and started searching through bags of stuff, until he finally found his flat iron. Once the iron had been plugged in, Josh jumped onto the counter and sat facing Matt, who was still recording him. "Your hair looks stupid" Matt commented, staring at Josh, whose hair was still sticking up. "Shut up." Josh said, scratching his arm. Matt shrugged and pointed to the flat iron, which was sitting on the counter. "Check it" Matt said. "No, it'll be hot" Josh said back. Matt shook his head. "No not yet. Touch it. It can't be hot yet" Matt said. Josh sighed and picked it up, then rested his hand against one of the ceramic plates on the inside, and gasped, pulling his hand away quickly. "Ow. s**t. ********] Josh said, waving his hand around. Matt started laughing and pointed to the camera. "Got all of that" Matt said, still laughing. Josh narrowed his eyes and pointed to the door. "Go. Now" He said. Matt pouted and turned to leave the room, Josh closing the door behind him.

-X- Once Josh was finally ready, dressed in slim blue jeans, a white plain t-shirt and a black pull over hoodie, they all packed up whatever they had taken out of bags, and carried everything to the bus, getting ready to leave once more. Josh dropped his stuff on his bus-bed and smiled. "Happy to be kind of home" Josh said, smiling at the camera Matt had pointed at him once again. Matt smiled and walked around the room, showing exactly what Josh's bedroom looked like. Josh sighed and began pulling things he needed from his bags, then threw the bags on the floor at the end of the bed, so that they wouldn't be in the way. "Can't you go film Mike, or Ian or something?" Josh asked, running his fingers through his hair. Matt shook his head. "They aren't as interesting. They just sit around reading the newspaper. I seriously don't know how Allie can stand dating Ian. He's soooooo boring" Matt said. Josh smiled and shook his head. Then raised and eyebrow and stuffed his hands in the pocket of his sweater. "Y'know what I want? I want some Coke" Josh said, walking past Matt, who just turned on his heel and followed Josh from the room. Josh pulled a can of Coke Zero from the fridge, and smiled as he cracked it open, then took a long sip from his, and smiled. "Nothin' like cold Coke in the morning" Josh said, sitting beside Ian, who had the newspaper spread out in front of him. "You're so weird" Ian muttered, only looking at Josh briefly before turning back to an article about the economy in China. "But that's the way uh-huh, uh-huh they like him" Matt said, smiling at Josh. Josh smiled back, but shook his head. "Who likes Josh?" Mike asked. Matt smiled slyly, and Josh's eyes widened, since he already knew who he was going to say. "Hayden" "The fans!" They both said at the same time. Luckily, Josh was louder, and Matt narrowed his eyes at him. "The fans like Josh 'cause he likes to drink Coke in the morning?" Mike asked. Josh smiled and nodded, then got up and made his way to his room, closing and locking the door behind him.

-X- Matt sighed and turned off the camera. "He's such a douche sometimes" Matt said sadly, then stood up and followed Josh. He knocked on the door lightly, and opened his, peeking in to see Josh sprawled on the bed, on his stomach, scribbling something into his lyric book. "new song?" Matt asked. Josh shook his head and grimaced. "Sadly, no" He said, sighing as he sat up, leaning against the wall. Matt shrugged. "You just wrote a pretty awesome one, so no sweat. We should really find someone to sing that with you. It's such a nice song" Matt said, playing with the strap of the camera. Josh flipped through the pages of his book, to the page with 'Good to You' on it. he ran his fingers softly across the page, and smiled at the doodles in the margin, and ink splotches, from when he'd tapped his pen just a little too hard. "yeah. Me too. I really like it. It kind of describes what I've been going through lately." Josh said softly. Matt nodded, and Josh looked away from the book to look at Matt. "Wanna hear the song I'm working on?" Josh asked. Matt nodded happily, and smiled as Josh flipped back to the page with the bits and pieces of songs. "It goes 'Please just follow me, I thought you wanted me. 'Cause I want you all to myself. I'll try and suck it up, I just can't suck it up. Make me feel like someone else.' What do you think?" He asked. Matt smiled and gave Josh the thumbs up, then began playing with the chord of the camera again. "Can I use your lap top again? I want to load the newest videos on" Matt said. Josh nodded and pulled the lap top out from under his pillow and handed it carefully to Matt, who took it and sat on the floor, loading and editing while Josh continued to write. When they were both finished what they had been doing, the each closed their devices, Josh his book, and Matt the laptop, and sat on the floor, and began playing Guess Who? which they had a surprisingly fun time doing.

"Hayden...Hey, Hayden, wake up...wake up...WAKE UP!"Hayden's eyes flew open, and above her she saw Sam leaning over her, shaking her awake. Blinking a few times to shake the fog of her dream away. "Mmm, what izzit?" she mumbled, sitting up on her elbows sleepily. Sam had moved and was rummaging through her duffel bag while she replied, "About 8:30. We needed to wake up early if we were going to keep the bus in site. Ah-ha! Lucky us we were the same size clothes." Sam pulled out a pair of skinny jeans and this gorgeous blue top Hayden loved so much. Thrusting them to her, Sam pulled out her own clothes and opened the truck door. "You can wear this. Hurry up, we can change in the gas station." Hayden rubbed her eyes as she gathered the garments and stumbled out the passenger door to follow Sam, who was holding the door open across the lot. The two girls walked into the small store and searched through the aisles for the restroom. The woman at the register pointed to the back corner with a lazy thumb, and they ran inside. The walls were tile, but they looked slimy, and the light made the scene look sickly. "Ew...Are we really changing in here?" Hayden complained, keeping her distance from the walls. Sam, who was cautiously entering a stall shrugged. "Do you know anywhere else we could go? This is closest, and if we don't want to lose the bus we've gotta hurry." Hayden sighed, but tiptoed around some toilet paper lying around into the only other stall and shed her clothes. She pulled on the jeans and hopped around a bit, trying to get the zipper done. When she'd finally zipped them up, Hayden looked disbelievingly over at the wall to the stall with Sam and said, "Are you sure we wear the same size pants? God, you're like a stick!" Sam just laughed, and Hayden pulled the shirt on and stepped out and waited, warily eyeing the dirty walls.

On the way out, Sam bought a box of doughnuts for breakfast. In the truck, she offered Hayden some, and she took a chocolate and sprinkled one, chomping down greedily. She was starved. "Okey, we'ff got time ta kill. It'ch 8:40, an effen rockstrars dun wake up thisth early," Sam said through her doughnut. "Well, I want to check my facebook, did you bring your laptop?" Hayden asked, carefully swallowing before speaking. "Naw, but my phone goes online." Sam pulled her cell out of her bag and handed it to Hayden. Hayden finished her doughnut before picking it up and surfing the net. First she checked her facebook, then her email, then Sam's email. That took all of five minutes, since no one messaged her on facebook and there was only junk mail in her inbox. "Hey, do you have music up here?" she asked boredly. "No, I just go to youtube and listen for free." Hayden nodded and when the phone loaded youtube's homepage, she was about to type in 'Say Anything' in the search bar, but the most watched videos section caught her eye. The videos were titled 'Life on the Road', number 12 and 13 were the most recent ones, uploaded within the last twenty minutes. Curious, Hayden decided to check it out.

While the vid loaded, Hayden turned up the volume on the phone and scooted over so Sam could watch, too. The video started, and there was Matt Webb. Sam gasped excitedly, and Hayden rolled her eyes. "Helloooo adoring fans! This is 'Life on the Road, #12', brought to you by me! Matt!" Matt started, camera in shaking a bit in his hands. With a sly smile, Matt disappeared from view, and the room was visible. They were definitely in a hotel. "Aaaaaand this is Josh! Doesn't he look absolutely adooooorable when he's sleeping?" Hayden gaped, eyes wide. Yes, yes he did. Hey, Joooooosh. Wake up. The camera's on you my boooooyyyyy," and a passed out Josh was displayed, blue and black hair messed up so bad it was sexy. It was Hayden's turn to gasp. Flushing, she looked away, but curiosity couldn't keep her eyes away for long. Sam chuckled, and Hayden punched her arm to shush her. Josh had a dreamy smile on his face, and Hayden smiled, too, wondering what his dream was about. Then the smile vanished, and he rolled over and hid under his pillow. "**** off. I was having a good dream." Matt laughed and said, "Was it abooooouuut--?" conspiratorally, like he knew the answer before Josh threw the pillow at him. Hayden didn't pick up the joke, but was trying to not stare at Josh's bare back, all muscled and unclothed. She felt like a pervert. Then he rolled out of bed and stumbled to the bathroom, followed by Matt with the camera. "Ew." he said to his reflection. "What? He pointed to his hair with disgust, "This. Do you see this? Shitty morning hair." Matt just laughed and zoomed in on Josh's frustrated face as he tried to no avail to brush his hair straight. His face was so funny, it had Hayden and Sam holding their sides as they watched. Screw this," he said, and searched through his bags until he found and plugged in a flat iron. While he waited for the heat, Josh just sat on the counter and stared at the camera. "Your hair looks stupid" "Shut up. "Check it," Matt said, his finger shown pointing to the flat iron. "No, it'll be hot." "No, not yet. Touch it. It can't be hot yet." Matt insisted. Josh sighed and placed his hand between the ceramic plates and winced before snatching it back. "Ow! s**t. ****. Josh waved his hand around and blew on it, and Matt just laughed. So did Sam, but Hayden gave her a steely glare. "Got all of that," Matt teased, still laughing as Josh glared at him and pointed angrily to the door. "Go. Now." Matt left, camera still rolling, pointed at the floor. Matt sat down on his bed and pointed the camera at himself again. Smiling cheerfully, like he hadn't done anything wrong, he continued, "Don't worry 'bout him, my pretties. He's just grumpy 'cuz it's early." Sam grinned and giggled her girly-giggle, obviously happy because he said 'my pretties'. Hayden rolled her eyes again.

The video cut off then, and Sam let out a disappointed 'Aawwww!' Hayden immediately went to video 13. They waited anxiously as the video loaded, and pressed their faces together to look closer at the phone's screen, fighting each other for a better look. The vid. started, and they were on the tour bus now, so Sam quickly started the truck up, just in case. The camera looked around for a bit before focusing on Josh again, who rolled his eyes and said, "Can't you go film Mike or Ian, or something?" Then did his fingers-through-hair number, Hayden came to recognize. The camera shook and Matt said "They aren't as interesting. They just sit around reading the newspaper. I seriously don't know how Allie can stand dating Ian. He's soooooooooo boring," which left Sam laughing and holding her sides again. Josh just shook his head before suddenly stuffing his hands in his pockets and stalking past Matt and the camera to the kitchen. "Y'know what I want? I want some coke." Hayden crinkled her nose and giggled. Coke in the morning? Well, everyone has their querks. Matt followed him, camera bouncing, into the kitchen, where Josh had a coke zero and was gulping it down. Ian, who was sitting at the table, crinkled his newspaper and said above it, "You're so weird," "Nothin' like a cold coke in the morning." Then Matt interjected. "But that's the way uh-huh, uh-huh they like him," and the camera shook as he danced around. Hayden stifled a laugh as Mike walked on camera. "Who likes Josh?" For some reason, Josh's eyes looked at the camera and widened. "Hayden" "The fans!" They said at the same time, and Josh spoke louder, but Matt was closer to the camera. Sam and Hayden gasped and turned and looked at each other. Hayden's face flushed a furious scarlet. "Oh...My...God..." she whispered, mortified. "The fans like Josh 'cause he likes to drink Coke in the morning?" Josh smiled uneasily and nodded before taking off back to his room. Matt sighed and the video cut off. Sam stared at the screen for a moment before turning to look at Hayden again. Hayden, face still red, was scrolling down to read the comments left underneath. None of them were nice. None. They all said things like, 'Who the **** is HAYDEN??' or 'Who is that b***h??', 'Who does she think she is?!' 'What the ****, she's probably just a skank!' and 'What is she to them??' Sam gaped at the comments in horror. "Don't pay attention to any of that, Hayden! They're just jealous of you, those crazy bitches..." she fumed, snatching her phone back from her poor friend and revving the engine. Hayden just gazed dazedly at her hands, shocked. Had she really been that obvious? Did he already know? And what was with that wary look Josh had when he escaped to his room? Was he disgusted? Hayden closed her eyes sadly and sighed softly.

Sam, still angry, glared at the rearview mirror. Her eyes went wide, and she grabbed the clutch and yanked it into reverse and stepped on the gas, hard, startling Hayden. "Huh? Wha-?" But Sam ignored her, and pulled out of the lot in record time. When they pulled onto the main road, Hayden saw what was up, the tour bus had left the hotel, and they were tailing it again. Rolling her eyes, she stared out her window, wanting so badly to return home right then. Josh wouldn't want to see her again, that look he gave the camera at that moment said it all. She just wanted to disappear. But Sam kept driving after that damn bus! They turned off the main road and into a Starbuck's. "Hahaa...They really love their coffee, don't they?" Sam laughed, slowing down and turning into the car dealership a bit down the road. Hayden shot her an annoyed look, "I want to go home, ok. Can we turn around now? We've followed them to God-Knows-Where, where is this anyway? Let's just head home." Sam returned her gaze, "Pshhh, yeah right. I kidnapped you, and I'm still holding you hostage. So hand over your phone, now," she answered, holding her hand out expectingly. Hayden, grimacing, placed the cellular device in her hand and was about to hand over her iPod too, but Sam stopped her. "No no, Hayden. I'm a kidnapper, not a torturer. Keep the 'pod. Hayden shrugged, and turned to look at the Starbuck's, where three guys equipped with hats and sunglasses stepped out of the large bus and glanced around before running at top-speed into the store.
