And I don't want the world to S E E me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

After what seemed like an hour of sitting alone, the dull boom of the drums faded, and Hayden guessed that the concert was over. Disappointed, she sighed and stared at the ceiling. Suddenly the door to the dressingroom banged open, causing Hayden to flinch and almost scream for the pain it sent through her leg, and Josh, holding his hand, scowled at his injury and cursed under his breath. He hadn't noticed her there yet, and Hayden was glad he hadn't, he looked furious. Sinking into the cushions, she stared at him as he ran the bleeding appendage under cool water and re-wrapped it. He looked up then, and stared back at her, looking shocked. "You know you're not 'sposed to be in here, right?" he asked stiffly, but then he looked over the first-aid kit and her knee, and appeared to understand. He didn't apologize, though. Hayden gaped at his rude question, feeling a bit hurt. Well, so-rry I hurt myself and have to rest on your couch for a while. My bad, she thought furiously. She wouldn't say that, though. She wouldn't be as rude to him as he wsa to her. Indignant, she mearly looked away and stared at the door.

As if on cue, the friendly guardwoman came through the door with a medic, a tall rustic man who looked like he caused injuies rather than treated them. She smiled politely to him as he walked over and set a large briefcase down beside her and opened it. The woman walked over to the rude vocalist and left Hayden and the paramedic to her knee. Curious, Hayden pretended to stare at her own injury, but she eavesdropped on the two. "Sorry I missed the concert Hon... Sweetie? You look like you're about to cry. What happened to your hand?" she asked, staringat the bandage. 'Sweetie? Ok, I know she called me 'hon', but you don't call a male 'sweetie' unless you're the mother or something... Hayden wondered, a bit bewildered. Could that lady actually be Josh Ramsay's mother? Thinking deeply about that, she forgot about listening to their conversation. Every now and then the medic man would press her knee, asking 'Does this hurt?' 'Can you feel this?' "Ah, I think you have a sprain, young lady. Here, use this to walk around until you can get an appointment with your doctor," the man said with a booming voice as he pulled out a silver fold-up cane and handed it to Hayden. Eventually he wrapped a hot/cold bandage around it. It felt nice, what with the changing temperatures the sprain didn't swell or ache as much. But she hadn't tried walking yet.

When the door opened for the second time, Matt Webb stepped inside. He looked the room over, going from Josh, to his (maybe) mom, and to her. He raised his brow when he saw her, as if expecting something, and Hayden looked more than a bit startled. Wincing as the movement had jostled her knee, she looked down just as the other band member walked over to Josh and asked about her. Josh looked around at his mother, as if looking for some answer. "I don't know who she is, and frankly? I don't care," he replied, and headed for the door. He stopped when he heard a meowing from under the counter, and he stooped and picked up a cat. Hayden stared at the feline, wondering how she'd missed it, when Josh said,"Luuuuuuuuce!". Hayden processed that for a moment, and remembered the interview this morning. So that must be Lucy... She's adorable, she thought, ignoring the now dulled throbbing of her knee.

That train of thought halted as Matt zoomed in on his bandmate and his cat, interogatting him about what was going on. "Well, I came in, and then that girl was just like... There. So then my mom came in, and guess what? She missed the entire concert. She saw Beside You, and that's it. I don't even know why. She didn't tell me. Then she told me that I went through this to save my dignity" he explained. Realizing then why he was upset earlier, Hyden felt horrible. He had probably wanted his mother to see his last performance before the tour, and she'd gone and screwed it up for him. No wonder he was cross. Hayden was about to stand to apologize and explain, but she remained seated when the conversation became more heated. When Matt started yelling, Josh just stormed off, muttering 'forget it' on his way out the door. Everyone stared after him for a minute, and Matt shook his head angrily. Josh's mom sighed and walked over to Hayden again. "I'm sorry you had to see that, hon. Josh's just had a bad day. I have to go look for him, so I'm leaving you again. We'll see about getting you a ride later, when your knee's doing better," she said, smiling apologetically. Hayden nodded, and watched as everyone filed out of the dressingroom, leaving her alone. Hayden still felt awful about ruining Josh's night, even if he was rude to her, so she stood up and folded the cane the paramedic had given her. She was a bit shaky at first, but after a few steps toward the door, she picked up how to use it. Hobbling out the room, she looked left, then right. She heard voices coming from the right, where Josh's mother was calling for her son. So she turned left, hoping to help search. She passed people on every hallway, and they were packing up shop and hualing crates into trailers outside. Soon, she began seeing less and less packers, and she began to worry if she'd gotten lost. Panicking a bit, Hayden stumbled as fast as she could to the closest door, reading 'Court'. Pushing it open, she immediately heard a tune. It was "Far From Here", an MT song. She looked about and found whom she was looking for, he was sitting on a bench in the far corner, and it was he who was humming.

Hayden gasped, surprised that she'd actually found him. She had opened the door quietly, so she doubted that he'd heard her, so she was thinking of a way to ask him to go look for his mom because she was worried. She couldn't come out and say it, he'd think she was some crazy and obsessed fan, which she was proud to say she wasn't. She couldn't not say anything and sneak up on him, that was stalker-ish. While she was thinking, she unconsiously began humming along to Josh's tune, and after a moment, began singing the lyrics. They were near the end of the song, and Hayden completely forgot where she was as she closed her eyes and sang quietly.

"...It feels alright but that's a lie that's always near
Sit around and blame the one that put you here
I laughed aloud to drown it out
So I could breathe and feel the space around me...

She stopped and gasped again, she'd just realized what she was doing. Growing red, she glanced over to wear Josh was sitting, hoping she hadn't called too much attention to herself.

-X- Josh continued to hum, staring straigh up at the sky. He began to sing outloud. "I'd be so good to you..." He sang quietly, breaking off at the end. He rested his elbows on his knee's and then his head in his hands, his back beginning to shake as he thought about what he had originially wrote that song about. He let out quiet sobs, not loud enough that anyone but himself could hear him. Although he loved his fame, and his band, he also wanted a normal life. A life where he could jsut get out of bed in the morning and throw on whatever smelt clean. A life where he could just walk to the store without wearing a disquise. A life where girls liked him because they thought he was kind, or funny.

-X- He continued to hum, his sobbing turning into slow tears that fell down his cheeks. He jumped when he heard movement across the small courtyard. He quickly wiped his face on the back of his hand, and stood up, making his way over to the dark figure that stood in the door way. As he got closer he could hear the person singing quietly. He was a few feet away when he realized that the person in the doorway was singing one of his songs, but she had stopped by the time he got close. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of the shadow she stood in, and her face became clear. He stared at her with a blank face then sighed. "Oh, it's just you" He said in an emotionless tone, before making his way back to the bench. He knew he probably sounded rude, which he hadn't meant to. He was just in one of those moods, where he felt like a complete failure, and like he had made the wrong choices. He tied the towel around his hand, and then rubbed his eyes. "So, what brings you out to this random courtyard in the middle of a concert hall?" Josh asked, his voice cracking in the middle. He was trying to be friendly, but his voice came out emotionless again, as he sat their, staring at the girl in the doorway.

Hayden looked away from him, he probably wanted to be alone right then, and she felt like a bother all over again. But she wouldn't quit and run away, she needed to apologize to Josh, and she was going to do it. Sucking in a breath, she hobbled over a bit closer to the bench, and sat down, about five feet from it. Careful not to jostle her leg anymore, she sat upright and folded the cane. Lifting her head up to look Josh in the eye, she said, "I'm sorry."

Hayden didn't explain why, but just sat and fiddled with the ends of her bandage. She'd peek up at Josh every few seconds, feeling embarrassed with how stupid she sounded. She stopped looking after a moment, and instead stared up at the sky. She remained like that, smiling when she thought she'd spotted a rabbit in the clouds. Then she sobered up and turned and looked at the depressed man on the bench.
sighing again, she struggled to stand, leaning against the wall for support. Once she was straight again, Hayden looked at the sky again.
Not looking at him as she said it, Hayden whispered her reply to his question."Wanna know why your mother couldn't watch your performance tonight? ... She...It's my fault. When you were backstage treating your hand, I left my seat. I hung around the vending booths until you started playing again, but on my way back to my seat I hurt my knee. I could barely walk, and your mother helped me backstage and went for the paramedic."

Then Hayden smiled, feeling better already. She continued, at a normal volume this time, "Well, I came to this random courtyard in the middle of a concert hall to find you, and to tell you that you're band mates are running all over the place looking for you. Now that my message is delivered...I'm going." With a tiny wave, Hayden stumbled toward the glass door, ready to get back to the dressingroom and rest for a while.

-X- Josh looked up as she came closer and then looked down at his shoes. He kicked the leaves around and sighed when he heard her voice. Sorry? What is she sorry for? Josh thought to himself. He nodded as she explained. "It wasn't your fault. Those fans were so... Insane... I can't believe what that girl did to my hand..." Josh said softly, looking up at the girl. "I'm not even that upset that she missed it... Since she's coming on tour with us... It's just so her to try to help everyone..." Josh continued. He sighed, and looked at the girl. She was staring at the sky. He gave her a small smile when she looked back down at him, then he looked up at the dark sky and sighed. "I was more worried about her.. I thought maybe something happened, and she had to leave... I was also upset because she assumed things about me..." Josh said quietly, pain touching his words as he thought of what his mother had said to him.

-X- Josh sighed as she continued to talk, and looked at the glass door as he thought about what he would say. "I don't really want to talk to them right now... Matt can make me feel like such a bad person, when I only tried to do the right thing..." Josh said. He glanced up as he heard her move, and his eyes widened as she walked away. He stood up and held out his hand, as if he was going to reach out and stop her. "Wait... Can you stay? I'd uh... I'd really like to be able to talk to someone that doesn't know me... That doesn't know me at all... Someone that doesn't have to spend everyday with me..." Josh said, sighing as he realized how needy, and desperite he probably sounded. He sat back down and sighed. Who would want to sit there and listen to a famous musician moan and complain about how awful his life was. He felt tears build in his eyes once more as he thought about how spoiled he was acting.

-X- Josh looked up, seeing she was still standing there, he quickly wiped his eyes and smiled at her once more. "I'm Josh, by the way... Was that you singing?" He asked, mentally kicking himself once the words left his mouth. Of course it was her, who else could it be? He stared back at the sky, wishing that it would just swallow him up, and spew him out to a better day. When Matt wasn't mad at him, and his mother didn't think he was egotistical. When his voice wasn't coming out all cracked and whiny, and when people liked him for his personality and music, not his looks, or fame. He began humming the tune to "Good to You" quietly, staring down at the white semi-circle on the tips of his converse.

Hayden hadn't expected him to talk to her at all, much less forgive her for anything. She stopped in mid-step/jump and turned again. She chuckled at his speech about Matt, but sobered quickly. She stood in the same place for a moment, debating whether she should return or take a seat and make an aquaintance. She shrugged, and took his outstretched hand for extra support as she made her way back over to her spot by the bench and re-seated herself.

Hayden was processing the last part, about talking to someone he doesn't know at all, and when she finally took in his introduction, went brick red. Covering her face with her hands to hide her embarrassment, she thought wildly, No way! He heard me?? Oh no... Hayden nodded, and peeking through parted fingers, she mumbled, "Um, could you plese forget about the singing...? I'm not that great so it's really embarrassing." Pulling her hands away from her face, still a bit red, she drew in a breath to calm down. Then she snapped her eys open, and held out her hand formaly for Josh to shake. "It's nice to meet you, Josh. I'm Hayden," she stated, trying to sound confident (and utterly failing). Hayden was impressed that he didn't just expect her to know his name, and introduced himself. Although she did know his name and occupation, Hayden most certainly did not know him, and it really irritated her went fan girls claimed they 'loved' the bassist of so-and-so group, or they wanted to marry who-ever of what-ever. "Ok, so...um...What did you want to talk about?"

-X- Josh laughed and took her outstretched hand in his own. "It's wonderful to meet you Hayden." He said. He stared down at his hand, blood soaking through the towel again. He sighed and dropped his hand by his said and smiled at her again. "Anything..." He said calmly. Then he thought back to the way be had acted in the dressing room. He looked straight into her eyes, his own eyes sparkling in the moonlight and took a deep breath. "I want to... apologize. I was a little bit rude to you... In the dressing room. My words came out harsher then I meant them to." He said softly. Then he raised an eyebrow at her and sighed. "Everyone thinks they're terrible singers. I did to, actually. My mom gave me vocal lessons since I was really little, so I've had tons of practice." He said, laughing as his voice cracked. "However... You weren't bad. You were actually good." Josh said, blushing as he realized she was blushing, although he didn't know how her red cheeks had triggered his own.

-X- Josh looked up at the sky once more, and then quietly began to sing, forgetting Hayden was there momentarily. "Everyone's around, no words are coming out. And I can't find my breath, can we just say the rest with no sound? I know it's not enough, I still don't measure up. I know I'm not prepared; Sorry's never there, when you need it. And I do, want you to know I'll hold you up, above everyone one. And I do, want you to know; I think you'd be good to me, and I'd be soo good to you" He sang softly, singing merely for the purpose of filling the silence. He blushed as he realized he had just sung one of his most personal songs in front of Hayden, whom he barely knew.

-X- He cleared his throat, and rubbed the back of his neck, letting out a small laugh as he looked at her. "Sorry... I've um... I've just been having some... er... Issues lately. That song kind of makes me feel... Whats the word?" He muttered, hoping he didn't look mentally unstable. "Stronger? No, no... More optimistic, about the... Uh... Certain troubles" He said, feeling uncomfortable suddenly. Chatting was one thing, but unloading his long list of problems on her, might not be the best way to begin, and possibly end their first conversation.

Hayden laughed along with him as they shook hands, feeling a bit silly. He answered her question with a mysterious "Anything," and Hayden stared up at him expectantly. Then Josh did something Hayden wouldn't expect from anybody she knew for less than an hour, he apologized sincerely. "I want to... apologize. I was a little bit rude to you... In the dressing room. My words came out harsher then I meant them to," he began, staring up at the sky. Hayden nodded, "It's fine. You probably thought I was some stalker-fanatic, so I understand." She listened quietly as Josh commented on her singing, though, still selfconcious about it. The scarlet returned to her cheeks. "You weren't bad. You were actually good," he added, his face as red as hers. She nervously fiddled with her bandage again and muttered, "Um..thanks..." not really sure where to look.

Hayden was still staring at her leg when Josh started singing. It was a new song, probably, Hayden certainly hadn't heard it before. It had a wonderful beginning, the tune lead artistfully into a bridge. The lyrics moved her with such furver, Hayden was positive Josh had written it himself. To pur out all that was bottle up inside of himself. She closed her eyes and drowned herself in the song. It was about isolation, or loneliness. No one understood, life went on for everyone but him, and he longed for that life. He didn't feel, was it worthy? No, it was...wanted. Needed. Cared for. Like everyone was a fake, and he was...alone. She resurfaced when Josh stopped, and realized she had tears in her eyes.

"Sorry... I've um... I've just been having some... er... Issues lately. That song kind of makes me feel... Whats the word? Stronger? No, no... More optimistic, about the... Uh... Certain troubles," Josh said, flustered. Hayden quickly wiped her eyes and smiled encouragingly. "No, I thought it was wonderful. You wrote that, didn't you?" she asked, wanting to hear more. She hummed as she remembered the tune. "Song writing is a great why to handle issues. I wrote poetry when I was little, and it gave me time to stop and think about my thoughts and feelings, it gave me time to sort things out. But it...it doesn't make them go away. I always ended up having to talk to someone before it was off my chest," Hayden added, looking up at Josh again. "...Go on, please. That is, if you want to...I mean.." she said hastily, feeling like she over-stepped her boundaries.

-X- Josh smiled and laughed at her fanatic comment. "I actually didn't think that. I actually have no idea what I thought. The only thing going through my mind was 'Pain, pain, girl, pain, pain.'" He said, giggling at the end of his stupid sentence. He blushed when he realized how idiotic he sounded, and played with the end of his tie. He looked up as she said thanks, and noticed she had an uncomfortable look on her face. Instead of just ignoring the look, he sat up straight, and put his hand lightly on her arm. "I hadn't meant to make you uncomfortable. I was just being honest" He said softly, quickly dropping his hand from her arm, and turned his body so that he was facing straight ahead of him. He looked at the sky, hoping he hadn't made things worse.

-X- Once Josh had finished singing he looked over at Hayden, and realized she was crying. "Hey, hey, woah. That wasn't because of me, or anything I said, right?" He said anxiously, and softly. Then she asked if he had writen it, and blushed, realizing she had been crying over the song. He gave her a compliment, why would she start crying? "Yeah... I wrote it. I write all of our songs, with a bit of help here and there." He said, then he looked at a broken tree branch as he listened to her speak, and gave her a small smile once she stopped. "That's exactly why I do it... A part of the reason why our songs all have different meanings, is because each song is about a different experiance. Something that happened in our lives, that helped make us, us, and something that... Hurt at one time but eventually made us stronger. I'm hoping what's happening with me, will make me stronger... I wish I could be more like Mike, and Ian..." Josh said quietly, thinking about his strong, smart friends, who knew exactly what they wanted from life. Matt was better than Josh, but only a little bit. They were both weaker, and more naive then Ian, and Mike, but only because the other two had more life experiance then them. Josh looked up at Hayden, hoping he hadn't rambled to much. He laughed and ran his un-injured hand through his hair. "I would, but its a duet, and I'd sound like a total hot dog singing it by myself" Josh said, laughing as he thought of his lyric book in his suitcase on the tour bus.

Hayden was very grateful to Josh, who was much more sensitive to others' than they were to him, she realized. No wonder he wrote songs like he just sang. She smiled sheepishly when he noticed she had tears in her eyes and freaked out. He was a normal guy after all. She giggled then, almost forgetting where she was and what condition her body was in. She quieted when he confided in her why he wrote his songs, glad she had someone to relate to for once. "Y'know, you're, what, eighteen? You've just begun your career, so I wouldn't compare myself to Mike and Ian if I were you. They, I don't know...they're not like you somehow. Everyone is different, and there is no use in comparing yourself to others, because that will only make you unhappy. It will only leave you wishing, nevre progressing and suceeding. What you just said testifies to that," Hayden said, trying to explain exactly what she thought. She couldn't quite find the words, and so gave up.

She stared at her shoelace as he explained that the new song she'd heard was a duet and he'd silly singing it by himself. That surprised Hayden, and she asked about it. "That...that was a duet? Do you remember the rest of it, then? she asked, trying to figure out what it would sound like. She entertained herself by imagining a smooth and high female voice mixed in with Josh's soft bass. She couldn't do it. Tired out lying on the floor, Hayden attempted to stand. She stumbled down again before she'd even stood up properly, the pain in her leg reminding her of that night's previous events.

Then Hayden remembered her situation with getting home. Forgetting about her questions for Josh for the moment, she turned to him and held out her hands pleadingly. she ranted, freaking out again. When she finally managed to get to her feet, with her silver cane for support, Hayden began stumbling toward the glass door again. "I had a wonderful time, Josh, but I really need to figure out how I'm getting home. So, I have to get home now. I'm sorry I couldn't talk longer..." she said over her shoulder, going as fast as she could hobble toward the door.

-X- Josh laughed and smiled at Hayden. "I guess you're right.." He said. Then he noticed Hayden struggling to get up, and jumped up from the bench to help her up. His face fell a bit when Hayden said she had to go, but he quickly recovered and caught up to her as she hobbled toward the door. "Here, let me help" Josh said, stopping her gently with his hand. Then, beign careful not to jostle her leg too much, he picked her up, and carried her from the room, and down the dark hallways. Josh didn't say anything as he carried Hayden through the hallways, just focusing on where he was going, and was pretty sure he knew where he was going, when his mother popped out from around a corner, scarying Josh. "Jeez..." He muttered, shifting Hayden carefully in his arms. "What are you doing? Joshua, put her down" His mother said, closing the distance between them. "I'm helping her. Did you get a car for her?" Josh asked, walking past his mother. She caught up to them and put her hand on Josh's arm. "I did get a car, yes. It's out beside the tour bus. But please honey, put her down" His mother pleaded. Josh rolled his eyes and walked past her again, still not even looking at Hayden.

-X- Josh turned as he came up to the side door, and pushed it open using his back, then carefully slid out of the door, making sure Hayden didn't get hit. Then he carried her over to a sleek black car that was idling by the plain white tour bus. He put Hayden gently down beside the black car, giving her a small smile. "Uh.. Bye" He said, then he turned and began walking away. He turned once more, back to Hayden and rubbed the back of his neck. "Hey um... The drivers name is Barry... If you need anything, just ask him. You're his boss for the rest of the night" Josh said, before turning back, and stepping onto the tour bus, without even another word to Hayden. He walked down the clean hall of the tour bus, looking at the couches, and kitchen area as he passed them "Matt's making a McD's run. Want anything?" Mike asked Josh. Josh looked up from his shoes and smiled at Mike. "Tell him to get me whatever. I'm going to take a shower, and just chill with Lucy for a bit" Josh said, walking past Mike towards a narrow door marked "Josh". He opened the door and looked around his tiny room. With a sigh, he pulled off his shirt, giving Lucy a quick smile when she meowed at him. Then he grabbed a towel off the bed, and made his way to the bus's one small bathroom.

-X- Josh felt relieved when he got in the shower. He turned the water, so that it was just a little bit hotter then warm, but not was hot as he usually had it. He lingered under the water, letting it splash against his skin. By the time he got out, he felt relaxed and clean. He pulled on his pajama bottoms, and rubbed the towel against his hair, causing it to stick up in every direction. Then he rolled on his deoderant, and opened the bathroom door. He stumbled back to his room, where Lucy still lay, curled up on his pillow. He sighed and dropped his towel in the laundry hamper his mother had left in his room. He sat down on the bed, and Lucy got up, and rubbed her head against his arm. He pet her head, and looked up as he heard a knock on the door. "Yeah?" He called. Matt opened the door, a bag of McDonalds in his hand. "We started moving a while ago... I tried to come in and leave your food, but Lucy hissed at me." He said, handing Josh the bag. Josh nodded and put the food down beside him. "Wanna talk?" Matt asked Josh. Josh looked at Lucy, then the bag, then his pillow, then Matt. "Tomorrow. I'm uh... I'm just going to eat, and then get some rest" Josh said. Matt nodded, obviously taking what Josh had said personally, and closed the door. Josh sighed and turned on the small lamp that was attached to the frame of his bed, then stood up, and turned off the over head light. Josh sat on the bed, giving Lucy little bits of his french fries as he ate, replying everything that had happened that night. Ian had left some first aid stuff on Josh's bed, which Josh had carefully used to wrap up his hand, which had thankfully stopped bleeding.

-X- Once Josh had finished eating, he put all his garbage into the paper bag his meal had come in, and walking out into the main part of the bus. His mother sat on one of the sofa's reading a book, and looked up at him as he walked past her. "Josh, honey?" She said, as he walked past her again. Josh stopped and turned to her. "Mm?" He murmured She sighed and closed her book. "Can we talk?" She asked. Josh sighed, and turned to continue walking. "I'm actually really tired, so maybe tomorrow" Josh said. His mother sighed. "Josh, wait. Honey, I understand that you're upset with me.. But I want to apologize. I dealt with every situation wrong. I shouldn't have accused you of doing things, and I shouldn't have helped the young woman. I should have just stayed where I was, and watched you" She said. Josh stopped walking and turned. "You think I'm upset with you for helping Hayden?" He asked her, disbelief colouring his tone. "Hayden?" His mother asked. Josh shook his head. "The girl you helped. Mom.. I was never mad at you for helping her, or missing the concert. I wasn't even mad. I was worried. Those crowds can get so out of hand, and when I saw you just weren't there, I thought something happened to you" Josh said, turning around and walking swiftly back to his room, before she could say anything back. Once he was in his room once more, he picked up Lucy, and then climbed into bed, snuggling against his cat as he thankfully welcomed sleep to wash over him.

Hayden was surprised when Josh walked up and picked her up, princess style. She stared up at him in disbelief for a moment, mouth hanging open. Finally looking away, she busied herself with counting the doors they passed, distracting herself. They walked down three corridors, passed four windows, and went through six doors before Josh's mother rounded a corner and stopped them, startling both Hayden and her carrier. She looked only at Josh as she spoke, and demanded that Josh replace Hayden on the floor. Hayden wondered what was wrong with him helping her out, but remained silent, not wanting to miss any information about her ride. Josh refused his mother's demands, mearly rolling his eyes and walking passed her out the door to the back parking lot, where the car that Hayden would be taken home in was ready beside the band's tour bus.

A door was open, waiting for a rider and Josh carried Hayden to the car and gently eased her in. She gave a tiny wave to the man looking at her front the rearview mirror named Barry, giggling at the hthought of being someone's boss for a day. She turned back to thank Josh, but he was gone already, rounding the corner to enter his tour bus. She smiled and drew in a breath, then shouted at the closest window to here seat, "Thank you!" then buckled herself in and shut the door, with some difficulty.

Mr. Barry tipped his head to her politely, and said, "Evening, Miss...? Where are we going today?" She obliged to tell him her name, and said that she had to stop by motel first. Mr. Barry nodded and stepped on the gas, and it was all but three minutes before they pulled up in front of her motel room. Her driver patiently helped her out of the car and up the metal step to her room. Hayden scrambled about for her belongings. Her toothbrush and comb where in the bathroom, along with yesterdays clothing and a complimentary mint. Thrusting everything into her duffel bag, which she had stored under the bed, she zipped it closed and glanced about, looking to see if she had missed anything. Everything looked as it had when Hayden had first stepped into the room, and she nodded in personal approval. Throwing around the muffin paper as she struggled to the door, she handed Mr. Barry her bag and waited as he walked down the steps and placed it in the trunk of the black vehicle. That's when Hayden spotted Sam's truck parked right beside it, and another man sitting in the driver's seat. Whew, I almost forgot Sam's car. Good, at least I don't have anything to explain later, she thought, closing the motel room behind her as Mr. Barry returned and helped her into the lobby, where she checked out.

Finally back into her seat and Mr. Barry in the driver's, he turned and asked again, "Ok, Miss Hayden, where to now?" She smiled shyly, but countered "Um, I live in Greenbrier, sir. Do you know where that is? Mr. Barry must have found that amusing, because then he laughed. "Yes, ma'am. My sister lives there, so I'll have you there by midnight," he said, choking back another round of laughter. What's so funny? Well...nevermind. Is it really that late, though? My dad'll be worried sick...Hayden thought, studying her driver a bit suspiciously. Well, it's 9:25 right now, so it'll be a while before I get home. Might as well get settled in. Lifting with both hands, Hayden moved her left leg onto the seat from the floor and layed it out across the other seats. Leaning back, she rested her head on the window and stared out of the one across from her. Folding her hands across her stomach, Hayden finally wsa nestled in a comfortable position, and closed her eyes, ignoring the dull throb her knee gave off from the recent exercise.

Hayden didn't know when she fell asleep, or for how long she was out, but it seemed like only minutes later that Mr. Barry was calling her to wake up. "Miss Hayden, wake up now, we're entering Greenbrier." Hayden jolted awake then, and sat up. Rubbing her eye, she look out her window with the other and saw the familiar sillouete of trees as they passed by. "Can you give directions to your home from here?" Mr. Barry continued. Hayden nodded, "Ok, um...make a right at the next light. Conitnue down the road until you come to Sunset Drive, where you make another right. Then look for number 2411 on the left side of the street," she answered groggily. It took all of five minutes for Barry to turn onto her street and pull up in front of Hayden's house, a small white building with red brick steps leading to the wide wooden porch.

Mr. Barry stepped out of the car and politely opened the door for her while the man driving Samantha's car got out and popped the trunk open, hualing Hayden's duffel bag to the porch. Leaing on Mr. Barry all the way up the steps, Hayden pulled her keys out of her pocket, fumbling for a moment with the lock on the door. She finally managed to open the door, and everyone stepped inside. The man from Sam's car dropped the keys into Hayden's hand and nodded, placing her bag by the door and exiting to the black car. Mr. Barry stayed to help her to the top of the stairs, where he tipped his hat again and smiled. "It was a pleasure serving you, Miss Hayden. I hope your injury heals quickly," he said, and headed down the stairs and out the door. About to close it, Hayden stopped him by saying,"Thank you so much, sir. I really appreciate all your help." He smiled again, and shut the door. Hayden didn't leave to her room until sh heard the engine start in the the black car, but then she used the railing to help her to her room.

Not bothering with changing into pajamas, Hayden slowly worked her way to the bed, where she sank down and sighed. Sjhe was so worn out, so much had happened that day. Not even moving under the covers, Hayden fell into a deep sleep. She didn't dream, her body was too tired to even do that.

_________ ...Don't you ever tell me I'm not loving you best.

-X- Something banged, causing Josh to wait up. He looked around the room, and could only see the highway zooming past him, through his small window. He rubbed his eyes and looked around the room. Lucy looked up at him, who was curled up on the end of his bed. "Hey baby..." He said, sitting up to pet her head. A small knock on the door caused Josh to jump a little. "Yeah?" he called. Matt opened the door and smiled. "Uhh... Your mom made pan cakes. Mike is seriously about to eat them all so... If you wanted some you should get some now" Matt said, closing the door again. Josh sighed and climbed out of bed, rubbing his eyes as he walked to his unopened suitcase. He unzipped it and pulled out a t-shirt from past tours, and pulled it on, them made it way through the tour bus to the kitchen. He walked in, and sat down at the small table beside Matt. Everyone looked away as Josh helped himself to the food, obviously finding the walls more interesting then him. "What?" Josh asked as he poured syrup on the mound of steaming pancakes in front of him. Everyone turned back to him, giving him carefull smiles, before taking long sips of coffee. Josh groaned and rested his head on the back of his chair. "Whaaaat?" Josh asked once more, whining slightly as he spoke. His mother walked over and poured coffee in a blue mug placed in front of Josh, giving him another smile. "I suppose everyone is just being a little cautious around you today, hon" She said. Josh stared at the mug in disbelief, as everyone went back to staring at the walls. "Why? What'd I do?" Josh asked, standing up as Lucy walked over to him, and began meowing. "I guess everyone is afraid to talk because... Like... One wrong thing and you could turn around and be like 'Falcon PAWNCH' and kill us all" Matt said. Josh turned around, container of cat food in hand and stared at Matt. "Why, because I had a bad day yesterday?" Josh asked, a little bit miffed that everyone thought he had such a short temper. If anything, he had the smallest temper problem out of all of them.

-X- Josh poured food into Lucy's bowl, then picked up his plate, and his mug and made his way to his room, slamming the door behind him. If they were going to play it that way, so was he. Matt sighed, and put his head down against the table. "Well now we've done it..." Matt mumbled into the table cloth. Ian stood up, and put his hand on Matt's back. "No my friend... You've done it." Ian said , making his way to his own room. Josh's mother sighed, and sat down beside Matt, placing her hand gently on his arm. "I don't know what's going on with that boy lately, but he seems to be really sensitive. Just... Watch what you say." She said gently. Matt looked up, an angry look on his face. "So, just because Josh is having some weird life problem s**t going on, means that we all have to treat him like some ******** princess? Why can't he just suck it up like everyone else does. Why the hell should we all have to be cautious of what we say, and his feelings? Just because he's all creative, and soulfull? That's bullshit. If he wants to leave the band, he can. No one is stopping him. The rest of us can sing fine, let him take his whiny s**t elsewhere" Matt shouted, before storming away from the table as well. Except, instead of going to his room, he went to Josh's and banged on the door, not even waiting until Josh gave him confirmation to enter, before barging in. Matt closed his eyes as he spoke, not wanting to look at Josh. "I hope you heard what I said. If you can't handle this, then leave. The band will go one without you. You aren't even that great of a singer, at least not will all the bullshit you carry with you. If you're going to start acting like a sensitive, soulfull, d**k head, then leave, because no one wants to deal with that" Matt said, finally opening his eyes to look at Josh, who sat cross legged on his bed, with his lyric book open. He stared at Matt, wide eyes. "Uh" Josh said. Looked looked down as Lucy, who walked past Matt. She meowed, and Matt continued to stare at Lucy.

-X- Matt sighed and sat down next to Josh, who was staring at his lyric book. "Josh I uh... I'm sorry. Wait no. I'm not sorry. Because if I said I was sorry, then I'd be doing exactly what your mom said" Matt said, feeling a little bit weak, and like a jerk, for yelling at his best friend. Josh looked up, meeting eyes with Matt for only a moment, before looking back at his lyric book. "Well, now that you've gotten that out of the way... What did my mom say?" Josh asked, his voice sounding emotionless. "She said that we have to watch what we say around you..." Matt said, his tone sounding defeated. Josh nodded. "Don't act any different around me..." Josh said quietly. Matt sighed. "It's kind of hard not to.. You're being so sensitive, and taking everything so personal..." Matt said. Josh scoffed at him, and began doodling in the margin of his lyric book. "I am not. Yesterday was just a bad day..." Josh said. Matt sighed and folded, and unfolded his hands in his lap. "What about breakfast? About.. er... Five minutes ago?" Matt asked. Josh half smiled and closed his book. "I just didn't want to eat breakfast with people that refused to even look at me..." Josh said. Matt smiled at him, and put his hand on Josh's shoulder. "Makes sense... Sorry for yelling at you. I guess I've been a little bit sensitive to... You're an amazing singer, and an amazing person... I didn't mean what I said... I was angry" Matt said said. Josh smiled and punched Matt's arm. "Me to" Josh said. Matt smiled back. "Falcon Pawnch?" Matt asked, punching Josh's arm back. "Mhmm. Now go away. I'm writing" Josh said, giving Matt a smile, as he walked from the room.

-X- A few hours later, Josh emerged from his room, fully dressed and ready for anything fans may have thrown his way. He walked to his mother, giving her a big hug, smiling as he pulled away. "I love you mom" He said. "I love you to, baby. Don't forget that" She said, smiling back. Then he sat down beside Matt, and watched the news with him. Josh groaned as a clip from the concert played on the news. "Deja vu?" Matt asked, as the camera showed Josh bending down on stage, speaking to the girl in the front row, then him running off stage. He sighed and looked out the window, seeing a few buildings and small. "Where are we?" Josh asked. Matt shrugged and changed the channel. "Beats me. But we are close to our destination, which gives us some tourist time" Matt muttered as he continued to flip through channels. Josh focused on the t.v. until Matt's voice brought him back from his thoughts. "Hey so, who was that girl from last night? You both disapeared. Was there some serious making out going on?" Matt asked, gaining Josh a strange look from his mother. "Her name was Hayden... And nothing happened, we just talked." Josh said. Matt crossed his arms. "If I were you? I would have totally made out with her. She was hot" Matt said. Josh laughed and patted Matt's shoulder. "And that's why you aren't me." Josh said, earning himself a smile from Matt.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* Goooooood morning, good morning! It's 10 o'clock am on this lovely Saturday morning. The sun is shining, the birds are si-

A pale arm shot out and slapped the off button on the alarm clock on the night stand. Hayden, rubbing the remaints of a dream from her eyes, slowly sat up and shook her head, trying to wake herself up. Attempting to swing her legs out of bed, as she did every morning, Hayden felt a sharp, searing pain race up her leg from her knee. Crying out for the pain, Hayden gently rubbed the injury she'd forgotten she had, and slowly eased herself to her feet. The swelling had gone down a lot, but when Hayden peeled back a part of the bandage, a dark purple and yellow splotch covered the entire area around the knee. Wincing, she replaced the bandage and limped to the bathroom, brushed her hair, then slowly made her way downstairs.

Hayden finally worked her way to the kitchen, where Mitch, as always, was already up about about, busy making breakfast. Today it was scrambled eggs, and the smell was mouthwatering. Her dad smiled when he saw her, and motioned her her to take a seat. "'Morning, kid-o! How was the concert? You got home pretty late last-" he cheerfully began, but stopped cold when he noticed Hayden's injured knee. Looking back up at Hayden, he coldly asked,"What happened to your knee?" She shivered at his gaze, she wasn't used to her father's angry. "W-well, while I was at the concert I tripped on something. I banged myself up pretty bad, huh?" she stammered. Desperate to change the subject, she stumbled to the table and sniffed at the rolls there. "Oh, biscuits! You're the best, dad!" Mitch looked unimpressed, crossing his arms and holding his death-stare. "Hayden, I thought I told you to take better care of yourself! What about Sam? Wasn't she there to make sure you didn't kill yourself?" he questioned worriedly. Hayden stared at her empty plate and mumbled, "She...couldn't make it. Her grandmother died," she reminded her that she needed to call Sam to see if she was ok. Mitch sighed and wiped his brow, a sure sign that he was dropping it. Hayden conituned to stare at her plate as her dad dished a small helping of eggs to her. She started eating mechanically, feeling a little guilty. Her dad worried about her constantly, and she knew how horrible he felt everytime something happened to her. Hayden was always very fragile, so Mitch had been overprotective for the longest time.

She finished eating quickly, and limped upstairs quietly, not wanting to make things any worse with her dad. Once in her room, she fumbled around in her still unpacked duffel bag for her cell phone. When she located it, Hayden dialed Sam's cell, absently humming to some tune she couldn't quite remember where she'd heard. ...Hey...That's pretty good. What song was that?" Startled, Hayden realized that Sam had picked up, and was listening. "Oh, um, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm sure I heard it at the concert last night," Hayden answered, thinking back to the previous night. "Oh, so...How was the concert?" Hayden felt guilty as she relayed all that had happened to her knee to Sam, disappointed in herself for not listening to the whole performance. She continued to explain her conversation with Josh, and she finally remember where she'd heard that wonderful song. "Hey, that was the song he was singing! I remember now.." Sam quietly listened throughout Hayden's tale, and when she was through, was silent for a moment. "...Wow. Hayden, do you realize what you just said? You had a normal, heart-to-heart conversation with Josh Ramsay, and even got him to carry you princess style to a private limo. You..you've lived any fan's dream!" Sam exclaimed, nearly busting Hayden's ear drums through the phone. Rolling her eyes, Hayden scoffed. "Y'know, I love his music, and Josh is a normal guy. I'm just lucky that he was nice enough to help me out. I was totally helpless last night.

No matter how Hayden tried to convince Sam otherwise, her friend kept ranting about how lucky she was, how she wished she was there, how it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, ect. Hayden got sick of it pretty quickly, and attempted to change the subject numerous times. Sam wasn't detered, though, and she rambled on and on. Hayden couldn't take much more of her fanaticing, and made an excuse to hang up. "Um, Sam? As fun as this chat has been, I'm in a lot of pain. My knee feels like it's about to combust, so I'm going to go. Talk to ya later, girl," she spoke hastily, waiting only for Sam's short 'buhbye' before hanging up. Sighing, Hayden flopped back down on her bed and stared at the ceiling.

-X- Josh jumped off the bus the minute it stopped, and immediatly started jogging on the spot. "How can your legs be cramped? The bus is pretty big. You could've run up and down the stairs if you wanted to" Matt said, slipping out of the bus behind Josh. Josh turned and looked at him. "It's not that they're cramped. It's that I felt the need to hear the sound of my feet against solid pavement" Josh muttered, smiling as his nostrils filled with fresh air. "I hate tour buses" Ian muttered as he stepped on the bus, Mike nodding in agreement behind him. Then Josh's mother stepped off, and smiled at the four boys. "You boys go look around a little" She said, handing them each large pairs of sunglasses. They each took one, then messed up their hair. "But, what about the stuff? We have to bring it into the hall, get it set up, do sound check..." Josh said, glaring at Matt as he reached over to mess up Josh's hair some more. "I can bring everything inside. You boys have a good few hours to look around, before you can do sound check. You only need about half an hour to get ready for the show, and another half hour for sound check, and equiptment check. So go have fun. But be back by four o'clock!" Josh's mother said, giving stern looks to all the boys. "Yes Ma'am" Ian said, walking off towards the local starbucks. "Yes Ma'am" Mike said, joining Ian. "Yes Ma'am" Matt said, grinning at Josh. "Yes Mom" Josh said, smiling back at Matt, before making their way towards a small market.

-X- "So, what did you talk about with Hayden?" Matt asked, having to think a moment before he could remember her name. How much I wish I were like you, or Ian Josh thought to himself. Josh stared at his shoes, and only looked up when Matt hit his arm. "Hello? Earth to Josh? What'd you and Hayden talk about?" He asked. Josh blushed and ran his fingers through his hair, causing it to stand up. "Nothing really. Just the song mostly" Josh muttered, before stepping into a small souvenir store. "What song? Good to You?" Matt asked, looking through a box of rocks with faces on them. "Yeah.. I just sang part, and she asked me to sing all of it, but I told her I couldn't" Josh said, pawing through racks of t-shirts that said "I've been to Whistler" across the front. "Why couldn't you? I mean... You could have just asked her to sing it with you." Matt said, walking over to Josh. "I didn't think about it" Josh said, as he picked up a white t-shirt that just said "Whistler" across it. "Why are you buying that?" Matt asked, as he followed Josh up to the cash register. "Because. I've decided that I want to buy a t-shirt from every place we go on tours. And if we go there multiple times, I can buy multiple t-shirts. Then when we retire, I can go back through my shirts and say "I've been to Whistler, eight times. Toronto six times, and Regina seven times" Josh explained, as he gave the man some money, happy for the subject change. "I should do that. I'll get rocks from every city we go to" Matt said, picking up a small rock with the words "Whistler" on it, along with two googly eyes and a goofy smile. Josh shook his head as Matt paid for it, then walked out of the store. "Can we get something to drink?" Josh asked, spying a small cafe across the street. Matt nodded, and checked the road, before dashing across, Josh right behind him.

-X- They entered the small cafe, happy that it was empty, and stepped over to the counter. "Can I have a hazel nut cappuccino, with whipped cream please?" Josh asked, pulling off his sunglasses. The barista gasped, and gave Josh a smile, then went off to make his drink. "Smart. You should have waited until we got to the table before taking them off. Can I have the same thing as him?" He called to the barista, who was giggling behind the cappuccino machine. "So, what should we do with the rest of our time?" Josh asked. Matt looked thoughtful for a minute, then pulled a couple of bills from his wallet. "We could go around the city looking for CD stores. Matt said, handing the girl money once she brought them their coffee. "No, no. It's on the house" She said, smiling at the boys. Matt shrugged and picked up both coffee's, carrying them to a small table at the back. "Okay, now why should we go around looking for CD stores?" Josh asked, smiling as he took a sip of his coffee. "Dude, these are freaking amazing" Matt said, taking a few more sips of his own beverage. "I know. Now answer my question." Josh said, taking a another drink from his paper cup. "Mm. See how many stores actually carry our CD's. Y'know, all the Vancouver stores are always advertising them and stuff.. Especially when we do shows. We should see how many stores do that" Matt said, licking whipped cream off his finger. Josh frowned and stared at his cup. "Why? We'd look so stuck up. 'Oh look at us, look at us. We're going around seeing how famous and popular we are. Look at us' Puh-lease. I'd rather just walk around a mall, without a disquise." Josh said, picking up his coffee. Matt sighed. "Fine. Lets do that then" Matt said, licking more whipped cream off his finger. Josh scoffed at him. "It was a joke, I wouldn't ever want to do that. Although, shopping sounds fun" Josh said. Matt nodded, and looked up as the barista walked over with a plain black note book in her hands. "Um. Excuse me. Mr.Ramsay, Mr.Webb. I uh.. I don't mean to bother you, but uh. Could I have your autographs?" She asked quietly. Josh smiled at her and took the book from her hands, as well as the pen. "Whats your name?" He asked her. "Marissa" She said, blushing as Josh smiled at her. Then he wrote "Marissa. You make the best coffee in all of Whistler. Love, Josh R." Then he handed the book to Matt, who smirked the minute the book was in his hand, and began to write. "Hot cafe girl. Keep it real. Love Matt Webb" Then he handed the book back to her, and smirked at Josh. "What'd you write?" Josh asked. Matt chuckled and took a long sip from his coffee. "Enough, apperantly" Matt said, as they both heard squeals from the back of the cafe somewhere. Josh shook his head and smiled, then stood up. "Ready?" Josh asked, as he messed up his hair some more. Matt nodded and stood up, then they both put on their sunglasses, and stepped out of the cafe.

-X- After a lot of walking, and map checking, the boys finally found themselves inside of the biggest mall in Whistler. They walked around, going in and out of stores. "Duuude. Buy these pants" Matt said, holding up a pair of white slim fit jeans. Josh laughed and walked over to Matt, taking the pants from him, and putting them back on the rack. "I'd rather not look like a Jonas Brother, thanks" Josh said, before walking back to the rack he had been looking at before. Matt walkd up to him and pulled an extra small, black t-shirt off the rack. "What about this, Simon? Mr.Cowell? S.C?" Matt said, shoving the top at Josh. Josh smacked Matt's arm and put the shirt down, then pulled Matt out of the store. "Woah! Matt, we're late" Josh said, pulling him through the crowded mall. "We're late? For what? A very important date?" Matt asked, snickering at his own joke "No you idiot! For the sound check!" Josh said, continuing to pull Matt around. "Oh s**t! Your mom's gonna kill us. Run Josh, we have to run." Matt said, beginning to run ahead of Josh. Then they both began to run, only stopping when they hit the pavement outside of the mall. "Cab. We need a cab." Josh said, trying not to laugh as Matt began jumping around, waving his hands at cabs that passed. "Dicks. Josh, take off your sunglasses" Matt said, pulling his own off. Josh nodded and pulled his glasses off, then waved for a cab, smiling as three stopped. "Nice" Josh said, as he jogged over to the closest one, Matt right behind him. "Whistler concert hall. As fast as possible please" Matt said to the driver, who nodded and took off down the street.

Hayden sighed and glared at her brother with annoyance as he slurped the last drops of his soda loudly. She rolled her eyes as he finished with a satisfied sigh, and turned to her dad. "Da-d, ple-ase do something about the Twerp. He's doing that on purpose," Hayden whined, wishing that her knee would miraculously heal so she wouldn't have to be seen sitting at the mall food court with Aiden. Rolling her eyes again as Aiden flashed an impish grin, Hayden looked to the ceiling in frustration. Mitch just shrugged, he thought it was just Hayden's 'teenage girl syndrome' as he called it. Hayden really didn't want to be there, but her dad had forced her to come. "Oh, c'mon! Me an' Aiden are just getting some burgers, and I can't ust leave you alone here. I can't be sure that you won't fall down the stairs and break your neck while I'm gone when you're in this condition. So you'll be coming with us, kapiche?" he'd said when Hayden protested to the trip. And now here she was, sitting in the mall food court with her slurping brother and belching father. Aiden had two McD's Big Macs and a large fry while Mitch ordered three. Both had scarfed them all down, while Hayden watched in disgust. She'd only ordered a chocolate milkshake, sipping it sparingly so she woldn't puke as the twerp stuck two frys up his nose, imagining he was a walrus.

Mitch and Aiden finished eating, and Aiden begged to go to Gamestop. Mitch didn't seem certain about what to do, though, because Hayden wanted to go check out Hot Topic and Pac Sun. He gave in to Aiden though, because he himself re-ally wanted to check out that new game out for xbox. As the twerp dragged him off, he turned and gave Hayden an apologetic look, then turned and caught up with his son as they disappeared into the regular Saturday-afternoon crowd. Hayden, feeling abandoned, decided to wait for the two to return. After all, she couldn't walk around the mall by herself without something for support, so she really couldn't leave. She stared at the ceiling again, miffed that Mitch was so easily suaded, and bored out of her mind. She looked around and sipped at her milkshake, playing I-spy with herself. At that moment, Stacy, miss snob-extrodinaire, and her group of bleach blonde croonies rounded a corner and filed into the food court. They lined up at some salad bar and filled their plates with sheets of lettuse and tiny carrots and tomatoes, chattering and gossiping to themselves. They carried their meals to the seating area, where Stacey spotted Hayden sitting by herself, glancing about boredly. With an evil smirk, she walked to Hayden's table and sat herself across from her. "Why, hello there Hayden. Isn't this a lovely surprise? What're you doing here sitting all alone?" Stacey sneered, feining kindness, though rather poorly. Hayden stared back at her complacently, knowing full well that Stacey was just making fun of her. Making a shocked expression, Stacey continued,"Oh, Hayden! Whatever is the problem? Ignoring people, are we? That's quite rude, you know." Her groupies giggled excessively. One piped up,"Don't waste your time Stace. You know she's just a stupid mute," resorting in more giggles from th crowd now surrounding Hayden's small table.

Hayden's stared darkened into a glare. "...Just go away, Stacey. Her head snapping back from toward Hayden after laughing with the groupies, Stacey's eyes narrowed. "You better watch what you say, mute. Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and you'll regret it. I'll make sure of it," she sneered back. Hayden just rolled her eyes. Hacked off, Stacey stood up suddenly, and made sure to bump Hayden's chair on her way to another table. The croonies followed, their stupid giggles following them. Hayden sighed with relief when Stacey was out of sight, grateful that she hadn't started a scene. Taking a final swig of her now soupy milkshake, Hayden clambered over to a trashcan and deposited it. When she reached her seat again, she sank down into it and layed her head on the table.

Just then, Aiden and Mitch returned from Gamestop, chatting animatedly about the halo game they played on demo. They approached their table again, and Hayden lifted her head wearily. "Hey, chick. We're back! And we played that new play-" Mitch started, although Hayden wasn't paying attention to anything after his first few words. Hayden stood up carefully, leaning on the complaining Aiden as they headed toward the mall exit. They left for home, with Hayden gazing irritedly out the window the entire time.
