Welcome to Gaia! ::

Sera kept her bottle of Bourbon that she had picked up and every now and then would pour herself a glass of it. She didn't understand Danny and she really wished that things could have just stayed how they were.
Who were these people attacking? She didn't understand and it was making her rather upset.
She had made sure that the sliding door to the balconey had been shut after she came out so that no one could hear her. She had hoped that the potent Bourbon would help, but it wasn't at the moment while she looked out over the streets.
She wanted to talk to Danny, but it seemed that Danny wasn't really in the mood to talk to her, so she just bottled herself up.
Danny thumbed through the directory for a while before he finally found the address of the military office. Now he just had to figure out how to find it, which he asked Bowen for some help, but it really didn't make matters better.
"Just catch a taxi instead of driving yourself," Bowen told him. "It'll be a lot easier for you and that way you won't have to drive through all this crazy traffic in a city you aren't familar with."
Danny nodded, supposing that was the best plan and jotting down the address started for the door, then stopped. He thought perhaps he should say goodbye to Sera, but then again she had shut herself out on the balconey. He decided not to bother her in the end and just asked Bowen to tell her where he had gone (if she asked) and that he would be back later. Then he bid his friend a brief farewell.
Sera reeked of Bourbon by the time she was finished, which she had only drank half of the bottle. It was a lot stronger than she had first imagined, so she stopped at half a bottle.
She had pretty much dried up her tears and finally came back inside, figuring that she could do with a bath.
She peered around for Danny a momemt, but discovered that he wasn't in. After spying Bowen, she asked him.
"Where's Danny?" she questioned quietly.
Bowen raised a brow whenever Sera immerged from the balcony and he inhaled a sharp draft of her sent.
"Said he was going to the military office, took a taxi," he told her. "He said he shouldn't be gone long, or at least that's probably what he hoped, but you'll find that short trips can take forever in a city like this." He paused a moment still looking at her. "Um...you okay?"

Danny quickly discovered that riding in a taxi wasn't any less stressful than actually driving yourself through the hectic and crowded speed levels of the city. What was more, the driver was very foreign and didn't speak English very well so Danny didn't understand half of what the man was saying. He was happy to finally reach the office in one piece though, and paid the driver without even thinking of change. He just wanted to get away.
Sera shrugged her shoulders, the Bourbon was beginning to work on her a little bit as she sat down.
"No," she finally answered as she peered toward the floor. "I just..." Sera stopped, trying to think of what it was she wanted to say. "It seemed like Danny and I could actually talk... before... but ever since we've left his house... he's been so quiet.. and... he doesn't talk to me like he did... I just... I'm afraid that he doesn't like me anymore... or that he's angry at me. We barely talked today and... he didn't even come to tell me where he was going... he just left... I think he's mad at me... and I don't want him to be mad at me..." she told Bowen. "B-but I don't know what to do... I mean... I really like Danny... he's the first boy that... that I've ever been comfortable around before... and he even took the time to get to know me... and now... I feel like he regrets it..."
This was a little awkward for Bowen and although his instinct was just telling him to turn around and run away, he felt bad at the thought of just leaving her there.
"Um...I dunno..." he muttered trying to think of something to say. "You...both seemed kinda moody...but I don't think he was mad about anything...I guess you'll just have to ask him when he gets back in. Maybe he's homesick..." Bowen shrugged again, not really knowing what else to say. He was never one for these sappy dramatic moment.

Danny had to wait for a while before he was able to get in to talk with anyone. When he asked about recruiting his answer was that No Man's Citys office wasn't looking for new recruits at the moment. Danny brought up the subject of war.
What war?
The war that wiped out an entire city just half a day's drive from you! What do you mean what war?
That was no war. Only a sandstorm.
Danny argued tirelessly that such and occurance had been much more than just a 'sandstorm.' The storm had been created by something that was not of nature and had killed thousands of innocent people. He had been there! He had seen it happen.
But it was only a matter of time before it seemed Danny had become too boistrous for their tastes and he was quickly thrown out.
Sera nodded her head.
"Okay," She said softly to Bowen and bit her bottom lip. She then peered up to Bowen a little more. "Thank you... for talking to me," she told him, for she knew that most of the time he didn't like to dabble in the middle of things, he seemed like a more recluse person and perhaps he liked it this way.
She sighed once more, knowing that Danny would be back soon. She went on into the kitchen and fixed herself a bagel, but put cheese and pepperoni on it. She then heated it and made two more, knowing that Danny might like one. Then she headed out to the balcony again to wait.
Two hours after his initial departure, Danny returned to the flat thouroughly frightened and disappointed.
"Can you believe them people," he mumbled gruffly, spotting Bowen on the couch. "Said there was no war! That the reason No Man's Land was destroyed was because of a sandstorm and nothing else. And they weren't even interested in sending help...or looking for survivors."
"Well my friend," Bowen sighed. "Welcomed to the city that coined the phrase 'Every man for himself.' All these people care about are themselves....By the way, Sera was looking for you. I told you her left."
Sera sat out on the balcony while she watched the vehicles zoom by. It was pretty much a dead silence with the door shut and she couldn't tell if she enjoyed the silence or not.
She kept Danny's snack covered so that it would stay warm, but she was afraid that if he took any longer that it would be cold by the time he returned. It hit her just then that she should have used a little tomato paste under the cheese. But she didn't think her's was dry...
Well, if Danny really wanted tomato paste, then he could put it on top.
She sighed as she pulled her knees up by her chest and sat her feet on the edge of the chair. She hugged her legs and continued to watch the traffic.
Bowen pointed Danny to the balconey where he had last seen Sera before plopping back down upon the couch to finish watching his television show. It was obvious he didn't want to get pulled into their drama so Danny let him be and made his way out onto the balconey, sliding the door open and stepping through before closing it again. It was the first time he had noticed that day that he hadn't seen Mitzy, but perhaps Miss Rose had taken the little beast with her that day.
He smiled softly at her before sitting down.
"What's goin' on," he inquired.
Sera peered up as she heard the door slide open and then saw Danny come through. She smiled up at him.
"Not much," she admitted. "I made you a snack," she pointed out. She uncovered the two pizza bagels and then offered them to him, hoping that he was hungry. Danny had an unusual appetite for a man, or at least she believed so.
"And... I wanted to apologize... if I made you mad or anything," she said as she hugged her legs a little tighter. "You've been really quiet lately and... I wasn't sure if I had offended you ... or something..."
She tried to relax a little as she let one of her legs back down so that her foot could touch the floor, but she kept the other for a prop.
Danny peered down at he bagels with some interest, never having really seen anything like it, but he took one and he thanked her as he bit into it. He had to admit it was very good. He had never tasted something like this before. Then her apology sort of put him off guard.
"Oh...well...there's no need to apologize," he told her. "I haven't meant to be...so bound up, I guess." Which in his opinion he hadn't belived himself reclusive so much over the past few days as he was just today really. "I guess I've just been...thrown for a loop, is the best I can say. I'm real slow...so I s'pose it just takes some gettin' used to."
Sera didn't entirely understand what he meant by 'thrown for a loop' but she wouldn't question him either.
"O-okay," Sera replied and then turned her attention back on out to the traffic as she watched. She was beginning to see the same cars and wondered if it were the same person until she noticed that they were taxis.
She really didn't know what to say to Danny although she wished to continue talking to him.
The previous night, Sera had actually thought about asking Danny about the whole boyfriend thing, but in the end she had convinced herself that he didn't like her. Then, she wouldn't want him to feel obligated and then the whole situation could grow even worse.
Sera stayed quiet and watched traffic.
"Okay..." Danny repeated her, almost as if pressing her to ask him another question. She always seemed to get part of the answer out of him and then would stop. "I've also just...been kinda depressed lately," Danny added after she remained silent for so long. He wondered if that might help them get started again. Then again, maybe not.
"Depressed?" Sera asked, peering back at him. "Are you homesick? 'Cause Bowen said you might be homesick.... is your depression anything I can help with? I'd be more than happy to help you. You're always helping me..." Sera said as she turned in her seat to look at Danny a little better.
"You shouldn't be depressed..."
If there was something Sera could help with, she'd be more than happy to help him.
