"I'll go with you," Danny said automatically.
When it came to her safety, his previous thoughts seemed very silly and he knew he shouldn't let her down. But he also wanted to get out as well, not liking staying cooped up very long. Also he thought it might be more beneficial if they sort of explored together.

"Oh... um... okay," Sera replied, most certainly not expecting him to be that willing after their less than exciting conversation beforehand.
"You don't have to go with me," Sera told Danny as she stood back and let him come from the balconey.
But she knew that he didn't want her going off by herself, although Sera was more than able to patrol by herself, she had done it for years anyway. She didn't see what difference it really made.
"I was actually going boyfriend shopping today," she told him as a pre-warning whenever the two stepped out of the apartment door and headed for the elevator.

Danny stopped where he was. If he had had anymore coffee to drink, it might have been a sputtering, double take kind of moment. He furrowed his brow, a little put off.
"Wha-oh Why?..." he demanded at first, then realized he was being a little rude. "I mean...oh..." He looked back down at his coffee mug, noticing for a moment that it had some kind of military symbol on it, then he gazed back up at her.

Sera nodded her head with a soft smile.
"Yeah. I've been thinking about what you said and you're right. Not all guys are bad and maybe I can find a good one... one that really likes me. I can't live my whole life running away from guys," she admitted. "I don't want to live that way anyway. If I find a guy around here, then perhaps he'll know a lot about this place and maybe even be on the rich side," she continued as they waited on the elevator.
"Actually, on what you've told me, I've been thinking a little more. Ever since my father... I've been afraid of men... I guess just becasue of one reason... and I... I'd like to sleep with someone to prove that I'm not afraid," she nodded her head. "You've slept with people before so it can't be such an aweful sin... right?" she asked.
The elevator gave a soft 'ding' and Sera stepped on, noticing it was empty.

"But...after what you said...and our conversations..." Danny stumbled over his words. He had never been good and talking when he was in more or less a state of panic. This wasn't coming out to the ending that he thought it might. And then she had to go and say 'you did it,' which made him feel all the more terrible. "Just because I made a mistake doesn't mean you should." He concluded, although is yammerings may not have made that much sense.

Sera peered at Danny a moment as if unsure of how to reply. She thought he would be on her side for conquering her fears and getting over her past.
"But Danny... I've made that mistake more times than I know..." she told him. She really didn't believe that one more time could tarnish her any more than she already was.
She peered down towards the floor and then heard the elevator as it stopped on the 4th level. The bank was on this level and Sera was planning on heading there first.

"But that wasn't your fault," said Danny stressfully.
He might have said more, but at this point the door slid open and he knew they shouldn't say anymore for fear of being overheard. And it wasn't that Danny wasn't happy she had finally decided that perhaps being a recluse wasn't the healthiest thing for her. It was just that his inner feelings declared that she wasn't focusing that truth in the right direction (which was supposed to be towards him.)
Biting his bottom lip they stepped off the elevator and he allowed Sera to do go what she wanted.

Of course Sera had no knowledge of Danny's feelings and so she wondered why he always seemed to get so emotional over their conversations. Since he didn't say anymore, she went on to the bank, having him wait outside.
It took her a little while, for it seemed that there was more to discuss than she originally thought.
After about fourty-five minutes, which Sera knew Danny was probably bored out of his mind, Sera turned back out to come up to Danny. She seemed slightly bewildered, but she had her original savings money.
"Alright, job shopping now," Sera nodded her head as the two started off once more.

During his wait Danny had begun to rethink his reasons for being here. Did he really mean to come here to join the military in order to fight this war (a war of evidence that No Man's City had not even appeared to take an interest in) or was he chasing a secret desire that in the end would not be his anyway. A city like this really wasn't the right place for a simple, country boy like him.
He had most certainly decided that much by the time Sera had reemerged from the bank. Danny had been walking around nearby while he thought and waited. When he met her again, he didn't say much except to ask how things had gone and if she had had any success getting her savings back.

Sera nodded her head.
"Yeah, it's a long story. I'll tell you about it later," Sera assured Danny. The two walked around for a little while together as Sera apologized for making Danny wait so long. It seemed that they couldn't find any stores that were looking for workers at the time and most of them didn't want Sera, for it was obvious that she was a foreigner.
She looked around at guys, but no one really looked at her, so in return she didn't really look at anyone either.
"Ready to go back?" she asked after a couple of hours of defeat.

"I need to find the military office," Danny told her simply. "But I don't even reckon its in this building." So he decided it might be better to head back up to the flat and ask Bowen or his Aunt, or maybe look in a phonebook she might have.

"Oh, okay," Sera told Danny. "We still have plenty of time and we haven't been out that long. Would you like to switch buildings?" she asked him.
She looked around a little and agreed with him that the military office was not here.
"Maybe we can ask someone too," she pointed out.
Sera was a little let down that Danny didn't seem to be the same person that she thought his was. It seemed that ever since they had left from his home that he was different somehow... and he didn't like to talk too much. Which, in a sense, she didn't blame him. Maybe he didn't want her to tag along while he went searching for the office.
"Y'know... I think I'm going to head back up to the room and... lay down for a while," she shruged. "Are you okay looking for the office by yourself?"

Danny wondered if Sera was tired, for they had only been walking around for a couple of hours.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," he told her. "But are you feelin' awlright?" They had come to the elevator, from which he wasn't turning away. He figured it would do him just as well to go back up to Miss Rose's flat and look in a phone book or something anyway.

Sera only shrugged in reply to Danny. She should have been rejoicing, but she didn't really feel like it. She wanted to ask Danny why he had to follow her everywhere but it seemed a little rude. Still though, Sera got the impression that Danny didn't enjoy her company as much as he claimed that he did, so why did he always insist on tagging along with her. They were both adults and they could both walk around just fine on their own. They both had been doing it for years anyway.
Sera didn't really talk much anymore as they made their way back up to the flat. Instead of going to her room, she went out on the Balconey. She had them stop at the bar before going completely back and she picked up a bottle of alcohol with her own money. Then out on the Balconey she took it with her to consume.

Sera wasn't the only one that felt as if her friend had gone through a strange change of behavior. It was true she had become more comfortable around him, but comfort had led to quite a few strange and awkward situations for Danny. Also, he had felt as if he had worked hard to help her come out a little and that his affection for her might be plainly seen, but then she turns around and suddenly appeared to explode out of her shell claiming she wants to find a rich, city boyfriend. Danny was rich, but he didn't live in the city and apparently Sera didn't feel the same for him as he did for her, which was putting him into a bit of a depression.
He let Sera do as she wanted and fished aronud the kitchen for a city directory so he could find the military office. Bowen had answered the door to let them in and noticed that they both were in a mood and he wasn't sure if he wanted to ask what was wrong.
