Danny watched her, then remembered his telecommunicator, which he had brought another of since he had lost his last one when No Man's Land was destroyed.
"Want to see if we can contact the others and tell'em that we're here," he asked Sera as he started towards the room. He was sure she and Lizzie would like to talk to each other and he didn't want to worry his own family anymore either.
He slunk into the bedroom where his things were and pulled out the small rectangular object from his pack and brought it back into the living room.

"O-okay," Sera said. She watched Danny disappear and then reappear with the little object. She had seen other people use it, but she had never used it herself.
Now that she thought about it, she'd have to buy a stamp to mail a letter... and she still didn't have any money.
She waited for him to turn it on, since she didn't have a clue about it, but in the meantime, she offered him a sandwich.

"Not right now," Danny replied, refusing the sandwich, but he thanked her.
There was a screen on one side of the black, rectangular object. and several buttons below it. He pushed one button that had a green marking on it and immediately the screen began to glow and the item itself lifted up into the air and hovered right before their faces. It wasn't very large, about the width of two hands across and the length of three. Once it was on, one could touch the screen to tell it what to do. Danny selected one option that said call home. The screen went dark and a small yellow light blinked for a minute before a picture came up on the screen. It was Donovan who was sitting in the kitchen.
"Bout time you called," he said smiling at them. He had a large smudge of grease on his cheek and a plastic face shield perched atop his head. "We was gettin' worries. Lizzie's out with Daphne, gimme a minute an' I'll call them in." Then he got up from the table and disappeared around the corner.

Sera thought this was one of the neatest things and it seemed that Danny's family was waiting on them to call as well. She sat patiently as she finished up her half of the sandwich then wrapped Danny's back up. She hurried back into her bedroom and put the food up before returning to sit beside Danny once again. She peered into the little screen, waiting for Lizzie.

Donovan was gone for a few minutes actually in which during that time Delilah appeared and said hello. She kept them entertained until her older brother reappeared with Lizzie, Daphne, and the twins and even Mrs. Dunlap came in after a little while.
"You all seem to be doin' pretty good," Danny pointed out.
"Doing well," said Delilah as was her habit in correcting them all, but Danny seemed to ignore it.
"We're glad to see that you're safe as well," Mrs. Dunlap added.

Sera nodded her head.
"Yes, we're actually staying at Bowen's aunt's in the next city over. There wasn't anything left of No Man's Land, so we had to seek shelter somewhere else," Sera informed them, adding on to what Danny said.
Lizzie perked up.
"So you haven't gotten a real place to stay yet?" she asked.
"I'm afraid not Lizzie," Sera replied to her. "And I don't know how long we're going to be staying here either. The places here are very expensive and they're not just handing out jobs either."

"Don't worry, I'm sure with some motivation and a little luck, we can get back on our feet again in no time," Danny assured them with a confident smile. First thing was first, though, they needed to learn their way around somehow. "This place is huge though. And dang hard to navigate too." He sighed. "But Bowen's Aunt is gonna let us stay for about a week."

Sera nodded.
"Yes, she's very nice to let us stay for the week until we can get our feet under us," she smiled. She watched Lizzie and Lizzie watched her, which brought Sera a little bit of confidence.
They talked a little more about what they would be doing and how they would do it before Sera noticed that it was getting late.

Soon they all had to say goodnight and finally Danny took his half of the sandwich to eat.
"I brought a couple of towels for the shower if you'd like to go ahead," Danny told her.
He figured that at least they wouldn't have to use Miss Rose's towels when they bathed. Meanwhile, Miss Rose had come out to recline in her chair with Mitzy in her lap and had turned the screen on to watch.

"Okay," Sera said softly. "Could you get me one of those towels?" she asked him. She knew that she'd have to go straight to bed afterwards, for she didn't have anything to sleep in except her underwear.
She was eager to try on her new things though, hoping that she'd look good at least.
She stood up to follow after Danny.

"Yeah, sure," Danny replied with a nod as he stood to his feet and returned to his room to put his telecommunicator away, then fished around for a towel and brought it back out to her.
"The way to your bathroom, is through that bedroom," Miss Rose reminded them, pointing to the room Sera had chosen.
"Awlright, thank you," Danny replied.

Sera likewise nodded to Ms. Rose.
"Thank you very much," she told her, then she looked at Danny. "And thank you," she smiled to him. "I'll call you when I'm out so you can get yours," she told him. After that, she turned and headed off to her bedroom and then went on through to the bathroom.
A nice how bath sounded very relaxing and so she took her time taking one as well.

"Are you two goin' out," Rose inquired once Sera had disappeared to take her bath.
Danny looked at her, a little slow on her referencing but once he understood he shook his head.
"Oh, no...not really," Danny replied as he sat back down on the couch.
"Well, I think you should," said Aunt Rose almost as if it were a demand. "You two seem cute together. Now that I think about it, I saw you two down in the Social Lobby's at one of the bars."

Sera stayed in the bath for a good while, just enjoying herself and also the many bubbles that she congured up once she stuck the bar of soap under the running water. She thought it neat that the tub had a hologram screen around it so that it actually didn't look like a tub at all, but an invisible glass-like layer that held the water. It looked as if the water were just hovering above the ground in an oval shape. Sera believed it to be one of the neatest things she had seen so far and also the tub was so huge.
Finally, whenever she finished, she got out and dressed in one of the matching sets she had picked out that day. She went on over to her bedroom door, wrapping the towel around her and called out to Danny that the bathroom was free, then she closed her bedroom door as she went to rummage around the bags she had purchased that day.

Danny grabbed his necessary things and headed into Sera's bedroom so he could slip into the bathroom. He was a little surprised to see her in a towel and couldn't help himself, trying to resist getting a peek, but he quickly moved into the bathroom and shut the door. The tub surprised him a little and he wasn't entirely sure how to work it at first. It was quite and amazement to him.
