Welcome to Gaia! ::

After a little while, Bowen tried searching the radio station for something to listen to. But being so far out in the middle of no where and with the nearest city no longer existing there was nothing but static and murmuring, inarticulate voices to be heard, so he turned it off. Danny eventually resolved to singing softly to himself a few songs that he knew. His voice was rough, but pleasant.
They still had a long way to go.
Sera ended up bringing her knees up by her chest as she turned completely to look out the window. She watched the things they passed, whenever they did pass anything.
She tried to tune out Bowen and Danny though, wishing that the two of them weren't there and that she was by herself. Maybe she could be by herself floating on a cloud.
She felt like asking where the nearest train station was that was still intact, but she'd find it on her own. There was no use in talking to them if she didn't have to. Besides, her question might bring up questions, or worse... small talk.
Danny did not let up singing for a while. Although he did not mind, nor was he afraid of silence, the silence surrounding this hovercraft was a tangible barrier, no a very heavy weight. It pressed down and threaten to crush his ribs and lungs. It was about to drive him crazy. Apparently though, it didn't seem to bother Bowen for he had gone straight to sleep. After a little thought, Danny decided this might be his last chance to mend things. But he would do his best to keep it brief.
"Sera..." he spoke softly and waited to see if she would respond. If she did or not, he didn't hear it and so continued, remaining quiet. "I have thought about your questions...what you said a few days ago. And you are right...it was all very wrong of me...I regret it terribly and I do not think I would ever do somethin' like that ever again...until I found the right one...and I knew...if that ever happens. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry...period."
There he was done. That was all he would say and he wouldn't make up any excuses. He was being very sincere.
Sera lifted her head to peer at Danny in the rearview mirror, able to see his eyes and some of the rest of his face. She didn't know what he had to be sorry about, especially to her. Danny had only shared a piece of information about himself with her.
She had to admit that she thought his words a little random and at such an odd time as well. Her eyes moved over to peer at Bowen as he slept in the brief silence. Sera didn't know what to say to Danny and wasn't certain why all the answers she had wanted previous suddenly came right now. She felt as if he had changed his mind about some of his answers.
"Why do you care so much about how I view you?" she said very quietly.
"Because...I really care about you..." Danny admitted, and of course he meant something a little beyond just in a friendship matter as well.
But as for exactly why, well, he could not properly explain that yet. Honestly the notion puzzled him just about as must as it puzzled her, but all he knew at the moment was that he really cared for Sera. Yes, she could be introverted and distant, but he had also seen the real side of her. He had seen the good and the bad and she was much different from any other young woman he had ever known.
Once again Sera watched Danny's eyes in the mirror.
"Those were all the answers I was looking for a few nights ago," Sera stated in a soft whisper. "I was going to tell you that I didn't care what you did in your past. What mattered was how you felt about it now. But you left before I had the chance to say anything."
She moved her sight back to the window.
"It shouldn't matter. Our paths are going two different ways."
"I'm sorry for that too..." Danny replied quietly. "I wish they weren't." He fell silent again as he came to the realization that once again he had messed up. It was always his fault these things never worked out anyway, because he was so blind to the answers that were right in front of him. Perhaps that person would never come after all because it seemed he would never learn the right path.

((gone to bed))
"I wish they weren't too..." Sera whispered after a brief pause of silence. Sera felt the same thing that Danny felt, although she just didn't know it. Because Sera had never felt this close to anyone before she wasn't sure what to call her emotions. She just knew that she found him as a comfort, sort of like a father-figure. But what she really found in him was the comfort she had been seeking for a long time, more than a comfort, but a companionship and someone to care for.
Sera couldn't change what was going to happen though.
She was sorry she had made him feel guilty and dirty. She was sorry she had treated him badly, and she was sorry to see their friendship end on such a bad note.
At a loss, Danny said no more, but was comforted slightly by the fact that she seemed to feel the same, if only slightly.
Although the hovercraft had a transparent shield with which to cover them, and there was cool air blowing within the craft, the day was still hot. To their left a long line of trees zipped by and much sooner than later, they had disappeared into the distance behind them.
Sera likewise stayed quiet since Danny was. She watched the roadway while she thought quietly to herself.
She still felt that it was far too soon to really feel anything for Danny, but for an emotionally scarred person as she was, some things didn't fall into play as they should anyway. She felt deeply for Danny. Even whenever she was slightly angry at him and didn't want to be around her, it was still tearing her apart inside to think of having to leave his side.
But Danny would go off and find his soulmate somewhere. She would probably be a hardworking girl that loved the plantation. She'd smile and laugh; she'd make him feel good and worth-while.
Easily, after a little while, Sera pulled her legs underneath her so that she could stretch forward toward Danny's seat. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as she laid her head against the back of the seat.
Danny wasn't expecting this nearly jumped whenever Sera's hands came sliding around in front of him. He bit at his bottom lip though, becoming a little overwhelmed it seemed, which in the back of his head he thought was ridiculous. He hadn't known Sera that long comparitively, but still he felt very attatched to her already. He raised one hand and rested it over hers, keeping the other on the steering mechanism, which was really just a small slot that one fit their hand inside and steered the car depending on the pressure applied in a certain direction.
Danny's touch reassured Sera and she stayed there for a little while, feeling the cool breeze from the A/C unit hit her face a little more directly than in the backseat.
"How much farther until we get there?" she asked him, moving her head up a little more so that she could see over his broad shoulder. They had been traveling a great while and she was starting to get a little peckish.
Dabnny looked up at the sun out of habit, then down at the time piece. The sun had not quite yet reached its zenith and only half the day had passed so far.
"We still have a long while to go," he assured her with a slightly sigh. "If you get hungry though, there should be several containers'o food in that bag beside you."
Sera listened, then very gently, she pulled away from Danny in order to rummage around through the container.
"Are you hungry?" she asked him, pulling out a few sandwiches. She used her foot to jostle Bowen in order to wake the man up.
"Would you like something to eat?" she asked Bowen.
Bowen stirred quite suddenly and turned his head to look at Sera while he squinted his eyes.
"No," he replied quietly and turned over in his seat again.
Danny just shrugged, supposing they couldn't force him to eat and moved a hand to accept a sandwich from Sera instead. He was still a little moved and saddened by their impending parting of ways, but the previous tension had now disappeared. Things felt much better at least.
