Welcome to Gaia! ::

Sera nodded her head.
"Alright then. But please try not to pick any more fights with anyone," she said softly. "Oh, and also, would you like some soup once I get it made?" she asked Danny. "Or perhaps Bowen would like some?"
Fidel snorted lightly and moved to take her tail back in his mouth and then tried to lift her up once he stood up straight, he was a very tall dog and towered over Brigit.
Being older, Brigit wasn't much for playful pups either. She snatched her tail back and snarled at him, laying her ears back as she whipped around to face him. She nipped at him, although she didn't hurt him and moved to the other side of her master.
Danny looked down and narrowed his brow, which he kept forgetting hurt.
"Brigit, be nice," he said. He had been about to argue that it wasn't him who picked the fight but decided not to press it any further. Instead he returned to her subject on soup. "Soup sounds fantastic," he replied, smiling warmly. "An' I'm sure Bowen will want some when he gets back."
Sera nodded and looked down at Brigit and Fidel.
"Fidel, leave Brigit be," she scolded the dog and shooed him on into the living room, which it was hard to shoo something the size of a small elephant. But the dog finally went away.
"Alright then, I'll get started on it. Is there anything in p-particular that you'd like?" she asked.
"I'll eat anything," Danny assured her so she wouldn't have to be too picky about whatever she put into her food. He appreciated any kind of food, especially if someone else made it, for he wasn't too spectacular of a cook. He could cook only a few things decently if he really needed to, but otherwise he didn't care too much for the taste of his own cooking.
He stood there a moment, unsure if he was invited to stay until the food was done or if he needed to return to his own apartment now. But perhaps he would try to make a little more small talk before deciding that.
"So how was work for you two today," he inquired.
"It was... okay," Sera remarked as she brought up her burned hand. "I spilled some of the hot dye on my hand today," She said a little sourly. The burn had been covered over with a pink dye that stayed on her skin.
She sighed lightly and then started to boil the water and then brought out what she'd put in the soup.
"And you said I need to be more careful," Danny pointed out, although he meant it lightly. "I do hate to hear that you hurt yourself, though. Is it bad?"
He moved over behind the counter and out of her way as he watched her go to work. He did feel better to have someone willingly cooking for him though, although he didn't want to take advantage of it. Perhaps she'd allow him to pay her.
Sera sighed lightly.
"Yeah," She remarked softly. "I know I need to be more careful... but I didn't mean to, just as you didn't mean to get hurt. It's not... that bad..." she tried to tell him, moving to look at her hand. "I mean, I don't feel it really..."
She began to cut up a few carrots and other vegetables to put in the soup.
"What have you been up to today?" Sera carried on the conversation.
"The usual for the past week," Danny replied with a light shrug. "They'll have me in basic trainin' and technology classes for the next three months. Boy, once I had been done with grammar school I told myself I'd never go back, but here I am takin' classes again." He sighed lightly before leaning over to scratch Brigit's fuzzy head.
"I wish I could have finished school," Sera said as she heard the door close. She knew that Lizzie had gone out, and she had heard Fidel's click click of his toenails. As long as she took Fidel, then she was fine with Lizzie going out.
"After my mom was gone I-I wasn't able to really go to school too much anymore. Th-That's one reason I work at the dye vats... because I can't get any other job..." Sera sighed, dumping everything into the boiling pot of water.
"I'm sure you'll be happy whenever you get to go home again," she brought up.
Danny raised a brow as he watched and listened.
"Well, shoot," he sighed. "You city folk make it sound like it's a crime to get less than twenty years or more of education. I didn't go to no smart people school. I attended grammar school till I was ten then started helpin' my Daddy round the plantation. Since I was the oldest I had the learn the ropes soon. I sure ain't no educated man, although my Momma tried to teach me her best afterwards. Sometimes you don't get the job you want...but a job is a good one if it puts bread on the table. Least it is in my opinion."
Sera looked over at Danny.
"I was taken out of school whenever I was around thirteen," she told him. She turned her attention back to the soup she was preparing and tried to get it up to where it would cook for a little while. She sat the covering over it and then stepped back.
She peered over at Danny and it was then that she realized the two of them were in her home alone. Lizzie had gone out with Fidel and she was a bit nervous now as she looked over at him.
She thought it was odd how whenever she was taking care of Danny that she wasn't afraid of him. She just wanted to help him, but whenever it was back to a normal situation, she was fearful of him.
"It should be ready in... a little while," she let him know. "Wha-what time does Bowen get home?"
"Still got more of an education than I did," Danny replied with a light shrug. If getting taken out of school was supposed to be tragic, then he obviously wasn't seeing eye to eye with Sera. It hadn't at all been a tragedy to him. But he supposed some people, like his eldest sister, loved to think of themselves as educated and loved to learn.
"He usually doesn't get back till dark," Danny told her. He could tell she was getting nervous again, but remained nonchalant. He figured he kept his part of the atmosphere casual, it would eventually help her to calm down. "I dunno that he really ever eats much either."

((bed...lurve heart ))
"He should eat more, he's on the skinny side and that's not healthy for a growing man," Sera remarked as she turned to look at Danny now. She was at a loss for what to do now that her soup was cooking and would take a little while.
"So um... what time do you have to report in the morning?" she asked, figuring she'd keep the conversation going.
"Well...he's a couple years older than me," Danny told her. "So I doubt he has much growin' left to do. But I agree it ain't healthy. He busies himself too much."
Danny rested his arms atop the counter, intertwining his fingers together politely.
"Bout six," he replied in answer to her question. "Not too bad, really."
Sera nodded.
"I agree, that's not bad," she retorted. She looked at Danny a moment, wanting to keep her guest entertaining and not become so nervous around him.
"Would you like... to play a game of cards?" she asked, feeling rather dumb for the question though. "Lizzie and I were going to invite you last night, but apparently no one was home..."
