Welcome to Gaia! ::

"Well I'm not here to keep you from your work," Danny replied, furrowing his brow. He understood that he was encroaching on someone's business here, but he meant not harm. "If he has a problem with it, I'll go talk to him, but he shouldn't get mad at you. It's not your fault I just showed up."
He watched her leave and sighed before returning to his cake.
"If he's losing time and money, then I'll pay him back," he mused a little grumpily to himself.
Sera didn't really answer, but knew that Danny understood as she went on out. A few doors down, she came to Kyle's door and knocked. Almost instantly, it was opened and Kyle stood in the doorway. He smelled slightly of booze and his button-up shirt was open on the front.
"You finally get away from your little boy-toy?" he asked Sera in a slightly slurred speech.
Sera huffed lightly.
"Don't call him that. And yeah. What did you want to talk to me about?" she questioned. Kyle led her on in and closed the door behind her.
Danny watched the screen, not really paying attention half the time, because it was just something difficult for him to get into. While he ate he looked around the little suite, wondering at all the different appliances and features. When he was done he got up and washed the dishes, then he put them away once he found out where they all needed to go. He wondered what kind of song Sera and Kyle were going to discuss before his attention came to Sera's guitar, leaning against the wall in the living area. He picked it up and began prodding his fingers against the strings.
Sera sat down with Kyle on the long white sofa that he had near the center of his room, framed by a zebra pattern rug. Everything in Kyle's room was done in a black and white theme while Sera's had been a purple and black theme.
The two went over one of the songs that he wanted her to learn for the practice tomorrow and while Sera was slightly wary of it, she knew that she could do it.
After about half an hour, Sera started out.
"Oh, tell me one more thing," Kyle stopped her. "Why're you wearing my jacket?" he asked, fingering the material as his eyes traced over it before coming to her face.
Sera didn't know how to answer that and opened her mouth as if to speak. Nothing came out at first and she finally grunted lightly.
"I need to get back to Danny," she said and pulled away from him as she started back down the hallway.
Danny sat fiddling with Sera's guitar for a little while before finally finding a song to play. He didn't want to change the way she had it tuned, just in case she needed it that way for something. He was actually a very adept guitary player, having taken lessons when he was younger, and later just kept it up as a hobby. He once had a very nice guitar as well, but lost it when No Man's Land was destroyed.
"Come lay by my side...little darlin'," he sang softly."Come lay a cool hand on my brow. And promise me that you'll always...be nobody's darlin' but mine."
Sera could hear Danny's playing from outside her door as she unlocked it and started in. She couldn't help but smile as she came to spy him.
"Well look at you," she mused with a grin. Sera moved so that she could sit down not too far from him and began to fold the paper she had with the lyrics on it. After doing so, she shoved it down into her pocket, knowing that she'd practice them later.
Actually, she was feeling a little strange and needed a cigarette. Horribly, Sera had picked up smoking, but it helped her nerves and she figured that she could quit whenever she wanted.
Danny looked up to see her come in and his tanned skin revealed a soft blush as he sat her guitar aside.
"I haven't played in so long," he said with a bashful smile. "Not sense I lost my good one. I hope you don't mind."
He watched her as she sat down and noticed the paper she slipped into her pocket and wondered what it was. He also observed that she appeared a little nervous. Slightly shaken maybe, he wasn't really sure what kind of word to put with it. "You alright," he inquired. He wondered maybe if Kyle had said something to her, angry about him being there.
"Of course not," Sera replied. She almost found it silly that he would say such a thing. She didn't mind him playing at all. "I love the fact that you can play and you have such a nice voice as well," she pointed out. "Play me something," she requested from him. "Something soft and soothing."
Sera moved so that she could sit with one leg off the side of the couch and the other tucked underneath herself. She held her hands around her knee as she waited on him.
Danny realized that she didn't really answer his question, but he didn't ask again, at least not then. If she still seemed perturbed afterwards then he would ask her later.
"My voice ain't really that nice," he told her with a chuckle. "But if you really want me to.
He strummed his fingers down the strings looking for a tune before he really began to play. It was soft and a little melancholy, like a lot of the older songs he knew.
"I can't stop lovin' you, so I've made up my mind," he began. "To live in memory of a lonesome time. I can't stop wantin' you, it's useless to say. So I'll just live my life in dreams of yetserday." Perhaps the songs he knew weren't necessarily her style, but he related to them and therefore could sing them with passion. And although his voice wasn't amazing, the emotion he put into the song made up for it.
"I think it is," Sera whispered, referring to his voice. She loved the way Danny's voice sound, even if it wasn't amazing or the best thing in the world. It was something that she considered belonged to her.
She listened to his song and closed her eyes as she leaned against the back of the couch. His voice was soothing and the song he had chosen was very relaxing to her.
""They say that time...yields a broken heart...but time has stood still...since we've been apart. I can't stop lovin' you," he continued. He sang until the song was done then put the guitar aside. He smiled at Sera, surprised that she had actually enjoyed that.
"You like it," he asked. "It's a really old song. "Pa sang it to Momma the night he proposed to her."
"Oh? Really?" Sera swooned lightly. "That's so romantic... and so cute..." she mused with a wide smile. She hadn't heard too much about Danny's father mainly because she knew that he passed away when Danny was still young and perhaps he didn't like talking about him much.
Whenever he was finished, she moved to wrap herself around his arm, drawing herself closer to him.
"Your father sounds like a really sweet man."
Danny leaned against her a bit as she sat beside him and smiled. He kissed her forehead before contemplating her statement.
"Sweet to all the girls maybe," Danny replied with a soft chuckle. "He didn't live much longer after Daphne was born, but Delilah had him wrapped around her finger. Anything she asked for he would get it for her. An' that's not to say he wasn't good to me and my brothers. But we just weren't girls, you know." He laughed.
Danny was really far past his vulnerable stages. Of course, he missed his father, but he actually enjoyed talking about him whenever he got the chance.
"That's so cute," Sera remarked. "And I bet she was." She closed her eyes as she leaned there against Danny, just thinking about it. She had never noticed his picture in Danny's home, although she couldn't rightfully say that she looked through his family photos either.
She sat there with him and the two swapped songs and stories before Sera finally declared that she needed to go to bed a little early for the next day.
Danny was a little disappointed for he was having a good time, just sitting with her and talking. They never went out although she had suggested it twice that day, but perhaps they'd have more time for that the next day. For once he actually wasn't feeling very tired and would probably stay up a little longer before finally going to bed. He wasn't quite sure what he would do though.
"Sweet dreams then," he said, embracing her gently and kissing her forehead, then her lips. "Just wake me up in the mornin' and I'll go with you...or I'll stay here. Whatever's easiest for you."
