Welcome to Gaia! ::

Lizzie looked back at Danny.
"Awww... you won't let me make you anything?" she asked him. "I could make up myself for you," she tried. But after she saw that she wasn't really getting anywhere with Danny, she turned to Brigit, for she did really like Brigit. She had always wanted a pet, but Sera had never let them get one, for she was fearful of animals.

"I always wished that Sera would let us keep an animal," Lizzie said softly as she stroked Brigit, "but she's afraid of them. She's afraid of a lot of things," she pointed out a little sadly.
Danny stood near the door, watching Lizzie and Brigit. He shrugged whenever she brought up the pet subject, however.
"Well, she's seemed to warm up to Brigit a lot," Danny pointed out. "Maybe if you brought it up now, she might consider lettin' you have a pet. Or a dog at least. You just gotta make sure it's a dog that doesn't mind stayin' inside too much."
Lizzie shrugged and then stopped as she could hear footsteps coming up the steps. She looked to the window to see that it was later than she was expected. Hopefully it was Sera that was coming up.
She let Brigit back to her master, but then noticed the footsteps were accompanied by a soft clicking noise. Lizzie must have been wrong in her thoughts on that to be Sera.
But Sera soon showed up to the door, followed by a loud bark. She had brought something back with her. Something rather large. Lizzie looked up to notice it was a dog, but the dog was more interested in Brigit.
Sera smiled lightly and then shrugged.
"I felt sorry for it and gave it some food because it was so skinny and it wouldn't let me leave. It followed me back," Sera shrugged.
Lizzie jumped up off from where she was sitting and rushed over to look at the large male dog that was inspecting Brigit.
Brigit had realized who and what was coming before any of the others had. Before the door had opened she let out a semi-threatening woof as she turned to face them. Danny turned as well, curious to see what seemed to be upsetting her and also he took a hold of her collar as well, just in case. As soon as the big dog stepped in, Brigit's ears perked as high as they would reach, her tail and hackles raised up in the air. She wasn't looking for a fight but she was just making sure that an immediate line of respect could be distinguished. Whether or not this new dog would comply, no one new. She stretched out so their noses might meet.
"Well, there's your problem," Danny chuckled. "If you don't want it, then don't feed it."
"Well he already had his big nose in my bag," Sera remarked. "I turned around and I thought my bag had a mind of its own," she said. The large grey dog peered toward Brigit a moment, then gave a great yawn and stretched.
It turned back toward Sera, as if bored of the other dog and stared up at her with anticipating eyes.
It long slender tail wagged while its deep black eyes yearned for more food. It wasn't about to be threatening toward Brigit, it was just hungry.
"Can we keep him?" Lizzie asked as she looked at the thing.
"Let me give him a bath first and then think about it," Sera said, holding Lizzie bag from hugging him. She wasn't sure if he was that friendly or not anyway, plus he stunk.
Seeing the dog was no threat and Brigit did not wish to be so much of a threat, Danny released his hold and just made sure to keep a wary eye on her. Brigit only circled the dog once to get a good look at him before becoming bored as well and returning to sit beside her master.
Danny couldn't help but nod and cover his nose a moment. "Woo, he does stink. Smells like he's been rolling on a carcass." He chuckled, before becoming a little more serious. "Well, since you're back, I s'pose I'll excuse myself. Unless you need washing your dog that is."
Sera smiled lightly as she reached in her bag and pulled out a small dog bone that she gave to him, which he immediatly crunched in his powerful jaws and then brought his attention for more.
"I think I'll be fine as long as I have something to feed him. I was about to swat him away whenever I discovered him stealing from my bag. Then whenever I saw his sides, I couldn't help but feel so sorry for him." Sera looked at Lizzie a moment.
"Lizzie, will you go turn on the shower to some warm water?"
Lizzie nodded and hurried away.
"I think he's a little large for a bathtub," Sera remarked.
Danny smiled and nodded then left the girls to their work. Bowen had yet to return still and so Danny was left without much to do or anyone to talk to. Brigit had followed him back in, not wanting to be separated from her master any longer and also found not other interest in the new dog.
Danny did find this feeling a little strange. It was just something he couldn't get used to, being alone. He was accstomed to being surrounded by his many syblings and friends and their syblings. Life on the plantations were all about fellowship, hospitality and helping one another out. It was hard to get used to being by himself for so long. And even here no one seemed to understand the things he liked to do or talk about, or were even very friendly as far as just sitting around and chatting went. Bowen was always engrossed in his work. All Lizzie wanted to do was flirt with him although the gap in their ages was quite extensive and Sera apparently was much too afraid of him to do anything other than sputter awkwardly.
He sighed lightly before plopping down the couch and trying to think of something to go do. Around this time of day he would still be out tending the farm in some form or fashion.
Sera bathed the new dog in the shower, although it took her a little longer than she thought because he was so large. Whenever they were done, they dried him off with an old towel.
Lizzie was happy to have the dog in the apartment and went to the kitchen to find food.
"Don't feed him too much, we have to eat ourselves," Sera called to Lizzie. She looked at the dog though while she dried off his head. His tall, cut ears stood tall as he looked to her. His face drooped slightly with a pushed in nose, but his black eyes stayed on her.
Sera smiled at him.
Eventually Danny made himself a little something more to eat before pulling out a small banjo that he had packed in his bag and he began to play it as he perched on the couch once more. He began to sing softly, his voice a soft baritone, yearning but pleasant. Singing and playing a few acoustic instruments was the only fraction of artistic talent that Danny possessed.
"What kind of dog is he?" Lizzie asked eagerly.
"I don't know, perhaps you could look it up," Sera remarked.
"Is he fixed?"
Sera checked.
"Nope."
"What's his name?"
"How am I supposed to know?"
"Does he know any tricks."
"Maybe, I'm not sure."
"What's his favorite food?"
"Whatever I put in my bag."
"Maybe he knows beg," Lizzie remarked.
"I think he knows take," Sera retorted. She looked over at the large beast, for he had come over and sat his head on top the counter while she looked over what Lizzie was making.
"He's so big. Do you think he's part elephant? He's grey like an elephant."
"I assure you Lizzie, that he is not part elephant."
"You don't know," Lizzie sighed. "What if he is? What if he's some escaped lab ... animal... creaure thing... and in the dead of night he grows bat wings and takes off into the sky."
"Well if you see him do so, wake me and tell me, okay?"
Danny remained in his apartment room for a little while, playing his banjo and singing for a while. But after so much time being by himself, he decided to go out and explore the city a little more, despite the warnings to stay inside as much as possible. He took Brigit with him for safety and because he hated to leave her inside by herself at any point in time. She happily followed after him, down the stairs and outside. As they both exited the building, Danny did wonder about Lady Trena, for she had never come by to tell him what rent to pay. Perhaps she was just busy. He would try to contact her later.
After a little while later, Lizzie and Sera sat down to play a card game. Sera finally gave in and let Lizzie go over to Danny's apartment and invite him to join. But Lizzie was sad that Danny wasn't there.
The new member of their little family came over to interupt them a bit, poking his big slobbering maw in on the deck of cards and in everyone's hands as he looked for attention and food.
Sera just found it odd how well behaved the dog was other than an attention-hog.
Danny wandered around until he found a bar that seemed warm and welcoming enough, despite all the tension that had been circulating around the city. Luckily they allowed pets as well. He ordered only one drink and sat to enjoy himself while he watched the people around him, listened to nearby gossip, and just relaxed in the company of people, even they were people he didn't know or talk to. The mind-numbing droll of conversation set him at ease.
Sera and Lizzie played well on into the night until Sera looked up at how dark it had grown outside.
"Looks like it's someone's bedtime," Sera remarked as she got up to put away their dirty dishes and card games.
"Aww...," Lizzie remarked. "But I don't want to go to bed yet," she groaned. "I'd rather go see what Danny and Bowen are up to," she said.
"I think they're both out. If they've come back in, then I haven't heard them. We shouldn't bother them anyway," Sera told Lizzie. Lizzie sighed.
"Sera, what do you think of Danny?" Lizzie asked as she came up to Sera's side.
Sera stopped to think as their new large family member came to help clean dishes.
"I think he's a very nice man."
"Is that it?" Lizzie asked. Now it was Sera's turn to sigh.
"He's charming, and handsome. But not your everyday handsome. His handsome is also found in his personality," Sera said. "I think he's a hard worker and he cares dearly for his pet."
Lizzie nodded.
"Do you like him?" Lizzie asked.
"I like him as a friend, yes," Sera replied and Lizzie stuck her tongue out at this answer.
"I didn't mean like that," Lizzie said.
"Lizzie I think it's time for you to go to bed," Sera said.
"But I don't understand. Why don't you like anyone?" Lizzie whined. "I wouldn't mind having a male figure around the house..."
"It's complicated Lizzie, go to bed."
