Danny kept one arm around her waist and one hand around her shoulders, trying not to touch her inappropriately as he let her swim. He didn't allow her to go under and after a few moments had allowed her to stand up a bit.
"Are you getting the hang of it," he asked. Of course, if she really didn't want to do this, she didn't have to. She had suggested it in the first place.

"I think so..." Sera said. "Can I try it on my own in deeper water and you'll be right there to pull me up if I need it?" she asked him. She hoped she was getting the hang of it, but it was very tiring and still very cold to her. The muscles in her legs wanted to slightly cramp, but she figured as long as she kept them treading water that she was fine.

"Of course," Danny replied as they both moved out into a little deeper water. They weren't into the center of the river yet, but about a quarter of the way out now. "I won't let go of you," he told her. "I promise. Just tell me wha'choo wanna do and I'll help you as best I can."

"I just want to try and stay up," Sera told Danny. And so that was what Sera did. She managed to keep her head above the water, although she had wanted to try without Danny holding her, feeling as if she was a slight pester to him because she was so helpless in the water.

Danny nodded and let her go out, keeping his hand near her, just in case she wanted to reach out and grab him.
"You've got it," he enoucouraged her. " Just kick and paddle keep your hands cupped. I'm here for you if you need me. My hand's right here."

Sera listened to Danny's voice, although she was turned a little away from him. His words... sounded so familiar... as if Sera had heard them before.
She suddenly had an atrocious memory as she turned to look back at Danny. In that moment, she stopped moving and her body quickly sunk.
Once she was under the water though, she realized what she had done and began to fight in order to get back up to the top of the water, to just keep her head up and it worked.

Danny grabbed her, mainly so she wouldn't float away with the current, but otherwise he let her do the swimming, until he was sure she needed help, then he pulled her in.
"You did it," he told her as he made sure she was stable. "Are you alright? It looked like you kind of freaked out there for a moment."

"Y-yeah," Sera stated as she sputtered a little water from her lips. "I-I'm sorry... I dont' know... what happened..." she lied as she stood up on solid ground, enjoying the feeling beneath her feet.
"I'm not sure if I was meant to swim.." she sighed.

"Well, that's alright," Danny told her with a light shrug. "Would you like to eat then? I'm up for that if you are." He smiled as he helped her back onto the bank. It was starting to get particularly chilly since it was getting later.
Once on the bank, he grabbed her towel for her and wrapped it around her.

Sera took the towel and tightened it.
"Food sounds good," she told him with a smile. As they came over to the basket. She pulled out the plates and began to get the food for the two of them.

Danny laid out a blanket that had also been packed so they wouldn't have to sit directly on the grass and then set everything on the blanket for them.
"Maybe once we eat some of this stuff, the basket won't be as heavy," he pointed out with a laugh.
He let Sera fix her plate first before fixing one for himself.

Sera soon sat with Danny and after she had her plate, she watched him fix his. Instead of sitting, she moved to stretch out on her side, propping up her head with one of her arms.
"This is comfortable," she said after they had started eating.

"Well, then I'm glad," Danny chuckled as he also poured himself something to drink and began to eat. "I can't lay down and eat, like that. It don't feel like it's gettin' to my stomach just right."

Sera looked up to Danny and giggled.
"This is how I used to eat my supper all the time," she informed him. After work, I was so tired that I'd take it to my bedroom and eat it laying on my bed." She continued to eat, enjoying her stance.
"It used to upset my stomach whenever I first started doing it, but after a while, I just got used to it."

Unisexual
"That sounds kinda dangerous," Danny pointed out, but smiled and shrugged. Upon the mentioning of her old job, however, he wondered a little about Mr. Underwood, the man Sera claimed to be her father. It had been plaguing the back of his mind ever since the night before and it was struggle to think about anything else.
