Marlon Aaron Hendrix
The Quiet Bad a**
Marly started off his morning the way he usually did. He got up, checked his phone, got freshened up then had a smoke before breakfast. His little brother was already at the table having his fruit loops so Marly went over to join them. "Ay, where's mom at?' He asked the boy, his name was Mike, and he was about eight years old now. "Momma's still at work, she took the night shift remember? She said she won't be back until 12 this afternoon." He reminded his brother. To be honest Marly didn't remember since he had been out so late with his friends... He actually felt bad since he was sort of irresponsible, he had left his little brother alone at home late at night to go out with his own friends... And it wasn't like they lived in some upscale neighborhood... It was dangerous around where they lived. You would need more than money to get yourself out of trouble. "How'd you get that?" He asked Mike as he shied away from his brothers prying eyes. "Hey, I asked you something Michael answer me." Mike shrugged, he had gotten beaten up a couple of days ago but of course Marly would only notice now. "I got beat up, Jeffery took my ice cream money... It's fine it happened like two days ago..." He said shrugging it off. Marly felt his blood boil but his composure didn't change.
"Get your stuff I'll take you to school... And I'll deal with that little a** but you've got to learn how to defend yourself... Don't let people push you around okay?" He said quietly as he grabbed his own jacket and waitedd as the boy put on his shoes. "You mean be like you?" He asked, it was no secret to Michael the bad things his brother did. "Not... Exactly like me... You can do better... You're smart. remember that." He told him as he tapped the boys head a couple of times before they headed out the door. Marly took Mike to school then continued walking to his own high school. It was his final year... And although he should be excited it didn't really seem significant to him... What good was school to him now, this was the life he grew up with and this was the life he'd die with...
