-X- Sweat dripped down Josh's face as he stood, eyes closed. He could hear cheers and claps, and a smile formed across his lips as he opened his eyes. He scanned the dark, foggy room, red cheeked faces smiling back at him. He walked to the front of the stage and leaned down, holding out his hand, as he slowly walked along the edge of the stage, touching his finger tips against those who were close enough to reach him. He straightened up and walked back to the microphone stand, where he picked up his guitar, and turned. He gave Matt, his best friend, a small nod, and then music began to fill the large, crowded room. Josh held the mic close to his mouth. The minute he opened his mouth to speak, the cheers began to get louder, and Josh let out a small, childish laugh, then opened his mouth to speak once more. "You guys are so amazing, although I'm not sure if I can sing loud enough that you'd be able to hear me over the cheers and screams" He said into the microphone, listening to his own voice bounce around the room. He laughed once more as the cheering flared up, and a couple of girls in the front row were reaching out, as if they wanted him to pull them on stage. "I'll do my best, kay?" He said, smiling once more as the crowd broke into more obsessive cheering. "I hope you don't mind, but for our last song, we're gonna slow it down a bit" He said, still amazed that anyone could hear him over the screams, which he got even more of once he spoke. Matt then stopped playing whatever random part of the song he had been playing, and started from the beginning, the soft sound of the guitar floating from the stage to the back of the room. "When your tears are spent, on your last pretense. And your tired eyes refuse to close, and sleep in your defense. When its in your spine, like you've walked for miles. And the only thing you want is just to be still for a while" Josh sang, his lips pressed against the microphone. The crowd burst into cheers as the percussion, and other band members joined in. Josh continued to sing, a smile on his lips, his cheeks flushed with excitment, and pleasure. "I'll be right beside you, I'll be right beside you. No body will break you" He sang, taking the mic off the stand so he could walk around the stage. He bent down, and grabbed the hand of a girl who reached out to him, and sang to her for a few seconds, before she burst into tears and obsessive screaming. He laughed, and then continued to sing, making his way back to the mic stand. "No body will break you" He sang, the crowd cheering as the final note left his mouth. He smiled and took a small bow, then watched as his friends took bow's as well. He gave the crowd a small wave, then ran off stage, his breath heavy and his heart beating fast.

-X- Josh entered the dressing room, meeting the smiling faces of his other band members. He clapped hands with Matt, then walked over to the mini fridge, where he grabbed a bottle of water and chugged it. "s**t" He said breathlessly, throwing the empty bottle at Matt as he laughed. "Cold, Joshy?" Matt asked, throwing the bottle back at him. Josh laughed and nodded then sat on the small couch and ran his fingers through his hair. "I shouldn't have thrown my water bottle on the third song. I was so thirsty, I thought I was going to pass out" Josh said, wiping his face with a damp towel that Ian had thrown at him. "I think someone did pass out. You should watch the charm, there Josh. They might not let us play in arena's anymore, if they have to call an ambulence every time" Matt said as Ian picked up a water bottle, chugging it as well. Josh laughed and threw the towel into the small basket they used for things they needed to wash. Josh stood up and made his way to small bathroom, ignoring the cat noises the boys were making behind him. Once he was in the bathroom with the door closed, he ran cold water, and splashed it on his face, using another towel to dry off once he felt awake and less sweaty. Then he pulled off his shirt and changed into a plain white t-shirt, before re-emerging from the washroom. Matt passed him his jacket, and then began throwing things they used to get ready for shows, into a small black duffel bag. Josh fixed his hair in the mirror, and grimaced as he saw Matt shake his head. "What?" He asked, turning around to face Matt as he pulled on his jacket. "Nothing, nothing. Just wondering why you suddenly care so much about your hair" Matt said, as he shoved used towels into a plastic bag. Josh frowned and zipped his jacket up half way, then picked up the duffel bag and put it securly on his shoulder. "My hair means a lot to me. I know Ian's driving, so it'll probably take hours, and hours to get home, but can we try to get home fast? I want some cereal, and my bed" Josh said, holding the door open for Matt.

-X- They made their way across the parking lot, both stopping when they heard girlish giggles from somewhere amungst the cars. Josh looked at Matt and nodded then they both began running at full speed towards the van. "Start the van! IAN! Start the van!" Matt yelled as they ran, turning to see a group of about 10 girls chasing behind them. Josh laughed as he remembered an Ikea commercial, in which Matt's obsessive yelling had reminded him of, then he turned and saw a girl incredibly close to him and began running faster. "Jeez!" He muttered, as she to began to run faster. He began to full on sprint as the van came closer and jumped in as it began to move, Matt right behind him. "Ouch" Josh muttered as Matt rammed into him, knocking both of them to the floor of the van. Mike laughed and turned around, handing each of them a bottle of water. "Sometimes, I love being the less cared about band member" He stated happily, ignoring the dirty looks from both Matt and Josh as the two boys picked themselves up from the van floor, and buckled themselves in, taking deep breaths between drinks of water. Ian laughed as he watched the girls pout and throw their purses to the ground behind them. Josh took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. "Sometimes I feel bad for running, but then I remember, that I actually want to keep my arms." Josh said, ignoring the confused look from Matt. "It was a joke, Matt. What he meant was, he doesn't want screaming fan girls to rip off his arms as souvenirs." Mike explained. Matt laughed and punched Josh's arm. "That's why we run, my boy. Never give into temptation. They do nothing but hurt you, and steal bits of your clothes" Matt said, looking out the window, a thoughtful look on his face. Josh laughed, remembering the one night a girl had actually caught him. She ripped the entire sleeve of his jacket, and shirt off before letting him get away.

-X- Josh looked out the window as the drove, keeping his eye open for any fast food place with a drive thru. He noticed a Wendy's up ahead and opened his mouth to speak, when he caught eyes with Ian in the mirror, and he shook his head. "Why not?" Josh asked, putting his hand over his empty stomach. "Not stopping. Eat something at home." Ian said. Josh pouted and continued to stare out the window, thankful that the glass was tinted, as a group of teenagers eyed the van suspiciously. Josh ran his fingers through his hair as he continued to look out the window, his stomach growling every once and a while. Matt looked over at him, about the fifth time it growled, and Josh gave him an apologetic smile. "Iaaaaaan. Can we puh-lease stop? Josh's stomach is giving me a headache" Matt whined, rubbing his arm as Josh punched him. Ian shook his head and kept his eyes on the road. "Sorry guys. I'm tired. We're almost home" He said, pulling into an alleyway that led them to a private street where they could park the van. Josh's let out a small giggle as his stomach growled again, and Matt groaned. Mike then turned around, and poured a handful of M&M's into Josh's hand. "Now, shut up" He said, before turning back around. Josh poured them into his mouth and chewed happily, taking a sip of water once he was done. "Much better. Why didn't you tell me you had those?" Josh asked, zipping up his jacket more. "Cause I wanted them to myself. However, if you're going to piss everyone off, I felt I could do without those few." Mike said. Josh rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, watching the houses as they passed them. Matt leaned his head against the back of the seat and groaned once more. "Can we unpack the van tomorrow? I'm sooooo tired" Matt said, picking cat fur off his pants, and putting it on Josh. "It'd be pointless to unpack the van anyway. We have another local concert tomorrow night. And will you stop that?" Josh asked, slapping Matt's hand away as he continued to put cat fur on him. "Your cat, your pants. Also, don't we have a talk show apperance in the morning?" Matt asked, leaning forward so that his face was beside Ian's. Josh groaned and picked the cat fur off his pants, throwing it into the air, so it could land where it wanted to. "Jeez, you two are complaining like little girls tonight. Yes, we have a talk show, then concert. So no, we don't have to unpack the van. However, Josh you have to do your laundry before we go to the concert tomorrow, because all your button-down shirts are laying on your bedroom floor." Mike said, rolling the M&M packet into a ball. "Some of those are Matt's. I'll just wear a t-shirt then." Josh said, not wanting to get up at 5 in the morning so he could do laundry. Matt looked at Josh then out the window, smiling as the back of their small, shared house came into view. Josh undid his seatbelt and got ready to open the door, for he knew they would all have to run to escape the people who would be hiding, and waiting for them.

-X- The minute the van slowed, Josh and Matt both booked it out the side of the van, and ran as fast as they could towards the door, Mike and Ian close behind them. Josh covered one side of his face, as someone flashed a camera at him, and unlocked the door as quickly as he could, falling onto the floor as the other three crashed into him. "Ouch..." Josh muttered, squeezing out from between the floor and Matt. He stood up and turned on a light, then walked to the fridge and looked around inside. "We have no food" He said in a sing-song voice as he continued to search through cupboards. Matt walked up beside him, and passed him a box of cereal. Then he got the milk, while Josh got out two bowls. Mike and Ian shook their heads and made their way to their room, obviously not hungry, and obviously very tired. The minute the milk was finished being poured, Josh grabbed a spoon, and began shoving spoonfuls of cereal into his mouth. "Slow down there, tiger." Matt said, slowly putting a spoonful into his mouth. Josh shook his head and continued to eat, while Matt sat beside him, eating small bites at a time. Josh finished his cereal much quicker then Matt, and hit Matt with the spoon as he walked past him. "Oww. Jerk" Matt said, throwing a Corn pop at him. Josh turned and rolled his eyes. "Immature" He said in a flow-y voice, and then made his way to the stairs. He went up, skipping two at a time. Once he was on the top floor, he made his way to the bathroom, where he took a fast, and very hot shower, and changed into his flannel pajama bottoms. Then he brushed his teeth and made his way to the bedroom he shared with Matt, and crawled into his bed. He saw a lump underneith the covers of Matt's bed, and assumed he had already gone to sleep. Josh shrugged to himself, then pulled the covers up to his ears, and fell asleep almost immediatly.

♪♫ The room was a complete mess. Everything was thrown around, clothes on the floor, a cell phone under the bed, an I-pod resting between two dictionaries that were barely hanging on the desk at the corner, and so much more was in a clutter around the room. Maggie never really cared about her room and rarely cleaned it but right now she was in panic mood. Her social worker would be coming to check up on her and her brother and if her room was seen while it was like this...well she didn’t want to go back to her parent’s house. With a sigh she bent down to the ground and began her work. All books went to the bookshelf, all clothes either put away neatly or tossed into the laundry that her brother had just started, anything electronically powered went into a drawer or was placed neatly away, and finally all school work was thrown into her messenger bag. Maggie groaned and fell to her bed, tired from all the work that she had just done in 30 minutes, and the doorbell suddenly rang. Hopping up the teenage girl changed clothes, wearing short shorts and a tank-top, before heading downstairs and away to the door which she opened to meet someone she wasn’t expecting. “Julie? What are you doing here?” Maggie’s small and fragile voice called out to the elderly woman who stood before her. Okay she’s not the elderly, she’s only 30 but to Maggie that was like a lifetime.

♪♫ The woman smiled and slipped into the house, ignoring Maggie’s calls as they both walked down the hallway. Julie didn’t say a word, she would just look around then write something and then look some more. It was starting to annoy Kat but then Julie cleared her throat and smiled pleasantly. “Everything seems to be in good order, make sure your brother is here next time though.” And then the old lady just walked out of the house. Maggie burst into laughter for one simple reason; her brother had been in front of Julie the whole time. “Am I invisible?” Nathan asked with a smile on his face as Maggie just shook her head and walked back into her room. Her ice blue eyes turned to the clock where she read the time and almost screamed if she wasn’t in the town square by 10:10 then she would be late. Grabbing her work uniform and racing out the door she pushed past her brother and into the garage which she quickly opened by pressing the little button. As soon as the door was fully open her right hand reached out and grabbed her skateboard which she took off on and was down the road as fast as she could. Her messenger bag was hanging lightly by her side and her hair was flying gently as she made her way around the small town till finally she reached the town square only to realize that she actually had an hour to spare. “What am I supposed to do for an hour?!” Her voice called out making people stop to stare at her before they continued on.

♪♫ Maggie blushed a bit and ran off towards the music store where she dropped off her skateboard and looked around the aisles for something interesting when something did indeed catch her eye. It was a poster on the wall for her ex-best friend’s band, Marianas Trench, which was promoting their new CD. Looking around carefully she made her way over to their CD’s and looked at the new one, reading off the song titles. She rolled her eyes gently before putting it back and walking away a few steps before she retreated back and reached her hand out. One part of her was telling her to get it, it was the only connection she had left to him but another part of her was telling her to leave, to hate anything that reminds her of him. In the end she bought the CD since it was the only thing that could tell her something about him...and to hear his voice. She remembered the times that they would hang out after school and the time he came over during a really bad storm so they laid down together and he held her tightly in his arms, promising to never leave her. Maggie glared at the sky as she made her way to a bench and sat down, grinding her teeth so she wouldn’t scream. “I should have never believed you, all your words were lies.” She muttered to herself before leaning back and just staring off. Her mind was having so many flashbacks, remembering the times she spent with him and remembering how they were so close. Was fame really more important then her? Did Josh even think about her anymore or was she forgotten like everything else? Why hadn’t he tried to visit? So many questions yet there were no answers to them.

♪♫ Finally an alarm went off and Maggie dug out her cell phone, checking the time and turning her alarm off before she stood up and walked over towards the coffee shop where she worked and hung out at most of the time. As her small hand rested on the knob she pushed the door open and saw one of her good friends cleaning off one of the tables. When the bell went off from the door Camilla turned around and smiled toward Maggie. “Hey, you’ll be working at the counter today.” Her friend called out as the blonde dropped her skateboard and messenger bag off to the side. “Alright, so how are you doing Cam?” Maggie asked as she placed her apron on. A twisted smile pulled on Cam’s lips as she rushed over and practically jumped over the counter. “Marianas Trench is having an interview or something and they’re letting people send in questions anonymously to have the band answer! I’ve already sent like a bunch in!” Maggie sighed in her mind but a smile was on her face on the outside. “Sounds cool, I’ll think about doing that.” A lie. That’s the only way to put it. Cam left shortly after and no one was visiting at that moment so Kat was completely bored till her eyes landed on the computer nearby. Maybe she’d send in one question, just to get the reply from it...but it was a long shot that hers would get picked. Mumbling to herself she made her way to the computer and sat down carefully, her fingers resting on the keyboard. No she shouldn’t do it...but on the other hand here was her chance to find out the truth. Groaning she pulled up the site and started typing away.

"Morning" Josh said, trying not to laugh at he looked at Matt, whose eyes were half closed, and his hair was sticking up. Josh punched Matt's arm and looked down at the colourful paper in front of him, without really reading it. "Shut up. You know why I don't ever show affection to girls" Josh said, looking at Matt, who then looked down guiltily at his plate. "Can we be in on the secret?" Ian asked, folding a page that both him and Mike had read. Josh sighed and looked away from Matt. "I... It's stupid" Josh said, picking up Lucy, who had been rubbing her head against his leg, and balanced her on his lap. "Josh wants someone who likes him to him, not his title" Matt said, reaching over to pet Lucy. "Well that sounds pretty reasonable. But what... Title?" Mike asked, getting up to put his plate in the sink. "Y'know? Josh Ramsay, lead singer of Marianas Trench. Not just... Josh" Josh said. Ian nodded. "Yeah, makes sense. Weren't their any girls in high school? Middle school? Even elementary?" Ian asked, who had been with the same girl since grade ten. "There were tons of girls that liked Josh in high school, he just always wanted something else." Matt said. Josh looked at Matt, and smiled, knowing a secret no one but him knew. "What about you Matt? Did anyone like you?" Josh asked Matt in a playful tone, earing him strange looks from Mike and Ian. "Didn't you guys go to school together?" Ian asked, sipping his coffee. "Yeah, but we weren't friends until grade eleven." Matt said. Josh chuckled, and Mike looked at him expectantly. "You aren't going to tell them how we became friends, right?" Matt asked Josh. Josh ran his fingers through his hair and smiled at Mike and Ian. "Do you guys want to hear the story?" Josh asked, smiling impishly. Both boy's nodded, and then Mike looked over at the clock, then at Josh. "Go get ready first. We have to get down to that studio for the interview. Tell us the story in the car" Mike said, as him and Ian stood up, and made their way to the stairs, followed by Josh, and then Matt. "Or you could not tell them the story at all" Matt mumbled behind Josh, as they all went into their respective rooms.

-X- The minute Matt closed the door to his and Josh's room he began whining. "Josh, you caaaan't tell them. They'll laugh at me" Matt said, sitting on Josh's bed while Josh looked around in the closet. "Why not? We spend every day with them, they should at least know some stuff about us" Josh argued as he searched through his clothes for something to wear. Matt got up and walked into the closet, handing Josh a pair of slim black jeans. Josh smiled at him, and pulled them on once Matt had walked out, then pulled on a white t-shirt, and a leather jacket, that both him and Matt shared. He excited the closet and sat down beside Matt, who was pulled on socks. "I know they should. But they might think I'm shallow" Matt said, watching while Josh pulled on his black high top converse. Then Matt stood up and walked into the closet, pulling on a pair of jeans, a plain navy blue v-neck t-shirt and a grey zip up hoodie. "They wont. Plus, it worked out okay" Josh said, handing Matt his own shoes, then walking over to the table they used for their deoderants, colognes and hair products, and began straightening bits of his hair, that refused to lay flat. Matt walked up beside him and took the flat iron, then straightened the front of his own hair. "Yeah but..." Matt said, putting down the flat iron, and turning it off. "But?" Josh asked, putting his, and Matt's guitars in cases. "Nothing, lets go" Matt said, taking his guitar from Josh, and walking from the room. "Okaaaay" Josh said, picking up his guitar and leaving the room as well, closing the door behind him.

-X- Once the van had been packed, the boys all climbed into the car, Ian driving with Mike in the passengers seat beside him. Josh and Matt sat in the back, sharing a pack of M&M's, while Matt looked through Josh's lyric book. "You two look like a couple of kindergarteners sharing candy while reading Peter Rabbit" Mike said, turning around to look at the two in the back Matt looked up from Josh's lyric book and made a face at Mike. "I never liked Peter Rabbit. I was more of a 'Mona the Vampire' kind of kid" Matt said, looking back down at the book, leaning in closer to read small notes Josh had made in the margin. "You know 'Mona the Vampire' was a television show, right?" Ian asked, only looking away from the road briefly to look at Matt. "That was the point. Matt prefers t.v. over education" Josh said, pouring a couple of M&M's into his mouth. Matt looked up and smiled at Josh, then, once again went back to the book. "So, you gonna tell us the story now?" Mike asked. "Y'know, some of these lyrics are really good..." Matt said, hoping it would be a good subject change. Josh laughed and stuffed the candy package into a plastic bag they used for garbage. "Okay, well I was friends with this girl, Maggie. And me, and her had a few classes with Matt. And like, we both were kind of like 'man, that Matt kid is such a loser' and then Matt just started talking to me all the time and stuff, and Maggie and I had no clue why." Josh said, smiling at Matt, who then punched Josh's arm. "You guys did not think I was a loser. You just liked to whisper in corners together" Matt added. Josh rolled his eyes and continued on with his story. "Whatever. Okay, so on day me and Matt were sitting in my bedroom, looking at my guitars, and then Matt was just like 'I like Maggie' And I was like 'Dude, thats weird' and Matt was like 'she's hot' and I was like 'That's weirder. Why don't you just ask her out?' and he was like 'That's the only reason I became your friend. Cause I wanted Maggie to like me' and I was like '.....Kay, leave my house' and then... I don't know what happened... Me and Maggie just kind of drifted apart, and me and Matt made a band" Josh said. Matt nodded and sighed. She was really hot" Matt muttered, running his fingers through his hair. Josh punched his arm, and then Mike turned to Josh, and gave him an impish smile. "So, who was she?" Mike asked. Josh cocked his head to the side and gave Mike a weird look. "Maggie? She was my friend...?" Josh said, earning him an exasperated sigh from Mike. "No you idiot. The girl you liked... The one that stopped you from liking anyone else." Mike said. Josh sighed. "Oh no one. I just didn't like anyone at our school" Josh said, taking his lyric book from Matt. Mike looked over at Mike and pointed at him. "Do you know who it is?" Mike asked. "Beats me. Josh never told me anything" Matt said, pouting. Then he reached over and pointed to a song in Josh's book. "I like that one. The lyrics are nice." Matt said. Mike sighed and turned around. For the rest of the drive, everyone stared out the windows, not talking. Josh was almost sure that Matt was thinking about Maggie, who, as far as they knew, never knew that Matt liked her.

-X- Josh jumped out of the car happily, and started jogging on the spot, trying to get the feeling back in his legs. "Why do they always ask us to do interviews outside of Vancouver?" Ian said, stretching out his legs as well. "two hours of hell" Matt said, picking up his and Josh's guitars, and heading towards the side door of the studio, where they had a live interview, and then a small, two song set. Josh took his guitar from Matt, and walked inside, jumping as a group of people began to surround them, taking their equiptment in one direction, and their bodies in another. The rest of the time between the time they arrived, and the time they started the interview went by in a blur, as the boys moved from make up, to hair, to wardrobe, to hair once more, to the sound booth, to sound check, back to the sound booth and then to a a long, plush sofa, where the boys were told to wait until the interview started. "These things are so high maintenance." Josh muttered, as he watched camera men walk past the set. Matt nodded in agreement, and took a long drink from a water bottle that he had brought with him. Mike tapped his toe against the fake wooden floor of the set, taking a deep breath. "I don't understand why they need us here so early. I mean, we've probably been sitting here longer then the entire interview is going to take. " Mike said, shifting uncomfortably in the botton down shirt, and jacket they had given him to wear. Josh smiled at Matt, who smiled back. Neither of them had to change their clothes, since they were wearing what they would have put them in anyway.

-X- About five minutes later, the host came by, and introduced himself to the boys, taking a few minutes to chat with them about their upcoming tour, and little bits about their personal lives, as they waited for the cameras to be set up. Then the cheesy talk show music began to play, signaling that the show was starting, and all the boys sat up, and pretended to be interested. The host then turned to the boys and smiled. ”Welcome to Celebrity Gossip. I’m here with the boys from Marianas Trench, Mike, Ian, Matt and Josh. So, you all know that this is live, and nothing you say can be edited out, right?” The host said, his voice obnoxiously cheerful. The boys nodded and then the host continued. ”Which means, it would probably be a good idea to really think about the question, and your answer before you speak. Also, if you do not feel comfortable answer a question, you may just say ‘pass’ and we will bring up a new question. Ready for the first question?” The host asked. The boys nodded once more, and the host read off a small electronic device in his hand. The question reads… ‘Do you four all live together, or with your parents? And if you live together, what’s the house like most of the time?’” The host read, then looked up expectantly at the boys. Josh looked at the other boys, and they all looked at each other in turn. Then they whispered to each other, trying to figure out who should speak. Finally someone handed Matt the mic, and he chuckled a bit before speaking. ”We all live together, but Josh’s mom still comes and helps us clean, and do laundry sometimes. Otherwise it can become a total mess. But only when we go on tour, otherwise we keep it in order.” Matt said, then handed the mic to Ian. ”The four of us get along quite well actually. Except for when Josh’s cat does something stupid… Or like… Matt sets something on fire. We mostly keep to ourselves, since we can get pretty sick of each other as well.” Ian said, smiling as Matt took the mic back. ”I don’t set things on fire often though. Only few times.” Matt said, causing Josh to start giggling. ”Okay, next question then. This one is for Matt. It says ‘Matt. There’s a rumor going around that you’re the band pimp, and often like to flirt with fans on tours. Is that true?’” Matt laughed, and Josh smiled at him, as he searched his mind for a good answer. ”It’s partially true. I’m not really a ‘pimp’. Like, I don’t bring multiple people back to my hotel room every night, because I usually bunk with Josh, and he’d kill me. But I am pretty flirty, and I prefer hooking up on tour, as opposed to say… Going out with some girl from Vancouver, that likes me because I’m famous” Matt said. The host nodded and read the next question. ”Next question. It’s for all of you. ‘Do you feel like Josh is often stealing the spot light? Like, do you feel like you don’t get as much attention as you deserve?’” The host read. Ian took the mic and smiled. ”Sounds like this one is for all of us besides Josh. Umm. We never feel… I don’t know… Jealousy towards him? He’s the lead singer, therefore we understand that he’s going to get more attention then the rest of him. He’s probably the most humble out of all of us, so we couldn’t have any negative feelings towards him.” Ian said. Josh smiled at Ian, and he smiled back. The boys continued to answer questions, Josh blushing every time something personal was asked of him. One question that made Josh laugh for 5 minutes straight, was one that had said “Josh, will you marry me?”. It had made all the members laugh, and once they were able to contain themselves, Matt said “Yes. Yes he will”, causing them to begin laughing again. ”Okay, well we only have a small bit of time left, so I’ll just read this last question. It’s for Josh, but it’s a bit personal. Ready?” The host asked. Josh sat forward in his seat and he nodded. ”It says ‘When you and your band started out, and finally hit it big, did you personally leave anyone important behind? If so, do you still keep in contact with them?’” The host read. Josh ran his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath. ”Gee… Um… Well…” Josh said. Matt laughed and put his hand on Josh’s back ”It’s not a trick question Josh…” Matt said between chuckles. Josh smiled at him, and leant forward, so that his elbows were rested on his knees. ”I uh… I kind of did leave a friend of mine, but that was before the band even got big. It was around the time me and Matt became friends, and we formed a small band, and the band had sort of taken over my life for a bit… I guess it still is a bit.” Josh said, Matt stared right at Josh as he spoke, knowing that he was talking about Maggie. ”As for the second part of the question… I haven’t kept in contact, which I feel bad for. They were a really great friend, and I know I’ve broken a lot of promises to them.” Josh said, than looked at the Host, waiting for him to ask the next part of the question. ”Okay, next part. ‘Would you say friendship, and relationship are more important than fame, or does being famous rule out everything?’” The host read. Josh rubbed his face with his hands and stared at the wall. ”Wow. Um… I have a feeling this one has to do with the first question. Um. I never really chose fame over friendship… I more chose passion over friendship. My music meant a lot of me, as it was a way for me to express my emotions, and my creativity, and although friendships are important, I feel like… Following your dreams, and doing what makes you happy, and what you truly want to do, to be, rules over friendship. I feel that… Wow, I sound like such a d**k for saying that. I think I did give up a friendship for something that meant a lot to me, but I also made friends along the way, and I truly hope that friend can forgive me, for anything I did that may have hurt them, was not intentional.” Josh said. The host nodded and continued to read. ”Last part. ‘Have you ever truly loved a girl?’” The host said, looking like he was ready to burst. The rest of the band members looked at him, and Josh turned bright red. ”Pass” Josh said. The host sighed, obviously looking forward to hearing the answer. Matt put his hand lightly on Josh’s back, and leaned over to whisper in his ear while the host signed the show off. ”It’s not no one.” He said, before smiling and waving at the camera. Josh sighed and shook his head, then ran off stage once the cameras were off, and made his way to the small dressing room bathroom to fix his hair, and wash off any make up they had put on him.

♪♫ Maggie sat on the couch just staring at the television with wide-eyes. She hadn’t seen Josh in so long and she had to say even though he was probably wearing make-up or something he still looked the same, totally hot. The whole show just made her so happy expect towards the end. She’d laugh, she’d roll her eyes but when Josh actually got asked her questions, she was practically hanging off the edge of the couch. She wasn’t mad about his answers nor was she happy but she was surprised about a few things. Did Josh really expect her to forgive him after what happened? He had been there all the time, he was the one she went to when a guy was being mean to her, he was the one she told her secrets to, and he was the one who secretly held her heart without knowing. When the show ended she simply gave a gentle laugh before shaking her head and walking up the stairs of her house. She stopped on the 10th step and looked on the wall to the left where a picture was hanging. The old photo held a boy and a girl around the age of 12 or 13 laughing while running around. Why can’t times be like that again? Maggie thought to herself as she took another step but suddenly she felt air pushing past her as she tumbled down the stairs. Her body laid in a heap on the floor while she whimpered in pain till her brother’s feet were in front of her. Her ice blue eyes looked up to see her brother shaking his head before helping her up. “You really need to learn how to walk, Maggie.” The blonde girl just glared at her brother before sticking her tongue out at him. “Whatever, so anyway are you still going to pick me up the night of the concert?” Nathan, her brother, just stared at Maggie as if she was crazy...well she probably was. Nathan simply raised an eyebrow before speaking quietly to his sister. “I though you didn’t like Marianas Trench, at least that’s what you’ve always told me since the incident.” Kat cringed before replying sharply to her brother. “I do but Cam can’t go alone and she really wants to go. None of her other friends can go.” The boy just leaned against the counter gently before nodding his head causing Maggie to smile. “Thanks Nathan! I don't wanna go through the crowds." Maggie complained which earned her a glare from Cam who looked as if she was the richest person on the planet. Sighing the girl continued onward and was pulled here, there, everywhere for an hour or so till Maggie got hungry and decided to get something to eat. On her way back to Cam she stopped at a few places till eventually she found her best friend smiling happily as she bought a dress. "You're gonna where a dress?" Cam turned sharply and gasped loudly. "Uh duh! I have to look good so they'll notice me!" Maggie just laughed and rolled her eyes before Cam asked her something. "What are you wearing to the concert?" Maggie raised an eyebrow and pointed to her outfit that she had on then before earning a glare from Cam. "You aren't wearing that, come on lets get moving so we can find you an outfit." Maggie trudged behind quietly, hating this more and more. In the end they pulled together an outfit that suited her well and she looked absolutely beautiful in it from what everyone was saying. Sighing quietly as she focused on the road and smiled happily as she spotted her home around the corner. They had been gone for hours and it felt good to be back home but Maggie knew she wouldn't be able to stay there for long. Cam jumped out and grabbed all the bags before running inside, ignoring Nathan who had been sitting on the step laughing. "You gonna be okay tonight?" Nathan asked quietly as he pulled his younger sister into a hug. "Yeah, I'm going to try and enjoy myself but I'm actually looking forward to at least seeing Josh again and Matt." Maggie smiled and went on up to her room where Cam was fully dressed and ready while holding Kat's outfit in her hands. "Come on Kat, time for you to get ready!" It took only an hour before Maggie was ready. Her outfit looked wonderful on her, her hair was unique to her since the black hair flowed down beautifully and her blonde hair was pulled into a tight bun with curls falling around and her bangs were laying to the side, covering one of her eyes. She looked pretty and was finally thinking that maybe tonight would be more fun then she was thinking.

♪♫ The two teenage girls spent a bit of time watching television before they ate and headed out the door with Nathan following close behind. Being an overprotective brother Nathan hated when Maggie drove at night so he insisted that he take her to the concert and then pick her up afterward since Cam was going to some other place for a family reunion or something. Rolling her eyes as Nathan glanced at her she went back to talking to Cam for the few minutes that it took to get there. They said good-bye to Nathan and hopped out as soon as possible before smiling at each other, Maggie actually wanting to have fun tonight. Cam started walking towards the long line of girl and a few guys, maybe thousands of girls, who were all waiting for the gates to open that wouldn't for another hour or so. "Cam, follow me and be quiet." The two girls walked in the other direction, Maggie leading as Cam followed behind complaining about how long the line would be when they got back. Rolling her eyes Maggie finally stopped at a door and knocked till it opened and Jeremy stepped out with a smile. "Can you let us in or are you gonna be a jerk and make us wait with all those girls?" Jeremy laughed and opened the door again, wider so the two girls could go through. "Marianas Trench isn't even here yet so come on and I would never leave two beautiful girls out in the cold for practically two hours!" Jeremy laughed before leading the girls out to the stage area that was completely deserted. "Wow, I usually see this packed with wild girls." Cam giggled before walking off in the opposite direction than Maggie. Jeremy smiled to Kat before tilting his head to the stage. "Go on." A huge smile filled Maggie's lips as she walked over to the stage and hopped on. She twirled around a few times before sighing happily. "I wanna be able to be up on a stage like this one day...to hear fans calling my name and to sing my feelings out from my heart." Jeremy smiled and laughed at Maggie as she almost tripped over a cord. "Everyone wants that and only a few can actually make it but I think you have the potential to make it big." Maggie turned to the boy and raised an eyebrow before he chuckled. "You were singing in the park the first day you moved to Calgary and I was walking by, you have a great voice and would be a great singer, you also play guitar well." Maggie just stared at him before watching the boy walk off the stage and seeing Cam come up suddenly holding drinks and food. The two explored for a while till the guards started letting people in so Cam and Maggie took their seat, Cam sitting impatiently on the edge to the point where she was almost touching the stage as Maggie just rolled her eyes and continued eating her candy which she was more interested in.

-X- Josh finally made his way to the van, ten minutes later then the other boys. ”Finally. We were afraid you got kidnapped or something. We were just planning a search party” Matt said to Josh, as he climbed into the seat beside him. ”Shut up. Ian drive please. We’re going to be late” Josh said, his voice emotionless. Matt stared at him, then undid his seatbelt and slid closer. ”What’re you thinking about?” Matt asked Josh. Josh jumped, and rested his head against the closed window. ”About how if you don’t go back to you seat, I’m going to yell ‘stop’ and laugh as you go flying through the windshield.” Josh muttered, ignoring Matt’s pout, as he slid back to his seat and did up his belt again. ”Josh is bullying me” Matt whined. Mike rolled his eyes and turned around. ”I can see why. You get so annoying sometimes” Mike said, smiling at Josh, who just turned to stare out the window. ”Jeez, I wonder what crawled up his a**” Mike muttered as he turned around. Suddenly Josh turned around and looked at Matt. ”How is it, that fans can know you better then yourself?” Josh asked, his voice snappy, but vulnerable at the same time. Matt cocked his head in confusion, then nodded as he understood what Josh meant. ”That fan question to you… About the friend… It’s what’s getting to you” Matt said. Josh rolled his eyes. ”It’s not that its getting to me. It’s just… It sounded more like a personal attack, more then an innocent question. Like they knew the answer, and just asked it to hear me say it myself” Josh said. Matt sighed and folded his hands in his lap. ”Every musician that gets famous is going to have to give something up. The fan probably just wanted to know what you gave up” Matt said. Josh shook his head. ”It’s more then that. And I gave Maggie up way before we got famous. I gave Maggie up before we even met Ian and Mike. Before we even had a real band. I didn’t give Maggie up for my dream, I gave Maggie up for you” Josh spat at Matt, then unbuckled his seat belt and opened the door. ”Whoa, whoa. Josh, this vehicle is moving.” Ian said. Josh stared at Ian, and closed the door. ”Then stop it” Josh said, opening the door once more when Ian stopped the van. Josh stepped out onto the street, leaving the other three boys all staring at each other in confusion.

-X- Matt sighed and unbuckled his own seatbelt. ”We’ll meet you at the concert hall. Get the stuff ready, and we’ll be there for sound check.” Matt said, getting out and running after Josh. ”Jo- err… Fernando! Stop!” Matt said, running to catch up with Josh, who was walking quickly. Josh turned around and stared at Matt. ”Fernando?” Josh asked, his voice cold, and emotionless. Matt looked uncomfortably at his shoes, then back at Josh. ”I didn’t want to call you Josh, in case someone put your name, and your face together” Matt said. Josh sighed, and turned around, walking quickly again. ”What? I was trying to save you the crowd of people!” Matt said, catching up to Josh once more. Josh spun around quickly, causing Matt to walk into him. ”You don’t get it, do you? I’ll never just be Josh. I’ll always be Josh Ramsay, or… Fernando. I want to be Josh. With Maggie, I was Josh” Josh said, turning around and walking farther down the street. Matt sighed and continued to walking. ”You know what Josh? It’s unfair of you to be mad at me about this. None of what happened with Maggie was my fault. It was your fault, and you just can’t face that, so you’re blaming me.” Matt said angrily, causing Josh to stop walking. Josh turned and stared at Matt, who was staring angrily back at him, then turned and sat on a wooden crate outside of a small fruit market. He stared at the road for a minute, then buried his face in his hands and started sobbing. Matt’s face instantly softened, and he walked over to Josh. He put his arm gently over Josh’s shaking shoulder, and pretended not to notice as someone took a picture of the two of them. Josh finally looked up after a few minutes of sobbing, and stared at Matt, his face blank. ”I know… I know its my fault” Josh said softly, before burying his face in his hands once more. Matt sighed and took his arm off Josh’s back. ”It’s not totally your fault. I wouldn’t let you hang out with Maggie. Whenever you tried, I always found a way to make you get out of it. It was my fault, you’re right. I was jealous of how close you two were, and I wanted to be like that with her, but instead I only hung out with you, and while I was so busy trying to get you to not hang out with her, I didn’t hang out with her either…” Matt said. Josh looked up at Matt and wiped his face on his sleeve. ”Still, I’m my own person Matt. I’m responsible for what happened, despite what you may have done. Come on, lets go. We don’t want to be late for the show” Josh said, standing up. Matt smiled and go up as well, and then they both began walking quickly towards the concert hall.

-X- As the boys walked, neither of them said much, until they were only a block away from the concert hall, and Matt finally asked the question which had been on his mind all afternoon. ”What would you do if you saw Maggie again?” Matt asked. Josh looked at the sky thoughtfully, then looked back down at Matt. ”I don’t know” Josh muttered. Matt looked at Josh, a little bit shocked. ”You haven’t ever thought about it?” Matt asked, suddenly feeling self conscious about the amount of times he thought about seeing Maggie again. Josh shook his head. ”No. Not really. I mean… I guess it would be nice to see her, but then I guess I don’t really even want to see her again” Josh said, still being able to remember every detail about her. Her soft, pale skin. Her almost white blonde hair. Her icy blue eyes. He sighed, and finally looked at Matt, who looked completely shocked. ”What?” Josh asked. Matt shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair. ”You don’t want to see her again?” Matt asked. Josh sighed and ran his fingers through his hair as well. ”I mean, it’s not that I don’t. I do, and don’t at the same time. I would love to see her, or I love the idea of seeing her, but part of me doesn’t want to, because I know it wouldn’t be the same. She probably hates me now… and even if I did see her, all she would do is… I don’t know… Vent all of her bottled anger, for me leaving her” Josh said. Matt nodded, understanding. ”You want to just have memories of when you guys were glued to each other, instead of memories of her calling you a selfish, careless dickhead with no feelings for others.” Matt said. Josh nodded. ”Something like that…” Josh said, as he opened the side door for Matt to go through.

-X- The two boys made their way through the dark backstage, trying not to step on wires as they walked. They smiled at the other two, who sat on the ground, plugging cords into amps. They stood up, and Ian made his way to Matt, while Josh went to the microphone stand, adjusting it to the right height. ”What happened?” Ian asked Matt quietly. Matt shook his head and attached his black guitar strap to his guitar, putting the one he had been using into the guitar case. ”Nothing really. We just talked. He’s fine now.” Matt said, walking backstage to get Josh’s guitar, which was leaning against a table where they kept bottles of water, towels and first aid kits. Matt picked up the case, and then brought it over to Josh, who smiled in thanks, and then unzipped the case and pulled out his guitar, which he then hooked up with cordless amp, so that he could run around on stage, without breaking anything. Then he stood by the mic, tuning his guitar, until it sounded perfect, and played random notes while Matt and Mike tuned to match Josh’s. Then Josh turned on the mic and took a deep breath, tapping it before he spoke. ”Testing? Josh said, then went back stage, and let the other boys finish their tuning and mic adjusting. Matt was the second person to go into the dressing room, while Mike continued to fuss over the sound his bass was making, and while Ian walked around, trying to help the lighting technician fix the lights so that none of the were blinded, but so that they all got hit with the light somehow. Josh stood in front of the mirror, fixing his hair. Matt walked over and began flat ironing his hair, straightening small bits at a time, so that it looked exactly the way he wanted it to look. ”Can I just wear what I’m wearing?” Josh asked, brushing his blue bangs away from his eyes. Matt looked him over and shook his head. ”Nah. You’d get too hot wearing the jacket, and then if you sweat, everyone would be able to see because of the white shirt.” Matt said, pulling off his sweater, and putting on a black dress jacket over his shirt. Josh pulled off his jacket as well, and then his shirt, and put on a plain black button down shirt and a red tie. Then he sat down with Matt, and watched as Mike and Ian got ready as well. Once they were all ready, they made their way through the backstage, and took deep breaths between small sips of water as they watched the opening band perform. Mike and Ian were off whispering about some show they saw, that made fun of celebrities, while Matt and Josh went through a list of the songs, in the order they wanted to play. When the opening band finally finished, the boys all made their way onto the stage, smiling as they set themselves up. Josh was the first to be ready and pressed his lips against the microphone.

-X- ”Hello Vancouver.” Josh said into the microphone, smiling as the crowd cheered in response. He turned to Matt and smiled, and Matt smiled, and nodded in response, and got ready to begin playing. The Josh pressed his mouth against the cold metal of the microphone and began speaking again. ”You all probably know the first song we’ve decided to play. Does… Cross my Heart ring a bell?” Josh said, smiling as the crowd burst into cheers, and then he shifted his guitar strap on his shoulder and got ready to begin singing, as Matt, Mike and Ian began to play the song.

    ”So here’s another day,
    I’ll spend away from you.
    Another night,

    Then again so am I.
    Take what you wanna take,
    What you wanna take
    what you…

    I miss the stupid things,
We’d go to sleep at night.
You’d wake me up and kick me out of bed at 3 A.M.
    Pick up the phone
I hear you saying dirty things to me
    Do what you wanna do
    What you wanna do
    What you…

    Take me with you,
    I start to miss you.
    Take me home,
I don’t wanna be alone tonight!”

Josh sang, moving around the stage, moving to the edge to touch finger tips with fans from the front row, before moving back to his mic stand, where he began to play his guitar along with Matt. Josh continued to sing, moving through each song they played almost flawlessly, ecstatic at the energy the crowd was feeding to them. By the time the concert was over Josh was exhausted, but still had adrenaline rushing through his veins. ”Is it just me, or were we on fire tonight?” Matt asked as all four of them moved through the dark hallways towards the dressing you. ”I’m pretty sure we were on fire.” Josh said, wiping his forehead with a towel he grabbed on his way back stage. The boys entered the dressing room happily, all of them laughing and humming along to songs that continued to play on in their heads, even after they had left the stage.

-X- Once the boys had cooled off, and changed into t-shirts and jeans, they all made their way to the tour bus, gasping and laughing as the looked around inside. Then they all walked back and forth, taking equipment from the stage, to the small room they used for their stuff on the bus, then they all went around, putting stickers with their names on them, on the small narrow doors that led to each closet sized bedroom. Josh got the room on the first floor of the bus, that was right across from Matt. Mike complained, saying he wanted a first floor room, and that Matt should have to stay upstairs, since Josh got the first room, and it wouldn’t be fair to kick him out. ”But me and Josh share everrryyyything. You can’t make him go up and down those pain in the a** stairs just to get a t-shirt, can you?” Matt whined. Josh nodded in agreement. ”It wouldn’t be very nice to make me go all the way up and down… Not nice at all” Josh said, going into his room to let Lucy out of her cat cage. Josh listened carefully, trying to hear what Matt and Mike agreed on, and was just about to go back into the hall, when Matt burst into his room jumping up and down. ”I got the room! I got the room!” Matt cried happily. Josh shook his head and giggled at his friend. Then Matt stopped jumping, but still had a childish smile on his face. ”Just so you know, we’ve started moving. Next stop, Calgary! We should be there right in time for sound check. So, don’t worry about figuring out what you’re wearing and stuff. We can do that there.” Matt said. Josh nodded and cuddled Lucy in his lap. ”So, what are you planning on doing for the rest of the night?” Matt asked him. Josh continued to pet Lucy, while staring at the wall. ”I’ll probably take a shower, then sleep. I’m exhausted” Josh murmured. Matt nodded. ”You did a lot of running around. So… I guess I’ll leave you to that then. Night Josh. I’ll see you tomorrow” Matt said, getting up. Once he left, Josh got up, and went through his suitcases, searching for his pajama pants. Then he grabbed a towel off the pile that was left in a metal wrack in his room, and made his way to the small on-bus bathroom, where he stood under the steaming water, letting the droplets hit his skin, as he tried to relax his aching muscles. He stayed in there much longer then he normally would have, and by the time he got out, his body felt limp, and his eyes were having trouble staying open. He dried off quickly, then pulled his pajamas on, and put heat protecting serum in his hair, so that it wouldn’t get dried out from all the flat ironing he’d be doing for the next month or two. Then he made his way back to his small room, and climbed into the bed, cuddling up against Lucy, who lay purring beside him.

-X- Josh could feel the movement of the bus, but still couldn’t tell where he was. He could feel Lucy curled up beside him, warm and soft, but still hadn’t realized that it was her. A small knock on the door sent Josh back to reality, and he opened his eyes to the small, bright room around him. ”Yeah?” He croaked. Matt opened the door, fully dressed and showered. ”It’s like 3 in the afternoon dude. You’ve been sleeping a freaking long time. We stopped off and got you a coffee and a bagel, so it’s in the kitchen when you’re hungry. We should be in Calgary in half an hour to an hour.” Matt said. Josh nodded and looked at Lucy as Matt closed the door. ”3 pm?” He cooed to the small cat, who meowed in reply. Then he sat up and rubbed sleep from his eyes. He slid out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans, a loose Hurley t-shirt and a white pull over sweat shirt, then made his way into the small kitchen area of the bus, with Lucy walking behind him. He pulled down a small bowl and filled it with food for Lucy, then placed it on the floor. The little cat instantly began to eat, making Josh smile, as he picked up his coffee and bagel from the counter and joined Matt on the couch. ”What’re you watching?” Josh asked, biting into his bagel. Matt looked over at Josh briefly, then looked back at the television. ”Some sort of celebrity re-cap show. They take clips from shows and then re-play them, and try to explain what the celeb could be going through, and stuff like that. I was flipping channels and I heard ‘Trench’ So I’ve been watching to see if they say anything about us.” Matt said. Josh nodded and took another bite of his bagel, watching the television as well. Josh sat forward as the person who was doing the show began to talk abut him. ”The boys from Marianas Trench were seen on one of those sleazy talk shows yesterday, where a fan could post an anonymous question, and have the boys answer them. The last three questions were all to Josh, from one person, who seemed to be attacking Joshua Ramsay, more then they were getting answers. The questions made the singer squirm a little bit, making people wonder ‘what on Earth could this fan possibly need to get out of Ramsay so bad, that they had to embarrass him on national television?’ Whatever he did, most would say it should have been dealt with in a different manner, rather then putting the poor boy on the spot. One thing that did capture our attention however, was the last question for Ramsay, where the fan asked ‘Have you ever been in love with a girl’ Or something along those lines. Ramsay said ‘Pass’ Causing us to wonder… What could that boy possibly be hiding? Is it that he’s gay, or maybe that he has been in love with a girl, and just never told anyone. Although we’d all like to know that the singer could possibly be hiding, it appears that no one knows, not even his fellow band members. We’ll be keeping an eye out for anything from the punk-pop star, and keep you updated.” They said. Josh stared at the television, and Matt stared at Josh. ”You aren’t gay, are you?” Matt asked. Josh punched Matt and took a long drink from the paper cup his coffee had come in. ”No, no. God, I hate shows like that. Why do they have to make everyone’s personal lives their business?” Josh muttered angrily. Matt shrugged. ”Viewers eat that s**t up. They get amazing ratings. Especially when it’s gossip like ‘who could Ramsay possibly be with?’ Every one wants to know that, so they watch to stay updated. Now the entire world thinks your gay. Congrates” Matt said, patting Josh’s back before standing up. Lucy walked over and sat down beside him, curling up beside his leg. Josh sighed and stood up as well, then walked to the back of the bus to help Matt get everything ready for when they had to run from the bus, to the stage, and back. He strapped the two guitars and the bass together, so that one of them could carry three things as once.

-X- When the bus finally stopped, the boys all jumped off happily, and stared in disbelief at the amount of people already lined up. ”Jeez” Josh murmured as someone threw a couple of flowers at him. He picked them up and placed them in his mouth, then picked up the three guitars and carried them through the stage door. He walked across the stage, with the flowers still in his mouth, and dropped the three cases on the floor gently, before heading back outside to get one of Ian’s drums. Matt and Josh both walked in, smacking each other with the flowers, sending petals flying everywhere, too busy having fun to notice the two girls in the front row. Josh turned around as Ian called his name, then gasped as Matt whipped his back with a rose. ”Ooowww. Matt, you d**k that hurt” Josh cried, smacking Matt back, equally as hard. Mike walked in and began to take straps and cases off things, while giving the boys dirty looks. ”Can you two do something useful for once in your lives? Josh, hook up the cordless amps. Matt… Just stay out of the way.” Mike said. Both of them soldier saluted and then ran off to do their various tasks. Matt walked across stage, carrying clothing bags, and a duffel bag filled with their hair products towards the dressing room, but stopped short when he finally noticed two girls sitting in the front row. His eyes went wide as he recognized one of them, but didn’t say anything, and continued walking, ignoring the butterflies in his stomach. Maggie… He thought to himself, looking over at Josh who was humming to himself as he hooked up the amps. Matt stood there thinking for a minute, but finally decided that telling Josh wouldn’t be a good idea, since he had said that he wasn’t sure he wanted to see Maggie again, and then walked the rest of the way to the dressing room to get everything set up. Josh stood up and tugged at the sleeves of his sweater, then pulled it off and threw it to the side, as he began adjusting microphone stand heights. ”You know what I hate?” Josh mumbled as Mike walked past him, carrying Josh’s and Matt’s guitars. ”What Josh. What do you hate?” Mike asked, not even pretending to be interested. ”How we adjust the stands to the exact way we like them, and make sure everything works properly, and then when the other band goes on, they somehow manage to mess everything up. Can’t they bring their own microphones?” Josh whined as he locked his stand to the proper height. Mike rolled his eyes, and Ian sighed. ”Sorry Mike, I know you think Josh is just being overly picky about stuff, but its true. It’s really obnoxious when they mess with my drum set. They should bring their own.” Ian said. Josh smiled triumphantly and then picked up his guitar and walked to the mic, turning it on. ”Play your new song! Play your new song!” Matt said as he stepped back onto stage. Josh shook his head. ”I can’t” Josh said, not noticing where Matt was staring. Ian pushed his drum set around, and Mike made his way to the lighting booth. ”Play part. Just for the sound check.” Ian said, sitting down to make sure his drums were exactly the way he liked them. Josh looked up at Mike in the booth and began to strum his guitar, smiling as Mike gave him a thumbs up, saying his guitar sounded good, and in tune. Then he pressed his lips against the mic and began to sing a few lines from the song he was writing.

“And I do, want you to know,
I’ll hold you up above everyone.
And I do, want you to know,
That I think you’d be good to me,
And I’d be soo good to you.”

Josh sang, taking a small bow as the other three boys began to cheer. ”I like it” Mike said through the speakers in the lighting booth. ”Merci beaucoup” Josh said, before walking over to Matt’s guitar to tune it. Matt walked over to Ian and nudged him. ”See that blonde girl, sitting there?” Matt whispered in Ian’s ear. Ian looked over and nodded. ”Yeah. She’s really pretty” Ian murmured. Matt nodded in agreement. ”That’s Maggie.” Matt said. Ian turned to Matt, his eyes wide. ”Josh’s old friend Maggie?” Ian asked, his voice sounding shocked, and hollow. ”Yeah. That one. Don’t let Josh see her, or he may fall apart on stage.” Matt said. Ian nodded and then looked over at Josh, who was continuing to him as he tuned Mike’s bass.

-X- Once everything had been set up, the boys all stood around in the change room, getting ready while listening to the opening band. Ian was whispering to Mike about Maggie, making sure he knew not to mention anything to Josh. Josh stood in front of the mirror, fixing his hair. Matt handed Josh a neon blue dress shirt, and a pair of slim gray jeans, which Josh took, smiling at Matt ask he walked back to the wrack where the clothes were hanging to find an outfit for himself. Josh for dressed, and completed his look with a loose white tie, and black high top converse. Once they were all ready they made their way to the stage, and watched the ending of the opening bands performance. Matt smiled as he looked at Maggie and her friend, who were now difficult to see with all the people around them. When the other band ran off stage, Josh groaned as he noticed his mic stand was much shorter then how he had set it up earlier. ”I hate people” he mumbled as he walked on stage, causing Matt to chuckle. Josh picked up his guitar, and began fixing his microphone stand, then he turned to Matt and mouthed “All to Myself?”. Matt nodded and then mouthed the words to the other boys, who nodded, and got ready to play. ”Good evening Calgary” Josh said happily into the microphone, giggling as the crowd began to scream. ”The first song we’re going to play is called ‘All to Myself’, and I’m almost sure, you all know it.” Josh said, turning and nodding briefly to Matt, who began playing. Josh then pressed his lips against the microphone, and took a deep breath, before singing.

    ”I don’t patronize.
I realize, I’m losing and this is my real life.
I’m half asleep, and I am wide awake.
This habit is always so hard to break.
I don’t wanna be, the bad guy.
I’ve been blaming myself and I think you know why
I’m killing time, and times killing you every way that I do.

Did you say please just follow me, I thought you wanted me

This isn’t what, I wanted but. I can’t keep my filthy ******** mouth shut.
It’s not enough, it’s never enough.
And I wish I could breathe without getting it stuck.
Can’t focus is, but I try it, over and over again.

Josh sang, walking around stage, singing and bouncing around to the beat of the music. He continued to sing until he got to the bridge, where he slowed down, and made his way to the edge of the stage. ”Please just follow me, I thought you wanted me, cause I want you all to myself. I can try and suck it up, I just can’t suck it up, make me feel like…” Then he walked back to his microphone stand and went back into the chorus.

” Did you say please just follow me
I thought you wanted me, cause I can't stay with someone else
I'll try and suck it up, I just can't ******** it up
I want you all to myself”

He sang, stopping as a gasp escaped his lips, his eyes locking with a very familiar face. His breath quickened as he studied her face. She still looked the same, only older, and more beautiful. The rest of the band stopped playing, and Matt met eyes with Ian as they realized who Josh had met eyes with. Josh dropped the microphone and continued to stare at her, unsure of what to do. To him, time had stopped still, and she was the only person in the room. ”Maggie” He whispered. Then he turned, and walked off stage, without looking at anyone as he did so.

Jeremy had returned and was suddenly laughing at my face as I looked towards Cam. “You heard me Maggie, I would do anything to just jump on stage and kiss Josh right then and there.” Cam smiled at her friends before becoming interested in her popcorn again. “I thought you weren’t one of those crazy fan girls?!” The blonde girl yelled out more loudly then she really needed too. “I’m not but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to kiss Josh Ramsay.” After that Cam stood up and walked towards the bathroom leaving Maggie astonished and Jeremy laughing his head off. “I can’t believe it...someone kill me!” Jeremy stopped laughing abruptly and stared at his friend for a while before shaking his head and smiling gently. “Maggie can you do me a favor?” Raising an eyebrow the girl nodded, now worried as to what exactly she’d be doing for the boy. “Can you ask Cam if she wants to go on a date with me next Friday?” Now it was Maggie’s turn to start laughing and that’s exactly what she did. It wasn’t that she thought Cam and Jeremy wouldn’t make a good couple since they would it was just that they both loved each other but were too shy to say anything. “Sure kiddo but you owe me Starbucks then.” The blonde headed boy laughed gently before nodding and heading back to work again just as her best friend rounded the corner and sat down again with a sad look. “What happened dear?” Maggie asked with concern in her voice as she poked her friend in the cheek to try and make her laugh. The both of them turned and looked at each other for a sec before bursting into random laughter which caused all the other people around them to turn with weird looks. Being childish Maggie stuck her tongue out at the people before turning back around and messing with the hem of her shirt. “Why do you always chew your shirt sleeve when you’re wearing a jacket or long sleeved shirt?” Cam asked randomly as she made weird faces to crazy girls over near them. “Umm I only do that when I’m thinking about my past.” This made the brunette stop her childish antics and turn to Maggie with a look of sadness. “Nathan says you don’t like talking about your past but...can you at least tell me why you don’t like with your parents.” That’s right; she used to live with her whole family till recently when she reached the breaking point. It was a few months after Josh and Matt left that it turned sour; Maggie wouldn’t talk to anyone in her family but her brother so her parents kicked her out, something she never really understood. After that Nate got custody of Maggie and so they moved up here since she needed to escape the memories. When they got up here to Calgary she started knew, happy that no one knew that she had been best friends with Josh before. “I got kicked out so Nate took me in, after that we moved up here and it’s been that way ever since. Laughing quietly to herself she covered her ears quickly when she heard the girl’s behind her screaming as the opening band came on. “Jeez...” Maggie stood up and cleaned herself off before she walked over to the bathroom. Thankfully it was deserted since every girl was outside so she did her business before heading out to wash her hands and accidentally bumping into someone. “Oh, I’m so sorry!”] Maggie called as she looked the girl over to make sure she was okay. “Don’t worry about...Maggie? Jazz was a girl who she had spent a lot of time with when Josh couldn’t hang out which was a lot so she grew fond of the girl and was sad to have to leave her behind. “So are you and Josh together or something?” Jazz asked carefully with a questioning tone. Maggie looked shocked for a moment before shaking her head and drying her hands off. “Oh no, I haven’t seen or heard from Josh since he left.” Jazz mouthed and ‘oh’ before waving bye and leaving Maggie to her thoughts. It seemed like no matter what she did she couldn’t escape her past so maybe she wasn’t supposed to; maybe she needed to talk to Josh again to at least find out if he even cared. Muttering randomly to herself the blonde left the bathroom and moved out from the bathroom back to her seat where Cam was bouncing around in her seat. “Wow I think you’ve had too much sugar Cam, seriously.” Maggie laughed and got a glare from Cam. “Oh whatever Kat, at least I’m actually excited to see Marianas Trench.” Staring at her best friend she just stayed silent before eating more of her candy, boy she was going to be fat after this.

Her lips moved along quietly as she listened to the words of the song then the song ended and she spotted that the boys were about to start. Placing her I-pod away Maggie sat up in the chair and directed her eyes to the boys on stage. Her eyes flickered to Mike and Ian, the two that she never really got to meet before her eyes fell onto Matt. He didn’t change much, he just looked older yet he still had a childish look on his face. Her memories from before came flying through her head but one moment stuck out the most and it was the one that Maggie would never forget. The two of them had been bored one day so they walked over to a park nearby where they lived in Vancouver. No one ever seemed to go to the park anymore since everyone had something else to do so Maggie and Josh spent hours there till night fell and they were both lying in the grass as the rain fell around them, Maggie was close to Josh, shielding her face from the rain as she looked up at Josh with a smile as he listened to his I-pod. That was the first time Maggie had actually admitted to herself that she was completely in love with Josh and nothing would ever change that. The blonde girl blinked blankly for a moment as she pushed the memory away and looked back up to Josh. “Good evening Calgary” His voice made almost every girl shriek with excited but it only made Maggie laugh at the girls who were already trying to jump onto the stage. “Oh Josh, you always did have a way with the girls.” Maggie muttered to herself before returning her eyes to Josh. “The first song we’re going to play is called ‘All to Myself’, and I’m almost sure, you all know it.” Maggie smiled wider as she heard the name of another favorite of hers but more importantly she was just happy to be able to see Josh again. She never hated him before she just couldn’t understand what had happened and she just put the blame on Josh but was there a chance that it was her fault? -X- Stumbling as he walked, Josh made his way through the dark backstage, stumbling and tripped on wires in his hast. Maggie was there. His Maggie. The girl whom he had shared almost every second with up, until a few months ago. Josh continued walking fast, not noticing as the toe of his converse got caught on a wire, sending him flying forward once he tried to step. Luckily, he didn’t fall, just continued to stumble as he made way for the dressing room. He could hear screams and shouts, people wailing for him to come back. He stopped walking and stood there, wondering if he should at least go back and say he needed a minute alone. He shook his head, and continued walking. He needed more then a minute. He needed a good few days. Seeing Maggie had sent a shock through him, pulling back all the memories of her, that Matt, and the other boys had hid away. Locking them away, so that she hardly crossed his mind. But she did. Maggie crossed his mind everyday. He remembered, about a week or two after Matt had dragged him off to spread their demo’s to a few record labels and radio stations, Josh had gone back, and had knocked on Maggie’s door, early in the evening. His mother opened the door, and narrowed her eyes at Josh immediately, who felt his confidence shrink. The look in her eyes had been so cold, that it made Josh shiver, and her tone of voice made him wish he could just sink into the ground. ”What do you want?” She had sneered at him. Josh had just stood there, folding and unfolding his hands, praying his voice wouldn’t shake as he spoke. ”Is Maggie home?” He asked, his voice quiet, but thankfully it wasn’t shaking. ”She is. But because of you, she’s a wreck. Leave my property now, and never come back here again. You’re nothing to this family anymore” She had said, before closing the door in Josh’s face. Just as if someone had actually slammed a door in his face, Josh snapped back to reality, just in time to place his hand against the door knob, and into the dressing room.

-X- Josh flew across the room, tripping over his shoe as he moved, sending himself flying into the soft couch that was placed in the room. He stayed in the same position he had landed in, only focusing on the fact that his entire body was shaking, and that his finger tips were going numb. He stared at the wall, not thinking anything, but Maggie’s name. She was out there, and he wasn’t. He closed his eyes and ran his numb fingers through his hair, taking deep breathes. At first when he opened his eyes, he had no idea where he was, and the entire room looked foreign to him. After a few seconds, the past five to ten minutes came rushing back to him, hitting him like a tidal wave, only he was drowned in flashbacks, not water. He had been singing, the entire concert going great. No one had gotten hurt, and Josh’s voice was in tune. He was moving around the stage, thinking about everything that had happened that day, and what he would do if he ever did see Maggie again. He had heard that she had moved away with her brother, but he didn’t know where. He was also too afraid to go knocking on her parent’s door to find out, the cold stare in Maggie’s mothers eyes made him shiver whenever he thought of them. He closed his eyes and sighed, taking the flashbacks in slowly, as if he were at a buffet, and the memories were food piled up on his fifth plate. The next thing that slid into his mind, as when he first saw her. His eyes had skimmed over her, and the only thing going through his mind was “oh look, there’s Maggie.” And he continued to sing, but only for a moment. For the minute he had thought the word ‘Maggie’, his eyes flew back to the beautiful blonde girl in the audience in front of him. His feet had felt frozen, and thoughts had been flying through his mind as if there were a tornado swirling around, purposely trying to drive him insane, to distract him from the fluttery feeling that was going through his entire body. His body had slowly gone numb, starting from his feet, and then moving up slowly. The mic had slipped from his hand, creating a loud, booming sound as it hit the stage floor, causing a few people to flinch, or remove headphones that were connected to the mic in some way. Then without realizing it, his body had made him move, and he hadn’t returned to reality until he was walking through the dark halls. His shook his head. He had probably looked so stupid. Why would Maggie even care that he had seen her? He should have just put a mental block on her, and continued the concert. He sighed once more, his body shaking even more as he finally realized what had gone on, and how he had ended up, hiding like a 5 year old caught stealing, in his dressing room.

-X- Josh shifted his position, so that he was sitting properly on the couch, and closed his eyes, taking deep breaths as he tried to control his body, which was shaking out of control. He took more deep breaths, concentrating on only one body part at a time, starting with his left foot. Then his right. Then his legs. Then his torso. Soon he had his entire body under control, and sat completely still, staring at his pale reflection in the mirror, across from the couch he sat on. As he stared at his reflection, the boy looking back at him slowly changed, from the eighteen year old, with black-ish hair and blue highlights, to an awkward, younger looking version of Josh. He stared at his sixteen year old reflection, and then he was looking at a television screen. It was his sixteenth birthday. He was inside watching The Little Shop of Horrors with my parents, when his cell phone bleeped, letting him know he had a text message. It was from Maggie, telling him to go into the backyard. He glanced nervously at his parents, and then excused himself, saying that Maggie needed him outside. They nodded, and watched at Josh walked from the living room, through the kitchen and out the back door. Maggie stood, looking smug- in front of a small tent, which she had obviously pitched herself. She smiled and raised an eyebrow at him as he walked across the lawn. ”What’s this?” He asked once he was closer to her. ”Well you see Josh. This is what we call a tent…” She began in her “You’re such an idiot, let me talk slower” voice. Josh nudged her arm gently, then ran his fingers through his hair. ”I know what the tent is stupid. I mean, what are you doing in my backyard, with a tent at like… 9:30 pm” He said, playing self consciously with the collar of his white polo shirt. ”Well, since its your birthday, I thought we’d celebrate. Maggie style” She said, sliding her small frame into the zip up door of the tent. ”There better no be bugs in there…” Josh muttered as he slid in as well. He sat down on Maggie’s light blue sleeping bag, which had been layed down on the floor of the tent, and reached his hand into the mega box of popsicles, which Maggie had brought, and was now nestled between the two of them as they sat there talking. Josh stared into Maggie’s icy blue eyes, and thought to himself, how lucky he was to have a friend like her. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, even back then, when they were still awkward looking, and didn’t really know what they wanted to be like. Sitting there, staring at his best friend as she munched on a popsicle, he realized that he was in love with Maggie, the way he didn’t think he would love anyone. And although his feelings were bubbling up inside of him, he could never tell her. Because he loved her so much, he never wanted to lose her. Even if it meant only being Josh, her lanky, silly best friend for the rest of his life. He threw his popsicle stick onto the pile that they had already been building, and looked at Maggie. ”You’re my best friend Mags. Always have been, always will” He said. She had smiled at him and put her own stick down next to his. ”Same to you” She said, then they both reached into the box, and tore the wrapper off another popsicle, and went back to talking about their dreams, and what they wished their futures would be like, only editing out the bits about each other.

-X- Josh had been so wrapped up in his flashback, that he hadn’t even noticed that someone had come in, until they began talking. ”I don’t care. They can do what they want. None of this matters” He said, then he realized whose voice it was. It was different then the last time he had heard it, but not so much that he couldn’t tell who it was. He didn’t turn around, in case anymore memories came flooding back when he saw her face, but he didn’t have to. She walked over and sat down across from his. He looked into her eyes, and tried to ignore the fluttery feelings that were escalating through his body as he listened to her speak. He noticed tears running down her face as she was nearing the end of what she had to say, and Josh reached out, his hand shaking slightly, as he wiped a tear off her cheek. Then he sighed and looked at the floor. ”I tried to say goodbye. I tried… Lots of times. I wanted to tell you before me and Matt even went out to the studios, but Matt told me that we would be back… And that I would be able to explain everything to you later. He said that you would understand.” He said, his voice shaky and fragile as he spoke. He took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair before he continued, his throat burning as he held back sobs that he had held in for the past months that he hadn’t seen Maggie. ”When we got back, I went to your house first, without even pausing to say hello to Lucy. I was so excited that we got signed, and I wanted to tell you before anyone else. But when I knocked on your door, your mom just told me that I was nothing to your family after what I did to you… “ He said, swallowing hard, wishing the lump in his throat would go away, instead of continuing to get bigger and bigger. ”I wish you had been beside me this whole time… My fame… My success… it was nothing… it meant nothing… Knowing that I didn’t have you in the audience every night, smiling at me like you always would when I did something to make you proud” Josh whispered. Then Maggie wrapped her arms around him, and his body stiffened at first, but then the familiar sent of her relaxed him, and he wrapped his arms around her as well, pulling her into his lap so that he could be closer to him. He closed his eyes, and buried his face in her hair, as broken sobs erupted from his chest, relieved that he was finally able to cry, and be rid of the guilt over what had happened.

-X- Josh continued to sob, until all that came out of him was gasps, and sniffles. He gently removed Maggie from his lap, and wiggled farther over, and rested his head against the arm of the couch, staring at his red eyed, pale faced reflection. He got up, and dampened a towel, and rubbed his face with it, and took a few deep breaths, hoping he looked somewhat normal again. He sat back down beside Maggie and gave her a small smile. ”I’m sorry…” He said quietly, not really sure what he was saying sorry for, or what thing he had done, that he was apologizing for. He sighed, as he realized that he was attempting to say sorry for everything he had done, although he knew that those two words would never be enough to repay Maggie, whom he loved, for everything he had done to hurt her. He had promised that he’d always be there for her, just as she would be for him, and he had broken that promise. Because Matt liked her, and he didn’t want to get in his friends way. Then, just as if he were following cues Matt strode in, and gave Maggie a smile. ”Hey Maggie. Long time no see. You’re looking fantastic, as always” Matt said breezily, sitting down on the other side of Maggie. He flashed her a dazzling smile, and flipped his head, so that his bangs moved from his eyes. Josh felt sick, as he realized that Matt’s advances were working, and he quickly stood up and walked over to the mini fridge to get a bottle of water. ”Hey Josh, grab me on, will ya?” Matt called, before turning his attention back to Maggie. ”It was quite a shock seeing you here tonight. Josh and I had no idea where you had run off to, since we never saw you anywhere in Vancouver. I guess you moved to Calgary… Since you’re… Y’know… In Calgary…” Matt said, taking a sip of the water Josh had thrown to him. Josh sat down, and started chugging the water, his throat feeling dry after all the sobbing he had done. Matt and Maggie were the only people that had ever seen him cry, and Matt usually made fun of him whenever he did. He felt slightly embarrassed, just because it had been so long since he had last seen her, and then all he had done was sob all over her. He sighed, and looked at a clock on the wall. ”s**t! Matt, we have to finish the concert, or else people will be royally ticked off” Josh said, playing with the collar of his electric blue button down shirt. Matt looked at the clock and sighed. ”He’s right. We gotta dip. But hey… Call me, and we can chill sometime. It was great seeing you again Kat, I hope you enjoy the rest of the concert” Matt said, tossing her a small piece of paper with his cell number written on it, before following Josh out the change room door. Josh walked down the hall. Then stopped, causing Matt to bump into him. ”Ow. Keep walking dufus, no time for stopping” Matt said. Josh shook his head and turned back to the change room. ”Not leaving her without saying goodbye again” Josh said, jogging back to the change room. Once he was in, he ran to Maggie, and wrapped his arms around her, then let go, and stood there, staring at her. ”I hope I’ll see you soon” He said, before jogging back to the spot where Matt stood, waiting for him.

-X- The two made their way back to the stage, listening to the beat of the drum while Ian and Mike tried to keep the audience busy while Josh and Matt were off dealing with Maggie. The two boys walked back onto stage, and smiled as the audience broke into relieved cheers and whoops. Josh walked back to where he had dropped his microphone, taking the time to look at the girl, who Josh assumed was his replacement. She was pretty, but not the way Maggie was. Maggie was pretty in a different way. He had never seen anyone who looked even remotely close to her, whereas he had seen plenty of girls who looked the same as the one who was staring back at him. He picked up his microphone from the stage floor, watching as Maggie weaved her way back through the crowd, to her seat. Then he walked back to the microphone stand, and placed the mic in its holder. He took a deep breath, and cleared his throat, then pressed his lips against the microphone and smiled slightly, at Maggie, hoping things were okay between them. ”Hey guys, sorry for the wait. Just had a little something I needed to… Fix” He said, then he picked up his guitar, and began playing with Matt, Mike and Ian, waiting for his musical cue to begin singing Perfect, which was one of this favourite songs to sing.

'Ha, he's mine though...well not really but there might be a chance.' Maggie smiled and looked back up at Josh to meet his eyes, the same exact feelings from before shot through her so fast she felt as if it was physically slamming around her body. Her feelings were out of control from not being around Josh for so long just looking at him sent her mind and heart into a crazed frenzy. When Josh reached out to wipe away one of her tears her breathe caught in her throat and a smile form on her lips as she looked down to her lap. Wiping the rest of her tears away with the back of her hand she gently shook her head and listened as she could hear Josh talking after she had spilled out everything. ”I tried to say goodbye. I tried… Lots of times. I wanted to tell you before me and Matt even went out to the studios, but Matt told me that we would be back… And that I would be able to explain everything to you later. He said that you would understand.” Maggie's eyes lit up softly at the realization that he had tried, that's what Maggie really needed to hear, she just wanted to know that Josh cared enough about her to say goodbye and apparently he had tried at least. ”When we got back, I went to your house first, without even pausing to say hello to Lucy. I was so excited that we got signed, and I wanted to tell you before anyone else. But when I knocked on your door, your mom just told me that I was nothing to your family after what I did to you… “ Now that wasn't something Maggie wanted to hear though now she was extremely angry towards her mother. "I was probably gone when you stopped by, me and Nathan left as soon as my parents kicked me out. My mother's evil and you of all people should know not to listen to her." Kat sighed gently before running a hand through her hair and pulling out the bun so her hair fell back down and flowed nicely against her face and shoulders. Her headache from before was getting worst but she wasn't about to let that get in the way of her talking to Josh, she would not leave him without talking everything out. ”I wish you had been beside me this whole time… My fame… My success… it was nothing… it meant nothing… Knowing that I didn’t have you in the audience every night, smiling at me like you always would when I did something to make you proud” Maggie gave a gentle laugh and shook her head lightly as she pulled Josh's head up so she could look at him. "If you let me back in I could be in the crowd almost every night, smiling up at you though I'd personally rather be back here with you and not out there with the crazies." The smile that had been on her face was growing larger and she felt the same as before, she could feel her old self rebuilding inside her just because of Josh. It was simply amazing how much power the boy you love could have. When she had stood up to hug him she was partly scared that he wouldn't hug her back since she could feel him stiffen but her mind relaxed when she felt his touch around her and a silent gasp rolled out of her as he pulled her onto his lap. 'Maybe I should tell him...no he wouldn't return the feelings, he probably loves someone else anyway.' Maggie continued on with her inner fight as she held tightly to Josh, afraid that if she let go then he would disappear forever and this was all a dream. But she knew it wasn't, she knew by the way she was feeling that this was real and she was still madly in love with the boy. As Josh cried she ran her fingers through his hair, loving the feeling of it and it reminded her of before since she was always obsessed with Josh's hair, playing with it nonstop to the point where it annoyed Josh but now it just seemed like a soothing gesture to a friend in need.

After a while she just placed in back into his hand so he could finish before she went and sat back down, pulling her legs up to her body as she formed into a ball though she started to tip over and ended up laying on the couch which she had just realized was actually very comfortable. She nearly fell asleep though when Josh came back over her mind became alert again and she sat up right, returning her best friend's smile. When he said he was sorry Maggie simply shook her head before leaning over and whispering into his ear. "You shall not be forgiven till you give me a cookie." A giggled spilled from Maggie, her obsession with cookies coming back into play. The bigger the better was her motto when it came to cookies and she rarely went a single day without one though recently she had been trying to give them up so she's been without one for almost five days. The blonde's head shot up when she heard the door open but her body seemed to relax when she realized that it was only Matt. Maggie almost muttered for them to just skip the concert but she kept her mouth shut and stood up so the boys could move before she turned around quickly to the sound of Matt's voice. The blonde simply nodded her head before placing the number in her pocket, wondering why she couldn't get Josh's instead but she wasn't gonna complain, she just preferred Josh's number since she loved him. Sighing gently she realized she didn't say goodbye but at least she had Matt's number so she could talk to either one of them again someday. Reaching down she grabbed her bag before suddenly being held tightly from Josh's hug. Smiling Maggie returned the hug and nodded her head to him before watching his figure leave once again. -X- The rest of the concert went great, causing Josh to leave the stage in a great mood. All four boys walked through the dark halls, smiling and laughing, and had barely made it through the door of the dressing room before the other boys started asking questions. “What happened? C’mon, spill Josh” Ian asked as he pulled a bottle of water from the mini fridge. ”Nothing.” Josh said, unbuttoning his blue dress shirt, then pulling on his tour t-shirt that he had been wearing earlier. ”It wasn’t nothing. You saw Maggie, didn’t you?” Mike asked. Josh looked at Mike wide eyes and confused. ”How did you know she was there?” Josh asked. Mike shrugged and continued fixing his hair in the mirror. ”Matt told Ian while you were hooking up the amps, and then Ian told me.”” Mike said, looking away from the mirror to put the lid on his little container of molding wax. Josh then turned around and looked at Matt, who was trying to look busy, hanging up the clothes. ”You knew she was there the whole time…” Josh said, his voicing sounding hallow, and empty. ”You knew she was there, and you didn’t tell me…” He continued, his voice beginning to sound angry. Matt turned around and shrugged, his facial expression was indifferent. ”You said you didn’t want to see her” He said coolly, turning back to the clothes. ”Of course I wanted to see her! And even if I didn’t, you could at least have warned me, so that I didn’t make an idiot of myself on stage!” Josh shouted, throwing his hands in the air as he spoke. Matt zipped up one of the garment bags, before turning back to face his angry friend. ”Sorry” Matt said, his tone sarcastic. Josh’s expression then became furious, as he stared at Matt, his eyes cold. ”I haven’t seen Maggie since the day we graduated, and you’re SORRY?!” Josh shouted, then closed his eyes and took a deep breath. ”Whatever..I’m going to pack the stuff up and load it onto the bus.” Josh said, moving around the room, searching for something. ”Where the hell is my sweater?!” Josh cried out, to no one in particular, then gave up looking and fled from the room, to angry and frustrated to be near the other three any longer, especially Matt.

-X- Josh was almost done packing up the stuff, ignoring the fans calling his name from behind the fence, that closed off the area where the bus was, and stopped loading on equipment to scope the road, hoping to see Maggie one last time before they went off on the rest of the tour. He smiled as he saw a white blonde girl step into a car, with a boy, whom Josh recognized as Nathan, Maggie’s older brother. He sighed, and continued packing everything up. Then Josh skipped onto the bus quickly, happy that the others hadn’t come back yet. He pulled a can of chicken noodle soup out of the cupboard, and opened it, then left it to heat in a pot on the small bus stove. Josh stiffened as he heard the voices of his band mates as they climbed onto the bus, and quickly made himself look busy, stirring the soup. ”Have you calmed down?” Matt asked, coming up behind Josh. ”Slightly” Josh muttered, moving away from Matt to pull down Lucy’s cat food. ”Is it just me, or is Maggie tearing us apart?” Matt asked, watching as Josh poured the food, and put it down for the small feline. ”It’s just you. Literally.” Josh muttered, turning the heat off the stove, then pouring soup into a bowl. ”Look Josh, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you” Matt said, playing with a fork that sat on the counter. ”I forgive you” Josh said, carrying his bowl to the table, wishing Matt would just leave him alone for a bit. ”Good” Matt said, sitting across from josh at the table. I mean, I kind of always knew she did, but this just proves it.” Matt continued, oblivious to the atmosphere hanging around Josh. ”Oh definitely” Josh mumbled, his voice emotionless. ”Plus she said I was hot. Remember that? She totally said I’m better looking then you” Matt said, hoping Josh wouldn’t remember that it was the other way around. ”Well it’s true” Josh said, still emotionless, wishing Matt would stop talking about Maggie like that. Josh stood up, and made his way to the sink to rinse his bowl, while Matt stayed at the table, and ran his fingers through his hair, and uncomfortable look forming on his face. ”So, I’m going to ask her out next time we see her” Matt said, causing Josh to drop the bowl he held.

Once Josh was in his room, he closed the door and locked it, then turned and sat on his bed, pulling his lyric book out from between the mattress. Then he sat cross legged on his pillow, and opened the book to “Good to You” Which he had begun writing after his sixteenth birthday, for Maggie, but once he left he had never been able to finish it. He tapped his pen against the pages, as he waited for something to come to his mind. He closed his eyes, and leaned against the wall, thinking about everything that had happened in the past few hours. Suddenly a ton of words and lyrics flew into his mind, and he quickly wrote them out in whatever order they popped up in, then he went through the words he had written, and re-arranged that so that the lyrics made sense. He smiled at the completed song, then pulled out a pink highlighter, and highlighted the part that was meant for Maggie to sing. Then he stood up and picked up his acoustic guitar, and began strumming, then began to murmur the lyrics quietly, making sure they flowed with the music he had written for it. He was pretty satisfied with the song, and was just changing around a few words here and there, when there was a small knock on the door, that sent Josh’s heart into his throat. He put down his guitar and slammed his lyric book closed, then shot up and unlocked the door, opening it to see Matt standing in his pajamas, his cell phone in hand. ”Maggie called already. How cool is that?” Matt asked, noticing the dark bags under Josh’s eyes, but not commenting on it. ”That’s uh… That’s great” Josh said, happy that he had finished the song, but still feeling angry and jealous towards Matt. ”I know right? Anyway, she told me to tell you that if you want your sweater back, you’re gonna have to go get it from her. I guess that means she’s the one who stole it and not the evil Calgary dressing room dwarves.” Matt said, chuckling at his own joke. ”Oh. Well, that’s a relief I guess” Josh said, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, suddenly realizing how badly he had to go to the washroom. ”yeah. Well, she only left a message. My phone was under my pillow when she called, so I didn’t hear it. But I’m going to call her tomorrow, and ask if she can drive out and meet us in Whistler. Maybe tour with us and stuff. Only if she says yes though. Otherwise it will be awkward” Matt said, causing Josh to say. Some old Matt. Only caring about his own feelings, and not even worrying about whether or not Josh would want Maggie to go on tour with them.

-X- When Josh finally got Matt go to away, he quickly shoved his lyric book back under the mattress, and then put his guitar on it’s stand securely, so that it wouldn’t fall if the bus stopped or turned suddenly. Then he grabbed a towel and his pajamas and ran off to the bathroom. Once he was in, he went to the bathroom, and then stripped down and got into the shower, taking a fast one instead of the long one’s he’d been taking lately. He stepped out of the steamy glass shower stall and wrapped a towel around himself, as he brushed his hair and teeth. Then he looked over at the clock on top of the bathroom counter, and let out a small gasp. It was 2:30 in the morning. Josh quickly dried himself off, then pulled on his pajamas and walked back to his room, closing the door quietly, so he wouldn’t wake the other boys who were asleep already. Josh crawled into his bed, and closed his eyes, but he soon opened them, unable to sleep. It felt like every nerve in his body was in hyper dive, and he couldn’t seem to stay still, or keep his eyes closed for longer then a minute. Finally, he sat up, sighing and rubbed his eyes. He had been moving around for about half an hour, and groaned. He felt tired, but his body wouldn’t calm down enough to let him fall asleep. Finally fed up, he stood and walked over to his guitar, picking it up carefully in the dark, then walked back to his bed, sitting on the edge. He balanced his guitar on his leg, and began strumming it quietly, then began to sing Good to You, which had been stuck in his head since he finished writing it. ”I’d be sooo good to you” he sang, then stopped as he heard a knock on his door. His heart began beating fast, and he moved the guitar off his lap. ”yeah?” He called out quietly. He squinted at the dark figure that stood in the door way, then smiled as Ian walked in and sat beside him. ”can’t sleep?” Ian asked, noticing the guitar. ”Nah.” Josh muttered, leaning the guitar gently against the bed frame, so that Ian had more room to sit. ”Finish that song?” Ian asked. Josh was about to deny it, but then realized that Ian had heard Josh playing, and that’s why he had come down. ’yeah. But it’s a duet, so it wont help us with the tour or anything’ Josh said. Ian looked thoughtful for a minute, and Josh yawned. ”Hey, maybe we can find a fan somewhere. It could be like a Marianas Trench contest or something” Ian said. Josh sighed and pulled his legs up, so that he was seated cross legged. ”it was written for someone in particular” Josh said quietly. Ian nodded and noticed Josh’s yawning, as it became more frequent. Then he picked up Josh’s guitar and put it back on the stand, and walked to the door. ”Well, good night Josh. See you tomorrow.” Ian said, before closing the door. Josh stared at the streetlights as they passed them, then pulled it covers over his body, and fell asleep, thinking and dreaming of Maggie.

        -X-Next day -X-

-X- Josh awoke to the sound of someone beating on his door. He looked at the clock beside his bed and groaned. It was only eight in the morning, why couldn’t they let him sleep? ’Whaaaadt?” He croaked in the direction of the door, stuffing his face back into the pillow as Matt’s face appeared in the door way. ”People stopped the bus. A television crew. We’re between Whistler and Calgary right now. They want to interview you, and wont go away until they get to. It’s live, so basically, they’re just milling around the bus, showing the world what we tour in as we speak. Please get up and get dressed, so that they can ask you some questions and leave.” Matt explained quickly, and quietly. Josh groaned and sat up. ”Can’t you say I’m sleeping?” Josh asked, rubbing his eyes. Matt shook his head, his expression apologetic. ”Tried. They said they’d wait, and then decided to harass Mike and Ian while they ate cereal.’ Matt said. Josh nodded and got up, throwing on a plain white t-shirt, which fit him quite well, and a pair of slim gray jeans. Then he pulled on a pair of thick socks, and gargled some mouth wash, then left his room, not even worrying about his hair, which was sticking up in every direction as a result of his sleeping. ”Josh Ramsay! Josh Ramsay! My name is Tanya Simmons, and I’m with Channel 7 news, celebrity talk. What happened last night when you ran off stage, shocking fans?” The interviewer called to him as he shuffled his feet, slowly walking towards the kitchen, which was at the front of the bus. He rubbed his eyes and stared at Tanya, then grunted. ”What, no good morning?” He asked, scratching his head, messing up his blue and black hair even more. The interviewer just blinked at him, and Josh sighed. ”I’m sorry, last night’s not the first thing I want to talk about when I first get woken up.” He said, scratching his leg as he rooted through the fridge for orange juice, doing his best to act normal. ”Please just tell us. We pride ourselves on being the best celebrity gossip show, and we would love to have the story straight from you.’ She said, as Josh took a small sip of orange juice, only to gag as the orange and the mint flavours collided in his mouth. Matt began chuckling, and Josh crossed his arms, and sat down at the table. ”And I pride myself on having a private life, that only me and my friends know about. Thanks” Josh said grumpily, wishing he were still cozy in bed. Tanya pouted and pushed the microphone closer to Josh’s face, causing him to slide over, farther away from Tanya. ”Nothing happened. I just… wasn’t feeling well” Josh said, sighing. Tanya raised an eyebrow. ”Don’t try to lie to us Josh. It was something much more then that. Your facial expression was more of a ‘Holy crap, is this really what I’m seeing?’ and less of a ‘I feel like I’m going to blow chunks’ kind of thing. So honestly what happened?” Tanya asked, sliding closer to Josh. Josh then sighed, and thought about what Maggie would want. He sighed again, and decided to tell her the truth, just leaving Maggie’s name, and the flutters he felt out of it. ”Okay fine. I just saw someone who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. I needed a minute to compose myself” Josh mumbled. Tanya’s face showed that she was interested, and wouldn’t be satisfied until she got the whole story. ’And that iiiisssss?” She asked Josh. Josh frowned and shifted in his seat. Maggie wouldn’t want the attention. Josh is what mattered to her, and not any amount of fame she would get from being friends with him. He narrowed his eyes and shifted positions. ’That’s none of your business. None of this is your business. You say you’re a gossip show? Then go make up some stupid gossip. I don’t care, I’m not telling my entire life story to the world. Even if I am a musician, it doesn’t mean everyone has to know every aspect of my personal life.” Josh said, then stood up on the hard, plastic booth seat, and stepped onto the table, before walking across it, and hopping down.

-X- he would have rathered just slid out, instead of making the grand exit, but Mike was on one side of his, and Tanya was on the other, which made it difficult for him to get out easily. He turned and walked back to Matt’s room, where he sat, hiding out away from the cameras. Josh knocked on the door, and stepped in, still feeling eyes on him as he Matt opened the door to let him in. Josh turned his head as he stepped in, and saw the camera aimed at him. That wouldn’t help the gay rumors, but he didn’t care. He sat on Matt’s bed, where Matt was leaning against his pillow, tossing his cell phone from hand to hand. ”What’s up?” Josh asked, noticing the uneasy look on Matt’s face. ”I want to call Maggie, but I’m afraid those stupid camera people are listening through the door. I don’t want more rumors to start, so I don’t want anyone over-hearing the conversation.’ Matt said quietly. Josh looked at the wall, then back at Matt. ”Do you have her number programmed in?” Josh asked. Matt nodded and josh shrugged. ”Then text her?” Josh asked, kicking himself mentally for helping Matt get the girl he was in love with. Matt smiled. ”Good idea” he said, flipping his phone open. He opened a new text message, and quickly typed in Maggie’s information, then a small message.

Then Matt pressed send, and smiled at Josh. ”You think she’ll want to come?” Matt asked hopefully. Josh nodded and stood up. ”yeah. I’m sure she will” Josh said, opening Matt’s door, and walking two steps, before entering his own. Josh sat on his bed, and put his headphones on, listening to whatever song came on when he pressed shuffle, not even feeling a little bit bad about leaving Matt to wait for a reply by himself.

♪♫ “Shadow!” Maggie yelled loudly as the kitten stole one of her few Cheerios left in the bowl that was resting gently on her knee with enough support so it wouldn’t fall. Glaring at the kitten, who just meow loudly, she stood up and walked over to the kitchen where she finished the soggy circles before drinking down the milk and placing the dishes into the sink where she proceeded to clean them and place them into the dishwasher before closing it tightly and calling out to Shadow. “I’ll be back in a few Sha, don’t make a mess!” With that said she grabbed her bag and headed off to her car which she started before zooming on down the road to her first destination which would be...the gas station! Exciting I know! Maggie pulled into the closest place and pulled up to the pump, filling her car up while she sang along with Marianas Trench’s song All To Myself. She nodded her head lightly to the song before stopping the gas and running inside to pay for the gas where she also grabbed a Coke. Once she was finally back in her car she drove out and headed on till she reached a music store that was hidden by other buildings and a few trees. Maggie parked on the side of the curb before hopping out and walking carefully out to the sidewalk and over to the door, raising her fist and knocking quietly on the door. After a few minutes or so the door opened up and a middle aged man looked over Maggie before smiling and moving out of the way so the girl could come inside. “What can I get for you Maggie dear?” The man called out as he walked to the back counter where a guitar was laying. “My birthday is coming up so I though I’d treat myself to a nice little gift, do you have anything new in?” The man looked around for a moment before smiling and looking to Maggie. “Right-handed, five foot four, and very picky about the tightness of the strings, am I correct?” Maggie nodded her head and watched as the man disappeared to a back room hidden away from other people. The blonde walked around, looking at the different instruments before looking across the street from the window and noticing that you could hardly see anything. From behind her a cough sounded and the sound of a guitar being tuned filled the air before a melody was played then it stopped abruptly. Turning Maggie made her way over to the man and noticed he had already placed it inside the case. “Don’t open the case till you get home, it's my present to you.” The man gave a disarming smile before he patted the case and pushed it close to the girl who took hold of it and placed it on the side of her. “Thanks a lot and I’ll make sure to resist temptation and wait. Um, how many customers do you get? It seems like you can’t even see the place from outside anymore.” Maggie wondered if the man would go out of business soon since no one seemed to even come into the shop now-a-days. The man gave a chuckle before standing in the doorway to the back room and looking over his shoulder. “I get who ever is destined to come here, I get the best of them all, I get the ones who know what it takes to become great, but I also get the ones who are lost on their path of life because of someone.” With that the man left, leaving Maggie to think about his words alone as she walked out and over to her car. Sighing gently she placed the case in the back seat and got into the driver seat, buckling in, and hitting the road once more as she made her way to the market. After a while she pulled into the parking lot and grabbed a basket from outside the door so she could put her stuff into it. Walking into a market always bothered Maggie since it smelt like vegetables which she extremely disliked more then anything. It was just something she ended up being born with, not even Josh could get her to eat anything that was close to a vegetable. Smiling to herself she grabbed her favorite fruits, already taking a green apple and biting into it, then she moved over to the meats and after that she finished off everything else, also making sure she remembered to buy food for her new kitten. Finally that was done and she could now do what she needed to do most of all which was get a supply of junk food. Once the groceries were placed neatly in the trunk Maggie entered the car once more and drove a few miles towards her home before stopping at a bakery that was her favorite place in the world almost. The store was a bakery along with a café mixed together and held every donuts, cookie, and chocolate item you could ever think of. When it was her turn in line she ordered a dozen giant cookies, two dozen donuts, and had a basket full of chocolate bars. Once everything was paid for she resisted the urge to just go ahead and eat a cookie and placed them into the back with all the other food before finally she was able to head back to her humble home where a very impatient kitten waited for her. When the blonde pulled into the driveway and stepped out of the car she started laughing till her stomach hurt since her kitten could be heard meowing from outside. Rolling her eyes she grabbed everything in her hands, trying not to drop anything and walked up to the door which she unlocked and shut behind her before running to the kitchen and dropping everything onto the kitchen counter.

♪♫ A yawn escaped her lips as she placed all the food away in various places, trying to figure out some sort of system though that really wasn’t working. Finally after many minutes she pulled together a system and managed to make everything fit so she answered Shadow’s calls and fed the kitten before she grabbed her guitar case and headed up the first flight of stairs and then moved to the back where a bookcase was. Smiling Maggie reached out to the bookcase and pulled it back with most of her strength before she climbed up the white spiral staircase that was revealed and soon she entered her music room. The walls were painted black with white stripes running everywhere along with a red stripe every once in a while, off in one corner was a grand piano, and all around the walls lined many guitars in which Maggie had collected over the many years. Walking over to the piano she placed the guitar case on it and opened it up slowly before another smile pulled onto her lips, this one bigger then the last one, as she looked upon her new guitar. Her fingers traced over it lightly and her ice blue eyes were attracted to the dark red color of it. Pulling it out gently she plugged it up into the amp and played a bit, happy that the room was sound proof, and after a bit she kind of got lost in the music before she realized she had other things she needed to take care of. Sighing sadly she put the guitar back and turned sharply before walking to the staircase and pushing the bookcase back into place. Maggie jumped onto her bed and rolled around lightly, placing her pillow over her head as she closed her eyes and listened to the noises that filled her head till she grew bored and headed back on downstairs and into the kitchen where she retrieved one of her giant chocolate chip cookies. She munched on it lightly while finished off the Coke she had bought from the gas station and pulling out another from the fridge before she finally moved back over to the couch and flipped the television channels around, looking for something at least a bit interesting and that was when she finally found what she wanted to watch. It was some live show and apparently they had stopped Marianas Trench’s tour bus in order to actually get the interview. Maggie quickly rolled her eyes before continuing on watching at they talked to Ian and Mike who looked like two poor little souls just trying to eat their cereal without getting eaten by the monsters, reporters, themselves. Laughing quietly she took another bite of her cookie, letting the flavor fill around her mouth. When Josh came out she suddenly felt really bad, knowing that it was her fault as to why he ran off, maybe if she hadn’t of been there then he wouldn’t be getting harassed by the stupid people who try to pry into the lives of people who’d rather be left alone about it. Sighing to herself she just kept her eyes on Josh, smiling as she noticed that his hair was a complete mess and remembering how she was obsessed with his hair when they were younger. Looking to her right she spotted Josh’s sweater, the smell still finding its way into her nose. Grabbing hold of it she took off her own sweater and placed his on, suddenly feeling much more warmer then she had been a few moments ago. Her attention focused on the show once more as she barely caught what Josh had said and she glared instantly, if he mentions her name she’d have to kill him, well not really but she’d be really pissed. But he didn’t, instead he told them off and walked out, more like climbed over the table and walked out, before disappearing off though a camera managed to catch Josh going into a room where Matt was before the door to the room was shut. “That sure won’t help the rumors about him and Matt.” Maggie commented to Shadow who simply looked at Maggie as if she was insane, well she was talking to a kitten so maybe she was. Yawning once more she just watched the rest of it before she finishing off her giant cookie and gaving a satisfying smile. A loud beep went off which, out of instinct, sent Maggie onto the ground in a heap. Groaning loudly she picked herself off the floor and looked around for the object making the noise but she couldn’t find it. She lifted up the couch cushions, she looked under them, she looked around the coffee table, on the shelves, on the table, in the kitchen, she basically looked everywhere yet she couldn’t find it so she sat back down on the couch before turning her head to the side and seeing her phone flashing right next to her. Rolling her eyes she gave an annoyed sigh then flipped the phone open and smiled when she noticed it was a text from Matt.

Maggie cried as she held her Coke against her forehead, shivering from the coldness and smiling from the relived pain. Nathan raised an eyebrow to his sister before shaking his head and handing Maggie a bag along with a small kennel. Now Maggie was the one who raised an eyebrow before shaking her head lightly. "What's all this for? Am I going somewhere?" Nate smiled and shook his head lightly, tossing his brown hair to the side. "No but I have a feeling you're going to need Shadow and the stuff in the bag." That was all he said before walking back out to his truck and driving down the street in the direction of his school. Maggie was the one who just stood there stumped as she looked through the bag to find her everyday stuff placed in there. After a while of standing there like an idiot she simply shook her head and went to her car, tossing the bag in the backseat and placing Shadow in the front before taking the last bite of her apple and tossing it into the bushes. Then once her car was started she made her way back on the road heading towards Whistler just till Matt told her where they would meet up at.

          >> Joshua -X- Ramsay <<
          ...All of my excess...

_________ ...Don't you ever tell me I'm not loving you best.

-X- Josh sighed as he closed the door of his room. He closed his eyes, and rubbed his temples. What if Maggie said yes? Josh collapsed onto his bed, nauseous at the thought of Matt and Maggie together. He knew he should probably have said something to Matt a long time ago, seeing as they were best friends, but he couldn’t. If anyone was going to know, it would be Maggie. He sat up, and rubbed his eyes. His throat was hurting, and his eyes burned, as if tears were waiting to escape between his eyelids. He stared at the wall, having an imaginary conversation between Maggie and himself. They were both sixteen again, and they were in the tent in Josh’s backyard. They were still eating popsicles, Maggie’s tongue blue, and Josh’s purple. The only thing that was different, was that instead of telling Maggie she was his best friend, he told her everything that was going through his mind as he realized that he was madly in love with the pale, beautiful blonde, blue eyed girl who sat laughing with him. In his mind, sixteen year old Josh stopped smiling, just like he had. ”Hey Josh, you alright?” Maggie asked him, just as she had that night. Josh nodded, and shook his head, and instead of saying “you’re my best friend”, he spoke his mind, and his heart to her. ”Maggie, I have something important to tell you” Josh said quietly, his voice cracking, as he realized just how big what he had to tell her was. His heart was beating so fast, that he was afraid it would just stop, the same way he did if he ever got too tired. ”And what’s that?” the Maggie in his head asked. Josh took a deep breath, and ran his fingers through his dark brown hair, giving her a shy smile, as his cheeks turned bright red. ”Maggie, I’m in love with you. I have been, since I was 14, but I only realized now. You’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met, and you’re the only person I ever want to be with. You understand me like no one else, and I feel like I can tell you anything, without you judging me. You’re the most beautiful girl I have ever met, and have the greatest personality of anyone I’ve ever been around. I’m so in love with you, and I hope you return my feelings” Josh said, his voice getting stronger as he spoke. He stared at Maggie, who was looking at the wall, licking her popsicle, as if she hadn’t heard anything. Lick, lick, lick, lick Josh watched, wishing she would speak, let him know what she was thinking. To tell him she felt the same, and just to let him hold her in his arms. He wanted to take care of her, and love her. He wanted to treat her better then anyone else, and smile when ever he thought about, just knowing that she was his, and no one else’s. ”Maggie?” Josh asked anxiously, hoping he wouldn’t have to repeat his entire speech. Maggie ate the last of her popsicle off the stick, then looked at him. ”I’m sorry Josh. I don’t feel the same. You’re my friend, and that’s all you’ll ever be. Well… Now I don’t think we should even be friends. To know you like me like that, when I only think of you as a friend. It’ll be too weird. Good night Josh” She said robotically, almost as if she weren’t the same girl, then she got up and walked out, leaving Josh sitting there with a box of half melted popsicles.

-X- Josh shook his head, coming out of his own painful daydream. He sniffled, and realized that his cheeks were wet from tears. He sighed and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, wondering how he managed to think up something so terrible. He shook his head and stood up, walking over to his guitar. ”And that’s why I’ll never tell her how I feel… Plus, Matt wants her now… I have to respect that” Josh said quietly to himself, carrying his guitar back to the bed. He sat down, and positioned it properly on his knee, then began strumming, first just a random melody, then he somehow ended up playing the tune to Beside you. He began singing the song quietly, so quiet that you couldn’t hear him over the sound of the guitar, even if you pressed your ear against the door. When he got to the bridge he began to sing a little bit louder, hoping no one could hear him. ”Trust in me, trust in me. Don’t pull away. I’m just trying to keep this together, because I could do worse, and you could do better…” Josh sang, stopping after the word ‘better’ left his mouth. He sighed, and began playing random chords. Maggie could do better. Josh was a musician. He had girls screaming for him all the time. He made mistakes, and he got busy. He would hate to have Maggie know the way he felt, and then even if there was a slight chance of her feeling the same, just the thought of him leaving her again, especially after they had that in the open. He sighed, and rubbed his sore eyes again, wishing he had never met Matt, and that everything had just stayed the way it was. Josh jumped when he heard a small knock on the door, and hoped it wasn’t one of the boys telling him that Matt had just dropped dead. ”Come in” Josh muttered, looking up as Ian walked through the door. ”Hey. I heard you playing. You often play when somethings on your mind, so what’s up? Are you okay?” Ian asked gently. Josh smiled at Ian’s concern. ”Nothing, just… What do you feel, when you look at Allie?” Josh asked. Ian looked at the ceiling, then back at Josh. ”I feel… Happy. Like there isn’t anyone else I would want to be with but her. I feel fluttery, and nervous, even though I’m so used to her, and I can tell by the way she looks at me sometimes, and the way she talks to me, and trusts me, that she feels the same. We know each other so well, that we finish each others sentences, and even though we do fight, we always find a good, healthy way to resolve it. Why do you ask?” Ian asked suddenly. Josh looked at the wall, praying more tears didn’t leave his eyes. The way Ian described his relationship with Allie, his steady girlfriend, was the exact way he felt about Maggie. They had ups and downs, but they always worked it out, and still trusted each other with everything… Almost everything. He sighed, and wished that everything would just work its self out. He wished that people were like magnets, or puzzle pieces, that you could only connect with one person, and when you met that person, that you would stick to them, and automatically know that everything was perfect. Josh looked back at Ian, then put his face in his hands. ”I feel that way about someone” Josh said, then sobs broke out of his chest, his back heaving as the tears rolled down his cheeks.

-X- At first, Ian was a little taken aback, but then put his hand gently on his sobbing friend’s back. ”Josh, you’re 18. I’ve been with Allie for years… I don’t mean to be a downer, but how could you know someone enough to love them the way I love Allie?” I an said. Josh continued to sob into his hands, although the heaving had now slowed. ”I’ve known them for years” Josh said quietly, his voice quivering as he spoke. Ian looked confused, and took his hand off Josh’s back as he straightened up his back, wiping his hand across his face to dry some of the tears. ”Who?” Ian asked, running his fingers through his hair. Josh looked at the floor, and Ian’s eyes went wide. ”Is it Matt? Are those rumors true?!” Ian asked, quietly but urgently. Josh’s eyes widened as well, and he shook his head vigorously. ”No, no. I’m straight. No questions about it.” Josh said. Ian’s eyes went back to normal size and he nodded. ”Explain how you feel around her. I can tell you if it’s puppy love, obsession, or real, true love” Ian said, playing with the zipper on his sweater. Josh took a deep breath, and slid farther onto the bed, so that he could lean against the wall. He pushed a bit of hair from his forehead, causing it to stand up and blew out a big breath of air. ”I feel fluttery, like you said. I feel like she’s the only one in the room. She’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, and just something about her makes me feel so… insignificant. As if she’s so… much, that she takes away from everyone else around her. I’m always afraid to speak my mind around her, although I know she would never judge me, and when I do, I always feel better. I trust her with my life, but the one thing I can’t tell her, is how I feel about her” Josh said, speaking quickly, not taking a breath between sentences, in fear that once he stopped, he wouldn’t start again. Ian nodded. ”Someone told me something once. They said ‘To love a person, you must love everything about them, including their flaws’ Which I guess means, you can’t love someone, unless you love, and accept everything else about them, and everything they come with. Like… To you, they have no flaws. Same way, Allie seems perfect to me, even though there’s something’s I dislike about her, I put them behind everything else, because the love I feel for her is so great, that nothing else matters.” Ian said, a dreamy look forming on his face as he spoke about Allie. Josh nodded, more tears building in his eyes. ”To me, she’s flawless. But in an imperfect way. I hate people that are perfect… I guess it’s just… The way she is that makes me think of her as flawless. She can be really high strung, and kind of mean, but never to me. And if she is, it’s in a joking way. She treats me like I’m a normal person, even if no one else does, and she never keeps thing from me to save my feelings, because she knows that what I know will only make me stronger” Ian smiled and patted Josh’s shoulder. ”Sounds like you really do love her. Although, those seem like the qualities you’d have in a best friend” Ian said. Ian and Allie had hated each other when they first met, and hardly ever spoke. Ian slowly began to like her, and asked her out. It had turned out she felt the same, and then they became friends, after they started dating. Josh sighed and closed his eyes, unsure if he should tell Ian the truth. ”It is…” Josh whispered. Ian looked at him, confused. He cocked his head to the side, and continued looking at Josh, confusion still written all over his face. ”I’m in love with Maggie”

-X- Ian’s eyes widened as Josh said the last words. Josh closed his eyes, and imagined his best friends face, his stomach filling with butterflies just at the thought of her. ”You know… Matt is planning on asking her out.” Ian said quietly. Josh nodded, his eyes still closed. ”Does he know?” Ian asked, quietly again. Josh shook his head. ”No. He doesn’t” Josh said, his words sounding thick, and hollow at the same time. ”Shouldn’t he?” Ian asked. Josh shook his head, and opened his eyes. ”If he knew, he wouldn’t go after her. I want to put Matt first. He isn’t afraid of what people think of him, and he doesn’t care if she says no. It’ll just be awkward to him. What if I told him how I felt, and he didn’t go after her… Then if I told her, and she didn’t feel the same? I would be devastated… Broken… It would kill me to hear the words ‘I don’t feel the same way’. Especially the way I feel about her. I would just…. Destroy me” Josh whispered. Ian nodded. ”You’re a good friend Josh. It’d be stupid of someone not to love you. You’re an amazing human, and you’re so talented.” Ian said. Josh chuckled and intertwined his fingers together, thinking about what it would feel like to hold hands with Maggie again. ”I’m serious. The sound of your singing voice would make any girl swoon. No joke” Ian said. Josh laughed again, then punched Ian’s arm lightly. He smiled at the wall across from him for a few moments, then his smile disappeared, and he sighed. ”I wish I knew what it would be like to kiss her…” Josh said wistfully. Ian nodded, and looked apologetically at Josh. Ian was just about to open his mouth and speak, but then Matt walked in with a bowl of chips, and sat down on the bed, on the other side of Josh. ”Who do you want to kiss?” Matt asked, his mouth full of chips as he sat down. Ian raised an eyebrow at Josh, but didn’t say anything. ”My uh… Mom. I haven’t talked to her in a real long time. I wonder how she’s doing, maybe I should call her” Josh said quickly. Ian shook his head, and gave Josh the ‘he deserves to know’ look, but still didn’t say anything. ”That’s weird… Hey, the bus driver has to take a piss, so we’re gonna stop in the next small down so he can go. Wanna grab some McD’s while he’s taking his bathroom break? I’m having a craving for a big mac and friends” Matt said, putting the empty chip bowl down on Josh’s nightstand. Ian sighed and stood up. ”Sounds good. I’ll go check the maps and see how much longer it will be before we reach the next small town. You guys can talk[/t]” Ian said, looking pointedly at Josh.

-X- ”Man, what was up with him? See the way he said ‘talk’? Gosh, he made it seem like you wanted to propose to me or something” Matt said, taking a sip of the cola he held. Josh stood up. ”I’ll be right back” Josh said, stepping out of the room. Luckily, Ian was alone in the kitchen, sipping a glass of water while he consulted the maps. ”You wont say anything to Mike, right?” He asked quietly, opening the fridge to pull out a can of Coke Zero. Ian shook his head, and turned his attention to another map that was spread across the table. ”Or Matt. But I think it would be wise for you to tell him” Ian said, not looking up. Josh tapped the top of the can, an uneasy look forming on his face. Ian finally looked up and sighed. ”I’m not saying you have to. Just that… I think he should know” Ian said. Josh sighed. ”It doesn’t matter. No one but you will ever know. I don’t plan on telling anyone. Let them be happy. At least then I know that I didn’t possibly ruin two of my best friends lives” Josh said, turning and walking back to his room. He walked back to the bed, and sat down beside Matt. He cracked open the can, and took a long sip, gasping as the burn of the bubbles gliding down his throat added to the pain of his already sore throat, and the coldness from the cola sent shivers through his body. ”I think I’m going to buy Maggie roses in Whistler. What do you think? Just to soften her up… Maybe raise the chances of her saying yes when I ask her out” Matt said. Josh looked at his feet, wishing Matt would stop talking about Maggie all the time. ”I think that would be great. Roses are nice. Although, she’s more of a cookie person… Don’t know if you remember” Josh muttered. Matt slapped his head. ”Oh s**t! How could I forget that? You used to always get her giant cookies with ‘Happy birthday Maggie-bear’ written on it for her birthdays. No wonder you guys were such good friends. What else do you remember about her? Just so that I don’t look totally clueless” Matt said. Josh was actually shocked that Matt didn’t remember. Maggie’s obsession over cookies, was widely known. Even by those who didn’t know who she was physically, they just knew she loved cookies. Josh couldn’t believe he was going to sit there and let someone who knew nothing about her, steal her heart away from him. Not that it was really his… He just didn’t want Maggie getting hurt. Especially by Matt. He would’ve hated to choose between friends. Mostly because he knew Maggie would always come first, and that if anything did happen, it could easily be the end of the band.

-X- Josh went through all the things he remembered about Maggie, which was pretty much everything. He remembered how she wore the same purple and white polka dot headband every day for a year in kindergarten. He remembered how she would always get jealous when he could blow bubbles with his gum, and she couldn’t. He also remember how happy she had been when she figured out how to do it. Matt laughed at all the silly things Josh told him, which made Josh a little annoyed. Him and Maggie had been through everything together, and he felt a little like Matt was intruding, on all of their old memories… And to laugh at them? They were what made Josh and Maggie, Josh and Maggie. A lot of people called them the Dream Team, because they always were so good with each other. If someone saw one without the other, they usually thought something was seriously wrong. A small knock on the door caused Josh to smile, as he hopped up to open it, hoping it would be someone giving him a reason to stop being alone with Matt. He opened it, and Mike was in the doorway. ”Show about us. Thought you two would like to see it” Mike said, then he walked away. Josh gestured for Matt to go with him, and then the two boys stood up and walked over to the couch, where an gossip show was bad mouthing Josh. The tow boys sat down, and Josh hugged his knee’s to his chest as he watched. ”So seriously… What is up with that Josh kid? I’m sorry, but he runs from those ladies as if they had some rare disease that’s incurable. Trust me, my boy… They don’t bite. Maybe they’ll mob, but they truly don’t hurt. And if you are gay, which I doubt, despite the rumors I’ve heard, then freaking tell people. It’s just going to make your life harder, my friend. You are an attractive male, with a great voice. Of course girls are going to be all over you. But if you bat for the other team, then I think they should know. Why let them waste their time? The point of my story? Get a girlfriend… Next up, we have…” The others began laughing as the host continued on about some other guy, but Josh blanked out. ”God, why can’t they ever leave people alone?!” Josh said suddenly, standing up. He marched back to his room. He laid out on his bed, and pulled out his lyric book, and began writing about things that frustrate him, only in song lyrics instead of in real sentences. He knew it would never become a real song, but writing lyrics was his way of relaxing… Of getting out his frustration. Just like it was his way of telling about his feelings for Maggie. He couldn’t tell anyone, so he wrote a song about it instead.

-X- Someone was shaking him, but he didn’t know why. Josh looked up groggily at Matt, who stood over him. ”We’ve stopped. Mike and Ian already walked around, to see if anyone recognized them. It’s pretty dead around here, so it’s safe to get out of the bus. They’re already ordering, so we have to meet them there. I didn’t want to wake you up, but I wasn’t sure what you wanted” Matt said. Josh nodded and sat up, frowning as he realized his lyric book was stuck to his face. He peeled it off carefully, and shot a glare at Matt, as he began chuckling. ”You have writing on your face” Matt said, laughter still coming out of his mouth as he spoke. Josh frowned and pulled on his shoes, then walked past Matt. ”Can we just get some freaking food please?” Josh muttered as he walked out of the bedroom door. Matt nodded and jogged to catch up. ”Why does it matter, just leave me alone. I don’t want to deal with, this stupid s**t anymore. It’s my life not yours, so stop analyzing me. I feel what I want, and you can say what you need.” Matt said off Josh’s cheek. ”Shut up. I was mad.” Josh said, putting his hand over the writing. Matt shrugged as they got into line, and read the menu, although he knew what he wanted. ”I want a cheeseburger” Josh mumbled. Matt looked back at him and sighed. ”You know what I don’t understand Josh?” Matt said. Josh looked at him, and then back at the menu. ”What?” Josh asked, running his fingers through his messy hair. ”How you can write so many amazing lyrics, out of just frustration, and emotions and yet you can’t put any of them into full songs. At least not for a long time. Don’t you think that… Their should be more songs about the media’s affect on you? It’s not fair what they say….” Matt said, pulling out his wallet. Josh shrugged and stepped forward, to order. ”Can I have a double cheeseburger combo, with coke please? Anyway, it’s just because I use my lyrics to get out my frustration. Not that I actually want to whine about it to the entire world. I’m famous, what can I do? They’ll do anything to make a few bucks off a fake story. Plus, I hate those songs… If something is bothering you, fix it. Don’t just whine about it until someone else does. That’s not how life works, at least not for the stronger people” Josh said, taking the bag from the cashier, then turning away to walk back to the bus.

-X- Josh sat in his room, munching on fries, while he tried to wipe the pen off his face with a cotton ball drenched in alcohol rub. Eventually, he got it down to a few faded blue lines, but sighed, as he threw out the cotton ball. Then he sat down on his bed and ate the rest of his food, while working on a few other songs he had started. After a while he gave up, and chucked his pen across the room. Maggie was on his mind, and all he could do was doodle her name in random letter styles across the pages. He was happy no one ever looked in his lyric book, because those few pages may bring up a few questions. He leaned back against his pillow, and closed his eyes, and began thinking of when he had seen Maggie, just a day ago. The way she looked, the way she smelt. The way her voice sounded. Her smile was etched into his mind, which was a good, and bad thing for him. He smiled to himself, as he remembered the feeling he got when Maggie had hugged him, but was soon dragged away from his thoughts by a quick repetitive knock on the door. ”Yee-uh?” Josh called, smiling at Matt as he walked in. ”I see you got most of the pen off. Nice. So guess what?” Matt said, sitting on the end of Josh’s bed. ”What?” Josh asked, slowly eating a fry, which was cold by that time. ”Maggie replied. She’s gonna meet us in Whistler. We’re almost there, so I’m going to tell her to meet us in our dressing room, and then give her name to one of the security guards. Then, after the show, I’ll ask her out, and if she says yes, I’ll invite her on tour with us. Wouldn’t that be soooo cool?” Matt asked. Josh stared at him, then nodded. Again with the Maggie… But then Josh smiled, as something crossed his mind. ”Hey, maybe she can sing that duet with me…” Josh said, happily. ”Duet? And nothing lovey dovey. Don’t be stealin’ my girl” Matt said. Josh stopped smiling, but still tried to hide his frown. His girl? Josh thought. ”Uh, yeah. I wrote this duet… But hey… it isn’t very good… So I wouldn’t want to waste her talents with it” Josh muttered, closing his lyric book as he noticed it was sitting, open to one of the Maggie pages. Matt looked confused, and looked at Josh as he stuck the book under his pillow. ”Okay well… Anyway… She can sing? I didn’t even know… Didn’t she always want to be a vet, or something?” Matt asked. Josh sighed, and instantly regretted bringing up the duet. Ian was the only one who knew how he felt about Maggie, and knew why Josh wanted to sing the duet with her, instead of someone else. Josh sighed and rubbed his eyes. ”yeah… That was definitely Maggie” Josh said, although Matt didn’t seem to get his sarcasm. ”Hah, see? I know her better then you. Just proves me and her are meant for each other, huh?” Matt said, pulling out his phone to reply to Maggie’s text.

          To: Maggie
          From: Matt

Sweet, glad you can come hang out. Come to the Whistler Stadium, and walk to the man guarding the backstage door. We get there early, so if you get there early as well, we can chill before the show. Otherwise, we can all get a late dinner, or something. Just tell the man your full name, and he’ll let you in. See you later ‘gator. ;]

Matt chuckled as he pressed send, and then stood up. ”Well… I’m going to go take a shower. I’ll talk to you in a bit. I wanna look super good for when I see Maggie. I’m also gonna borrow some of your cologne. I hope you don’t mind” Matt said, as he walked out the door. Josh put his head in his hands, and more quiet sobs eventually made their way through his body. This whole Maggie thing was making him a complete mess, and there was nothing he could do about it.
