                                  "Um...that way,"

Noodle stared at him for a moment, unsure whether or not he was joking. Basing it on prior things he had said and done, she had sadly concluded that he was serious. 2D really wasn't all that bright, now that she thought about it. At first, she thought his air-headed attitude was just him being disoriented after nearly being eaten by a horde of zombies. She almost felt dense for not figuring this out soon enough. It seemed like the bumper to the face messed up more than his eyes. It seemed like for the most part, she would be thinking for the both of them.

Noodle finished up her breakfast and licked off the back of her spoon. "I was thinking that we should at least try to leave the city. There should be fewer zombies." Hopefully they would end up in a place that was a little more urban-y and a lot less "return to nature", though she was prepared for that situation as well. "We will most likely have to travel by foot, unless we found a quiet car with gas."

2D stared back at her. "Er... did I get something on my face?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. Now that would be embarrassing. Even in times of zombie apocalypse. He wiped his face with his hand, but it looked like there wasn't anything there. So what could she have been staring at? He blinked, then shook his head. Oh well. No big deal.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," he said. "The car thing's probably not gonna work. We'll probably have to find a bunch of places to hide along the way." Less people would mean less zombies, or should, so it was probably their best bet. He nodded. "Yeah, let's do that." Maybe they could find a cool place to hide farther away from zombie central. "Maybe we could find one of those underground things, then the zombies wouldn't get in there and we could put lots of stuff in it." That would be a cool way to wait out the zombie business.

For a second, Noodle had considered thinking of an excuse as to why she was staring at him like she was. She wouldn't just tell him straight out that she was questioning his intellect. Luckily for her, he seemed to have dismissed the moment rather quickly, leaving her feel almost relieved. She couldn't den it was actually somewhat charming in a strange way.

"If we reach the highway that would be a better time to use a car if it is not too crowded." The thought of walking for miles exposed to the heat already sounded exhausting. But that was an issue best dealt with when they got to it. She listened to 2D's opinion as well. He most likely meant some kind of underground bunker, though the possibility of coming across something like that wasn't particularly large.

"If we come across one, we can definitely check it out." she said with a nod. She hadn't considered a possible destination for them once they had left the city. Her thoughts lingered more on gated homes, or maybe even barns. Opportunities like that were not going to arise very often, so she felt she needed something more solid to go on.

"Do you think you would be ready if we moved out today? or would you prefer to stay one more night?"

2D nodded. "Yeah, we could check if we get there," he said. "I don't really know how to hot-wire a car, though, so unless you do, if we find one I guess we'll have to hope it has keys." And wasn't full of a road trip's worth of zombies, but that went beyond saying. It would be a hell of a lot more convenient to have a car, though. They wouldn't have to walk and could probably run over zombies if they needed to.

"Well, there's gotta be some place out there we can stay safe," he said. They were the survivors. They were pretty much obligated to not die, for the sake of the world. Or something like that. "Maybe there's a place out there where zombies can't get in for whatever reason. Let's try to go there." He laughed. The mythical zombie-less place he'd just made up was totally a good place to go.

He shrugged. "I can go whenever," he said. "Not like I have to do much to get ready or anything." All they'd really have to do was round up the stuff they collected and make sure they had everything. He was pretty ready other than that. "I mean, if you need to stay, that's okay with me, but I can leave too."

"...do you think zombies can swim?" Noodle pondered out loud, vaguely considering other options. They were dead bodies so there was a possibility they could just float. That didn't mean that they could swim, though. She was already aware that they were unable to climb, or just hadn't figured it out yet, which was why they were safe on high ground. So far even ground seemed to be her enemy when it came from escaping and hiding, and there was plenty of that. She also had to consider that her newly acquired zombie-fighting partner wasn't quite as well trained as her, so including his limits, there was even more of a cap on potential places to escape

"I guess we will be moving out this afternoon, then," Noodle decided with a small nod, "But first, we will have to upgrade your weapon.

"Hm... they might be able to. I, er, haven't seen any do it, but they might." It wasn't exactly something he wanted to test, at any rate. "Well, they don't have to worry about drowning, anyway. They're already dead." He hoped if they had any reason to go near water they wouldn't have to deal with zombies, but he had a feeling it wouldn't really be that easy.

"Upgrade?" he asked. "What, you mean put spikes on it?" That sounded kind of like overkill, and he had no idea where to find spikes. Maybe she did. "Where would you find spikes to put on a bat? The hardware store?" Maybe not. Maybe bat-spikes were illegal. Although legalities were pointless in a zombie apocalypse. Problems, problems.

"I was considering a boat if we ever manage to get that far." Maybe. It wasn't a solid idea just yet, especially since they were both quite far inland, although they did have all the time in the world. That idea would definitely have to be put on hold

"They do not have to be spikes, exactly..." Noodle said, looking around, "I believe if we find some nails, they will do just fine." It shouldn't be too hard to find some decent-sized nails to drive into the blunt object. She was sure they could find some spare ones somewhere, and if push came to shove, they could possibly dislodge some from a few pieces of furniture. She was intent on finding some nails, though. 2D didn't seem capable of doing much damage with the simple blunt weapon. She was definitely going to get him something more destructive when she got the chance.

"A boat?" He imagined them sailing the seas, avoiding zombies on a pirate ship. That might be fun. Or terrifying. Scary things lurked in the water, although scary things were also quickly infesting the land. Problems, problems. "Er, well, I guess if we end up getting to water and finding a boat we could try it," he said, looking up. "But it'd be hard to do that while we're still on land." Oh, he was pointing out the obvious again. He had to remember to stop doing that.

"Oh." That made sense. They probably didn't even make bat spikes. Nails would work, though. They were indeed quite spiky. "I guess that would probably do some damage, huh," he said. He'd just have to get better at actually hitting things with the bats, but he had a feeling he'd get good at it real quick if he didn't want to die. And he definitely didn't want to die.

"Yeah, we're gonna be fine," he said, mostly to himself.

Noodle didn't entirely agree with him, but she kept it to herself. This was the zombie apocalypse after all. They were lucky enough to be living at this very moment. She moved to get up, taking her bowl into the kitchen. Staring at the bean sauce smeared piece of ceramic, she wondered if it was something they would need on their travels. She didn't want to stock up too much, after all. They only had one bag, and it seemed like she was going to carry this one. She already knew they would have to carry food as well as the few extra shirts that could be used for clothes or even bandages if things got bad. She had to include the pots as well. How else were they going to cook their food? They would make for good melee weapons as well. A good swing of a steel pot could smash in the deteriorating skull of an undead citizen.

"If we are planning to leave today, we should get started on getting ourselves together." she mentioned. Out of habit, she placed the bowl in the sink, and for a brief moment she thought to take it out. Either way it was entirely pointless. She made a mental list of what they carried and what they should have; medication, food, flashlight, spare clothes (kind of), pots... They were going to need clean water for hydration, and just in case their next rest stop didn't have any. She would need to find something to contain it as well; a bottle of some sort. Nothing too big, but just large enough to last them.

She began filling the large pot back with water to put on the stove. She wasn't sure how much she would need, but it was better to be safe than sorry. She clicked the gas back on and moved on to something else to do. They still needed to find some nails somewhere around the house. She wasn't entirely sure where to start, chose to take a peek at the drawers in the kitchen.

"Right." He checked the corner where he'd left his keyboard and bat. Everything was right where he left it, and that was pretty much all he'd brought with him other than the contents of his pockets. He looked around, found where he'd left his shoes, and carried them over to his pile of stuff. All of his current personal belongings were pretty easy to keep track of. He'd deal with the stuff at home when the zombie thing ended.

If it even would end. Everything seemed like it would be easy and turn out fine now, but he had no idea what might happen in the future. It was actually kind of scary. Even scarier than the zombies themselves. Even scarier than whales. He'd thought his future would consist of going from band to band until he found one that was awesome, then making it big or something. Now he just wanted everyone to survive.

The chances of that, though, were probably slim. What a shame.

The purple haired girl opted to give the kitchen cupboards another look. She was aware that 2D had already checked out the place and he hadn't much to report other than beans. He probably didn't know what he was specifically looking for besides food, so there was no harm in double checking. The cabinets revealed to her a few pots and pans, yet none of them looked quite as easy to carry around as the ones 2D had already selected. He seemed to do a decent job in salvaging in the cabinets as far as she could see. Next she checked the various drawers where she found basic kitchen utensils. She was pleased to find some promising steak knives that they could use for whatever reason. She had learned that sharp knives had more uses than simply cutting food and other people, which made them quite handy as tools for survival. She managed to find a small plastic bag containing a few loose nails and screws. She put those on the counter with the knives she had discovered.

Now all she had to do was figure out how to arrange everything in their new supply bag without bursting, breaking, popping, or tearing anything, which wouldn't be too hard, considering that there was a very small amount of items that could easily be damaged. She hummed a bit as she walked back into the living room with her new findings and began to rearrange the contents of the bag. She set the bag of nails and screws in front of 2D while she took the care to store their items.

2D looked over at the window. Their rest was almost over, and soon they were going to end up out there with all the zombies again. This time, though, he swore he was going to be prepared. No more running away. He was well-rested, he was done being tired, he was going to fight. He was going to be useful. He still hoped they wouldn't run into too many of them, though. That would be bad. No amount of preparing would prepare him for that.

He picked up the bag of loose pointy objects Noodle set in front of him and then looked over at her. He inspected the bag, then went over to pick up the bat. Time to weaponize his weapon. Or something. That sounded kind of badass, and he laughed. He sat down to work on his new project. He took out one of the nails and held it up to the bat. "I think I need a hammer," he said.

She glanced at him for a moment. "...then go find a hammer," she said, mildly irritated, "I'm not your mum." She didn't want to come off as rude, but it seemed like the obvious thing to do. She had saved his life, but she didn't expect him to rely on her so much. It was bad for both of them. If something ever happened to her, he wouldn't last long. She wasn't quite sure why she cared so much about him, anyway. She literally just met him the day before. Maybe it was just in human nature to care about another person’s well being during a zombie apocalypse. That sounded about right.

Noodle seemed to have everything together now. The essentials were packed away and ready, her katana was clean and comfortable in its sheath, and her guitar was place next to everything else. She paused for a minute to figure out anything she had left out, when it came to her. The water was still in the kitchen. It was boiling now, so she shut it off and pulled out a canteen she had found. Of course she would have to let the liquid cool before storing it. They weren't in a rush, though it was still a good idea to get out as soon as possible if they wanted to find another hideout before sundown.

He slowly turned to look at her. "Wait... you mean you're not?" He stared at her with a bewildered expression on his face for a few seconds. Then he laughed. "Got you there. I know you're not." He grinned, stood up. and walked out of the room, searching for a hammer. There had to be one somewhere. He checked every drawer he came across until he finally found one, in the kitchen of all places. Good, that was another problem taken care of.

He went back to the living room, sat down on the floor, and inspected the bat. Then he took one of the nails out of the bag and started hammering it into the bat, careful not to hit his fingers. The nails didn't seem long enough to be able to make the pointy parts stick out, but he figured the part you hammered would probably do enough damage as is.

For a moment she thought he was serious. The train of thought didn't seem beyond him, so when he faked her out she nearly wanted to punch him. Instead she found herself laughing along with him. It was good to have a tension breaker in a crappy situation like theirs, and it was a shame not to appreciate it.

After it had seemed like the water had cooled enough, she poured the liquid into the canteen and stored it away with the rest of their newly acquired junk. That was the end of it. The bag was a bit heavy, but they were well packed and ready. The bag was a bit heavier than she would have wanted, but she convinced herself she could manage. It would be a good way to exercise in the end. She could even let 2D take on the responsibility for a little bit. She just hoped he would be able to carry it. He looked like he needed a bit of a workout.
