~The infinity gem splits in two, thanks to no good, meddling SHIELD, and the halves take up residency in Lia and August. ~The decay has gotten so far along when they are able to pull the pieces out of Lia and August, that their souls are left damage. /cue superhero music/ And the guys save the day.

Drax did not understand the point in visiting this planet.

It was merely a waste of time, in his eyes, as there were other issues that needed to be taken care of - such as Thanos. He had heard of Thanos before he had been arrested and imprisoned in the Kiln. People spoke of him as if he was a god, and he had many followers, one of which was Ronan the Accuser. Now that he was no longer alive, Drax only saw it fit that they go after the titan and to finish him off. While Ronan had only been a pawn, he wanted to go after the king, to fully avenge his family once and for all. He would not settle for killing Ronan; no, he would ensure that Thanos was dead and gone before he uttered his last breath.

He sat in the kitchen of the Milano, sharpening the knife he had acquired in the Kiln with one he had found in a drawer. On numerous occasions, Peter had tried to stop him, in which he would always ask him what he used them. Ever since he had joined the crew on the ship, not once had he seen the man prepare a meal, much less use the knives, in the kitchen. Each time, Peter could only gesture wildly at him, and walk away, allowing Drax to resume his sharpening. Now, when he passed by the kitchen, he only gave him a wary look and made a comment about how they were going to be landing soon.

"I will be prepared to face all of foes on earth to reclaim this 'infinity gem' so we may continue our pursuit of Thanos," Drax said resolutely. He kept his eyes on his knife as he spoke the words, so he could not gauge the "Star Lord's" reaction, but the Destroyer was sure that it was something akin to exasperation. He did not give him a verbal reply, and instead, walked away, towards the front of the ship. He had not forgotten what Peter had told him about his home planet of mighty warriors, Terra, and it was the only reason he had not completely objected to going there. The thought of a challenge in battle pleased him, especially after the down time they had after they defeated Ronan. The five of them - well, more like four with Groot having been reduced to a fraction of his former size and in a flower pot - had done odd missions since then, but nothing quite like their adventure with the Orb.

The ship slowly began to shake, signaling their descent into the Earth's atmosphere. Drax remained unbothered by the sudden event, but did pause mid-sharpening when the overhead speakers began to emit a song. He looked up at the speaker, and shook his head, before he resumed his previous actions.

All she heard was the sound of keys being pressed down at a steady pace. Taptaptaptaptaptap, with the occasional furious tapping of the backspace button being hit repeatedly. As the morning progressed, the abuse of the backspace key only grew more and more frequently, until her tired, bored hazel eyes fell onto the bottom corner of her screen. A frustrated groan came from her, followed by the thud of her head hitting the desk she worked at.

9:06. Only two and a half hours after she came in to begin the obscene amount of paperwork that she guessed would take her the rest of today to complete.

'I can't believe we don't have someone to do all of this.' Since the secrets of SHIELD and HYDRA had been released on the internet, agents had fled the company in fear of being targeted by the public. There was still plenty of work to go around, and now it was divided amongst even fewer people, leaving those who stuck around to scramble to find order and regain their footing. Had SHIELD not been such a large part of her life, having helped her with her chronic illnesses in return for her service, she might have done what every other operative had and split the moment their company's dirty secrets had been spilled.

August's head rose from the desk, only for her to grab her coffee mug and to take long drink of her black coffee. It was lukewarm now, as she had been so determined to finish the work, that it had been forgotten. After a few gulps, she set it down, and looked back at her work.

She had been working on field reports from the last week. Now, she was forced to spend her Saturday completing them, so she could meet the deadline tonight that her superiors had given her. August sighed and ran a hand through her blonde locks, wishing she could just go back home and read the paper (how long it's been since she's done that), or even return to active field duty, instead of this dull busy work. If there was one perk to working the weekends though, it was that she was able to wear her favorite red leather jacket, and a pair of comfortable skinny jeans, instead of her SHIELD attire.

Her fingers were just hovering over the keys, about to return to work, when music suddenly came from one of the rooms ahead. She paused, and moved her eyes towards the origin of the music.

                                                                                  "Hello, daddy! Hello, mom!
I'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb!"

Blinking, August came to rest her hands in her lap. That song brought a peculiar set of memories to the front of her mind, ones where she was a sickly little girl playing with a misfit boy on the playground. Ones where she watched over his shoulder as he read his comics. Ones where she trembled when-

She shook her head. There was no time to take a trip down memory lane, but there was time to take a break and check out why SHIELD's friendly, neighborhood tech expert was blaring The Runaways from her room. August pushed her rolling chair away from the desk and stood up. After adjusting the gray shirt under her jacket, she strolled. down the office hallways, until she reached the woman's room.

"I didn't know you were into 70s rock, Lia." An eyebrow quirked up at the girl as she leaned against the door frame with her arms crossed over her chest.

Star-Lord or Peter Quill had not exactly expected to be bringing the Guardians back to Terra or Earth so soon. He actually didn’t intend to bring them back at all, originally that was until he’d found out about an infinity stone right on his home planet. Of course Peter was only part human but considering he’d been born and raised on earth he considered it home. He had been a little liberal with the truth about the planet but in fairness as a child he had heard stories about all those warriors he’d told Drax about, just not everyone was a warrior and that was what worried him about bring the Guardians here.

Now in Milano he was contemplating if this was a good idea. Getting the gem was a good idea, stopping Thanos was a good idea, letting Drax out there maybe not such a good idea, especially since the guy had a bit of trouble understanding things. He wasn’t even sure how Earth would be anymore, he didn’t have that many memories just his mother, sickly girl he’d play with and defend, sometimes he wondered what happened to her. But for all he knew the world could be completely different to what he remembered. Thinking of the Destroyer must have summoned him because there he was walking by the kitchen of the Milano, knives in hand. “We’ll be landing so you might want to get ready.” By get ready Peter was hoping the man would put away the knives which he still wasn’t sure why the alien carried around, because that was not the best way to go into this. Actually he hadn’t really thought of a way to go into this.

The Destroyer didn’t seem to get the idea of fun, or anything other than revenge. The fact of mentioning foes made Peter sigh, audibly and run a hand through is messy light brown hair. The thing was not everyone was going to be a foe and he really hoped that didn’t go over Drax’s head because then they’d be in trouble, again. More trouble than you could already get into when you were a rag tag gang of ex-criminals. He didn’t let that get him down though. He was excited to be get back to earth, he was looking forward to flirting with earth women, of danger and of finally finding people who realised how amazing the Runaways and all the other music he had was. Well someone other than Groot. He was sure that Groot appreciated it, but right now he was stuck in a flowerpot so that didn’t count.

Still Peter didn’t let thoughts of how the Destroyer might react get him down he headed to the cockpit or flight ‘deck’ if you could call it that and started to take of the ship as it descending. Of course he would, how awesome was he going to look when he landed a spaceship on terra playing brilliant music? The women would love it. Obviously taking control of the ship meant playing his Awesome Mix tape vol. 1 his mother had given him. He’d hooked his Walkman into the ships sound system so the whole crew could enjoy his music. That was just the kind of guy he was.

Starting to sing as he descended following the signal of the infinity gem he was rather impressed with how accurate the reading was. It wasn’t until he was practically on top of the city that he realised he should have thought this through a little more. Managing to avoid crashing he ended up landing in a conveniently place green space, or park in the city. The landing was not as smooth as he’d wanted but the Milano pulled them through as always. “It feels good to be home.” He exclaimed finally back on Terra now all they needed was the stone and to stop Drax killing anyone. All in all things weren’t too bad, grabbing his red leather jacket and slipping it over the grey shirt he headed towards the hatch ready to greet all the spectators as a hero.

People skills had never been her thing so with the sudden lack of agents to pick up work Ophelia Myers hadn’t been too upset. She liked technology, she liked it more than people sometimes, she wasn’t awkward around it. It also meant she would work on other things while doing the most exciting job SHIELD had listening. Listening to what? Well anything, she had to listen to radio frequencies, scan them and if anything strange came up she had to listen more and record. The anti-terrorist, anti-threat, anti-super villain because apparently they were officially real now along with the super heroes organisation liked to listen in for anything strange. It helped. Of course it hadn’t really helped stop Loki when he’d attacked, nor had it picked up that HYDRA was in SHIELD which was probably because they knew the other was listening… Basically it was antiquated and Lia would love to do something else. Now she was… Sort of.

Lia sat staring at the screen of figures and data. It was one her new duties to try and shut down leaks and control the data being put to the public regarding SHIELD. She admired the Captain for what he did but honestly this was a mess. A real mess. While some of the mess was cleared up fast SHIELD was still weak and down lots of agents so it fell to her to do some clean up herself. Busy deleting some data she wasn’t at all ready for the scanner to pick up what it did, music. Music that she’d listened to when she was younger maybe and that her parents might listen to now. It wasn’t a usual thing.

She adjusted the glasses on her nose turning to the screen showing where the frequency was coming from. It made no sense. She started typing to try and track the true signal because she couldn’t believe it. Lia stopped when she heard the familiar voice of August speak to her. She knew some of the field agents had been dragged in but she was surprised they could keep August down, she liked working the field not paper work. “I don’t… Well I don’t mind it but it’s not mine it’s coming from something else…” The female was about to say something when there was the sound of an impact not far from them. One of the many smaller apartment buildings SHIELD had had to take to using looked out over the local park and Lia couldn’t believe her eyes. There was…an object landing in the park… right out of the sky. The last time anything like that had happened was the attack at New York with the Avengers.

                                              I- Is that a spaceship?

Lia looked at her, confusion marring her face. While August was not the first person people should go to for tech help, she did know that something was not right, and the other blonde woman was trying to figure out what that was. “I don’t… Well I don’t mind it but it’s not mine it’s coming from something else…” She could hardly fight the smirk off her face. The sound of a collision caused it to fall, and for an expression of confusion to take its place. Her eyes followed where Lia's went, and she froze.

A massive blue and orange ship sat in Central Park, which they saw clearly from the apartment building SHIELD had taken. “I- Is that a spaceship?”

"I have no idea" she said slowly, taking in the appearance of the ship through the window. August's gaze snapped to Lia. "We need to go check it out - make sure they aren't here to hurt humans." She twirled around and began to march out the door, when she heard the stammer of her friend. She craned her neck to look at the girl, who had yet to leave her chair.

"You're coming, too." She was not making it an option. While she had been on countless missions by herself, this was something that would require more than just herself.

"B-but I'm not- this isn't my area of expertise..." Lia trailed off, and August shook her head.

"No, maybe not, but you are a tech whiz. And think of all of the stuff that could be on that craft, yeah?" She grinned and nodded her head towards the exit. "If you know anything about me, you'll know that I won't take no for an answer."

                                                                                  ---

They had taken one of SHIELD's massive SUVs, with August driving and Lia in the passenger seat. Her driving was reckless, swerving in between traffic to get to the landing zone. She did not bother to ask the other woman how she was doing, until she slammed on the brakes. "Sorry, kind of had to rush. How're you holding up?"

People were gathering around the site in the park, but as soon as they saw the vehicle with the SHIELD license plate, they stepped backed to let them park closer. August jumped out of the SUV, and already had her gun out and aimed as soon as she broke through the crowd. Her heart thumped ravenously in her chest as she ran closer to the ship. August had never dealt directly with aliens, even though she had been a part of SHIELD when the invasion of NYC had taken place. She did not believe that it would come to this with them, considering there was no portal.

"I know you guys can understand me. It's Cherry Bomb, right? A song from Earth?" She yelled, not wanting to get too close, nor too far so they could run away without her getting an accurate shot in. "Why don't you cowboys put your hands up and walk away from the ship, nice and slowly." She almost cooed it out, if it were not for the rough edge to her voice. Her stance was strong and unwavering, despite how nervous she felt. She watched as four different creatures stepped closer, most not looking so happy to have a gun in their face, but her eyes fell onto the one in the middle. He looked human, with beige skin and human proportions.

He scraped his thumb over the dagger as rumbling stopped, but the engines blaring in full gear replaced it. He remained unperturbed, even when Gamora walked past the kitchen, with Rocket carrying Groot's pot following close behind.

"Why does Peter think it is a good idea for us to come with him to Terra? The Nova Corp reported they have had minimal to no contact with other non-Terran life, and that which has, has been hostile."

"Do ya really trust Quill to get the stone on his own? Whoever has it isn't gonna hand it over willy nilly!"

Drax stood up and placed his knife in the holster of his boot, and joined up with the other three Guardians.

"I can only hope this planet of warriors Quill has spoken about live up to his words."

                                                                                  "Everything's a fight to ya, isn't it?"

Drax looked down at Rocket who was shaking his head. He did not comment, as saying anything more would have been useless. The four of them made their way to the room below the cockpit. The new Milano had a window that ran down from the top of the cockpit to the meeting area below, allowing them a view of the approaching planet.

Through the clear material, colors of blue and green dominated, but as they neared the ground, grays popped out. While his vision was not the best out of all of the Guardians, he could pick out what looked like buildings down below. Unlike Xandar, it appeared much more industrial and chaotic. If he remembered correctly, it had been over twenty 'sol rotations' since he'd last stepped foot on Terra, and he wondered how much had changed. Had Drax had the chance, he would have killed hundreds of thousands of men, just to see his planet.

Everyone watched as Peter guided the ship down, and for a second, it appeared as if he was going to land on one of the buildings. He slowed the Milano down, and aimed for a massive patch of green. Steadily, the ship made its way to the ground, and for a minute or two, it seemed as if they would never land. Then, the ship shook up and down once, a sign that it was fully grounded.

Drax watched as Peter bolted down the stairs and ran for the hatch. Gamora, Rocket, and Drax all looked at each other, before following him.

As the walked down the ramp, he was unsure of what to expect. Perhaps warriors ready for battle, or an army dividing to let them speak with Terra's leaders.

...but he was not expecting was a Terran woman standing with a gun pointed straight at Peter, standing a hundred or some feet in front of terrified pedestrians.

Peter knew the rest of the Guardian’s didn’t have much faith in him but honestly this was going to be awesome. He was going to return home with alien beings a hero. Or that’s how he expected it. He caught them speaking but didn’t care much for what they had to say. Rocket spoke big for a little raccoon but Peter knew this was going to be easy he was going to welcomed like a prince. Of course Peter was romanticising it, he also had no knowledge that less than a few years ago an ‘alien’ and an army of other aliens had tried to take over the earth and almost levelled New York.

When Peter heard a female voice outside he couldn’t help but smirk, rather pleased with himself until the ramp lowered and he saw her gun pointed at him. Damn and she’d known his music too. Being the kind of man he was he didn’t put his hands up but walked a few steps forward, unsure why the people looked terrified. He noticed a timid blonde scurrying to the other females side and looked at them both. They were an odd pair.

I thought a girl who had good taste in music wouldn’t be so rude to a hero.” He smiled at the woman pointing the gun coming down a little further moving his hands up a little to show he wasn’t about to pull anything. Apart from trying to flirt. “Maybe you just don’t know who I am, Star – Lord also known on Terra as Peter Quill.” He was acting as if he was famous, in his mind he sort of was, but really he just wanted to impress the crew. Inwardly he was pretty happy they were greeted with a gun, now Drax wouldn’t question him about the warriors of terra. Of course he hoped the big guy didn’t start anything serious.

And it seems you are our welcoming party.” The girl beside the female started pointing at Rocket.

There’s a…Raccoon there right…standing up and walking like in a Disney movie?” The female fiddling with her glasses spoke. Obviously in awe and not at all terrified by the arrival of strangers in the middle of the greenspace.

That is Rocket, then we have Drax the D-dude, the beautiful Gamora and Groot.” He spoke to both females mostly but glanced to the people behind, a few edging closer and few moving back. He wasn’t about to say Destroyer when a pretty woman had a gun pointed at them and they had a scared audience. Drax the Dude just sounded a little less…terrifying.

This is ridiculous, ask ‘em about the stone Quill.” Rocket spoke and Lia’s eyes widened. Peter put his hand up to try and quiet down Rocket. “We don’t want trouble why don’t you put down the gun and we can talk things out?” He flashed his best smile to August. “I also think your friend might be about to pass out.

It was then the sound of sirens could be heard in the distance, even after years away from earth he knew that sound it was the police, or some sort of law enforcement. This was not the welcome Peter had expected for the great Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Lia wasn’t exactly the type to turn down the chance to play around with tech but she wasn’t the type to run in to a dangerous situation. The promise of the tech had won and that was how she’d ended up with August speeding to the crash site. When the breaks slammed on Lia wasn’t expecting it and ended up falling forward a little. “Fine… Just nervous.” There was no need to lie. Besides August was a field agent she would probably read that from Lia’s body language.

When August went off Lia slowly followed a small tablet in her hand. Honestly she couldn’t believe how calm August appeared, yeah no way she could work the field she felt sick already. When August was speaking and the people emerged her mouth opened and closed several times. If there wasn’t the aftermath of the attack on NYC in her mind her inner sci-fi geek would probably take over. Right now she was worried sick something bad would happen.

When she saw the other, not so human looking aliens she took each one in before focusing on the racoon who was standing up like a human. She spoke to August mostly while moving her glasses in fear she was hallucinating. When the man, Peter Quill, replied with the names her mouth opened again and she paled, fiddling with the collar of her shirt.

I…This is crazy.” She paused when the sound of sirens reached her hears. “I’m fine.” She shot a slight glare to Peter and straightened her stance hearing the sirens and cursing. All they needed was the city law arguing about who had jurisdiction here.

We need to get them out of here… And I need to get in there.” She wasn’t about to let this cocky human-looking alien get the better of her, and what kind of name was Star-Lord? She looked to the Milano with a glint in her eye this would be brilliant. “It’s your call.” Lia looked to August and was sure the woman was about to give orders when Peter closed the distance.

Alright ladies so where do you want us?

Lia narrowed her eyes at the man, alien or whatever he was as he beckoned the rest of the crew to follow him.

"I think I'd have preferred them trying to kill us instead of this." She frowned to the other agent and ignored Peter's hurt look. He was acting like a child but now she just really, really wanted to get her hands on that spaceship.

August could only blink and give the man a questioning look when he called himself a hero. What was he talking about? Was there some reference she was missing? Her aim did not waver, and followed him, even as he strolled closer to the two women. What was this man getting at any-

                                                                                  ...

What? What? She was frozen. Her mind was racing with questions, with doubts, and with all of the reasons why she was losing her mind. August was probably still at her desk, having fallen asleep on the job. Yes, that was much more feasible, than the idea that Peter Quill, the boy who had disappeared twenty seven years ago, was now standing sprinting distance from her. And flirting with her. Her teeth grit together, to prevent her jaw from falling. This was impossible, beyond impossible!

She kept silent at his 'welcoming committee' comment, still trying to find some semblance of peace in her chaotic mind, but she did look over at where Lia pointed. "...I can't say this is the weirdest thing I've seen, or heard all day." It was difficult to pay attention as he introduced the other members of his crew.

August's eyebrows knit together in confusion. Stone? "I think you're well beyond the point of simply talking this out," she said, with her head tilting to the growing crowd. And then, only to add to her point, the tell-tale sounds of sirens reached her ear. At Lia's comment, she found herself slowly lowering her gun. It was obvious that they had nowhere to run, and hopping into the SUV with the ship sitting in the middle of Central Park was not an option. With Peter approaching, she had to decide what to do. Now.

August remained where she was standing until he was just an arms reach away. She gave Lia a quick look, silently telling her to get ready to book it. She took a small step forward so her shoulder was almost touching his chest, looked away from his face, and spoke lowly. "I want you and your crew back on your ship, and you're going to let us on board. I'm going to tell you where to land it, and then we're gonna sit down ask you guys a couple of questions. And you're going to trust us for numerous reasons." She paused, and turned her head to look him dead in the eyes. "For one, a lot of things have happened since you've left earth, Peter Quill - and yes, I know who you are. If you think you can land in the middle of Central Square without eliciting unwanted attention, well, even more reason to trust us. Secondly, the police will probably be here in a couple of minutes, and they will not be as nice as us. They will probably want to experiment and run tests on your friends and, if you're even an ounce of who I remember you to be, you'd do anything in your power to protect them." She remained resolute, even though each word was like a pin to the heart. August wanted to tell him who she was, but there was no time.

She took a small step back from him and raised her eyebrows. "Sound like a plan, Starlord?"

Needless to say, Drax, along with Gamora and Rocket (as Groot probably did not fully understand the situation), was thoroughly confused.

If this was any indicator as to what Terra was like, a majority of the earth was like, he was expecting to see many more weaklings. While the two women stood in front of a growing crowd, with some stepping forward in curiosity and others stepping away in fear, the one in the front only looked fierce because she held a gun in her hand and stood unwavering. The Destroyer looked on at the other woman with glasses, as she gazed at the Milano as if she had just seen something wonderful. He remained silent, but looked over at Gamora and Rocket.

Gamora appeared a little peeved, but was certainly intrigued. Rocket looked fully annoyed, not an ounce of interest on his furry face. Groot, as usual, was taking in his surroundings and did it much more due to the unfamiliar surroundings. The tree looked like he wanted to say something, but whether held back by the large audience or the inability to speak, Drax did not know.

As the Terrans conversed with one another, he took the time to observe their surroundings. They had landed in a spot of nature surrounded by industrial life. It seemed to be a park, and it must have been thoroughly occupied, due to the large crowd. He noticed that while the people's gazes fell onto all three, a majority of them remained on his form. Small Terrans pointed at him, and some people gasped. Drax wished to go down and question them, but Gamora had placed a hand on his shoulder, prompting him to frown and remain where he was at.

When Peter introduced them, he could not help but give the back of Peter's head a peculiar look. Drax the Dude? He could not find a place to speak in the fray, and then, high pitched wails that varied in pitch and length began to sound from far away. The noise seemed to trigger a response from all three humans, varying slightly in each. The woman with her haired pulled back looked alarm, and had said something inaudible to Peter and the other woman.

"This is not what I expected from Terra. Perhaps they have grown weak since Quill departed."

"Something tells me that isn't the case."

"Whatever the reason, he needs to hurry up so we can get off this rock."

All four of them watched curiously as the woman that had once pointed the gun at them lowered her weapon, and stopped closer to Peter. They could not hear what she was saying, or how he responded, due to the distance and how lowly they spoke. Despite him having waved them away from the ship, they all waited until the interaction ended before they completely stepped off the ship.

Peter could feel Drax staring at him but honestly he’d worry about that later. If there was a later because right now things were not going to his plan. The plan he’d made about five minutes before entering the Earth’s atmosphere but that was definitely not the point. While he spoke he surveyed both women, each had potential then again most females had potential in Peter’s mind. The one with glasses who looked ready to pass out sort of reminded him of a girl he used to play with. How he’d imagine her to be at least. It had been twenty seven years. If it was her he was going to play the fate line till she finally admitted she liked him. It had been obvious when they were children so why should they hide it now.

When the more aggressive female spoke, probably more of a challenge too, he arched an eyebrow and feigned surprise. “Really? They look impressed to me.” ‘And terrified’. He looked at her for a second before he closed the gap. If he couldn’t win her over maybe he’d try the other girl. When the girl with the gun started to lower it he smirked a little thinking this was in the bag. When she started giving orders that sort of threw him for one.

Now what just a minute.” He started to talk to the back or side of her head. He understood she might find him handsome but no one had turned away from him before. “Wha-” Peter was about to question just why they should trust a couple of women, not that he was against bringing them on board the ship but this didn’t sound like a social meeting. When the female looked directly at him there was something in the look he couldn’t place. Amazement? Fear? Confusion? He didn’t know and honestly he didn’t care, he was too busy listening to her now. A smug smile tugged at his lips before he wondered just how she knew who he was. His eyes glanced to the other female, the one who was acting skittish and excited all at once, with her hair pulled back. Nah, there was no way it could be August… Could it. When she finished Peter just nodded. “Sounds like a good plan. Don’t abuse the name though.” He give her a flirty wink before hooking an arm around her waist and starting to lead her up the ramp.

Not to be led by him August soon started to walk up the ramp by herself past the three (four including an even more confused Groot) crew members as Lia stumbled up behind them. “Alright guys, new plan. Apparently this wasn’t the right landing spot after all.” When the rest got in he closed the hatch and headed for the cockpit, inviting both girls with him before starting the engines.

                                              ---

Now on the Milano with his two new girls around him and the rest of the crew questioning his ability and sanity, once more, apart from Groot and Drax who seemed rather content to remain quiet for a bit. He felt much better and much more in control. “So where do you want me to go, princess?” He asked the female in the red jacket, still not having names. He looked over the other female with glasses and saw her looking at the controls of the ship.

So what exactly is the plan here? ‘Cause I can’t see no stone just two women.

Then the female in glasses finally spoke up.

For most of the interaction Lia stayed quiet a mixture of excitement and fear pulling her internally. She wasn’t sure if to smile her cover her mouth in case she was sick from nerves. When August spoke about it not being the weirdest thing she gave the field agent a look. Really? Because she had never seen a talking Raccoon. The thought of the ship and it’s technology was pulling her through. She liked technology, it didn’t talk to her, didn’t judge her, it just was there and nice. Even if SHIELD didn’t like her playing with some of their newest tech. A powerful gem for example. She’d heard about it and the fact the racoon mentioned a stone made her think about it more. The way the man kept looking at her made her feel a bit uneasy. It was like he was trying to place her but honestly being stared at was not something she liked. Problem from school she hadn’t got over.

Her eyes rested on the rest of the crew not because she was scared so much as intrigued. Although the blue guy, he could probably flatten her with a flick of wrist. Unlike some scientists or crazy government people she wasn’t intrigued and planning to dissect them. She just couldn’t believe real live aliens were stood there and not trying to enslave the human race. All her nerdy sci-fi dreams as a kid were coming true. She caught August’s look and couldn’t help but frown. She knew where this was going and it was exactly why she liked staying behind a desk or in a lab.

She couldn’t do much before they were on the ship, pacing the rest of the crew and she so gracefully stumbled over the threshold. Classy was her middle name. Another reason she didn’t do field work.

                                              ---

When ‘settled’ Lia was really out of her comfort zone, a humanoid racoon near her holding a flowerpot with a twig in it. A strangely beautiful but also deadly looking green woman, the tall blue man that in a way reminded her of ‘The Hulk’, August not looking oh so pleased and a glance from the Starlord again. When the Racoon spoke about a stone and insulted them, sort of Lia finally snapped. Her eyes leaving the multitude of buttons and technology and a really old Sony Walkman to look at the furry face of the animals beside her.

Look, I’m not happy about this either but…It’s not exactly a waste. I might know what you are talking about.

That was the wrong thing to say, everyone looked at her. She couldn’t tell if August wanted to kill her or not from the look she was giving, Peter looked for a second but then turned back to piloting. The blue man, female and the racoon didn’t break their gaze though.

Well, what ya waitin’ for? Tell us.

Lia let her hands fall onto her lap, glancing back at the control panel. “I don’t know much.

Ya either do, or ya don’t.

I wasn’t allowed to work on it but our, people I work for.” She stumbled for the words unsure if August, SHIELD or any one of the aliens might kill her now. “have been playing around with some gem. It’s really powerful tech apprantly I tried to get to work with it but I wasn’t allowed.” She shrugged a little.

You know, you’re a lot less sickly than I remember.

Those words had come from the pilot and Lia narrowed her brows at them. Remember? She was? Sure she’d had a crappy immune system and got colds a lot in childhood but she’d never been overly sickly.
