Missions were always such a pain. She knew there was crimes in the street and all but Evelyn didn't understand why she had to get into it all. The woman frowned slightly as she read the letter that was handed to her by the head of the New York Police Department. Apparently the mafia was at it again, but what else was new? They were always causing some kind of trouble or another, so why was everyone so shocked about it? Maybe it was the fact that they deliberately attacked police forces had gotten everyone wired up.
At first she had thought it had nothing to do with her. Sure, she could fight and handle her own in a fight, but the thing was she was merely an undercover agent. She wasn't supposed to get in the line of fire. She was the one that most criminals fear mainly because they never knew who she was. The woman had gone by many aliases in the past, but being in the C.I.A that was only expected. Her job now though was something she hadn't done in quite a while. That was to infiltrate the bases of the Italian Mafia and bring them down.
She was too collect as much information as needed about all members, mainly the heads of the different city sections and the big bad boss of the whole organization. "Cripes this is a big job." She muttered under her breath, burning the letter in a nearby stove. There was on point in keeping that around just in case anyone decided to read it. There was an envelope from which the letter came from that held her alias, birth certificate, and anything else she would need to prove who she was faking to be.
Looking at all the papers made the brunette frown but she took it anyway. The name chosen for her was Lucia Pisano, born and raised in Italy who's family moved here in hopes that they would live a better life. Huh, like she hadn't heard that story many times over. Apparently from the records her parents were killed in a working accident, so to get back in the American government she wanted to join the mafia. Her eyebrows creased together as she looked at the positions that most women held in the mafia.
None of them seemed very nice to say the least. Italians viewed women as jewels, therefore she doubted they would allow her to fight. That meant she was only good for two things. One: keeping the men happy, pretty much being their maids and cooks. Two: being a prostitute. Either one didn't sound very inviting to her, but work was work. She couldn't just decline the request since it came straight from the legislature. Sighing with annoyance she threw the letters to the side in her apartment and got dressed.
She went with a leather jacket, a leather skirt, long black boots, and gloves. She pinned her curly brown hair up, allowing quite a few locks of hair to fall away from her face. She grabbed a bag before walking out of the apartment. Walking out of the building she headed to the first place she could think of a mafia base being, which was the slums. Just as she thought there were plenty of thugs in the area. The woman rolled her eyes as a few whistled towards her, but she took no notice of it. After all she had her revolver stuck in her purse somewhere...
Shrugging it off the girl headed to a large club area, where she assumed the mafia group would be. They usually congregated to whore houses or clubs. Stepping inside; Evelyn surveyed the area, noting she was correct. There were plenty of mafia members in the area, no doubt a mafia head owned the place. The men in there quickly turned as she entered, making her smirk softly. Her clothes fit tightly, showing off her figure, and to her surprise there weren't any women in the club. Wrong timing she supposed.
Not that it mattered at this point. "Hello boys." She purred out as seductively as she could, her eyes scanning the crowd of men. Her nose wrinkled in disgust as noted that most weren't even looking at her, rather at her body. Pigs. Walking past them with long strides she sat at the bar and ordered a shot of whiskey, crossing her right leg over her left and smiling softly towards the men. "Will anyone so kindly direct me to Giovanni Moretti?" Ah, that seemed to get their attention. She knew for a fact that Giovanni was one of the mafia heads, so no doubt people would want to know why someone as classy as Evelyn was looking for such a dangerous man.

The clubs air was thick with a blue smog as the sounds of men’s voices filled the room, sounds of drunks and people wasting away their money. What was money really worth to them anyway? They were all going to die someday, and there was no one to leave it to, and there was no way of taking it with them. Men sat up on bar stools, others around poker tables laughing and drinking and gambling, life was good for a man right then. Most of the men in the room were part of the Italian mafia family, while the others were close associates and trusted men. If one didn’t know the truth of the gentlemen, if a stranger walked in off the street the club could have been described as a poorly run gentlemen’s club, consider the extreme lack of women and the men’s business attire that seemed to be present, almost like a uniform. Cops had uniforms, so did these business men… just theirs didn’t make them look like dorks.
Sitting off at the one poker table a group of five men sat, drinks in hands, cards played out, all once again dressed in a high man’s fashion. David threw out his hand of cards as a few laughs went around the table it was his third… maybe fifth hand in a row he’d thrown not to mention losing hands before that, the cards were not in his favour that afternoon. “Ah what be the matter lad? Lady luck cheatin’ on ya today?” a man think with an Irish accent spoke over to David as his filled his hand with a drink.
“Can’t trust her, she just loves ya and leaves ya… I’m just donating to your retirement costs anyway,” David pushed off before taking a drink whiskey from his glass as the other laughed. Putting the empty glass back down David continued to watch the game despite he fact he was out of the round and out of chips to boot. David only came there to blow off steam anyway, he was the boss man’s left wing man’s, wing man. It was confusing enough to make him drink himself but still… the money was good, not that it would ever matter in the end. His job was too do what was asked of him, to shut up, and to try and stay alive as long as possible. I was born in the states but his father blood ran deep in the family, bless his mother’s heart giving him an American name to try and give him a change but her baby boy would just blindly fallow papa.
Sitting there watching the game unfold and half listening to the conversation going around the table, the idea of bringing more booze from the north to make more money was being tossed around. His head would only look up from the green felt table was he heard the door at the front of the club open and a dame in black leather walk in. David couldn’t help but keep looking up at the woman, his eyes going up and down here watching her walk just like half of the other men in the place before looking back at the table and over to the Irish man as the exchanged shrugs. She seemed to be a woman asking for trouble walking into a place like where she was but what could they do? Stay away… that was what. David suddenly whistled to get the next man’s attention back in the game, the man looked at David as in a way of saying, “But….” Yet David shook his head, it wasn’t worth the trouble, women never were.
Just as if to prove the point moment’s latter the woman called out a name which everyone had heard of before gaining back all the eyes in the room plus a few more like David. The Irish man and David looked at each other again as the Irish man shrugged the responsibility off to David… after all, David was Giovanni Moretti’s wing man’s wing man. It fell into his category of taking care of things. “See? Trouble, learn now kid,” David softly said to the younger man who earlier couldn’t take his eyes off of the woman, before he reach and smacked him up on the side of the kids head to make him focus back on the game. Getting up from his seat David straightened out his vest and gun sling before he grabbed his empty glass and walked over to the counter beside the woman and placed the glass on the counter for the bartender to refill it. “Now, Dollface, why would someone like you… need to talk to the boss?” David asked a half smile on his face as things started to turn back into a chatter like things were before the woman walked into the place. David was taking care of it after all… things must have been fine.
Picking up the freshly poured drink David turned to his side slightly so he could better face the woman and give her a once over started from top skimming down to the bottom and the slowly taking his time back up her before falling one her face and where his half smile turned to a full charming one. “You ain’t one of boss’s girls, you ain’t his type,” David explained before taking a drink from his glass. “So what’s your name Dollface? And better yet what’s your business here?” David asked putting down the glass as he waited to hear this one’s story wondering what in the world she wanted.

It got rather silent in the room and she could only assume that talking about the boss was a bad idea. Though Giovanni wasn't the head of the whole mafia he was one of the many section leaders. He controlled the east side of New York, and from what she had heard he owned this club. Police couldn't enter, or rather they were payed not to. Many people in this city were easily influenced by money so Evelyn supposed she wasn't surprised. It still irritated her thought, and she took a sip of the whiskey. It was strong, but she didn't seem to notice. Alcohol was nothing when she had to drink to keep up with her image.
Her bright hazel eyes inspected the room till she caught sight of a man standing up from a card game. He walked over to her with an empty glass and she could only look him up and down while taking another sip of the glass. He wasn't that bad looking, quite handsome actually. And here she thought all the mafia members were ugly. Of course, that was usually a wrong assumption. A few friends at work always claimed that the bad boys were always the cute ones. She knew a few agents who dated mafia men. It didn't last long or well since one of them died from the relationship.
Though, they weren't lying about the men being good looking. From what she could see most of them were rugged looks wise and well toned. It had to be a trait for people who constantly evaded the police though. When the man finally spoke to her, she could only give him an annoyed look. Doll face? Someone had called her that once. She beat the poor chap up pretty badly. If there was one thing Evelyn couldn't stand it was being called doll face. It was a nickname for a whore, not a woman of her esteem. She only shrugged it off, sighing softly as he asked why someone like her was looking for the boss.
She stayed quiet, only sitting still during his inspection. He was a pig like everyone else, taking in her body before giving her such a charming smile. She only rolled her eyes, looking away as he noted she wasn't one of Giovanni's girls. Of course she wasn't! The last thing she wanted to do was sleep with some disgusting old man. "The name's Lucia. Lucia Pisano." Lying was bliss and pulling off an Italian look wasn't hard for someone with her features. "And you are?" Her words came out more sassy than she expected it to be, but that couldn't be helped.
In all truth she already didn't like this man. He just seemed much to suave. It was usually men like him that caused trouble for female agents like herself. "I'm here to discuss something with the man." She leaned closer towards the man, that way the others couldn't over hear what she was going to say next. "I want to be a part of the gang, and not some whore to entertain you pigs." She informed him, her eyes looking determined and rather serious.

David stayed leaning against the bar holding his drink in his hand readying to take a sip of it when needed, the way the woman was talking it would be long before. Still he managed to stay focused on her and her words, as she asked his name in return where he shrugged. “My name doesn’t matter till I know what you want,” David explained casually trying his best to ignore the sass coming from her tone. David was the one who had power in the conversation and he wasn’t about to give it up to this woman in front of her, the mind tricks of the clothes were about to make him a fool. Finally the woman gave up the information, leaning in close to try and make sure only he heard the information, drawing just more attention from the bartender behind the counter. People always wanted to know what they weren’t allowed too, it was human nature.
When she informed him of what she wanted David leaned back and looked at her again with a raised eyebrow, and looked at her drink to see it still fairly full. “Can’t handle our liquor very well can we Doll Face? Because that’s the only explanation for that serious look on your face,” David commented before taking a drink of his own. Trouble, women were trouble. What would a woman like her want to be part of the action of guns and gangsters? Nah… something didn’t sit right with him. Still the man shouldn’t let her walk out without knowing what she really wanted… that may cause him a bit of grief down the road. From the poker table the young lad that David had just hit called his name and asked if he was in for another round or not. David looked over and waved his hand in a ‘no, go on’ kind of way before stepping out from the bar to pull over a bar stool for himself to sit down on beside the woman, beside Lucia.
“Yet… let’s just say for a moment… you’re not drunk… yet,” David continued on settling the glass down on the counter still having his hand wrapped around it just in case needed again. “First, boss wouldn’t be interested in see you right now, you ain’t got nothing good to offer, second of all, he ain’t even in to begin with,” David explained the facts at hand as he shrugged. “So you’re stuck with me, for now… I’ll get that changed soon as I can’t, trust me,” David explained feeling how irritated the woman was being, as well as himself for having to deal with the woman. Why couldn’t Mario had been in to take care of this mess.
“In order to be part of the institution, instead of the entertainment, you need to bring something to the game,” David explained honestly and trying to take her somewhat semi-serious despite the whole silliness of the idea of a woman getting in to do the action. “So when I go talk to my boss saying that a lovely woman such as yourself wants to join our field of work, he’s going to ask me, ‘Why, what can she do’ I’m going to have to say something,” David further on explained. “What am I going to tell them Miss Lucia Pisano?” David asked rolling her name in a heavier Italian accent like his own papa would have in the home land.

Though handsome the man was more than a bit annoying. She glowered towards him as he continued to call her doll face, not even giving her his name. So he was some kind of hot shot now was he? Well, he was certainly going to meet his match. Even more so when he said something about her not handling the liquor. Was that a challenge? Evelyn figured it was. She grabbed the glass, downing half of it as she only rolled her eyes. "You darling fool. It takes much more than a glass of whiskey to get me drunk." It came out as a low growl, her smile still playing it's way on her face.
Getting under this man's skin was now her main goal, even if her mission had to come first. There was no way in hell she was going to allow him to talk down to her as though she was just some woman. Sure, she looked defenseless but no doubt she could throw him over her shoulders in a heart beat should she really want to. Instead she played it cool, leaning against the counter for a moment as she listened to him state that Giovanni wasn't around. Well, wasn't that just a waste.
The thought of being stuck with him for the moment made her scoff, but at least she knew the feeling was mutual. She could already tell she was going to have quite a bit of problems on this mission. The main problem being this young man in front of her. There was something about him that she couldn't place her finger on. It was almost as though she had the feeling he was going to be the reason why she failed this mission. Sighing, she downed the rest of her glass, mainly due to the annoyance she was feeling at the moment.
Damn, a martini would be better than this crap, but it was still alcohol, so it would have to do for the moment. He asked what she could do, and Evelyn only smiled a small bit, the small a bit mischievous. Oh, if only he knew what she could do. She knew how to kill a man with only a few choice household items. Hand to hand was something she learned, and shooting a gun was the least of her concerns. But of course, he didn't need to know any of that.
The woman pretended to think about it for a moment, allowing her annoyance to fade. He said her name with a heavy accent, making her look away. It was cute to say the least. Too bad that wasn't her name. "I can shoot a gun easily, and if you need proof than by all means I can prove it. I'm also really flexible." That last part could be taken in many different ways, and if she knew them for pigs than she knew what they were thinking as far as flexibility was concerned.
Hopefully that would be enough to allow her into the mafia. Although being one of their play toys was the last thing on her mind. fighting alongside them was fine, but if it came down to it she had to take any job that they were willing to give her. It was her mission after all, and the government was counting on her success. She couldn't fail this mission all due to her pride.

Lucia announced that it would take more than the whiskey to get her drunk but she was talking drunk talk in his mind, still he admired the stick up, yet it could have just to try and prove a point, try and shoot him down. No, power was his, he wasn’t about to lose the power in the conversation due to the sub lining challenge of a drinking contest. Still his eyes gave a slight glare at her calling him a fool, David Mancini was no fool, yet he finished the rest of his drink and push the glass over for a refill, a foolish move of subconstionaly allowing the alcoholic comment getting to him.
He sat there and listened to her explain what she could do, shooting a gun, and flexibility. God he couldn’t help but smirk when she said that, she did indeed say that right? Once again he was having a hard time taking her seriously. “The flexibility skills you claim to have, they don’t help when shooting a gun,” David had to touch on taking a drink from his refilled glass. Sitting back a bit he wiped off the smirk on his face to a more casual smile, trying to refocus on the main point in the conversation. “Anyone can shoot a gun, it’s easy, you pull the trigger,” David moved on to a semi-serious tone, trying to be slightly more professional. “Can you aim, can you stair your target dead in the eye, can you deal with the aftermath of it all?” David asked the serious questions which sometimes even the men in their couldn’t answer. Blood came on the hands of everyone in that club, in one way or another, either them killing the person, or them witnessing the life being taken from another by another hands doing. Some of them men had seen it more times than they would ever care to admit, some had seen it to many time, to the point of their mind unable to function right, and the other hand past the point that they no longer felt anything.
“You know… you haven’t really answered my why, why you want to join such a… lucrative operation,” David said as his finger tapped against the glass his own mind trying to find out reasons that she would be there. She was beautiful, and surly could find herself better work then this, find herself a man to take care of her. Nah… that didn’t seem to be her, she seemed more like a fighter, a woman who wasn’t use to not getting what she wanted. Determined little thing she was. David shook his head, not understanding why he was doing what he was about to do, but surly Mario would know what to do with her. “Isaia!” David called over to the bartender making the man who was half listening to the couples conversation look over to David full attention. “Get me a pen will yeah?” David asked and waited for Isaia to hand over the pen allowing David to write something on a napkin before handing back the pen.
David did another look over Lucia and shook his head once finished and then held out the napkin to the woman. “You get one shot and showing off these so called skills… the useful ones,” David said to her. “Be there on time, when you get there just tell them you’re waiting for David,” David explained waiting till she took the napkin which held an address of an actual firing range which the Mafia had bought out to allow target practice to happen. “Bring your own equipment, and remember one chance Doll Face,” David told her with the smile as he finished of his second glass since he was sitting at the bar and left the glass there as he walked back over to the poker table collecting his jacket and staying to talk to the few men at the table.

This guy was undermining her and she hated it. There were times when Evelyn really hated being an undercover agent and that was at moments like this. Men looked at her and thought that there was no possible way she could hold her own in a gun fight. It pissed her off since she was one of the best shooters back at the base. Hand to hand was what she excelled in second, but shooting a gun came first. She had killed men before, many though out of the country mafia members.
She only sighed softly, glaring at him as he handed her the address. If only he was the target she could shoot. The woman was half tempted to pull the pistol that was hiding in her hand bag, but thought better of it. That would only raise the suspicion that no doubt the man was already drawing from her. He also stated that she hadn't answered his question about her wanting to join. She only shrugged, downing her refilled glass. He didn't need to know her motives. His boss did, but not him as far as she was concerned.
"My motives are simply revenge." She stated, while standing up and paying the bar tender. Looking down at the address the girl memorized it, knowing full well to head there the next day. She got as much information as she could today, or rather little information. She had one shot, and had to bring her own equipment. No problem, she could do this so long as she thought it to be practice back at work. On her way out the girl heard men whispering to one another, asking what she wanted in hopes that the woman wouldn't over hear.
Rolling her eyes she headed home, walking straight into her apartment and picking up the phone. She called her boss, waiting till she finally answered. "Well? You in yet?" He sounded strained on the other end, no doubt wondering if this mission was a bust or not. "Patience, Allen. I'll be in by tomorrow I swear. Apparently they own a shooting range, so I'm heading there tomorrow to prove myself." There was silence for a second before she heard a sigh. "Just don't blow your cover."
Like she hadn't heard that one before. "No worries, I won't. I'll call back tomorrow to keep you informed." After she hung up the woman laid down and glowered towards the address. Hopefully she wouldn't have to deal with that annoying David, because that would be just her luck. Shrugging it off she allowed herself to sleep the night away. Might as well get all the sleep she could, for the woman had a feeling that sleep wouldn't be happening in the near future.
The next morning she dressed in jeans, and a loose t-shirt. She slipped on her shoes and placed her favorite pistol; stuffing it in her bag. While she was at it Evelyn slipped on some gloves and read through the address. It was a few blocks to walk, but well worth it. It only took her about thirty minutes to get there, and when she arrived the woman could only frown. There were quite a few large men who were dressed up for a shooting range. "State your business." One commanded.
She only raised an eyebrow and placed her hand on her hip. "I'm waiting for David." The two men looked at each other before nodding and allowing her through. She only smirked and walked in, taking in the shooting range. She took out her pistol, aiming it at one of the targets, but not shooting. This was going to be a piece of cake as far as she was concerned.

Walking back over to the poker table and putting on his jacket David kept his eye on the woman as he watched her finally get up and leave the club allowing him to then turn his attention back at the table fully as Cahal the Irishman sat back in his chair looking up at David. “What the young miss want walking in a place like this?” Cahal asked David as David retrieved money from his wallet, a few twenties which would pay his debt for the day. “She ain’t one of Moretti’s girls… ain’t his type,” Cahal said continuing on the same path of thinking that David had originally thought about making David chuckle at the man’s comment. It was amazing how well Cahal and David could read people.
“She wants in,” David simply said as he grabbed his hat that sat on a coat rack not far from the table and placed the fedora on his head. Cahal gave a whistle at the comment as young fellow at the table looked confused, obviously not understanding the big deal about the situation. “She says she can shoot but… Mario can make the call, I personally don’t like it. She’s got this… thing, my guts in knots when lookin’ at her,” David explained his uneasy feeling about the woman, and how he wanted to know why she wanted in, who did she want revenge against.
The third gentleman at the table laughed at David’s comment as he gathered the cards and began to shake them. “You sure it was your gut you were feeling?” he joked getting laughs even from Cahal as David rolled his eyes. David adjusted his hat before waving a good bye to the fellas as he walked by the bar, throwing his cash down and leaving the club for now. Hailing a taxi outside David headed home, his day was done the mysterious Lucia Pisano had unsettled his gut enough that he needed a night off for himself.
A large banging came against the door of the apartment the morning which matched a slight pounding in his head as he sat up in bed. His hair ruffled and with nothing but his underpants on he crawled out of bed and reached for the closest robe. Looking to the window light was shinning in making his squint his eyes and groan as the knocking started again making him shout a ‘coming’ before cringing slightly at the sound of his own loud voice. It had appeared that he had one too many drinks when coming home the night before. Making it out of the bedroom and to the door, David checked the eyehole before opening the door for Mario to come in, looking clean and fresh in his three piece suit and a cigar hanging from his mouth. “Jesus David! Didn’t your mother teach you how to dress yourself,” Mario stated walking into the room allowing David to close the door and run a hand threw his hair half flattening it. “Now come on, we gotta go meet that jewel you found last night,” Mario continued on going over to where David stored his liqueur pouring two glasses, handing one to David.
“Why you here so early,” David finally spoke as he took the shot of whiskey and passed the glass back to Mario, nothing fixed the morning blue like a little hair of the dog.
As David walked back to his room to change Mario began to open curtains in the living room laughing. “This is why you ain’t working for the boss yet,” Mario laughed as David began to change into a three piece suit himself. “You said you had funny feelin’ about her… I trust your gut, so… we go check her out a little early, watch the place,” Mario explained his thinking before drinking from the second drink her poured and going to the kitchen to look in the cupboards for something. “Jesus… what the hell do you eat around her,” Mario complained as David smirked while rolling his eyes. “Anyway… we’ll see if she comes alone or not, stuff like that I’m dragging you along to teach you… you wanna be working for the man don’t you? It’s got nice benefits.” Mario coached a grin in his voice as he explained the last end. After a few minutes David emerged looking as well as he did the night before, his suit looked clean and crisp, his tie, tied perfectly, a gun hidden under his jacket while a fedora covered his neatly combed and gelled hair. Yes a business man he looked like, maybe that’s what mamma really wanted him to be. Mario smiled at David and nodded, “There’s my man now… eat this,” he said passing David some kind of sandwich making David take it while raising an eyebrow.
“What is it?” David asked as he noticed some egg in between the toasted bread, still unsure if it was truly edible.
“I unno… it was stuff I found in your kitchen,” Mario answered honestly as he ushered himself and David out of the apartment.
“Then I don’t trust it,” David admitted looking at Mario and then the sandwich opening it up slightly to take a look inside.
Mario laughed slapping David on the back and completely out the door allowing it to be shut. “Just eat! God… you’re like the little brother I never had… you’re a full time job, I swear!” Mario went on as they left for the range. David reluctantly ate while on the road taking Mario’s car and getting there earlier then the time they told Lucia, staying seated in the parking lot able to watch the door and for her to come in. Sitting there things would be quite for the most part with light chit chat and smoking of cigars. “You know… boss is looking for another wing man… he’s noticed you too,” Mario nudged the subject making David shrug slightly. He didn’t care, as long as he wasn’t being noticed for bad reasons he was good. “If we could get you doing something big… prove your worth beyond a shadow, you got a good chance,” Mario pushed further on.
“Yeah well… I guess,” David shrugged off, yet the idea of a higher position did sound nice, no man would turn it down, never turn down the chance of getting closer to the boss… it could save you later down the road. Just than the woman could be seen where David nodded off towards her, “That’s the doll-face there,” David pointed out to Mario who smiled and whistled as they watched her walk in to the place but not moving when she finally walked in. “She seems to be by herself,” David pointed out getting a nod from Mario before the two of them exited the car.
“We could certainly find a position for her,” Mario commented simply while shrugging, but David shook his head. The woman clearly didn’t want that position, she had already made that pretty clear. “Ah… we’ll see if she can shoot, you can be the judge, your punches suck but you’re the one to call for shooting,” Mario pushed on throwing the end of his cigar out in a bucket as they walked into the place. Walking in the men there gave their hello’s to both Nick and Mario but allowing them threw to the range itself. Looking at the stalls Lucia was down towards the end her gun already out taking her stands and aiming, not firing yet. David watched her and was actually rather surprised… she at least knew how to hold the gun, and by the look of it be able to aim it well. It wasn’t like most people to be able to walk in being able to hold a gun so well, especially a woman… she had practice, which was even stranger to David kicking his gut into action. “Ah… Miss Pisano, you’re here,” Mario greeted on his way over to the stand a smile brightly lit on his face as he looked the woman up and down. “My names Mario Russo, and this is my associate David Mancini, David has come to me expressing interest in our business,” Mario briefly explained but still getting to the point. “David here has convinced me in coming to watch you and see if your skills will be an asset or not,” Mario explained giving David more credit than he wanted to be known for. “So… what do you got?” Mario finished off allowing David just to stand there being quiet and observing, doing his job in saying if she was truly a good shot or not.

Waiting and practicing was unnerving her. She hated to just stand there, and point at random targets, especially ones that didn't move. The last thing she wanted was to be stood up by a bunch of mafia thugs, but even she knew that wouldn't happen. So why was it that she had this strange feeling? It was almost as though someone besides those thugs outside the door were watching her. She didn't like it in the least bit. The girl only shrugged and played with her hair for a moment, noting that it was in her line of vision. Should she really want to impress them it would be best to get it out of her face.
She tied up her hair into a messy ponytail, though it rather suited the woman. Her bright complexion was easy to spot in the daylight, and showed that she didn't wear much make-up other than eyeliner and mascara. Though in all truth the woman wasn't trying to dress and impress at the moment. She just wanted to shoot something, actually, someone. All Evelyn had to do was get in to the gang and get closer to the boss. Sugar up to him and maybe get him to confide in her. Women were always good at that, but surely they had caught onto that by now.
Many of her friends in the past had tried to get into the mafia. They never did make it long. A day after and they had to change their name and what not. She would be lucky if that never happened to her. Though the men were more suspicious of their own gender, she came to find that they were also suspicious about the women that ran through their little business. If she played her cards right than maybe the boss wouldn't suspect her. If she wanted to do that it meant playing the part.
Which in her case wasn't hard at all since her personality was naturally independent. Soon enough she spotted two men walking towards the area. She still held her gun at a target, but her bright brown eyes were watching them. She noticed one of the men, it was David. The other one though she didn't recognize. Maybe one of the more prominent head figures? The woman could only assume so since he looked much more nicely dressed than David did.
She looked the men up and down as they walked over to her, the one whom she didn't know smiling at her. She smiled back as he introduced himself as Mario Russo. The woman had never heard of him, but she assumed he was one of the leaders of the many sections. He was practically praising David, which only made her raise an eyebrow. "He took that much of an interest in me? I'm flattered." Her smile moved towards David, but her eyes hardened at the sight of him. The woman made it that more obvious that she didn't like the man.
Turning her attention away from David she looked back towards Mario. These men were giving her next to no credit and a part of her wondered what exactly was said about her. Maybe that she was trouble, or something along those lines but other than that she wasn't quite sure what they could have possibly said. That was when he asked what she could do for the mafia. "Well, considering we're in a shooting range you tell me?" Most likely the worst reply in the world, but she wasn't in the mood to deal with them.
All she wanted was to get in and get this mission over and done with. If only it were that simple. Sadly nothing was simple when it came to the police and the mafia. "But I assure you that I can shoot better than any of the men you already have." And she wasn't all talk. It wouldn't surprise her if she could shoot better than most of the men in there. It was the fact that she had training and well, she was just unnaturally prideful.

David kept his mouth shut as Mario mentioned that David vouched for Lucia, and kept his mouth shut with a tighter grip as the woman looked over to with a flattery in her voice but hardness in her eyes. Oh yes, David did not like this dame what so ever. Yet there was the spunk that he liked about her… in some ways, Mario chuckled when she was sarcastic to him, while David was too busy thinking he would have liked her better if she was a man. Yet when Lucia mentioned that she was a better shot then any of his men that’s when Mario smiled and David couldn’t help but smile and look away. Yeah right, no, she was not better than him, shooting was his forte, shooting and his gut. To not completely lose it in laughter David moved to the other side of Lucia and took a good glance at her pistol, it was suitable for her body type. Not a heavy thing that she would get tired of holding but still could give a pretty good kick back.
“Well… better than our men is something… we have some fine men,” Mario explained as David still stood on the other side of her. “So… quit shooting the breeze and start shooting the target,” Mario asked her. Standing there they watched as she lined up and the few shots towards the target, still being able to see where they landed. Mario smiled watching where they landed if not in the center damn close to it, the woman had talent in his opinion, David mean while watched her form the way she held the gun, the way she managed to keep both eyes open while shooting. David hated to admit it but the woman was good, very good with signs of years of practice by the looks of it, practice and training. “Impressive,” Mario commented a soft smile dancing on his lips, “David?”
“She’s good,” David was blunt not wanting to give the woman praise, not wanting to make it sound like he appreciated the talent. “Still not better than the best,” David would add for his own benefit getting a chuckle from Mario.
“Ah yes… but close,” Mario would praise the woman instead making David roll his eyes slightly. “How are your other skills? And better question, what’s your payment and why’d you come to us?” Mario asked getting some basics down for information of the woman but David didn’t like the look in Mario’s eyes. It was like Mario was coming up with an idea at that moment, an idea that really it didn’t matter too much how Lucia was going to answer the questions she was still going to get a spot.

Finally it was time for her to show off her skills. She aimed her gun with precision, hitting the targets without breaking a sweat. If not the dead center she was close to it. The woman frowned slightly at the sight of which ones she didn't hit dead center in. Better at her own training grounds than here, but still it was good enough. They praised her, or rather Mario did. David on the other hand looked annoyed, but that only made Evelyn grin. Oh how she loved irritating people she couldn't stand.
After a moment they were talking about, asking her motives, the pay, and anything else she might want to add. What else could she do? There were so many things, but she decided to keep most to herself. Better they knew little about her than a lot. "I'm fairly good at hand to hand combat, but other than that I have nothing else to offer." She only turned towards the men, placing her free hand on her hip as she thought about pay. Now that was one thing she never really thought about.
Obviously they would pay her, but did she really need the money? "Anything you're willing to pay is fine with me. My motives for joining are quite simple. I want revenge. A bunch of cops killed my parents all because they were Italian immigrants. No one would help me so I figured the mafia would." She informed them, already having a whole back story to it if need be. She had memorized everything that was in those papers, even making stuff up in case she didn't like what was said in the made up biography.
In the papers her parents were rich immigrants, but to better make the mafia accept her she was willing to make them poor immigrants who had recently moved from Italy. From there her mother didn't have anything to do but work in a factory along with her father. The cops got mad at the Italian mafia, thought they were a part of it, and boom they were dead. Evelyn figured that was a good enough sob story for them to pick up on. If not than she was screwed. "Well? Am I in or am I not?"
It wasn't that she was really getting impatient, rather she was getting anxious. It played off as impatience mainly because that was how she was aiming this made up person's personality to be. If she really wanted to get anywhere in the mafia she had to be strong. Most women were prostitutes, and no doubt she would be the rare one that was an actual crew member. In order to keep her position she would have to go through challenges, and just thinking about it made Evelyn want to hit her head on a wall. Instead she glared towards the two impatiently, her foot tapping against the cement as she waited.

David stood there listening to her sad story, yeah it was sad but there were pliantly of them like that out there, a lot of people playing the same song, it got old fast. Yet Mario still seemed interested and that look wasn’t a good one as far as David was concerned, actually it was a dangerous one. “Well… we are all about family around here,” Mario said which made David look at him in a slight horror, oh no he wasn’t, oh no he couldn’t. David brought up his fist to his mouth and gave a tight cough which managed to snap back Mario to look at David where the spoke silently for a moment. “Excuse us for a moment,” Mario answered looking over to Lucia for a moment as the two of them walked down wind far enough that Lucia couldn’t hear them. “Did you have input on this?” Mario asked.
“You can’t agree to this,” David said bluntly making Mario raise an eyebrow. “She’s good, yes, but she’s too good. She’s got way better form then any dame should have walkin’ off of the street, somthin’s not right here Mario, my guts acting up something real feares.” David announced his fears of the idea, his honest opines about the idea.
Mario smiled and shook his head, “I don’t care where she learned to shoot, she’s good. Most men won’t know what hit them when she pulls the pistol out. She’ll be our little secret weapon,” Mario laughed out as if he has just struck a gold mine instead of a death trap that David saw it as. “Your guts just acting up because of what you ate, but just to show you I care I’ll make sure she’s put with one of the most trusted guys I know… alright?” Mario clarified with David making him feel slightly better, but only slightly. Taking it as it was, the two walked back over to the impatient woman where David felt annoyed, but Mario had a smile on his face. “I’ll work out the details with my boss but you’re more than welcomed into our family Miss Pisano, I think we’ll find your skills very useful,” Mario explained lightly and still a smile on his face.
“Now to make sure you learn the ropes well, I’m putting you with my ace man, David here…” Mario hadn’t even finished the sentence and David wanted to go and throw a punch. Oh god, why him… why him… why did he have to be stuck with the dame. No, no it couldn’t have been happening. “… he’s the best man we got. He’ll be your supervisor and reports directly to me and the boss. You’ll be on a… probation for the next while but… with David you’ve got no worries.” Mario finished off reaching forward to shake Lucia’s hand in a proper welcome, still all smiles while David gave that half forced grin fantasising about pulling his gun out on Mario at the moment. “Now David… make sure you go do that pick up and delivery we need done today… see you tonight at Jimmy’s?” Mario clarified with David smiling, “Teach her the basics,” Mario added as he walked away.
“Jimmy’s at seven… gottcha!” David said giving a forced smile watching Mario walk away and out of sight before he went and looked at Lucia his eyes cold stone. “Let’s get one thing straight,” David said looking at the woman dead in the eye. It was in seconds that it happened but David pulled out the gun he was fantasising about doing moments early and quickly took his shot at the five targets, hitting each one in the split seconds that it took him to do that. “You ain’t ever going to be better than me, got it Doll Face?” David said annoyed as he placed his gun back in his sling only taking a few seconds to look back at the targets, each one having a bullet hole in the centers. It was one of his best ways to blow off steam, and at that moment he had a lot that needed to be blown off. “Now come on… we gotta head back to my place to pick up something,” David mumbled walking by her hoping there would be a cab to catch.

The two went off to talk about whether she should join or not and the woman could only watch them go. Hopefully they would accept her, but she had the strange feeling that this was going to be a disaster. The woman sighed, looking down at her pistol. If it came to it she could just shoot them down, maybe even fight her way through it without the gun. Either way she would need to act fast if they had caught on to how well she used the gun. The risk she took was unneeded, at least her boss would tell her that. No doubt he would be angry, but she didn't want to be a prostitute. Just thinking about it pissed her off.
Finally the two walked back, Mario smiling while David looked more than a bit annoyed. She only smiled back, crossing her fingers behind her back. So he had to speak with Giovanni first? It made sense, but she had accomplished what she came there to do. She was welcome and that was all that mattered at the moment. Evelyn wanted to go do a happy dance, but kept her excitement at bay. She could always talk to Allen about it, knowing full well the man would be just as excited. Now all she needed to do was gain their trust. Sure, it would take a few months, but it would be well worth it.
What she didn't expect was to be put under the care of David. She frowned slightly when she was told, but there was a problem she could always deal with. This must have been that troubled feeling she was getting. It was just miner set back, but one none the less. She only regarded David with a cold look before turning her attention back to Mario. She shook the man's hand, watching as he left. They apparently had something to do, which meant she was most likely going to witness her first crime.
Perfect! At least now she would have evidence of all that went on. With enough crimes to commit she would have all the evidence she needed in a proper trial. That or she could just shoot the boss dead and ordered reinforcements to deal with everyone else. Either way the whole committing a crime would come in handy. When Mario left David decided to stare her down, but she didn't look the least big scared. She only raised an eyebrow, a challenge showing clean and clear in her eyes.
The man had raised his gun and shot at the targets faster than she did, each hitting the center. Ah, so he was the best man. Goodness someone was bitchy about their spot being taken over. "Chill. I haven't done s**t to you hun, so I suggest you clean up your attitude." She replied, allowing her real personalty to rise up. "I've got a name, so quit calling me doll face." Gods she hated being called that! Already she could tell it was either he was going to kill her or it would be the other way around.
Sighing she only rolled her eyes as he walked past her, saying something about stopping at his place. She stuffed her gun in her pants belt and followed behind him, crossing her arms over her chest. Well there went all her happiness for the day.

Ha! The woman hadn’t done s**t to him? Right! She’d done plenty already. First she walked into a club acting like she owned the place, shouting names that were supposed to be shouted, and with David there who had to clean up the mess? He did, that was right he had to figure out what the woman wanted. Then because he didn’t have enough of a spine to tell her no after that, he went and set up an appointment with Mario where Mario the idiot accepted her… oh yes, the woman had done plenty to him, and women were trouble, just trouble. David rubbed his temp as he walked outside and too the street making sure that Lucia was in fact there beside him. “I ain’t got an attitude problem hunny,” David went on saying as he took the minute to do a sharp whistle to get the attention of a taxi drive on the other side of the street dropping of the passenger. “It’s called high blood pressure,” David finished off looking over to her before crossing the street, just barley checking to make sure the path was clear.
Going over he got into the cab and would wait till Lucia joined the cab before he told the driver the address of his own place and sat back in the set searching for a smoke inside his jacket and pulled it out. It wasn’t as good as a drink at the moment which he really needed but it would have to do for now. Clipping the end and throwing it out of the window he went to work lighting the cigar and placing it in his mouth. “And I know you have a name, everyone had a name, why would you like it better if I called you Pisano… doll face?” David asked giving a slight smirk as he looked over to Lucia, it was one of those smirks that if the woman wasn’t so annoyed by the man she may have found cute or charming. That however wasn’t David’s intentions, Lucia was making David crazy… he could do the same, poetic justice in his mind. David took a big in hale of the smooth cigar as he sunk back in the seat trying to relax himself, he still did have a job to do that day after all.
Once David was calm enough that his mind wasn’t so focused on trying out how to get Mario back they were finally at his place where David pulled out cash and gave it to the driver plus a tip, mentioning to the guy he needed a new hat jokingly. It was once again, money he had that he didn’t need, he couldn’t take it with him when he went. Getting up and out of the car David signaled Lucia to cross the street with him where they went between an ally of a Chinese restaurant and a laundry mat, it was not the glamour part of town, in fact the steps at the back of the ally lead up above the Chinese place where once he was inside, he used a set of keys to get into the actual apartment. His apartment itself match something similar to the outside, the furniture was old but it would have been nice if new, things were fairly tidy but it was nothing glamorous by any means, still good enough for him. Opening the door he allowed it to stay open for Lucia to come in where he shrugged, “Don’t go lookin’ threw my stuff… got it?” David warned the girl as he threw the rest of his finished cigar in a glass dish by the door where a few other old ones sat. On the same table, he pulled out a drawer that was underneath and pulled out car keys for his car out back.
Leaving Lucia out in the main open concept David moved to his own room, “So… where you from on the Homeland?” David asked shouting from the other room, trying to be half interested in her story and see if he could actually figure out why she was there, plus it would allow David to hear if she was moving about the room by the way her voice moved. Going over to the one corner of his room David kneed down and started at his own personal safe and pulled out a large envelope and then closed up the safe again before returning to the living room.
