Maria chuckled and shook his hand. Respectful, that earned him a few points already. "I've heard a lot about you from Hitoki and Titanya, it's nice to finally meet you."

Tanya smiled when she saw him, too. He looked great, and the flowers were such a cute gesture, too. She took them with a smile. "They're lovely, thank you." She kissed his cheek, a chaste enough action to be considered acceptable in front of her family. Of course, Hideki wasn't here, so that helped.

"Aww, you two look so cute," Maria cooed as she walked over and hugged the two of them. Tanya blushed in embarassment and looked away. "Mother!"

Maria smiled devilishly as she let them go. "You didn't think I'd let you go without making this awkward, did you? Sorry sweetheart, it's part of the parent code." She took a step back and looked at them. "Now for my not-so-serious 'serious talk'."

Tanya groaned and rested her face in her hand. This was not happening.

"I'll keep this short and to the point. I really don't care what you do, but my husband does, so please, please don't do anything stupid. Don't set anything on fire, vandalize important landmarks, get arrested or anything else that could get you into trouble. Be safe, smart responsible, et cetera, and you--" She pointed to Tanya "--have a curfew, Miss. You know what it is, be home by it."

"Yes, Mother."

Maria smiled and nodded, taking the flowers from Tanya. "I'll find a vase for these," she said as she left the room.

Tanya took a deep breath and shook her head. "That's my mother," she said with a forced smile. "Just lives to embarass me; love her to bits."

((Attack of the awkwardness!))

The awkwardness was rising, Tanya's mom was really weird, well at least compared to Mrs. Nakamura or Kiyo's mom, it was probably because she was much younger. He blushed a little when she hugged both of them, she seemed to like him and that was a good thing.

But things started to get less serious when she claimed that she couldn't let this pass without making awkward, he had to put a lot of effort to keep a straight face while she gave them advice, she was so extreme.
"What is she talking about?" he thought "if I did any of those I might end up dead before getting arrested."

"Sure thing, ma'am." he said with a wide smile, the whole thing was really awkward.
When Tanya talked about her, he held her hand and smiled gently
"She's different, but at least she's honest about it, she knows it makes you feel awkward. I guess we better get going." he told her as he headed to the door. "What's that curfew about anyway?" he asked with a quieter voice. There was no real curfew in his place, being kicked out for the night depended solely on family moods, but he knew it wouldn't happen as long as Hitoki was around.

[[I love Tanya's hair, and Maria seems so kind, although she really made things awkward.]]

Tanya smiled and shook her head. She held his hand and smiled at him. "She exaggerates things a lot to hide the subtler points. The main thing she wanted us to get out of that was 'have fun but don't be stupid'. I'm just glad my stepdad's not home; he would've given us a more-than-serious serious talk. He's pretty proctective." She shrugged as she walked over to the table where she'd left her coat and purse. "I have a curfew because my parents like having me home for the night, nothing more to it than that, really. They'd prefer it if they weren't wondering where I was. Curfew's midnight, by the way. Not too extreme, more of a formality, actually. They won't be mad at me unless it's later than 12:30 when I get home." She paused at the door. "Love you, Mom!" she called out.

Maria poked her head in the doorway. "Love you, too, dear. Be safe, have fun." She gave them a wave as they walked out the door, walking over so she could lock the door behind them.

"Midnight? That's not a big deal, I guess" he said shrugging as they walked out, he opened the car door for her. This was the car that usually came to pick him up, but the driver wasn't there. Takeshi has always compared him to a warden, but he was a warden easy to bribe.

The drive wasn't really long, but drives in this town were never long. The restaurant he took her to was in a quiet area, away from the popular center with it's mall and noisy night life. The place had a mature and romantic feel to it, with pretty ambient lighting and flowers at every table. A waiter guided them to their table, one with the best view. In a corner there was a pianist on a sort of stage playing the ambient music to the scene, but the place wasn't really that formal.

He waited for her to take a seat and then sat down in front of her, placing his hands on the table in a way that suggested that he wanted her to hold them.
"I guess we can call this our first date then, I always thought this would happen first, but nothing is really normal about us" he said with a small smile, he wasn't sure how that date thing went, but it seemed they would have dinner together and then see what they want to do, he didn't expect the curfew to be so late, but that gave him a nice feeling. Deep inside, he wanted to spend the whole night with her.

Tanya couldn't help but smile at how gentlemanly he was being. And people thought chivalry was dead. Although, it depended on how you viewed chivalry in the first place; many people liked to compare it to chauvinism. Tanya wasn't one of those--while independent for the most part, she would always appreciate a gentleman.

The restaurant he took her to wasn't unfamiliar to her. She'd been here a few times with her parents, a few more by herself. It was certainly different during the evening, though. During the afternoon--when Tanya came most of the time--the atmosphere was less romantic and more relaxed. She knew one of the pianists here; he'd been playing here for years, apparently, and he played well. George was more of a jazz pianist, which was why he was usually there in the afternoon--a quieter time where less demanding customers were around--as opposed to evenings. Still, the current pianist was doing a good job, too.

When they sat at their table, Tanya had to admit Takeshi had really done a great job so far. He really didn't have to try so hard to impress her, but the fact that he did anyway made her feel that much more special.

She took his hands with a smile and chuckled at his comment. "Normality is overrated. If I were concerned about being normal, I wouldn't look like a cherry-themed time capsule." Tanya was loving this outfit, though. It was classic, but still fun and flirty. If she ever wore it to school, she'd probably see a lot of girls in the younger grades trying to emulate it. Tanya usually opted for simple and comfortable when it came to school, though. Most people would tell you that if you really wanted to see her style, then you'd go to a party with her.

Tanya didn't really have a specific style, but most of the time she'd be described as eccentric, but not extreme. She took a lot of inspiration from retro styles, finding ways to integrate it with modern pieces. There was also her thing for peacocks, which she found ways to use in her outfits (as she had the day she met Takeshi).

She couldn't help but wonder what he had planned for the rest of the night. Honestly, they could just sit in the park and stargaze and she'd love it. She wasn't hard to please. The fact that he'd already put so much effort into dinner was enough for her.

Things weren't really as awkward as he thought they would be, since Tanya was already close, there weren't really any formalities but he really seemed like such a gentleman, acting elegant and quite polite. For only a moment he wished Dr. Nakamura would see him, he'd be so happy, or at least Takeshi thought he would.

During the whole thing he had avoided talking about his old friends, his previous school or anything that might seem unpleasant, which was a lot of effort but he did it with a lot of passion. He looked at the pianist and then looked at her
"We should play together some time, I think it's a romantic thing, what piece would you like to play together?" he asked her, he had played for years and he was used to playing with someone which was usually his real brother and then Hitoki.

Halfway through the dinner, he asked her
"What would you like to do next?" he hadn't really planned anything big for after the dinner, he would just love to go to that emptier part of the park to just cuddle and stare at the stars with her, he had a thing for the sky, night or day, maybe it was because he loved freedom, or because they were just beautiful. He smiled at her "You really look stunning tonight, I didn't really expect that style." he said.

The nightwas going pretty well so far. The romantic atmosphere coupled with the fact that they were so natural together was making everything really enjoyable. When Takeshi asked what piece she'd liike to play, Tanya thought for a moment. "I don't really know any pieces that need two people. Well, there is one, but I don't know what it's called." She looked at him and smiled. "Maybe you should teach me one. I can read sheet music, but I always play better by ear."

When he asked her what she wanted to do next, Tanya smiled and glanced out the window. "Honestly, I I'd love to find a quiet, open place and just stargaze. It's such a clear night, and it's not that cold, either. Of course, I'm open for other suggestions, too."

She blushed a little when he complimented her. Well, she did promise to look twice as stunning for him; she was glad she delivered. "Thank you. You look great, too. As for my style, I don't really have one, but I guess I take lots of inspiration from the different fads of the 50s to the 90s. Typically I don't do much with the 90s. I do love the 80s, though, I don't even know how many pairs of legwarmers I have. I love the 50s and 60s, too. The 70s don't have much for me either, but, retro looks are definitely something I enjoy."

Takeshi smiled, he knew a lot of things two can play together and was very glad to teach her "Sure, I'd love to, I love playing pieces that need two, it really feels intimate. What is something that you like to do with someone?" he asked, there were a lot of things he liked to do with someone, like going to the movies or the beach, he wasn't really a people's person, but he liked being around people who were close to him, it felt warm and secure.

When Tanya mentioned stargazing his heart fluttered, he wanted to do the same thing, he thought about the blanket in the car trunk, they could spread it to lie on the ground and gaze at the stars all night long or at least until the time she has to go home, she could notice him drift off a bit, when he thought if they would make out for the first time that night.
"That's a great idea, I'd like to do that, we could go to that park, no one would probably be there." he said as he snapped out of it.

Her talk about her style made him think of what he wears, he blindly emulates his real brother most of the time
"I guess I dress like that because I miss my brother, he used to dress like that too. it kind of makes me feel he's around when I see him in the mirror." he said looking down at the ring in his hand. It was only on rare occasions that he dressed differently, mostly when he was in a bad mood and didn't feel like he wanted to be all stung up in tight clothing. He wondered if she had any siblings that she doesn't see anymore, but didn't ask about it, it wasn't the right time at all.

"I love performing with people, especially when it comes to music." she told him. "There's just something about how connected you feel to the people you perform with. Then there are harmonies, which are my favourite part of singing with other people. Taking the vocal strengths of several people and creating one beautiful sound--there's almost something spiritual about it."

She noticed Takeshi daydreaming as she mentioned stargazing, and she was glad that he seemed to approve of the idea. When he mentioned heading to the park, Tanya wondered if he'd been thinking of it before she'd mentioned it. It would be so romantic, she couldn't help but think. They'd cuddle up underneath an indigo sky, looking at the stars, pointing out constellations, talking and enjoying each other's company. They'd kiss, most likely more than once, and if it got a bit more passionate, Tanya really wouldn't mind.

She listened as he talked about his brother, wondering what he would've been like. "Sometimes I wish I'd grown up with siblings. Mom didn't start dating Hideki until I was around 9 or so, so by then I was used to having her to myself. I think a sibling might've helped with that. I probably would've warmed up to Jay a lot faster, too. I hated the idea of having a sibling suddenly thrust upon me when I'd been an only child my whole life. It's really different now, though; Jay and I can't even call ourselves stepsiblings, we're brother and sister."
