“Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange..."

Name: Aster Faust
Race: Human
Age: 18
Height: 62
Hair: Black w/ a Purple Tint
Eyes: Red
Orientation: Straight
Personality: Egotistical to a high degree, however very noble to the ones he calls close. Many see him as a jerk on first impression; however, given the time, hes a good friend to have.

Bio: Born to two parents who were both prestigious scientists, Aster grew up with a natural love for the mysteries of the world. His science background gave him a desire to question and experiment with the physical world. As a result, his alchemy was outstanding, much higher than a child of his age. Due to this, he became a state alchemist at the age of 14. With time, his experimenting stretched to greater lengths and he began to test the human body, particularly his own. As a result of an experiment, his inner system was altered, resulting in his body aging at a slower pace. Because of this attempt at forbidden human alchemy, he was stripped of his State Alchemist title. He now lives only to learn more of the world and, one day, understand its many mysteries. From constant reading, he has learned many types of alchemy, but places his focus on one.

Alchemy Info:

NAME: The Shade Alchemist

DATA: Shadow Alchemy is completely contingent upon the attack that is used. Low caliber attacks such as hardening shadows into blades or small walls do not consume as much strength as contorting shadows into large walls or giving his own shadow life.

The angels never arrived,

Anelia stood in front of one of the hundreds of bookcases in the Central Library glaring at it. All the books in the library and they didn't have a single one that explained how to properly control fire alchemy. She sighed and sat down on the ground with a loud thump. Honestly, Mustang wanted her to learn how to get over her fear of fire alchemy but he really wasn't being any help. She looked around the library at all the people working. Some where doing research on certain cases while others where trying to better their skills she looked around and noticed someone who didn't quite belong. His black hair was unkempt and he wasn't in a uniform. Who was he?

But I can hear the choir.

As Aster looked around the main room of the library, it seemed no one had taken notice to his presence. 'Perfect...' he thought, scanning the bookshelves for the empty spot, trying to replace a book he had taken earlier. It was always easy to steal a book or two from Central's library; the guard on librarian duty wouldn't catch him, he had been doing this for quite some time after all. The books always found their way back to the shelves; stealing them forever would only result in tighter security, something he just found as a nuisance.

"Let's see, there you are..." he whispered to himself upon finding the open space. He carefully placed the book back and took a few steps away from the shelf, inspecting it. All the books were replaced as they were before. Once again, no one would notice; they never did. Glancing back up at the window through which he had entered, he prepared to climb back out; however, he had the feeling someone, something was watching him. His deep red eyes scanned the room once more, not finding anything out of the ordinary...besides a girl. Had she taken notice? She glanced his way, but he doubted she payed him mind. It didn't matter anyway, he could escape if need be. Turning away now, he began to walk into the the maze of Reference Section bookshelves before him, assuring that he wouldn't be followed. The lighting was poor; no one ever visited that area anyway.

The angels never arrived,

Anelia watched the man for a bit before deciding to try and follow him. He obviously didn't belong and she was going to make sure she figured out why he was there. She began to walk behind him as he headed into the dimly lit reference section. She would make sure she talked to the librarian about getting the lights in this area fixed. She walked quietly behind him before walking quicker. "Stop. Who are you?" She cried out. She gripped her pocket watch before transmuting a Kursarigama from the ground. She rapped the chain tightly around her wrist so that if she had to throw it, it wouldn't mess anything up to bad. Thats all she needed to deal with from Mustang. If she screwed anything up it would come out of her research money plus it would result in long lecture from Mustang and a disapproving head shake from Hawkeye. Even though she had been a state alchemist for two years she still hated it when Hawkeye gave her the disapproving head shake. She looked up to her and that just made her feel horrible. She wanted to be as brave and patient as Hawkeye. She always wondered how she was able to stand being around Mustang all the time. Some of the stuff he did made Anelia wonder. She shook her head and refocused on what she was doing.

After turning the corner, he heard the girl call out to him. It made him smirk; as if he was going to listen to her... He just had to get out now, an easy job. He had always been able to think under pressure, so situations like these were no bother to him.. especially with the help of his ability. Now in the dim-light, Aster walked behind some other bookshelves nearest to the wall and examined the area quickly. The girl was on his trail, so the best option would be to hide. Moving further could possibly bring about more attention, something he definitely did not need in a place like this. His eyes caught a corner in the shade of the light, giving him an idea. He leaned against the wall and clapped silently, placing his palm to his chest. In an instant, his body merged with the shadows, rendering him invisible as long as the shadows remained there. It was a trick he had learned in this very library during one of his vast studies of alchemy mixing, something Roy had found...disapproving...

Now, waiting for his pursuant to follow his trail, he found himself reminiscing. It made him smile; did he honestly miss this place? No way, just the books... just the books. He shook his head clean of the thoughts and focused again; after all, he wanted a closer view of who was following him.

The angels never arrived,

Anelia continued to follow the person. She held tightly onto her weapon. When she turned the corner she found that she was alone. He was gone. She continued to look around and walk ahead. "Crap this isn't good." She gripped her weapon tightly. "Roy will kill me if he finds out about this." She walked past the area where he was hiding and stopped right in front of it.She turned around and faced the area where he was. She looked around carefully. Her green eyes searched the area and her blonde hair blew in the light breeze. "I know you haven't left the building I can sense it." She lowered to the ground and used her alchemy to make the Kursarigama disappear. "I've put down my weapon. Now come out" She turned and allowed her back to face the shadow.

The fact she could sense him was interesting; there where few others in the room so singling him out was impressive. Still, it would be near impossible to exactly locate him, his training made sure of that. Seeing as she put away her weapon, he remained unseen in the shadows, but whispered to her in a soft voice. "Shut up... this is a library... You don't want to attract attention, do you?"

The angels never arrived,

Anelia jumped around and looked. She could here a voice. Where was it coming from. "Where are you coming out." Her look tightened and she glared around her. "This library is off limits to civilians. You will have to pass the alchemy exams like the rest of us. Now come out! I demand you!" She walked a little ways forward before stopping and looking around some more.

Hearing her say he'd have to pass the alchemy exam made him laugh; who was this girl to tell him anything. He thought he might have some fun with her before he left, just to mess with her. The voice began to change directions as he spoke, coming from all sides around her. "I've been an alchemist for a long time... Dogs like you have no place telling me what I can do... Things like that'll get you killed, child."

The angels never arrived,

Anelia looked around as the voice began to shift. "I am more than a mere dog. I am a wolf of the military. I am Anelia Jangsten and I am the Elemental Alchemist. I can control any element and use it to my advantage. Now show yourself." She looked around the room her hands tensed a bit as she held onto her pocket watch. She was ready to go at anytime. Her other hand hovered over the gun she always carried just in case. "Show yourself, I do not wish to harm you or the books of this library. My boss would be less than pleased with me if I destroyed anything."

But I can hear the choir.

"Anelia Jangsten- the elemental alchemist.... that's cute." He stepped out of the shadows toward her, making himself visible, and leaned against a bookshelf, eyes closed and arms folded. His voice was calm and soft, almost whisper-like. "No one here has even begun to scratch the surface of alchemy... Sure you can bend the tangible world, but what about the things you can't see? What about rearranging the structure of your own body?....of course not, that's forbidden. You let a coward like Mustang lead you and call your shots... It's so sad."
