Nicole wasn't sure how long she had walked for... all she knew was that she hadn't had a battle or any kind of incounter for quite a while, which she was thankful for. Day in and day out she has had nothing but battles and wanted a nice time to rest. Taking a deep breath, the young woman knew that they wanted her back... that they wanted her back to command the army.

But she knew, that she can't go back. There was no way that she would ever go back to being the cold and heartless woman she once was... even if it was only a spell, she hated it and felt horrible for the things she has done in the past.

Looking up at the sky, Nicole wondered if she would ever be forgiven for her past mistakes... "Maybe not'..." she whispered to herself only to run a hand through her long hair and kept on walking through the forest. Only to turn to the side, smelling a demon coming to her... she just couldn't get a break could she? Grabbing her sword, the young woman got ready to fight, but... there was one thing that she couldn't stop... a blast of energy that she couldn't jump... couldn't duck... or slice through.

the attack had hit her, pushing her into the river and caused her to wash away... the only sound from the source of the attack was a curse, saying that he had 'missed his chance' to grab the woman... he'll have to find her once more... though... maybe Nicole had just given up too easily into the attack... Maybe she did...

Renji 'Ren' Kusanagi

Ren had taken a break after a long day of battling. He was sitting down by the river watching the water flow. It was a rather peaceful sound it always seemed to help him relax as well. He scooped some water up to drink as well as he then took out a small scrap of cloth and began to wipe off some blood that had splattered onto him from his kills. He had a small campsite just for him set up near the river. Ren did not like to converse with the others unless it was time for battle. Though he was merely a solider they did respect his desires since he was their most effect weapon. Or so that is how it seemed. With his use of fire as well as being a Hell Hound he could easily snuff out and sniff out hideouts and rebel invaders. And besides he was more of a mad man out on the battlefield that no one dared to try and make him made for fear he would turn his weapon upon them.

After he had cleaned himself he was about to head to his tent for the night when he noticed something floating in the water. He waded through and saw a woman unconscious and seemed to be hurt as well. Noticing the ears and tail he could tell she had some wolf in her. Though she was freshly cleaned thanks to the water he could still smell the stench of battle on her. "Well little one lets at least get you out of the water and tended to.",she said as he picked her with a rather ease to his motions as he waded through the water once more and carrying her he laid her down on the bank. He checked her vitals as well as started a bit of first aid CPR,he was not sure if she had swallowed any water so this was only done as a precaution.

She didn't know how long she had been out for... her body was cold and feltl ike she was getting colder and colder as time went by... Nicole thought that this was the end for her, thinking that she was going to join the others that she had killed... But, one thing had surprised her...

She felt a strange warmth...

It was something that Nicole hadn't expected, the young woman thought that she had felt someone holding her... that someone was picking her out of the cold stream that she knew had been washing her body away. Groaning softly, she wondered why she felt pressure on her stomach... before she knew it, she started to cough out water, trying to gasp for air to refill her burning lungs... damn why did it hurt so much?

Weakly looking around, Nicole looked up and saw a man... he had red hair... she could faintly smell something like sulfer and the scent of blaze... she had never smelt this mixture before... why was that? She had smelt the scent of every breed known to this world and... yet she didn't know what he was. Nicole pushed herself up, though she was dizzy for she had gotten up a little too soon, she fell back down and tirdly looked up at him. "Who... are you?" She said in a faint whisper.

Ren was relieved that she started to cough up water and started to try and take in some breaths. When she began to stir a bit more and even sit up he was there to catch her as she fell back down. "Whoa there young one. You shouldnt try and move just yet.",his voice was soft and kind. He gently laid her down against the ground. "I am Ren. I just fished you out of the river? And who might you be?" He took off his over coat and folded it up like a pillow. Gently raising her head and then moving it under her head as he let her head rest against it. "Are you hungry or thirsty?" He had a pot of stew over the small fire as well as some fresh drinking water in a tall canteen. He moved over towards the fire and began to pout out two bowls of the soup and then setting them down beside her as he grabbed the canteen. "Oh and are you hurting anwhere? I dont see any cuts just some small scrapes covering some of the arms and legs. Which we will get hem attended to in a moment. First you should get something inside you to warm you up. Would not want for you to catch your death."

~Nicole Night~

Looking up at him, she wondered why he wasn't fighting her... everyone else that she came across on her travels wanted to fight her but... he didn't... it was a bit of a nice change... Taking a deep breath, she whispered "my... my name is Nicole Night..." Normally, she wouldn't tell anyone her name, but her body was too weak to keep her defence up.

Looking around, she wondered how far she had traveled in the river... sure, she wasn't expecting to travel that way... Looking over at him, her ears twitched at the mention of food... her stomach growled loudly, showing that she hadn't had a decent meal in days... maybe almost a month at the least. "I... I would... love something to eat... thank you." She still looked really tired but was happy to have something to eat at the least. Slowly she sat up and leaned against the near by tree and happily started to eat.

As the young woman ate, Nicole wondered why Ren's name seemed familiar...

shrugging it off as nothing, she kept eating, and would sip some water now and again... Looking around, she saw that she was only in a camp meant for one... so, was this man alone? Finishing her meal, she leaned a little further back into the tree and sighed softly... her body was still weak... when he asked if she was hurt, she shook her head... her body was only sore, nothing broken or anything...

When she said her name it seemed that inside he knew or thought anyways knew who she was but he did not lead it on. "Well Miss Night it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He sat down and ate his supper as he watched her slowly eat. When she finished,"Are you still hungry because there is more left." He kept eating as he awaited her response. He had to admit she was alot cuter than the rumors made her out to be. Seeing that her clothes were still wet. "Hmm we need to do something about those as well.",he muttered as he finished his bowl,setting it down and then moving to his tent. Going inside he rummaged around a bit before returning with a long shirt and a slacks. "Here you can use these while your clothes dry." Setting them on the ground. "Dont worry i am a gentleman i promise not to peek." He turned around and sat on the ground as he waited for her to change. Though she was free to go into his tent and change as well. "Oh and it is heart warming to hear that you have no serious injuries."

Taking the clothes, the young woman went into the tent to change... it felt weird to change out in the open, even if he wasn't looking. As she disgarded of her wet clothes, she started to put on the shirt and shakles... But, what made her wonder was why he was being so nice to a stranger... was it because he was that nice? Or, was he after something? At the moment, she couldn't be sure but her mind was still tired... and needed a good long rest.

Once she was done changing, Nicole grabbed her wet clothes and hung them up on a tree branch to help get them to dry out. After that, she sat back down and asked for another bowl... she was still hungry and knew that she could at least eat three helpins in total... Looking up at him, she thought that he was handsome...

Blushing crimson, Nicole quickly shook her head to get that thought out of her mind. She shouldn't be thinking on how handsome a man was... she didn't deserve a man in her life... she didn't even deserve forgiveness... let alone someone to like her like that...

Once she was done Nicole yawned and lied down, curled up in a ball and drifted off to sleep.

Ren stayed turned around until she emerged from the tent and asked for another helping. He took the bowl and refilled it as many times as she wanted. Normally he would offer what was left to strangers and such but it was rather heartwarming to say the least to share the food with a woman as nice looking as Nicole. When she was finished eating he did the dishes and added some more wood to the fire. When he noticed Nicole curled up on the ground sleeping he went into his tent and grabbed a couple of blankets and placed one around her and used the other to wrap himself up. He figured that if she was going to be sleeping outside then he would as well to keep guard. There were some rather unsavory fellows in the troop and he felt that while she was his guest that it was his duty to keep her out of harms way. Though who knows by the morning he could be back on the field of battle and would have to say goodbye to her.

Nicole slept for what seemed like hours. Sighing softly, she curled up in a tighter ball, wondering why she felt warmer than she was used too. Blinking slowly, she opened her eyes slowly and noticed the blanket around her. Nuzzling a little deeper in the blanket, she went into a further sleep...

But wished that she had no dreams... But sadly, she did...

She heard screams... could feel people screaming for mercy to have their lives spared. But no matter what, their screams were silenced by her weapon... It just wouldn't stop... the feel of their blood staining her clothes, staining her sword... it was nothing but a hellish nightmare for her.

Whimpering softly in her sleep, Nicole quickly sat up covered in cold sweat as she looked around. Wiping her forehead, she got up and walked to the river to wash her face... she didn't know how long she would have to keep suffering from these nightmares... but hoped that they would stop... they were the reason why she was always tired...

Though Ren's eyes were closed he was still awake. He heard her tossing about and such but did not go over and help her since he thought it might frighten her. When Nicole had awoken and walked down to the river to splash some water on her face Ren opened his eyes. Walking over to her,his feet seeming to make no sound as we walked as she stood behind her. "Is everything alright Miss? It sounded like you were having some rather unpleasant thoughts or such invading your dreams." Ren then moved to sit down on the bank next to Nicole. "If you dont want to talk about it that is fine. I do not wish to make you feel uncomfortable and such. But i must ask,how did you come by floating with the rivers current?"

Nicole looked over at Ren and just stared for a moment before looking away. "Just some nightmares about my past is all." She whispered softly, not really wanting to talk about the nightmares anymore... it was bad enough to just have them. Sighing, Nicole ran a hand through her hair before leaning back against the bank.

When he asked her how she had ended up in the riber she calmly said "I was attacked by some random demon... Couldn't dodge a blast and was pushed into the river." That was all she could say... least not without giving away her idenity.

"Well this demon must be a pretty tricky one since it would seem that your body is built for agility and speed.",he said as he kept looking down at the running water of the river. He felt somewhat so calm around her like to him at the moment nothing else was there but the two of them. He had never really felt that way around anyone,well unless he was killing them. When he was engaged in battles that was all he could ever see was the people he was fighting. Placing his hands behind his head he laid back against the bank. Looking up at the stars. "So i would take it then that you too have a rather daunting past that wishes to keep you chained down." His eyes never waived from the sky as he noticed a star fallen. "Another person must have lost a loved one." Rens voice was soft almost like a whisper when he spoke about the star.

Looking over at him, Nicole wasn't sure what to say... Taking a deep breath she nodded softly to what he said... To how her body was built... to her past wanting to chain her down. No matter what she did it would always come back to haunt her. Rubbing her eyes, she wasn't sure what to do now.

Yawning, she looked over at Ren, wondering what he was talking about losing a loved one. All she knew, was that she wasn't going to ask. Fearing that if her question had been asked that ren would get upset. Taking a deep breath, Nicole looked up and stared at the stars...

Stars always helped her calm down...

Yawning, Nicole's eyes fluttered for a few moments. Soon enough, Nicole had drifted off to sleep once more... Her mind void of any and all dreams that dared to show itself.

Ren just laid there and when he thought she had no idea what he meant about the star he was going to tell her but hearing her sleeping he just smiled. Sitting up it seemed that the air had gotten even cooler,"I do hope you forgive me young one." His voice almost like a whisper again as he . picked her up and carried her into the tent. He could sense an ill chill to the wind. Something was afoot and he was not the type to let a woman be injured. Gently laying her down he went back out,dousing the fire and then grabbing the blankets and his sword. He covered her up and then sitting by the entrance to the tent he covered himself as well. Taking moments here and there to glance over at Nicoles sleeping form. He had to say his heart seemed to beat a bit faster whenever he snuck a glance.
