Welcome to Gaia! ::

Yes that 'eye of ifrit' looked amazing. Well crafted for being a jewel. Oddly it was all square shaped, and didn't really resemble a- oh wait that was the pedestal. It was a rookie mistake. No biggy, he'd just get the thing on top of the pedestal. That thing riiiiight there... wait, where is it? Walking closer to it Azel noticed that whatever he was looking for was missing. Blinking out of confusion he looked all over the pedestal, scratching his head in bewilderment. Was he in the right timeless ancient room, or had they taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque?

Hearing her shout he became a little nervous, as people who are missing something really really important would feel. "Umm, eh, just gimme a sec!" He spoke back to her, now frantically looking around, swinging his fire around erratically trying to locate your casual big fancy jewel. But it was no use, the thing was gone. "crap crap crap..." He said to himself as he scurried around the floor like a roach, hoping maybe it was nearby. But that room was empty. Now he could hear Fathia coming so he jolted up to a stand as she came into focus. A nervous look was on his face as she approached with a smile. Should he lie? He didn't want to disappoint her... And there really wasn't anything he could've said. "We got a problem..." He said sheepishly as he moved his flame pointing towards the empty pedestal. "I think some beat us to it!"

[NPC - Fathia]

Gah!!! That dolt! Of course she didn't!! She was just lying to- Agh, nevermind.. she wasn't going to let it bother her. In fact, she actually felt a little honored that he would think that much of her that she owned one, feeling like she could play the part a little better. When Azel had left though, finally taking a hint, she leaned a bit closer to the guards, putting her hands on each of their shoulders, right by there head, like she was flirting even with them. They guards were so easily falling to her alluring offer, and she continued to make a few comments that made their faces red, and their tongues hang out like lusty dogs. And then-

*BONK!*

With her hands around their shoulders, she suddenly reached higher up by the guards heads, slamming the two together with a swift press, putting their heads into one another. The loud thunk of skull against skull was a good sign to her, watching as the two were knocked out cold, and slumped to the ground. "Too easy~" She said to herself, glad she never lost that charm, before she quickly hopped onto her orange chocobo. No time to waist! She had to catch back up to Azel, for all she knew, that idiot might get himself lost.

Fortunately her own chocobo was able to track his and she saw him off in the distance, noticing he caught site of an entrance. The volcano itself had three seperate paths carved into the volcano, much like tunnels that went through the layered rock. It was warm, but not as hot as one would think, actually comfortable like being laid out before the sun on a hot beach day. Hopefully their luck, Azel had chosen the right one. The last thing she wanted was to encounter a few more guards, or to stray from the path and deal with a few monsters.

Stopping before the entrance of the tunnel, Fathia looked around briefly, making sure their tracks were covered as she instinctively spoke in a whisper, even if it was just the two of them. "Thanks.. you made me feel like such a whore back there." She said with an eyeroll, poking him in the side sharply with her fingertip just below the ribcage. "Now, let's go deeper in, we need to find this thing before others notice the guards are 'taking a nap' at the moment." Unfortunately, it was nearly pitch black in the cavern, and lighting was difficult. She looked at him, quarking a brow even though it could barely be seen, realizing that despite how well she was prepared, she slipped up and had one problem. "..Hey, Romeo, you got a source of light? Maybe some magic or something?"
Azel didn't get far in before he became a little confused. The inside terrace was strange. It wasn't like that ancient ruin he had found a year or two back. Other then that he never was one to investigate caves and stuff. So he didn't know what he was looking for. As luck would have it, it was around that time that Fathia showed up to aid him. With an impressed smirk he greeted her. "Hey you made it!" He said cheerfully, as if anything he said earlier was not too offensive.

"You asked me to get us through. You naked was the first thing to come to my mind." He said with an innocent shrug and a small chuckle. "But seriously... about that week pass?" He spoke surprisingly as if he expected one, but still in a sort of a playful way as he waved off her to his chest as if it didn't affect him through his 'perfect abs' underneath that jacket of his. But not quite waiting for her response he lifted a gloved hand. Flicking it a bit like he was trying to spark a lighter before a luminescent flame flickered above his hand in the shape a small but bright fire. "Don't worry, I'm always a step ahead." He said as he held the fire with somewhat control, the fire of black magic, but he seemed to have pretty good control over it. He had to resist a joke about how he was hot though... darn. That would just be cheesy. "Glad you made it. I have no idea where to go. I'm guessing you do?"

User ImageAs the man strolled through town on his Chocobo, he kept his eyes peeled for anything curious that might have been going on around him; of course, to be perfectly honest, he wasn't paying all that much attention to the citizens- he was far more interested in the town's layout, following the paths that led him in the direction of the volcano. Soryuju would speed up every once in a while on the straight paths, energetically skipping almost. However, as they drew closer to the edge of town, he spotted one thing. One important little detail that was most certainly the highlight of his day.

Not one, but two knocked out guardsmen?

With a smirk, Atrozeon lightly nudged Soryuju's sides and the two were off, dashing out of the town while they had the chance to leave and following the path to the volcano. The sooner he was out of that town, the better. And hey, he could even claim that he was trying to catch whatever perpetrators had knocked the guards out originally. Oh, it was all too perfect.

Nearing the volcano, he slowed Soryuju to a steady walk as he analyzed the geographical layout, looking at whatever paths there might have been, trying to focus in on any details that might be sticking out...

{I take it, since she'd made it to the mountain, it had been a few minutes at least, so he wouldn't have spotted the two of them in the distance?}
((If you want, you could say he saw them, or not. I'll leave that up to you. =3 ))

[NPC - Fathia]

"You already have your free pass; we're together, a team, right?" Fathia said back to him when he still brought up her comment about a brothel she used only for a lie. The way she told him this though sounded rather genuine, like she had plans to really stay by his side for a genuinely long time. Whether this was really the truth though or all a ruse though was the big question. Either way, she seemed to dismiss his comment now, quickly forgiving him as she instinctively reached out, taking a light clasp of his free hand by the wrist, needing some guidance in the darkness. "Neat trick, explains why you were able to light my fire yesterday." She said with a soft laugh, keeping close to Azel as they had the chance not to navigate further into the cavern.

The cavern certainly seemed vacant and carved by man. Like this was created for a reason inside the volcano. The deeper they would walk, the warmer it got too, nearly to the point where it got uncomfortable near the end, the cavern getting smaller too, but the sides of the brown, rocky walls now beginning to have crystallizations, small stalagmites and stalactites surrounding them as they creepy through the cave. Azel's small flame lit the place up with a bright glow, causing most of the crystals to illuminate the cavern lightly in red, almost like they were actually looking at the town's precious gem already.

One they were deep enough, completely unaware of Atrozeon following a few minutes behind them, it looked like the end was coming in site. In fact, they reached a final pathway that looked more ornately carved then the rest, rectangular like a precious doorway, and older carvings in an unknown language carved along the border. The carvings were familiar though to anyone who had seen Titrel where the Obelisk of Redemption was, the same style carved into the border here. "..This must be it then." She said with a growing smile, slowly releasing Azel as her orange eyes lit up like gems. The cavern inside was dark and humid, impossible to see until Azel entered, but any treasure hunter or thief would have felt that tingle down their spine like they were about to strike it rich. It all seemed... too easy though, surely there had to be a trap of some sort? "..Hey, why don't you go first?" She commented, remaining on the outside of the doorway, looking around just to be sure there weren't any signs of this being a false entryway, a trap, or pitfall. It checked out, and she gave Azel a thumbs up, keeping her hand near her blade just in case things were about to get nasty.

His eyes narrowed slightly in a sense of inner joy as she said that. It made him feel a little better to finally have someone apologize for him, but was that right? "Th-thank you..." He actually hadn't meant to be so transparent. He hoped he wasn't bringing her spirits down with himself. He didn't want to be a burden to her happy emotions so he dropped the subject. It was good to break any silence, but now he found he may be making her uncomfortable that or overly thoughtful of him. Wasn't that what he was trying to keep her from doing? Gah. He was so confused with himself now. Thankfully then the food had arrived and he could drown his awkwardness with the food he needed to get back to his senses.

Eagerly he picked up a knife and fork and cut into the steak he was brought, it's smell drifted up in a delicious fragrance. Stabbing a chunk with his fork, he lifted it to his mouth and instantly he was in heaven. It was a damn good chunk of meat for such a dinky looking place. Grabbing his glass of water he drowned the meat in his mouth with the liquid and swallowed. That's when Tomoko caught his attention and turned his eye up from his steak to whatever she had ordered. Looking up to her he let go a small smile once more, trying to match the one she had shown off the whole time they had been acquainted. "Sure, I'll take a bite. You can have some of mine too." He replied as he reached his fork over to skewer a chunk of her dish and bring it to his mouth. At the same time he pushed his steak forward, allowing her to grab a bite if she wanted.

"Hey~Not bad." He commented, chewing an extra bit to soak in it's flavor. Seeming a bit more cheerful in attitude now that his stomach wasn't completely empty. Finishing it relaxed a bit from his tensed up state and turned his attention back to her. Seeing she was having trouble confronting him he figured to try and calm down his appearance, frightened he might be intimidating her somewhat. "Sorry if I'm kind of weird-" He said seeming aware that he had some strange perks, "You just kind of remind me of," a momentary pause, "of an old friend." He said still keeping the small friendly smile as it faded a bit. "And well... it's been kind of a while since I've had company to talk to, besides my chocobo." He sadly admitted, not aware that the same applied for her. Tomoko should've been pretty proud with herself, it was rare for Seig to open up so easily nowadays. It was quite an accomplishment.

"Of course, First mate-" He replied with a grin, but keeping his head ahead at the cavern. Taking note of the strange formations. They seemed different in a way. "Damn I'm liking you, you say the perfect things." He spoke on her comment. She really knew how to stroke his ego, that was good and all, but she also knew how to stroke something else, and that made it perfect! She was a catch. "When we're done with this we'll have to go to Tralst. I know some pretty exotic places there that'll light your fire twice as well." He said, promising a wonderful experience regarding the fact the two got this gem.

Sense he was clearly the man and the tough guy he was he took lead, as to not have his hot meal ticket get ruined. Plus, he knew that when guys acted all heroic and stuff it got the girls even more pumped. So seriously, was sex all that was on Azel's mind? . . . . . Maybe it was best to save that question for later. Right right, and the tentacle monsters! What if there was one in there? Fathia would be totally helpless. He had to take a stand for what was right, and all that junk. "Yeah sure, keep an eye out..." He said as they came to the doorway.

Looking it over it seemed oddly familiar, but he couldn't place his finger on it. And even if it didn't seem like he was thinking it, he was aware that there might've been a trap. Slowly Azel walked into the big room. His small flame slowly lit up the big room, but it didn't take much light to bounce around all the crystals and make the room laminate. In the middle of the room laid a big shiny object, perhaps the 'Eye of Ifrit'? Azel cautiously made his way a bit more into the room, gazing wonderingly at the surrounding's with his blue eyes. "I think it's clear..." He called out to Fathia as he still kept an eye out for potential danger. He knew she was doing the same. Slowly his eyes went to the 'Eye of Ifrit' and he could see why she was so infatuated with it. It was pretty epic to say the least.

User ImageAs Seraphim draped the napkin over Alison's head, the girl blinked and removed it, staring at it for a brief momement she tried to figure out exactly what she had done that required the use of a napkin. She started by wiping each of her fingers, wondering if that had been the problem; but she soon realized that her fingers were actually quite clean. Only then did she finally realize that she'd made a huge syrupy mess around her mouth - and even then she only realized because the syrup had started turning into a dry, sticky mess. Wiping her mouth with the napkin and grinning to herself. Even though it had actaully taken Seraphim to point out to her that she actually needed to clean herself up, Alison still felt a sense of achievement that she'd actually managed to figure out exactly what she had needed to clean. Her argument was that because she couldn't actually see her own face, it was quite an achievement to be able to figure out that there was a mess on her face.

Grabbing her bat on the way out, Alison looked at the damaged door, her grin fading for a moment as she inspected the damaged door. At least there was one hinge still intact; and they didn't really have anything of value in their apartment for anyone to steal. She carefully stepped out of the apartment, making sure not to even so much as brush up against the door - just in case she somehow managed to damage it even more by doing so.

The old man let out a soft chuckle as Wulfgar asked how he was. "About as well as an old fool with weak ankles and poor eyesight can hope to be." Came the response as he rested his walking staff against his shoulder, being careful to keep it out of the way so that nobody else could trip over it. He shook his head softly as his demeanour turned slightly more serious, and he pointed a thin finger towards one of the 'Missing' posters hanging on the wall. "I'm sure by now you've noticed the posters?" He shook his head sadly and let out another, deeper sigh, clearly saddened by the disappearance of the young boy. "Little Ricky's gone missing, and... Frankly, the council's not all that sure what to do about it. Obviously, we've put the posters up, but we need some real action. Some people want to organize a search party, others say we should get some outside help... I'll get to the point; I was wondering if you would like to perhaps earn yourself a little extra Gil, and help us out?"

The snapped hinge was heard, and it caused him to pause momentarily. He shook his head and told himself to see if he could put it back together. Though not the best with mechanical stuff, it shouldn't too hard—he hoped. Shrugging, the green-haired wanderer followed the two girls out and into the town once more. The city was bustling with humes everywhere. Most going about their afternoon business. He ran a hand through his hair, though it was only to check that his ears were snugly hidden. Satisfied, he stuffed his hands into

The weather was pleasant—not too hot, nor too cold. Perfect outdoorsy weather; though, he didn't really mind the weather. He'd travel in anything, so long as it didn't bother his chocobo. Calmly surveying the city as they headed off to Mount Pherea, his stomach growled gently. Ack, maybe I should have eaten, he noted, but it was too late now. Besides, surely there would be a fruit tree or something else along the way to tide his appetite until the next full meal.

This food was just so delicious, and Tomoko's eyes almost seemed to sparkle when Seig offered some of his food to her. She rarely turned down food and she could smell the meat off his plate, begging for her to take a bite. The two momentary switched and she cut herself off a small bite of his steak, popping the meat into her mouth and letting the juices sink into her tongue. Mmm~ It was so good~ Personally she liked hers better, but good food was good food! Carefully she chewed the bite, savoring it for as long as she could before it become too mushy and she had to swallow.

"Mmm~ Yours is good as well." She answered back, happy that they both got to enjoy such a wonderful meal together. Slowly she could see this barrier of his lower in a sense, him becoming much more relaxed and open. The people in the restaurant might even start thinking that the two were a couple or on a date...but that was an easy misconception when people saw two people of the opposte sex together. Neither of them looked like the other, so that easily crossed out the possibility of them being siblings. There was no way that one sibling would get platinum blonde looking hair and bright blue-ish green eyes, the other getting dark raven colored hair with violet eyes. It was just too different. The only similarities the two had were the fact that they were both from Sai-Zhin and dressed as such.

Tomoko pushed his plate back to him and pulled hers back, eager to get back to the meat and potatoes that the waiter had given her. She was a slow eater and dainty either, taking very small bites and savoring each of them. Every so often she would take a small sip of her tea. This was so nice to be cheerful and enjoying food with someone for a change. She was enjoying her time...but when Seig apologised about being weird, she stopped mid bite, the fork of food on the way to her open mouth, stopped in midair. Not only that, he said that she reminded him of an old friend. He just couldn't help but make himself seem more myterious and keep her mind wondering more about his past. This time, she felt like she was in the right to ask about it...he did bring up an old friend. She even set her fork down and opened her mouth to ask about it when he mentioned how he hadn't had anyone to talk to in awhile, other than his chocobo. Such a similiar situation the two seemed to be in. It was an interesting coincidence that they had met like this.

A feminine chuckle escape her lips and her smile widened, somehow seeming even more genuine then the small one she kept politely on her face when with him. It put all those others to shame, but this large small was only brief and quickly returned back to just the normal smile. "It seems that we are both in the same boat. My chocobo has been a lovely companion but is not much for conversation." Her plate was nearly gone now and she was looking rather full, still not having touched her cheesecake...which she desperately wanted to get to before her stomach exploded and she reminded herself just how much bigger her eyes were than her stomach.

Pushing her plate forward she tilts her head and pushes her cheesecake plate in front of her. "I am not one for wasting food...if you finish my plate for me, I will give you half of my cheesecake." She offered, already cutting the cheesecake straight down the middle. It was against Tomoko's nature to ever waste food, but she knew better than to each so much to the point where she was throwing up. The food was good, but not good enough to sacrifice the food that already had been consumed.

Mentally, Tomoko was biting her lip. Once again the conversation about this man's past had been adverted. Maybe it just wasn't her place to know...she would wait a little longer and see if he hinted at it again. It was really starting to eat at the back of her brain, wondering just why this man left Sai-Zhin and now who she reminded him of. A sister maybe? There were just so many interesting possibilities that flooded her head. It was actually surprising to think that she was thinking all of this, seeing as how she looked completely calm and innocently happy sitting there...like there were absolutely no thoughts invading her mind.
She wasn't even going to let this bother her, honestly, she could fix the door later. Seraphim had worked long enough in the steel proccessing plants to learn a trick or two, and was a bit more handy with metal than most. She never really persued this talent, seeing as how the town had enough metalsmiths as it is. But, since Seraphim worked with metal, was used to hard labor, and working in a hot, industrial enviroment for so long and did well with her hands and strength, she could have really had the talent to be a good weapon or armorsmith if she took the time to practice.

User ImageAfter leaving the apartment, Seraphim reached into the pockets of her pants, pulling out a pair of restitched black gloves that were old and worn. Both Alison and Kaoru would have recognized these, as she wore them often, and had cut them apart countless times from too much use in fights, barely giving her knuckles any padding at this point. Still, she didn't have the luxery of anything much better than these, and had some memories attached to the worn, fingerless gloves, stretching them onto her hand and flexing her fingers a little as they walked.

At this point, they were barely leaving the less wealthy district of the town, just heading down the block as they walked along the dirt road paths. Seraphim took her time though, being casual about the entire situation, blowing off a little steam as she hummed a little melody to herself, barely loud enough for the others to hear. It was a familiar melody though, one she often sang when she was by herself, but with only her soft hum, it was hard to recognize. However, she did occasionally let the word hallelujah slip out, barely above a delicate whisper, like she was saying sweet nothing to the winds in a perfect harmony. She seemed a lot calmer now that she was outdoors and cleaned up with some food in her. Not to mention, even if she didn't show it, she was glad to have Kaoru around, it was rare she got to see another friendly face aside from Alison, so despite Seraphim's strange way in showing affection as a friend, she did care and was glad he was around.

[NPC - Fathia / Narration - Inside Mt. Pheara]

When Azel stepped into the small room, there was a small alter. Carved from beautiful, pewter and marble stone there was a pedestal like place where the gem sat. The carvings around it similiar to the writing around the doorway, and a single indentation for the gem to fit. It was like raiding a temple and hear lied it's most holy relic. It all seemed too perfect. There was only one tiny problem though when Azel got close enough to realize something...

The 'Eye if Ifrit' was MISSING!!!

No lusterous red gem, no beautiful, radiant glow that illuminated the room, no stone the size of a fist to grant a man all the riches he could desire; there was nothing!

"Hey Azeeeel~? How's it going in there? Are we rich?" She said with an optimistic ring in her words, more innocent and cute then ever before. Totally unaware of what was going on, still waiting on the outside of the doorway, Fathia had finished searching for traps of any sort, turning slowly to face the doorway, seeing Azel in front of the alter, but unable to really see the alter or gem itself since he was in front of it. Fathia was slowly beginning to approach him, arms folded behind her back with a big, exited grin. She had no idea of what really was going on, or what might be running through Azel's mind right now.
User ImageMovement. There had been movement around one of the visible paths, and as both he and his chocobo focused on the movement, they noticed it was... someone getting off their chocobo? It was a distance away, but it nonetheless led him toward the proper path. Atrozeon gave a light smirk, patting Soryuju lightly on the head. "Let's go meet some friends, hmm?"

With a light nudge, Soryuju dashed down the chosen path, following the tracks left behind. As he neared the cave entrance, however, he decided to get off his chocobo a little early, so as not to spook the other chocobos. Cautiously, he slid off, and with a knowing pat to Soryuju (who, by this point, had been trained enough to know that if something happened, he was to flee to the nearest Chocobo rest stop), Atrozeon slipped near the entrance and began to 'slither' through the caverns with barely a sound. As he entered the cave, he made sure to remove his revolver from his holster- he wouldn't be the one caught off guard today.
User ImageAs they left and started heading through the town, Alison's eyes widened as she looked around. Despite the fact she'd walked the streets of Cryth a thousand times over, she always managed to find something new that would attract her attention. Of course, this wasn't so much a case of Cryth changing so much as it was just another indication of how incredibly awful Alison's eyesight and powers of observation were. That, and the fact that since the colours of everything that she could see changed every day (and rarely, multiple times in the same day) meant that every time she stepped out of the apartment, she felt like she was in a vaguely different place.

Despite the noise of the city, Alison was close enough to Seraphim to hear her humming, and the tune brought a smile to the girl's face. Alison had heard Seraphim singing this song before, and although Alison didn't actually know the words to it, she could recognize the tune itself easily enough, having heard it so many times. She paused for a moment and allowed Seraphim to continue for a moment, before humming along with it herself - although Alison wasn't anywhere near as musically talented, and there were quite a few flat notes in her humming. Of course, to Alison, it sounded just fine, but to anyone with an ear for music, or to anyone who really knew the tune, the notes that weren't quite in-tune were almost painfully bad to hear.

Hearing Dargan's reply, Wulfgar had smirked a bit even as he spoke. For an old man, he sure had a sense of humor still. As for when the waitress had arrived with his meal, Wulfgar gave her a brief nod before his attention had returned to Dargan. Even as the Elder continued to speak, he said nothing at all and began to cut his meal into smaller, easy to manage pieces. Wulfgar had then quietly chewed on a piece of the steak, finding it cooked to his satisfaction. All while listening to each word Dargan had to say.

"I've noticed." Was Wulfgar's answer to whether or not he had seen the poster relating to the missing teenager. He continued to eat his steak and hash brown meal peacefully, then taking a sip of water as he kept on listening to Dargan. The part of forming a search party had Wulfgar intrigued, as for the part of earning a little extra gil, as Dargan had put it. That little part hadn't been something that really interested him, despite how one needed even a little gil to live upon.

"Am I the first person you've approached with this offer?" Wulfgar asked, not even allowing a chance for Dargan to speak before he had finished his own thoughts. "If that's not so, who are the names of these other people? And what could you possibly mean by outside help?" he finished asking, now letting the older one of the two answer his three questions. Wulfgar had asked these questions in enough of a nonchalant manner as he could muster, even while he went back to eating.

To him, this more than likely had meant more than one thing. The council being stumped on a solution was one problem that could be adressed at a later time, along with the lack of action that nobody seemed to be taking even with the wanted posters spread around the city. Lastly, this search party, sure seemed a hell of alot better than spending other night in the Old Yellah, drinking away till who knows how early in the morning.

Either way, till he had recieved an answer from Dargan in regards of his questions, he had made it seem that he wasn't one hundred percent interested in the task. Wulfgar now waited silently for Dargan to speak up, once again returning to his meal that was still laying out before him on the table.
