so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
There are three safety precautions you need to take when you're a teacher. First, always make sure you know what you're teaching before you go to class, as to not be humiliated. Second, if a student/the principal/a working ... person? insults you, reply coolly as to show that you do not care (even if you do). Third, do not form any emotional attachment with anyone, to promote equality and fairness, and for your heart to be safe from hurt. Adrian had practiced them plenty of times, circling her apartment. She practiced what to do when someone insulted her using her sister, Carolyn Jody, as the insultee (is there such word?) -- even though she really didn't care what people called her. She made sure to memorize her lesson plan every night, and use Carolyn Jody as her student -- because she demands excellence from everyone, including herself. Adrian was a master at precautions number one and two. There's no need to master number three, because she was not one to form any emotional attachments to anyone besides her family (not in the incest way -- she doesn't have any friends -- if you count her dog, Gigglesnort). Well, when she was a kid, she had plenty of great friends. All of them were guys, since Adrian never really learned to trust girls that much. But when she reached highschool up, all she ever had were fake friends. Fair-weathered friends.
At highschool, Adrian was given the label of 'slut'. Sometimes she was called a whore too but they're basically the same. And instead of feeling hurt, she held her head up high, and kept her label those four years, losing count of how many hearts she had broken and how many guys and girls she had been in bed (and table, and pool, and couch) with. She was good at Science, not Math. And when she reached college, she still had the label 'slut' with her, although by that time people had grown up and didn't give each other as much labels. But of course everyone was aware of her ... slutiness. And yet they still fell for her little charm. But, despite her, gift (as the rigid, long skirt-wearing, four-eyed girls would call it) Adrian was clever and smart, and passed with flying colors -- except Math.
Now she's back to highschool, where no one knows of her infamous history (aside from a few people here and there). It's only been a month, so as of now they see her as this hot teacher who's very ... hot. Oh my, what happened to teenagers nowadays? Instead of listening to her class, males would just stare at her and other parts of her body and females would scowl and talk behind her back with their friends. Miffed about the fact that they might fail Science because of her, she gave all those that had failed (which was practically everyone) detention for a week. Which meant an hour of doing nothing in a boring room with a boring old teacher named Mr. Polt. Their grades raised up a bit, that was good. But Adrian didn't stop wearing her outfits (which didn't seem appropriate for a teacher) because, well, she loved the attention. She just doesn't love her students' low grades. So you may call her an attention whore too.
Adrian was used to it. She was used to males and some females staring at her and others muttering jealously. And like I said, she loved it. Enjoyed it. So when she noticed that someone wasn't giving her the attention she usually got, she felt irked...and curious. She never planned on memorizing names, since she had forced all her students to wear those silly little name tags, but she had to know his name. And she did. Colton Evan Mavis. The one straight little guy fishie that escaped her seductive net. He immediately caught her attention and has spent a few minutes just staring at him... do things. She noticed that the so-called populars have bullied him and labeled him as a geek. Or a nerd. Or a geeky nerd. Odd that such people usually insult the nice ones. Oh, what a world high school is. She did wish that he would help her do stuff though. Not because she liked him, but because he was...interesting. And rather handsome for someone labeled as a geek.
Right now she was in Science class, teaching her class about cells. For some odd reason, they thought teaching Seniors a lesson for Sophomores and Freshmen was brilliant. Oh, how she wanted to teach them about more important things. Like how babies are made. But no, they told her that this was important for them to learn. And so she taught them just that, boring even herself. Do it for Dad, she had thought. Her father has lung cancer and her mother was worried that Adrian would go the same way because she smoked too. But hell, it was fun and she could quit anytime! ...Right? So currently, she's in front of thirty students, teaching (of course). Many of them were writing furiously into her notebooks, eager to get everything she said in paper. She didn't like that. It was much better to listen and remember than to write and forget.
"Okay!" she said loudly, clapping her hands. Many jumped in surprise. "Let's have an oral review. I'll ask one of you a question randomly and you'll have to answer it in ten seconds!" Who to call... Who to call ... "Colton Evan Mavis! What are the two types of cells and what is the difference between them?" A smile was brought to her features. Hopefully he'd stutter and get the wrong answer (which she doubted). She'd love to see that.
ooc: I had fun writing this post even if it's not that good. xD

___________________THE GEEKY STUDENT
Colt opened his locked and pulled out his science book. Second period was going to start soon and if he didn’t get there in time, there was a very big chance he would be put into detention, something he honestly couldn’t risk. He was senior, and this year was the most important one yet. Colt couldn’t afford a single black mark on his record if he wanted to get as far away as possible from this place for college. His grades were high enough for him to get into most Ivy league schools and he leaning towards Yale, but he had no idea what he wanted to do, all that mattered to him right now was just getting away.
He slammed his locker shut, locking it and started to walk in the direction of the science lab. There was a line outside the room when he arrived indicating that Ms. Ward had yet to show up to unlock the door. Colt leaned against the wall, a bit further back then the rest of the class. He just didn’t belong with them.
When he first started high school in this new town he would become really angry that the rest of the kids ignored him and called him names, bulling him, but as he grew up he realized that it wasn’t his fault and he hadn’t done anything other than get good grades. He also came to the realization that in order to be part of the “cool crowd” one had to have an IQ less then fifty. Something he obviously did not have. It wasn’t like he was a total loner either. He had friends, a few of them, but the school was so big that he only had a chance to see them during the lunch hour and occasionally one of them would have a class with him.
Colt was snapped back to earth as the line of students started moving. He saw Ms. Ward pulling her key out of the lock and walking into the classroom. Colt was the last one in the room, and the class was already full which meant he had to take one of the desks in the back of the room. If this had been any other class, Colt would have been able to take a seat in the front, which he preferred no problem, but this wasn’t any other class, this was Science.
The Science class was always jammed pack. Not a single student missed the class if they could help it. All the guys wanted to be here, and sitting in the front so they could drool over the new teacher and the girls were here, well they were here to make sure there boyfriends didn’t go too far out of line, and if they did, then they would just blame Ms.Ward rather than understand that there boyfriends didn’t really like them in the first place, they just liked what they could offer.
Colt was always here too, but not for the same reason they were, he was actually here to learn, really it’s true. Well no not really, he was here because skipping wouldn’t look very good on her record. Colt didn’t exactly need to be here, all he needed was a few hours with a textbook and he was good to go. His presence in the classrooms was purely for show, a way to get references, because what teacher wouldn’t write a page full of praise for their best student? There wasn’t a single one, well not in this school at least.
Colt leaned back as pulled out a superman comic book and tucked it carefully into his textbook. He was sitting in the back, and he needed to do something to pass the time. He heard Ms. Ward start to speak. That was his cue to stop listening to what she was saying.
Every once in a while he would hear a new voice, usually on of his classmates making an obvious observation which would force Colt to look up at the board to see what was going on in the class. Once he was satisfied that he knew all that there was to know, he would turn his attention back to the comic book.
"Okay!" Colt jumped in his seat as his teacher started to speak again, rather loudly this time, as if rousing everyone’s attention to herself, which wasn’t really hard for her he guessed as some of the guy in the front seat leaned in closer to her and her little black dress that Colt was sure violated some sort of dress code that had been set forth by the administration. "Let's have an oral review. I'll ask one of you a question randomly and you'll have to answer it in ten seconds!"
”I have excellent oral skills,” mumbled one of the loser jocks from beside Colt, though he said it quietly enough that Ms. Ward hadn’t noticed though she seemed to be deep in thought as she glanced around the classroom. "Colton Evan Mavis! What are the two types of cells and what is the difference between them?"
Colt stammered for a second as he tried to figure out what they were talking about today. He glanced at the board for a clue. ”Well,um, there’s a cell wall, and a nucleus. A cell wall is found only in plants, while a nucleus is only in plants and animals. Yeah” he said as he shifted lower into his seat under her gaze. He was pretty ticked off that she used his full name, why couldn’t she just say colt and get it over with. He hoped she wouldn’t notice the comic book shoved in his science text. The last thing he needed was more unwanted attention from his so called classmates.
OhOhCee: Sorry that was longer than expected. I loved writing this too. Your post was great XD

so tell me darling,

Adrian stared at him for a very long time with those piercing brown eyes until she finally glanced at the blackboard. "Don't look at it," she snapped, annoyed at the fact that he was plainly not listening to her. Oh, that hurts. "I suggest you put down your faulty Science textbook and listen." Yes, he got the right answer. But he peeked, so that doesn't count, right? And he wasn't listening, does that mean she should give him detention? Maybe, maybe... The thought was very tempting though. And perhaps she could let Mr. Polt rest and handle detention for once. Perhaps it would be fun. Adrian had never been in detention before (the school personnel knew nothing about her 'achievements') so she had no idea what kind of racket occurred in that little room. She should ask Mr. Polt about that sometime... If he ever gets his crooked little nose out of ridiculous Time magazines. Adrian loathed it. She didn't have a very good attention span and it bored her easily.
So, what was she supposed to do again? Oh yes, oral review. Hmm, what should she ask? Er... Maybe something easy. "Patricia..Muckley?" she said loudly, squinting to see what was written on the redhead's nametag. She needs to buy some glasses soon... "It's Maricia Buckley, Miss Ward," she said in a shy little voice, sitting up a bit straighter. "But, um, Patricia sounds nice too," she added, causing a few people to giggle and others roll their eyes and grin to their pals. Adrian couldn't help but smile though. "I'm sorry about that, Pat -- Maricia. Anyway...er...The cell, which is the structural unit of life, consists of chemical substances. Hence, the story of the evolution of life is a story of chemical evolution. The chemical substances in living systems consist of tow main classes. What are they?"
Maricia seemed rather happy to say the answer, her face losing the shy look she had just seconds ago. "Um...Inorganic and Organic Compounds. The main difference between them is that--"
Stop, b***h, someone else is going to answer that! she first thought of saying. But maybe she should go with a nicer approach for the mild adoloscent. "Pat--Maricia," she began. She had never been good at memorizing names. Or perhaps her brain had the name Pat-Maricia stuck into it instead of Maricia. Damn it. "You can stop right there. The difference with the two is for ... Colton Evan Mavis to answer." Oh how she loved calling people by their full names...Was it her or was the class staring at her with puzzled expressions? Oh, it was probably because she called Colt twice now. She rarely called anyone twice, unless of course they were jumping up and down, dying to say the answer. And when she did so, she called the unsuspecting ones -- and Colt, of course. Well, she couldn't help it. Adrian always called out the name that first popped into her head, and Colt's usually showed up first. You can't blame the poor lass for wanting to call the intriguing ones that just loved popping into her head. And Colton fit both of those requirements perfectly. Now hurry up and answer my question, she thought, her lip curling.
ooc: thank youuu! yours too : D

Colt could feel the class’s eyes on him. He wasn’t exactly terrified, but he didn’t like all the unwanted attention either. All he did was answer a question, and he got the right answer too, he was sure of it. Ms. Ward snapped at him about looking at the board, which made Colt shift a tiny bit lower in his seat. The class’s attention was nothing compared to his teachers attention. There was something about her, it seemed like no matter what he did, she would always be upset with him. What kind of teacher got mad at you for having the right answer?
He didn’t have time to think about the answer as she told him to stop reading his faulty textbook. Colt was more than a little confused now. Was she seriously mad at him for getting the answer right? He was probably the only person in the class who had even bothered opening his textbook. What the hell was wrong with this woman?
He sighed in relief when she moved her attention away from him and to someone else. Colt like several others rolled his eyes when Maricia started to suck up. Colt was surprised that Ms.Ward had screwed up the girls name, she seemed to know his full name by heart, yet had trouble with the name of one of the most popular girls in the senior class. Colt grinned when the girl started to answer the question. She had gotten the right answer, probably for the first time in her life.
He watched as Ms.Ward cut her off, looking slightly ticked off. Colt glanced back down at the text book in his lap, which of course was really just concealing his superman comic. He jumped in his seat for the second time this morning when she called on him again. The jump made him loosen his grip on the textbook and it went falling to the floor, the well hidden comic, along with it, not so well hidden anymore. He knew he was screwed. She had some sort of person vendetta against him. He looked up at her bravely, not even moving to pick up the books off the ground.
Colt crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, something he saw some of the jocks do a lot. He looked up at her, doing his best to look calm. ” Organic compounds are produced by living things. Inorganic compounds are produced by non-living natural processes or by human intervention in the laboratory.
Inorganic compounds can form salts. Organic compounds can't.
Organic compounds contain carbon. Inorganic compounds don't.
Organic compounds contain carbon-hydrogen bonds. Inorganic compounds don't.
Inorganic compounds contain metal atoms. Organic compounds don't.”
Textbook or not, Colt knew he was right. He had just read that chapter last night and there was no possible way that she could say he was wrong. Well okay, she could say it, but that would just help build his theory about her having some kind of vendetta against him. He was a model student, he had straight ‘A’s in this class. Yet she seemed to hate him. Maybe she hated him because he was a geek or a nerd or whatever the rest of his class called him for being smart and actually planning on doing something in his life. Colt looked at her, really looked at her. She was fairly young, and he could just see her being a part of the ‘cool’ crowd. His eyes met with hers and he glared at her.
Colten looked away quickly and bent down to reach his textbook and his comic. ”So you are gay” said the loser jock from beside him. ”No straight guy would read about another guy in tights.” Colt rolled his eyes, way too familiar with this behaviour. ”Oh yeah, but all straight guys like to wear tights, rough around with another guy, who is also in tights, getting all sweaty with the intention pinning the other guy down beneath them…yeah that sounds completely straight” Colten bit back, taking a jab at the other boys wrestling career. He heard a few people in the class laugh. The jock himself was turning red, looking very pissed off. Colt had a good feeling that the second the bell rang, he better start running, and there was no way he could go eat lunch in the cafeteria next period. He glanced at the clock wondering how much time he had left alive. For someone who was so smart, he really said some stupid things, like why would he insult a guy on the wrestling team? He stuffed his books in his bag as he pondered about his own stupidity.
OhOhCee:I was so excited when I saw you posted. I feel like I'm in Science class again XP

so tell me darling,

so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
Superman. When Adrian was eleven and below, she was (and sometimes, is) a tomboy and enjoyed everything a little boy would enjoy. Baseballs, skateboards, comics, and making foolish attempts to prank their teachers. Superman happened to be one of her favorite comics -- even if it was about a guy with tights with a stupid S pasted on his chest. But when she reached the awkward age of twelve, her mother, fearing that Adrian wouldn't grow up to be a proper, sensible lady (which Adrian never wanted to be -- and never became one) pulled her away from her best friends, who were all boys. Then she was pushed to daughters of her mother's socialite friends, who would become...popular or some other crappy synonym you'd like for it at highschool. And for some reason, they liked her when she definitely did not like them. At. All. Maybe they liked her because at that time, her family was rich and nice, living a glamorous life of luxury and pleasure. But she couldn't say that it wasn't fun, because it terribly was, being a part of the privileged life. Oh, it certainly was. But unlike in this school, to rule East Wingston Academy, you had to have to have brains and beauty to rule the school. If you have only one of those requirements, you'd be handed the label of "wannabe". Adrian didn't know the feeling but it probably didn't feel very nice.
She looked at the comic, glinting because of the sun's rays peeking in the windows, as she listened to what he was saying. "What you said seems to be exactly what is written in page 203, Mr. Mavis," she said coolly, taking a book from the boy in front of him and flipping it. "Ah yes, word to word," she murmured. "Thank you," she added, giving the book back to him. "But I can't say that you're wrong, though." She shrugged lightly and looked at him, tilting her head to the left as he practically glared at her. Oooh, glaring at a teacher. That might count as rudeness, right? She was sure that being rude and disrespectful to a teacher is one of the reasons you could get a detention. Very tempting... Should she do it? She probably should. Just to teach him a lesson, riiiiight? And he'd have to be all alone, so that she could discipline him better. It's for the boy's own good, of course... Her eyes twinkled as she leaned towards him closely. Hmm, nice features, she couldn't help but think. Did the term nerd change its meaning during the few years she had been gone from highschool? In her school, it meant someone who was brainy, wore round glasses, and had every skin problem known (and sometimes unknown) to man.
Then, after giving him a rather piercing look, she kneeled down quickly and grabbed the comic before he could pick it up. "I'll be holding this for today. You can get it after school," she said airily, walking back to her table, not hearing what Colten and the jocks said because she was too busy flipping the pages of the comic, wondering if hers was any different... And of course to see if there were any bad stuff in it unsafe for the eyes of the children. What if there were scantily clad people there? Oh the horror! Adrian grinned at the sarcastic thoughts forming into her head and threw it into the table, ignoring it as it slid and dropped to the floor.
And then she heard a few people laugh. She looked over her shoulder, thinking that it was about Colt again. Her eyebrows raised when she realized that he wasn't the victim at all, the way the jock glared at him and how she could see worry in his face. So the nerd insulted the jock. Well, time to catch up with times, Adrian, she thought. Seems like today nerds get more stuck-up and confident while jocks get lousier and lamer.
She pursed her lips and decided to get back with what she was doing. Oh, how fun reviews are! She asked at least five people when she decided to call Colten ... again. "Mavis," she said suddenly, "tell me all have you have learned about cells today." But before Colten could reply, Maricia raised her hand eagerly, "I know! I know!" she said, looking as if she was trying to reach the ceiling. "I learned that there are two kinds of cells which are blah blah and blah blah and the blah blah blah blah and that chemical substances blah blah..." Maricia sure had a way of making things boring even more boring. Maricia wasn't actually the smartest (actually far from smartest, yes) but today she seemed eager. Maybe she studied last night... or stole Colten's notebook or something, because the notebook on top of her table didn't have her name scrawled on it...
Adrian glanced at the clock. Seven minutes before the next period, which was recess. Well, she could be a nice teacher and let them go early. Anything to stop this girl from blabbering. Wait, was she even talking about cells? Adrian looked at her and realized she was already reading from the notebook. "And, um, bullet... contains carbon... Another bullet... contains carbon-hydrogen bonds ... Another bullet ... contains metal atoms ... Organic compounds ..." she was saying, a look of utter confusion stuck on her face. "It's recess time, time to go and eat!" Adrian said, cutting her off. Maricia didn't look annoyed though, actually she looked relieved as she stood up. When she put the notebook in her bag, Adrian snatched it with such agility that she didn't notice. She sat down on her desk and opened the notebook, shuffling through it like the comic. When the class emptied (all except for Colten), Adrian called him out and said, "Mavis? Could you come here for a moment?"
ooc: changed my format.

Colt watched Ms.Ward move around the move, she finally admitted that he had the right answer. Colt had a very good memory and was known for being able to reiterate things from straight out the textbook. He was just one of those kids that school came very easy too, he hardly had to work at it. Reading the book once or twice pretty much cemented it in his memory. He wasn’t so lucky in other aspects of his life. Sure he was confident now, but it hadn’t always been like that, and there were still times now when he was in situations that would make him stutter slightly.
He watched as his comic book slid of the desk and hit the floor. He cringed on the inside. He really did love that comic, well he pretty much loved the entire series and had almost every single one. He knew in a few years or so he could make a lot of money if he sold them in a bundle as long as they were in decent conditions. It seemed like this one would not make the cut. He would go home and check out the damage, and if worst came to worst he would have to order another copy from the web.
Ms.Ward plowed ahead with her little review session, and Colten continued to think about his demise that would him in, oh about seven minutes according to the clock on the wall. This time he tuned in and out of the review seeing as he no longer had his comic book, and he had already put away his science text book. He just knew that she would call on him again, he could just feel it.
He didn’t have to wait very long until her eyes landed on him. He was ready for it this time; he wouldn’t be caught by surprise. He would be able to answer anything she threw at him, he was confident about that. Obviously wasn’t going to make it easy though. Colt groaned internally when she asked him such a broad question. Did she want to see if he was capable of reciting the whole chapter to her or something? He was about to open his mouth, his brain formulating every topic he wanted to cover when he was cut off.
He saw Maricia practically jumping out of her chair, begging for Ms.Ward to let her answer. Colt watched the girl open her mouth; talking a mile a minute before Ms.Ward even gave her permission. She seemed to be enthusiastic about it, which made a grand total of one person in the class, hell even Ms.Ward looked like she was dazing off. Colt couldn’t help but grin.
The girl started to fumble around her words a bit as Colt watched in amusement. She opened her notebook and started to read off it, which was pretty much cheating considering this was a review and all. Colt frowned slightly as she continued to fumble her word. The pages she was reading sounded suspiciously like what he had written down in his own notebook. He didn’t really give it too much thought as Ms.Ward cut the girl off and dismissed the class.
Colten sat at his desk as most the class filled out, the loser jock smirking at him in a way that showed Colt that he didn’t forget about what he said. Colten got up slowly and swung his bag over his shoulders. He was walking down the row to the front of the room where the door was when Ms.Ward asked him to stay back. Never in his life had he been so happy. He had a legitimate reason to be late to lunch.
Colt walked over to her desk, casually standing on the other side, his hands in his jeans, his black polo shirt, untucked. He still remembered that Ms.Ward had her own person vendetta against him, but at least he knew she couldn’t smash his face in with a lunch tray, well not as long as she worked here a least.
It was weird being here with her alone. He knew that a lot of the other guys tried to tick her off so that they could see her after class, but he wasn’t one of those guys, and for some reason, being here without the other students made him weary. She was even more intimating now than she was before. He just prayed that she wouldn’t ruin his record.
”Uh..Y-you wanted to see me?” he said his voice stammering at bit. ”I swear I didn’t cheat, I just have a good memory,” he said, his rambling instincts kicking in. His palms were staring to get sweaty inside the pockets of his jeans. He pulled them out and tried to casually rub the sweat off against his pants.
OhOhCee:I love the new layout, and the picture is perfect. I didn't know what more to add at the end, so I just kept it pretty open for you.

so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
Adrian stared as a jock smirked at Colten, obviously to see that he still remembered what Colten told him...whatever that was. Maybe it was something about his hair, which always seemed so neat and nice everyday as if his mother brushed it lovingly each morning. She shrugged, it wasn't her business anyway, she thought as she lightly tapped the large oak table with her fingernails. Come on, faster, faster! She couldn't help but grimace at his speed, others would usually run up to her, say things like "You look wonderful today!" or they'd put on a cool voice and say, "So...Tonight. My house. Feel like it?" And all of them resulted into a raised eyebrow, a forced smile, and a hand pointing to the door. She could see one of them look back and scowl at the fact that Colten was allowed to stay with her alone. If she was a student, they would've been sprawled on her desk by now. Oh, those were the times... But wait, why did she call him again? Er...
”Uh..Y-you wanted to see me?” he said his voice stammering at bit. ”I swear I didn’t cheat, I just have a good memory.”
She raised an eyebrow. Oh, so he thought I called him because I thought he was cheating? she thought, pursing her lips. She really didn't think he was a cheater, based on what his teachers said and the fact that his classmates keep on asking him if they could let them copy. Well, that was what the other teachers said. It was very likely.
"Actually...Mavis," she said, making a mental note to call him by his surname from now on. It wasn't because his name wasn't nice -- because it was -- but because Mavis was shorter. And it sounded more professional. After all, they called her by her surname, why couldn't she do the same? "I didn't call you here because I thought you were cheating. You seem to be too...smart to do so." Wait, did she just compliment him? Well...that was good. Maybe. "I called you because Maricia (she got the name right!) stole your notebook and I wanted to give it back to you." She took the notebook and pushed it towards him. "It seems like the boy in the wrestling team you recently irritated has a crush on her and he probably wouldn't take it too kindly if you tried to take your notebook back.
“I’m just wondering, what did you tell him?” Then she shook her head. “No, no, forget that I asked that.” Her eyes wandered over to his comic, which was on the floor. She picked it up and put it into her drawer, locking it at once so that he wouldn’t try and snatch it. “Your comic, however, stays here with me.” She glanced at him, and showed a smug smile.
A second later, she erased the smile and shrugged lightly. “Are you scared of him?” she asked. But before he could utter a complete word, she said, “Good. You can eat with me. I don’t think he’d try and beat you up when you’re with a teacher, right?” At least they didn't in her old school. They'd act all sugary and sweet, wait for the teacher to leave, then pounce on their prey like a lion to a zebra. And she doubted that it changed in six years.
She stood up then kneeled down to her knees to pick up her bag, which was rather heavy due to the many papers and teacher's materials forced into it. She was already dreading this afternoon, because that was the time she'll have to check all those papers which hardly gave her any perfect scores. But it wasn't afternoon yet, it was recess. And she was inviting him to eat recess with her. And he better say yes if he doesn't want a week of detentions. Haha, blackmail. Why she was planning to blackmail him she had no idea, either. "Be a gentleman and carry my bag?" she asked, smiling but giving it to him before he could say anything once more. She took her books, hugged it to her chest, and started walking before stopping at the doorway. She paused then looked back from her shoulder. "Well?" she asked.

___________________THE GEEKY STUDENT
Colten stood in front of her, trying really hard not to fidget. He had no clue why she might have called him up. Did it have anything to do with calling out the stupid jock? Well he started it. Colt mentally thought of a list of explanations he could shoot at her when she called him out. He didn’t even realize how deep in thought he was until he heard her speaking, though he didn’t really comprehend what she was saying. He zoned back in and listened to her words.
He pretty much missed the first part of her speech but she pulled a notebook towards him. He glanced down and realized it was his notebook. How the hell did Maricia get her grubby little paws on it? He looked up at Ms.Ward when she casually mentioned how she didn’t think he would want to get it back from loser jock himself, since he was crushing on Maricia pretty hard. ” uh..thanks” he said a bit hesitantly.
Colt looked at her, thinking that maybe she wasn’t as bad as he had previously thought. She even asked him what he said to the other guy, before she changed her mind and decided she didn’t really want to know. Colt just stared at her. She was defiantly not like the other teachers at this school that was for sure. He did however frown when she told him she would be keeping his comic. Okay so maybe she wasn’t that different than the other teachers.
Colt froze as she asked him if he was afraid of loser jock, and before he could compose himself enough to answer her, she told him that he could eat with her instead since he wouldn’t try anything as long as she was there. Colt had to admit that much was true, but what Ms.Ward didn’t know was that if loser jock saw him eating with Ms.Ward he would be even more screwed. Yes it was true loser jock had a major crush on Maricia, but it was nothing compared to the crush he had on this teacher, the one standing in front of Colt now asking him to join her for lunch.
Before Colt could really so much as breathe she handed him her bag, asking him to hold it. It was pretty heavy, but he didn’t complain. She stood by the door waiting for him to acknowledge her. Colt just followed after her in a daze. They walked down the halls in silence before Colt decided on a plan of action. ”So, If I eat lunch with you here, I’m a dead man.” he said honestly. Colt looked at her from the corner of his eye. He knew that she was only trying to help, which was something that hardly happened to him at this school and he didn’t want her to think he didn’t appreciate it, because he did. ” How about we go out for lunch” he said, then realizing how it sounded he tried to back track. ”I don’t mean like go out go out but like go out, as in off school property to like MacDonald’s, but not like a date, just to eat…yeah” he said sounding like a complete idiot.
He walked with her out to the parking lot where he lead her to his silver 1969 camaro. It was his dream car, and his parents had given it to him as a birthday present last year for making the honor roll. It was his baby, and the envy of several jocks. Colt wasn’t a huge car guy, but everyone had a dream car, and Colt was lucky enough to own his. He took the key out of his pockets and opened the trunk and set down her bag, before closing it. He walked back over to her. ”Well as long as I’m already being a gentleman” he said grinning at her before opening the passenger door for her, waiting until she was fully in before closing it and running over to the driver side and getting in.
The radio was on; set to a mix music channel at played a variety of music. He liked a lot of music, so he usually liked the stuff they played on this channel, but he changed it over to a classic rock station when a Miley Cyrus song started to play on the other channel. The drive was pretty quick and in no time he was pulling into the drive-thru of the MacDonald’s. Colt decided it was better to go through the drive-thru rather than going inside, since several of the seniors were known to drop by during lunch. Colt asked her what she wanted and ordered. He pulled out his debt card before she could object and handed it to the person working cash. ”I can’t just half-a** this gentleman thing” he said flashing her another grin as he handed her the food.
He parked the car in the corner before he tore into his food. He loved his car, but he wasn’t one of those guys who would spasm at having a particle of dust floating around in the car. The car had been in pretty bad shape when he got it, and he spent a good portion of the summer helping his dad fix it up. He looked over at Ms.Ward, he didn’t know what to say to her so he took a bite out of his cheeseburger and a sip of his root beer before he opened his mouth. ” I bruised his ego” he said casually as he looked at her. ”I questioned his sexuality.” Colt popped a ketchup covered french-fry into his mouth and moaned at the salty goodness
OhOhCee:Sorry it's a little late.

so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
so tell me darling,
do you wish we'd fall in love?
She couldn't help but grimace when he hasn't said anything. If he were some other boy... She didn't let that line of thought reach its conclusion. Adrian stared at him for a few moments then followed him, still irked about his silence. ”So, If I eat lunch with you here, I’m a dead man.” She paused; she hadn't really thought of that before. Hmm, was he going to be a dead man? ...Yeah, he'll probably be. The thought made Adrian give herself another small, smug smile. "Yeah, maybe," she said, hopefully dismissing it. She had a feeling where this was going and...She. Wanted. To. Eat. Here. Not because the food was delicious -- because it definitely wasn't -- but because she had a class right after recess and she did not want to be late. No, Mary-Adrian Ward is never late. Never ever ever ever. And then he said it, those twenty -- or something -- words. She opened her mouth, planning on telling him that she had changed her mind and has decided to eat by her own. But the words mixed and jumbled and changed in her mouth and what came out was, "Oh, sure. I love McDonald's." Damn. Wasn't she supporting Jollibee?
If Adrian didn't have self-control, she could've squealed like a teenage cheerleader when she saw the 1969 Camaro. Her father had one, and she remembered that it had always stayed in their garage, gathering dust and being ignored because of the nicer, much shinier cars. And then suddenly her father blurted out that he was selling it last year. She always liked that car and when she was younger, she'd sit on it and pretend she was a race car driver. Of course, it wasn't really a car for racing but still... Could it be...? She nodded, unable to conceal her excitement as she hurried inside the car. Oh, this felt very ... nice.
Adrian closed her eyes as she waited for them to reach McDonald's, which wasn't very long. She felt rather annoyed when he stopped at the drive-thru. Why couldn't they just go inside? But, mmph. It was his car. When he asked her what she liked, she said, "Er...Big Mac combo meal served with French fries and Coca-Cola." She was surprised, though, when he pulled out his own debt card. "Oh no, I could pay," she thought of saying but he paid before she could say anything. "T-Thank...you," she said, slightly stuttering, staring at him.
Her eyes became slits when he started eating. Don't eat in my car, she thought furiously. Of course, she wasn't entirely sure if it was her car but still.
And then there was silence. It was weird, seeing a 'nerd' sitting comfortably in his car, eating and a teacher, looking wary as she hesitantly started eating. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Adrian suddenly felt very awkward and was relieved when he spoke. "Really?" she said, not at all interested about the kid's ego or his sexuality. "That was...brave of you. I don't think he was used to that at all." She took another bite of her burger, and nearly choked when he let out a moan. How many times has she heard that particular sound? Plenty, plenty of times. She blinked rapidly and practically swallowed her burger, in a rather big hurry to finish.
"You know," she began, wondering why the hell she was making conversation, "my dad owned a car like this once. He sold it last year." If only she had bothered to even look at the plate number. She had seen it for years, but she never even bothered to memorize the damn plate number? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

___________________THE GEEKY STUDENT
Colt glanced around the car; his hands were resting on his legs, his foot taping impatiently. What had he been thinking? He was out to lunch with his friggen teacher. No wonder they called him a dork. If this wasn’t the definition of dork, he had no clue what was. He looked over at Ms Ward, who looked about as comfortable as he was. Wasn’t this against the rules or something?
He opened his mouth to say something, but he was relived when she started talking instead. He frowned a bit at her words. ”Um, well my parents bought the car for me as I present so I don’t quite know who the previous owner was, but I can find out for you if you want?” he offered as he tried to think if his dad ever mentioned the name of the guy he bought it off of. ”It was in pretty bad shape when we first got it, it practically took the whole summer to fix up,” he told her as he popped another french-fry in his mouth.
He had replaced the old car radio with a much more high-tech sound system he got from best buy with his employee discount. He was able to install it himself since that pretty much what he did all day after school anyways. He was a part of Best Buys Geek Squad, which basically entailed helping people fix their technology problems, whether it was computes, laptops, cell phones, radios, i-pod and even TV’s.
Colt looked over at his teacher, and noticed that she had finished eating. What the hell were they suppose to do now? There was still about half an hour left in the lunch hour. He guessed that they could just go back to school. He could just sit in his car until third period started. He put the keys in the ignition and started the car. He drove over to the corner of the parking lot and threw the garbage out the window and into the garbage cans that had been put out. In no time they were back on the road.
”It’s cool that you eat,” Colt said randomly into the silence. ”Usually girls are all picky about eating anything with carbs, which is completely stupid, but it’s cool that you don’t care about eating carbs.” he told her honestly. He knew she probably wouldn’t care about his opinion. What would it matter to her that the biggest geek in the senior class thought she was cool for eating, for all he knew, he might of just insulted her. Colt had no experience when it came to girls, and the fact that he most likely was making a fool of himself in front of his teacher was about as lame as it could get. Before he could really start concentrating on his lack of experience with the female sex, he felt his phone vibrating.
To; Colt
From; Josh
Yo Colten!
Get you a** down to Queen and James street.
Auto just got the special edition Batman comic.
It’s intense, you don’t want to miss it
See yah in ten.
Colt grinned down at the message. Now he wouldn’t have to sit in the car for the next thirty minutes. He turned to look at Ms Ward. ”Ms Ward, thanks for saving my life” he said with a small laugh. ”One of my friends just told me about the new special edition batman comic that just came out, so I’m going to go check it out, but I’ll see you tomorrow in science or something” he said barely holding in his excitement about the comic as he pulled into the school’s parking lot.
He was sure Ms Ward was thankful to get away from him, and she probably had better things to do than spend time with a nerd. It was hardly like he was blowing her off or anything, and anyways, this was batman we were talking about. ”I’ll open the truck so you can get your bag” he told her as he parked the car by the front doors so she didn’t have to walk far. He watched her from his rear view mirror, then quickly sped away as she closed the truck.
OhOhCee:You can do a time skip to the next day , or maybe a few days later, and we can introduce the new student.

"Really?" she said airily, taking a bite from her food. "My dad didn't take good care of it either. It practically stayed in our garage for its whole life. I even gave it the name Copper," she added, grinning. (At first she wanted it to be Gold, but Copper sounded nicer)
She nodded slowly at what he said. Was that a compliment? Er... it probably was. "Um, thanks," she said, wondering why he just said that. But honestly, Adrian didn't care about eating carbs. Okay, that wasn't so honest. She did, but not like some girls who freaked out whenever they did and scamper to the bathroom. Actually, Adrian loved eating. Supposedly, you are to eat three meals a day but for Adrian, you have four. Carolyn Jody (she's not very thin) was always surly about the fact that her sister had a very good metabolism.
And then something vibrated. Adrian instinctively stuffed her hand into her pockets, before realizing that it was Colten's. She stared as he answered it while driving. Wasn't that illegal or something? Shrugging it off, she leaned towards him and grabbed a sneak at the cellphone. She wasn't able to read it properly, but she did see the word 'Batman'. Adrian was never a fan of Batman. Superman for the win!
She couldn't help but feel slightly irritated at his happiness. He seemed eager to just leave her alone and check some damn Batman comic. Grr. He looked excited, much more excited than when she practically asked him out for lunch. Double grr. "You're welcome. I hope he doesn't beat you up the moment he spots you later." She stopped a smile. "I hope you (DON'T) get the (********) comic."
She stood up and left the car, walking to the trunk as she took her bag. She backed a few steps and stared longingly as the car sped away.
A WEEK LATER...
And then it was Tuesday once more. Just yesterday Adrian was told by the principal that a new student was being moved to her class. She cringed inside, wondering if the girl was one of those raucous ones who were too ... 'independent' to be controlled by their helpless teachers. But the principal assured her the girl was not like that, actually she was quite the opposite. That confused Adrian. Why would they move someone like that? And to her class? Which was probably more loud and confusing than her old one? But she didn't disagree. Heavens knows she needs more good students in her class.
"She'd probably be arriving in a few minutes so--" she was saying, but she was interrupted by three rapt knocks on the door. She paused for a moment, then opened it. What greeted her was a petite, blue-eyed girl with dirty blond hair and red glasses. The two stared at each other before the girl said, "...Miss Ward? I'm Gemma. Gemma Arable. Miss Parkinson told me I was going to be, um, (she probably didn't like to use the word 'moved') studying here." It took a moment for Adrian to remember what Gemma was talking about. Oh right, she was the new one. Adrian opened her mouth to reply but she was interrupted by a girl right beside them.
"Hey, Mavis! Looks like you've got another member of your little dork gang!" Gemma turned red. "Wow, Arable! Your shabby little clothes are even worse than my maid's!" She turned even redder, if that were still possible. Suddenly, the once quiet class became full of murmurs, chuckles and rude statements about Gemma. Just like what they usually did with Colten. But Colten is a boy and Gemma is a girl.
"That's enough," snapped Adrian, looking at them, and immediately the class was quiet. She turned her eyes to Gemma. "Welcome to the class, Gemma. I hope that you'd ... enjoy it here. (She very much doubted that) Why don't you introduce yourself in front of the class? A few facts about yourself?" she added, forgetting how much most students hated doing that. Gemma's eyes widened and she shook her head wildly. "No thanks, Miss Ward!" she said quickly. She, like Colten, didn't want any attention from her classmates . She just wanted to blend in quietly, like a little bug on a large riverbank. Adrian blinked. "Okay then...Um...Sit over there, beside Kelly." Kelly looked outraged and she opened her mouth, no doubt to say something that would make a sharp blow on Gemma's self-esteem. "Er, no, sit beside Demet-- Mavis." she said, pointing to Colten. He was probably the nicest person in this class, so of course she was going to put the new one beside him. Gemma looked where Adrian was pointing and flashed a smile at Colten. She nodded at Adrian, aware that many pairs of eyes were staring at her as she sat down beside him, glancing at him.
"Oooh, we've got a lovey dovey couple here!" shrieked the same girl, obviously saying it as an insult. Adrian silenced her with a cold glance as she started walking to the front of the classroom once more. Gemma was still glancing at him every few seconds. Adrian couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as she tried not to stare at them too much. "Well...To the lesson then," she said, turning to the board, making sure to hear to sneak a peek at the two.
ooc: Ehh ... not really good. Sorry. D:

___________________THE GEEKY STUDENT
Science had just begun, and Colt found himself sitting in back once again. He held back a yawn as he tried to focus on what was going on in the front of the class. He was just really tired because he only got an hour of sleep. First he had to make a house call because some old lady was having trouble with her computer, and she was so thankful that she made him cookies (which were amazing) but he ended up staying there, helping her well past the end of his shift. He finally got home around midnight, then spent the rest of the night studying for the calculus test he just finished writing first period. He was exhausted.
His eyes were closing slowly, and then he shook himself out of it and tried to focus on Ms Ward and her lecture. She was announcing the arrival of a new student to their class. The new student wasn’t here yet, but Ms Ward seemed to be prepping them for the arrival. Just as she was in the middle of saying something there was knock on the door.
Colt watched as Gemma Arable walked in. She wasn’t exactly a new student, she was just being moved into this class, which would make this class that much more bearable in Colt’s opinion. She was on the shorter side, but she was really pretty and super nice. She was also really smart which was a major plus. What’s hotter than a girl with a brain? Colt couldn’t think of much. Well maybe a girl with brains and a love for superhero comics, but it didn't seem like he'd find a girl like that any time soon
Colt rolled his eyes as some of the girls started to make fun or her and call her names. How petty could some people be? Colt would have loved to punch their faces in, but he didn’t? Why? Because he was taught to treat girls with respect, even girls who did nothing to deserve it. All Colt could do was sit and watch them tear the girl apart, biting his lip to prevent him some saying something. The girls he could deal with, no problem, but their testosterone driven boyfriends were another story, especially since he just managed to escape the clutches of loser jock himself.
Ms Ward asked her if she wanted to talk about herself, and he watched Gemma hastily decline the offer. There is nothing a geek hates more than being put on the spot he thought as he leaned back in his chair, no longer feeling sleepy. The appearance of Gemma had shaken him out of it. He watched Ms Ward, as she contemplated where to seat the girl. By this point Colt knew what was coming before it even happened. Imagine his surprise when she said Kelly. Colt looked at her, just as she seemed to change her mind.
In the end Gemma was placed beside him, and she looked happy about it, as he, like every other person in the class was looking at Gemma and was shocked when she smiled at him, like directly at him. What was that about? Colt could feel his palms starting to get wet. He tried not to look at the girl as she came to sit beside him. He could see her looking at him through her peripheral vision. Colt was at a loss of what to do. Girls never paid any attention to him, well not in the positive way like Gemma seemed to be doing. He was treading in new waters now.
Colt tried to pay attention to the board where Ms Ward was writing down some notes, but he could feel the girl’s eyes on him every few seconds. He slowly turned to her direction and looked at her. She was smiling at him. Colt hesitantly returned the smile. ”oh look, it’s geek love” loser jock said, voicing his completely unwanted opinion. He rolled his eyes and gave the boy the finger.
There was something about sitting next Gemma that made him brave, stupid, but brave. Maybe he was trying to act all tough because she was there? He knew that guys were prone to do that. Colt looked back down at his notebook, where the notes were already written for this chapter. He glanced over at Gemma, then over at Ms Ward who looked like she wasn’t playing attention to the back of the class.
”Here” he said as he tossed his notebook to her. ”You can use it to catch up in the class, cause Ms Ward teaches faster than the others.” he told her, taking his hand back and placing it on his now empty desk. ”Thanks Colten” she said beaming at him, and he was left feeling surprised. She knew his name? ”Don’t mention it” he told her as he flushed a bit. ”Do you think I could call you, you know if I need help?” she asked. Colten looked at her stunned. He doubted she would need help, she was practically as smart as he was. He wrote his number down on a slip of paper anyways, and handed it to her. ”Call any time” he muttered, looking back at the front of the room, with a smile on his face.
OhOhCee:It was fantastic, I loved it.
mine was a bit crap, sorry
& I hope you don't mind that I took over Gemma a bit
