Welcome to Gaia! ::

The Krelkan I hit turned around, and gave a small cry, or grunt, of pain. I had hit him! I grinned at him and then before the other one had even figured out what had happened, I turned my laser on him. I shot his hand, the one carrying his pistol. He retracted his hand, as if he had touched a hot stove. They glared at me, and suddenly were charing towards me. The first I shot, a simple laser right through his head. It left a clean hole, you could even see through the other side for a second.

"You little b***h."

I was too slow for the second. This Krelkan moved towards me and almost pinned me. I just barely ducked under his armor, which left a graze on my cheek. I aimed my gun, trying to immobilize him. I managed a single shot to his side, which had him wounded temporarily. The third Krelkan was coming for me now, and I was quick to dodge him. I had to be alert...I aimed the laser, but it was taking longer to charge now. I quickly pounded on the Panic Room.

"Help!" I called, then turned and raised my gun as the Krelkan came closer. I was shaking, hoping I could take down this third one...
"Where are they? The others should be back by now." Deekon was getting audibly irritated, and began cracking his knuckles. He had me in a small prison cell, with a shockproof glass door. I could hear everything he said perfectly, as he could me. I was sat on the stone chair in the centre, and that was the only thing in the cell. There was no bed, no toilet or even a blanket. I imagined anyone who stayed in these things didn't stay here for long.
"Trouble, Deekon?"
"My crew...they were supposed to be here 5 minutes ago. I guess finding the girl proved harder than expected. No matter, I'll find them myself." He pointed at me, and smirked. "Don't go anywhere."
"Can't make any promises." With that, he started walking toward the stairs.
No one came to my aid, and I realized I was alone. Like always. I almost laughed at the irony of it, to have thought there were people who would help me. I was enraged, angry no one was willing to help me. I had killed their damn traitor. I was brought on against my will, with a man I thought I possibly could have developed something with...The image of Vicara embracing him and the look on his face as she did so were enough to send me over the edge.

The laser was recharged, and it fired into the Krelkan's head twice. The metal-clad alien fell onto his back, while his wounded friend reached for his gun. He shot before I could.

The sound deafened me.

The pain...

I grasped my leg and cried out, falling to one knee. I was seeing red, white, and feeling like I was fading. I aimed the laser at the one who shot me, and he fell back.

I had killed four beings today.

I heard footsteps, and looked up to see the last Krelkan. I felt the warm blood around me, pooling. I shook my head, and used my last bit of energy to bang on the door. Much weaker this time.

"Help...please..." The last Krelkan was closing in, and my laser wasn't even half-way to what it needed to be.

I pushed off with my good foot, scooching away from him slowly. The look on his face would have scared anyone, but my vision was hazy. I crawled, hoping if I kept away from him long enough my laser would be charged. I heard the door of the Panic Room open, and saw a figure. Something hit the Krelkan, and he fell. Dead. I was quick to turn to the figure.

"We need to get out of here." I whispered, not sure who I was speaking to.
I leaned against the stone wall of the cell, my mind drifting off onto different subjects. I thought about how Vicky would most likely reject me, how my flirting with her would eventually drive Lav'vi off, how much I owed Re'ton and how none of this would matter, because I was going to die.

I sighed, and walked over to the door. I rest my head against it, and lightly hit it with my fist. Suddenly, the entire ship began shaking, and I was thrown backwards, my head narrowly missing the stone seat. The far right wall of the cell began shaking violently, with dust and rubble crumbling from it. Eventually, the entire wall collapsed in on itself, showering me with dust. I coughed, wiping it out of my hair and off my face. I stood up, and smiled. The wall's destruction had given me clear passage to leave my prison, so I took the opportunity to climb over the rubble and run over to the stairs. I could hear creatures talking, but not in a language I could understand. I could, however, hear panic and anger in their voices. This was evident in their raised tones and precise enunciation of each word. I slowly climbed the stairs, looking upward all the while. I eventually got to a point where I could look up into the ship, and saw at least 20 other Krelkans, all working hard at their stations to keep the ship running. Whatever had hit the ship, had them spooked. There was another impact, and had I not been holding onto the metal railing of the stairs, I'd have been thrown down. One of them spoke into a microphone, alerting all of the crew, and I understood one phrase: asteroid field.

My heart dropped, because I knew our ship would never survive. I needed to get back and move us out of the field.
I had faded out, but now I awoke to the rest of the crew manning the ship. I was ina chair, strapped in, and my leg bandaged hastily. I looked down, seeing a spot of blood where Alfred had been, but not his body. Someone had moved it, and I felt a little relieved I didn't have to see it. Now, Teka and Re'ton seemed to be manning the ship. I could see Vicara out of the corner of my eye, but I ignored her.

There were object in the ship's immediate area. My eyes widened.

"Astroids." The sonar-like navigation they used beeped, and I was starting to shake.

"We have to get Gabriel..." I whispered, and tehre was a murmur of agreement. I waited, watched, and hoped to make it past the astroids.

The ship flew up against the Krelkan's, and instantly, I was up, and limping towards the loading dock.

Gabriel had to see us...he had to come...
Slowly and silently, I sneaked through the corridor, toward the boarding tunnel. I had to make it; the others didn't know where to go.

Suddenly, an extremely loud siren went off. I looked behind me, and as I did, 25 extremely angry Krelkan warriors all made eye contact with me. The one closest to me let out a horrifying roar, and charged towards me. The others imitated the sound and followed suit. I felt my skin turn white and my heart skip a beat as these indestructible beasts ran straight at me. Turning back around, I ran as fast as I could toward the tunnel. I'm a fast runner, but nowhere near as fast as a Krelkan. I could hear them all right behind me; I could hear the first one breathing right in my ear. I leaped toward the door, and was suddenly smashed from behind. There were a subsequent three more impacts upon me, and I knew they'd caught up to me. They gored me straight through the glass tunnel door, and I felt glass stab itself into my arms, chest, legs and face. I was thrown off, and landed face down half way across the tunnel. I was in an unbelievable amount of agony, and my vision was hot and blurry. I could feel tears streaming from my eyes due to the pain, and any movement I made just pushed the shards of glass further into my body. I took one last look at the door to the place I'd called home for the past 10 years and closed my eyes.
We all heard the roars, the echoes trailing down the hall. I was shaking, and when the glass was heard breaking I was almost inconsolable. It was then, that I heard something, and quickly went to the door. I gasped, seeing a severely bloody Gabriel just outside of it. I turned back to the crew, my eyes wide.

"It's Gabriel!" I had hardly said it when the males came and opened the door. Quickly they pulled him inside and laid him down on a cot before returning back to their stations. We still had the asteroid field to worry about...

I looked at the bloody Gabriel, and tears began falling down my face. He looked horible, and I was almost scared to touch him.
"Have you ever been on a ship, Davie?"
"Yeah, once. But it didn't go anywhere, I was only delivering something."
"Cool! Did it look really cool from the inside like in the movies?"
"Yeah, it sure did. I was gonna take some pictures for you, but they didn't let me."
"Awww."
"I know, man, I know. Hey, get some rest. Big day tomorrow."
"Alright! You're the best big brother ever!"
"Heheh, alright. You get some sleep. I need to go and do something quickly."
"Where are you going?"
"Doesn't matter, I'll be back."
"You promise?"
"Gabe, I'll be right back. You won't even know I'm gone. I promise."
"Okay. G'night, Davie."
"Goodnight, Gabe." He stroked my hair, and stood up. Without looking back, he walked out of the small hut we called home. I closed my eyes and pulled the covers over myself, safe in the knowledge that my older brother would come back. He'd be waiting for me in the morning, and we'd go fishing, just like he promised.

I always wanted to go fishing.

He promised me.
The ship barely made it out of the field. The sides were struck, and scraped, but it didn't seem like anything that couldn't be fixed. As for the Krelkans? Their ship had been hit too badly...and try as they might, they were hit full force by the field. It was an odd turn of events, really.

I looked at the good luck charm on my wrist and wondered momentarily...

I had been by Gabriel, and under the instruction of the others, was carefully picking glass out of his armsand face. Every so often I paused, staring at his face.

"You're safe, Gabriel." I whispered, ignoring my own wounds. They were not as threatening as his. I sat for hours, carefully picking the glass out with help from the others, and soon Gabriel was gashed up and his wounds dressed.

I never left his side.
Black suddenly turned to white, as my thoughts started spiraling through my head. I realized it was the lights, and I was probably in the medical room. I tried opening my eyes, but it hurt too much to do so. Slowly but surely, I could feel my fingers and legs moving, indicating I was able to do so. I still couldn't open my eyes, mostly due to the impact when I landed on my head. I thought I could hear someone breathing, but I didn't know who.

I managed to mutter something. "What....who's there....?"
I was waiting patiently for him to wake, when suddenly I heard his voice. My head snapped in his direction, to his lips. They were moving, and gently I put my hand on his. He wasn't very warm at the moment, and I was. I gently squeezed, maing sure I didn't harm him. He was fragile right now, although he hardly was when he was not in such a weakened state. I almost smiled as I leaned closer, tears trailing down my cheeks.

"It's Lav'vi." My voice was shakey, and I felt the tears coming faster. "You're back on your ship, we removed the glass...we're heading for a colony to repair the ship."
"Oh....it's great to hear your voice..." I said, the last word trailing off, because the sentence was still too long and hurt my head to say. I felt her hand on mine, and managed a smile. Slowly, I opened my eyes, and my vision began to focus on Lav'vi. Her blue and green eyes twinkled in the light, and her hair made the vision even more beautiful. I managed to sit up, and clasped her hand in mine. I moved my legs off the bed, so I was sitting right next to her. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster as I leaned in, and kissed her gently on the cheek. I placed my other hand on her cheek, and then on her arm.

"Thanks for being here."
"Gabriel, you shouldn't be---" I paused, feeling his face closer to mine as he sat up. Part of me wanted to tell him to take it easy, but the other half wanted to see what he would do. Soon, I found out why he had sat up. I felt his lips on my cheek, so warm, gentle... I closed by eyes, letting a shiver run down my spine as he touched me. I opened my eyes slowly when I realized what was happening.

"Y-you're welcome..." I stood up abruptly, and paced for a moment before turning to him. "I'm...I'm going to water get...I mean, get you some water." My cheeks were a deep shade of red as I exited the medical room to look for water and to calm my heart.
I just sat there, smiling for what seemed like an eternity. It was the first time I'd ever kissed anyone. It felt as though all the weight in the world had been lifted from my shoulders. This was all I ever wanted. Why it was so ******** impossible to get before, I don't know. Women just never had time for me. But this was.....great. I'd never felt like this for anyone before. I really think I might be in....

My heart skipped a beat, and the colour drained from my face. "No..." I'd suddenly remembered the last thing Deekon had said to me.

"My crew...they were supposed to be here 5 minutes ago. I guess finding the girl proved harder than expected. No matter, I'll find them myself. Don't go anywhere."

He never came back onto the ship. I know that, because I left via the only exit. He was still on the Razor. "No, no, NO, NO!" I stood up, my legs struggling to keep me upright. I opened the door and left the medical room, and bumped into Re'ton on the way there. He opened his mouth with a stern look on his face, but I interrupted him before he could scold me for leaving.
"Deekon....Deekon's still on the ship." Re'ton frowned, and then shared my fear once he realized I was telling the truth. We begin our journey to the lower part of the ship.
