Welcome to Gaia! ::

Re'ton piped in from behind her. "Yeah, I thought so. Hinuts are stupid creatures, but they aren't ones to harass women for no reason. Plus, your eyes." I moved my gaze from Re'ton back to Lav, and tried to think what she meant. I got that she had a vision about me and Vicaria, but I didn't understand why.
"What do you mean? You saw me and Vicky....and heard someone getting killed?" Re'ton shrugged.
"Well, it's gonna be either me or Al." I was perplexed by the Daesda's lack of concern.
"Re'ton, you're not afraid?" He smiled at me, and it made part of me feel better.
"Of course I'm afraid. But now I can expect it. And so can you guys." He had a point, but I was still confused.
"What can we do about it?" I asked Lav. I was hoping she had some kind of answer, but didn't hold my breath. I can imagine the burden of such a gift would make it hard to think.
I listened to Re'ton and sighed, before listening to the men exchange words. My gaze fell back to Gabriel as he addressed me, and I stared back at him for a long moment before answering. "You have to be careful...I don't know if it can be avoided...I've never had any visions of mine altered." I looked at Re'ton and felt a deep sadness in my heart. "I hope it's no one in your crew." I whispered, and then took a step back from them both.

"I have never visioned anything about people I have met, before." That excluded the vision of my parents' death the day before we received word. "I wonder...if perhaps if this is supposed to happen. Destined, if you will. My meeting you all."
"Then you'll come with us."

Re'ton and I turned to see Alfred standing in the doorway, dressed only in his boxer shorts. It suddenly hit me that he'd heard everything.
"Al, you can't force her to come with us." He stepped towards me, and pointed a finger in my face.
"Hey, one of us is gonna die and I want to know who it is. Maybe she'll have another vision, help us avoid it." Re'ton stepped forward, and shook his head.
"It doesn't work like that, sir. She's lucky she even had this one." Alfred pursed his lips, before speaking again.
"Doesn't matter. We'll not take our chances, especially if it means me, you or even Teka dying. She's coming with us, and that's final."
"Al, you can't force her to do anyth-" He stepped forward again, getting right into my face.
"I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP THIS CREW ALIVE!" There was an awkward silence, and I turned to Lav again.

"I, uh.....I guess you're coming with us."
I crossed my arms, my mismatched eyes gazing at Alfred in an openly defiant manner. "You're taking me against my will?" I stepped up to the bald man, my shakiness gone. Men didn't scare me. I then shook my head, and laughed a little in spite of the situation and his obvious hot temper.

"Fine...I'll go. Only if I am able to get my things from my ship, and am reimbersed for my time and lost profits." I scanned his face, making sure my face showed i would not be swayed from my conditions.
I didn't know what Alfred was going to do, nor how he would react. I was surprised when he smiled, and agreed.
"Of course you can, babe. You go right ahead and get your things. Hell, why don't we leave right now?" Re'ton raised an eyebrow and looked out the window.
"Are you serious? At 5 in the morning?" Alfred nodded, laughing.
"Damn straight! Tomorrow's Sunday, marketplace will be packin' up and leavin'. We leave now, we miss all that traffic and it'll be easier to jump to hyperspace. Haha!" He turned on his heels, and walked back into his room, closing the door. Re'ton and I looked at each other, confused as hell. I was the first to speak.
"What in the name of ******** was that about?"
I waited, almost nervously, for Alfred's reaction. When at last he agreed to my terms, I smiled at him and nodded. "Alright, then I'll get my things." I looked at Gabriel, and then walked out the door and to my room. If one of them followed me, then fine.

I gathered my few things from the hotel room, and then grabbed the insert to my cargo ship. I got inside, and was almost excited to be leaving the damn thing. I picked up my clothes, throwing them into a worn suitcase, along with my few posessions and finally closed it. Enough to keep me happy, and all my dearest things. Quietly I turned from my ship...
I watched her from around the corner, and was both relieved and upset that she hadn't just started up her ship and left. I sighed, and put my back against the wall. In my peripheral, I saw purple and green, turning to see Vicky standing there. She was rubbing her hands, obviously nervous. I stepped over to her, and put my hands over hers.
"You okay, sweetheart?" She looked up at me and smiled. She was a few inches smaller than me, but still had to look up at me.
"Yes. I just don't want any of us to die."
"Hey, that's why Lav's coming along. She'll help all she can, I promise." She raised an eyebrow at me.
"And how do you know this, Gabriel?" I shrugged.
"Got a good feeling about her. I always did have good instincts when it came to women." Vicky pulled her hands from mine, and moved her hair out of her eyes.
"I'll wait for you on the ship, Gabriel. Don't be long." I smiled, and gave a small salute.
"Ah, don't you worry, sweetheart. I'll be right over."

I watched her walk over to the next hangar, where our ship was. I turned back to Lav'vi's ship.
I got off my ship, my home for the past 7 years, and with a sense of loss I moved to the enxy hanger. There, I saw Vicara moving away from Gabriel, and suddenly felt even worse. I acted as if I had not seen a thing, and made my way towards Gabriel. I was no longer in a skimpy night dress. I was in basic, form-fitting bottoms and a roomy jacket. I tilted my head at the dark-skinned man as I lugged my suitcase over.

"So, lead me to your humble abode." My tone was light, and I offered him a slight smirk. "So, you and Vicara...?" I started, prying for conversation's sake.

Purely conversation's sake, of course.
"What? No, no! It's...." I sighed, and turned to walk to our hangar, knowing Lav was following. "It's not like that." I said, with a hint of disappointment. I could go on for hours telling her what I felt for Vicky, and how I've felt like that for 8 long years, never having the courage to tell her how I felt. I didn't want to ever tell her, because every other relationship I had between now and then never worked because the girl wanted to stay friends.

She never meant it, of course. Vicky and I had been friends for so long, it'd never work. I just tried to explain in a way Lav might get, without making myself look like an idiot.
"I've known her for so long. We met on Quiim, when we brought her people water during a drought. She told us how she wanted to travel the stars, no matter what. I was 18 then, and so was she. I always thought she was beautiful, but we had such a great friendship, you know? And if she didn't feel the same, that relationship would be broken forever. I could never risk that. I'd only tell her if I knew, but women can get so damned friendly and I get the wrong message." We reached the hangar door, and I brought my boring story to an end. "Sorry, I must be boring you. That s**t just means so much to me."
"If you never tell her, then you'll never know if there could be something more. What if's are the worst thing to face in life." I said softly, listening to his words. I had liked a few men, but it never went anywhere. If he had the chance, he should take it...bit to be honest, I was intrigued by Gabriel to an extent that was more than friendly. I didn't know why...maybe it was because he had been kind to me, helped me...

He'd been decent.

As Gabriel apologized, I held up my hand. "It's fine, really. Whenever you need to speak, I am here. You and Re'ton helped me...I owe you both." I heaved my suitcase into the ship as we came upon it, and looked back at Gabriel with a soft look.

"Of course, you don't have to talk to me just because you owe me. Maybe we'll be friends in time."
"Thanks." I meant it, too. We stepped up the ramp into the main hull of the Razor, and I was immediately hit with that feeling of home. The Razor wasn't a pretty ship, nor was it strong. But it was goddamn fast, and that's why we loved it. The inside of the ship was brown and grey; metal everywhere. As soon as we stepped up the ramp, we were looking through to the stairs leading to the cockpit. To the left was the briefing room, and to the right, the sleeping cabin.

Already I could hear Re'ton banging and drilling away at something. I held out my hand to Lav, offering myself as a guide to the cockpit. "You ready?"
I looked up to the inside of the ship, and was instantly in awe. I studied the inside for a long moment, and assumed I must look like a child seeing their first alien. I took a moment to shake he feeling off, and looked away to the superior ship. I then saw something in my line of vision, and was taken back.

I saw Gabriel's hand.

My mismatched eyes wandered up to Gabriel's face, and I looked for any cruelty there, waiting to make a joke of me. I saw none.

Slowly, with a small smile, I raised my hand and placed it in his. It was warm, and smoothe, just as I thought. I felt my cheeks glow slightly, and knew I had turned a little pink.

"Yes, we shall. Lead the way."
I brought her through the warm, metal corridor and up the steps into the main cockpit. As expected, Al, Teka and Vicky were all up there, waiting. Al swiveled in his chair to face us, with a big grin on his face.
"Alright, team! We're movin' out. Vicaria, route all power into the main engines. Teka, set co-ordinates for 5-12-54-98-5." Vicky and Teka replied with an almost simultaneous "Yes, sir". Al clapped his hands together and pointed at me. "You!" I held my free hand up and nodded dismissively.
"I know, I know." I had to let go of Lav's hand to get to work, as much as I almost regretted doing so. I sat down in a seat in front of a computer screen, and gestured to the seat beside me.
"Sit here, if you want. Just until we get into hyperspace, then you can get up and walk around."
I felt my hand lose the warmth of Gabriel and slowly moved away. I slid into the seat beside him, and gazed around at the other members. Vicara was still beautiful, Re'ton had my respect, Albert was obviously not one to be messed with and Teka was still a mystery to me. I sat back, my suitcase tucked behind my feet, and waited for the ship to take off.

"3...2...1..." I murmured to myself and placed my hands on teh arm rests.
Suddenly, the ship's loud engines became quiet. I looked at Alfred, who was holding his arms out in confusion. He swiveled in his chair once more.
"RE'TON!" The Daesdan stood up and walked over to a large pipe leading into the bottom of the ship, and gave it a swift kick. With that one strike, the engines were given new life, and the ship vibrated even stronger. With a slight lift off the ground, the ship blasted through the force field keeping the air in, and into the wide, open universe.

I keyed in a few commands into the computer, and signaled to Re'ton, who pressed a sequence of three buttons, and with that, there was a massive lurch forward and everything turned white.
As the light died down, we were in a tunnel of blue and white hyperspace, traveling at God knows what speed. Alfred cleared his throat and pointed upwards, still facing the main window.
"At ease, ladies." Vicky was the first to stand up, and she walked towards me, smiling.
"Gabriel, come with me. I want you to help me with something." I got that feeling in my stomach again, and felt pretty happy.
"Uh, sure!" I said, trying not to sound too excited. Vicky turned to Lav'vi, rubbing her hands excitedly.
"Come with us, Lav'vi. Please, it would mean so much to me."
