Welcome to Gaia! ::

I had fallen on my hands and knees now, cornered. I closed my eyes, not caring if I died at that moment or not. Sometimes the lonliness just consumes you, and I realized that no one would miss me if that horrible creature did murder me then and there. I was expendable, I was always expendable. I was readying myself for the inevitable when suddenly two voices broke through the silence of the night, and my pounding heart.

I opened my eyes and saw the two men, not realizing who they were. I was shaking, and the gash on my side was beginning to dry. It became sore as I moved, and then watched the Hinut leave. The one man must have threatened him, because he shot me a death glare...

My mismatched gaze rose to the voice beside me, and I recognized the face. "Gabriel." I said breathlessly, shocked and glad all at once. I looked to my side and then bit my lip after a moment and scrambled to my feet with a noticeable wince.

"Nothing I can't fix myself." I said, gesturing towards the blood on my corset top. The light green material had been stained red in a small area. I looked to Gabriel's companion and nodded to him.

"Thank you..."
"No, no, you're coming with us. We have a medic and I'd much rather we have her check it out than you try to do anything by yourself." I helped her to her feet, and put her arm over my shoulder. I turned to Re'ton, smiling. I had to ask. "So, uh....all of that stuff about the shock pistol. That true?" The Daesda gave a cheerful laugh and shook his head.
"Damn thing can barely break a window. That science crap worked though, huh?" I smiled and looked forward, still walking toward the hotel.
"Sure did." I tried to look at Lav to make sure she was okay, but being so close to her, I wouldn't have been able to without putting my face up against her's. Instead, I just asked and hoped she knew I was addressing her.
"How you doin', sweetheart? Hangin' in there?"
I opened my mouth to protest, trying to explain that I was fine by myself. What shut me up was the fact that being alone had been what got me into the mess with the Hinut in the first place. Reluctantly I went along with Gabriel, letting him help me, even though I could walk somewhat okay on my own. I might as well let him feel like a man by helping me out and being the stronger one.

As he addressed me, I lifted my head slightly and nodded. "I'm quite concious, you know. A gash to the side is hardly immobilizing or fatal." I then turned to look at him, to give him a stern look. My face was too close to his, I could feel the warmth of his cheek. Quickly I turned to face the front again, and hoped to the Stars my face wasn't pink.
"Alright, just checkin', just checkin'..." I said quietly, more focused on the walk than replying. I felt my stomach fill with butterflies when she turned to face me, but tried to keep my mind off it. Re'ton was walking slightly ahead, talking mostly to himself, as he often did.
"You should probably get some rest for that injury. It always helps Al and Gabe when they get hurt. Which is quite often, if you ask me. I don't do any of the shooting stuff. Just a mechanic. It's what I'm good at, you know? I could do some of the merc work, though. I just rather wouldn't, because, you know, it's dangerous, right? I can't remember the amount of times Gabe's come back with some kind of injury that has him screaming in pain. No sir, not for me. I'll just stay on the ship and fix the faulty hyperdrive. Breaks every damn d-"
"Re'ton!" He stopped, and turned around to find himself fifteen feet from the entrance of the hotel, and from Lav and I. He laughed at himself, which I've always admired. The great thing about him is that no matter how much of a fool he makes himself look, he could always see the funny side of it, something the other four of us couldn't.

Speaking of the fourth, I began wondering if Teka was okay on the ship by himself. He was probably just sleeping, like always.

We stepped into the lift, and it began taking us up to the fourth floor.
I kept my eyes ahead from that moment on, feeling the awkwardness creep over me. When Re'ton began speaking, I listened half-heartedly, my mind elsewhere. I was thinking of how I could convince the two to let me go to my own room and bypass meeting the rest of the crew. I was never one for liking crowds, and so the prospect of being around Gabriel's entire mercenary crew was a little unsettling. I tried to think rationally, that I owed them for saving me from further damage from the Hinut...

And so I followed them onto the lift.

"So...how many of there are you?" I asked after a moment, my eyes were growing heavy. I was already getting tired.
I could hear the weariness in her voice, and wondered if it was due to exhaustion or caution.

"Uh, only five of us. There's me; Re'ton you've met, he's our Mechanic; Vicky, our medic; Alfred, the captain and Teka, our pilot. All nice people, so you've nothing to worry about." Re'ton cleared his throat and leaned over to Lav.
"Uh, except maybe Teka. He's an old guy, so he's quite adverse to meeting new people." I shook my head and frowned at him, wondering why he'd bring it up.
"Re'ton, he's on the ship. Teka NEVER leaves the ship, and I don't think Lav'vi wants to come with us."

The elevator stopped, and the doors opened.
"By old, do you mean prejudiced?" I asked, my mismatched eyes watching Re'ton closely. Everyone knew, especially the older generations, had an issue with mixing. I looked at the doors as they opened and slowly stepped forward, taking Gabriel with me. I muffled a yawn with my feee hand, and then tried to put my game face on to mask my exhaustion and pain.

"Time to meet the gang?"
Re'ton laughed and nodded. "Probably. I can't tell you how long it took him to accept Vicaria as a member of the crew."

I opened the door, and the room was pitch black. I could see Vicky on the left side of the room underneath her duvet, and could hear Alfred snoring loudly in the room to the right. I switched the light on, and heard an audible moan coming from Vicky's bed. She sat up, looking exhausted, with her usually beautiful, white hair in a complete mess on top of her head. She looked over to us, and saw Lav'vi clutching at her side. She climbed out of bed, and attempted to straighten her hair with her hands as she walked over to us. She cast a quick smile at me, and I got that familiar feeling in my stomach.

Vicky placed her hands on Lav's cheeks and looked into her eyes. I guess she was checking for any further damage, but I never asked. Finally, she spoke.
"What happened?"
"Uh, Hinut." Vicky bit her bottom lip for a second, and nodded.
"Mm-hmm....she should be fine. It's just a flesh wound, she just needs a dressing and some rest." She stepped back, and looked me up and down for a second. She smirked, and asked another question.
"What about you, Gabe? You get hurt down there?" I wasn't sure what she meant by "down there", so I assumed she meant down in the market. I cleared my throat, and dusted myself off, trying to keep my cool.
"Nah, you know me. We got in there and defused the situation. Not harm done." At the last sentence, she raised an eyebrow, and I realized what I'd said. "Oh! Uh, except this."

She finished applying the dressing to Lav's injury and pointed to my bed.
"You can sleep there. I'm sure Gabe doesn't mind sleeping in the chair." She said, pursing her lips and raising her eyebrow once more.
I watched Vicara with a careful gaze, studying every movement of the Litaq. She was beautiful, like I remembered, and I could feel Gabriel tense up beside me as she approached. I felt that was something I didn't care to touch upon, and so I listened to their conversation. When they finished, I allowed the Litaq woman to dress my wound, and waited patiently for her to finish.

At last I was done, and so I moved towards the door as she spoke. "That's not necessary." I said, shaking my head at the them. "I have a bed I paid for already...if you don't mind. Thank you, though. For everything." I put my hand on the doorhandle, and turned to look at Gabriel...and a slight feeling of regret washed over me.
Vicky's gaze turned from amused to disappointed. I'm sure she would have looked forward at finally being able to talk to another woman. I realized that Lav had indeed spent the money, and it would be a waste for her to stay here. As much as I wanted to talk to her more, I knew she had other things to do.

So did we.

Vicky held out a hand, as if trying to stop her from walking away. "Please, don't go! You can stay, it's fine!" I put my hand on hers, and shook my head.
"C'mon, Vicky. She's got stuff to do, we've got stuff to do. We're leaving early in the morning anyway, and we'd be disturbing her when all she needs is rest." She looked at me with her hypnotising green eyes, giving me a puppy dog look. I feel awful, but I can't please both women, no matter how much I want to.
I saw the Litaq woman's face fall, and the disappointment in her eyes. I felt a tinge of guilt, but I wasn't wasting the little money I earned. Plus, all my clothes were in my room a floor down. "Thank you for the offer." I said, nodding to the beautiful Vicara before slowly turning back to the door. "Maybe another time..." The odds of my meeting them again were slim, but then again...it was a small universe these days.

I turned the knob, and put a hand on my side as I exited the room. The door clicked shut behind me. I moved towards the turbolift and pressed the fading 3...waiting for it to take another passenger to his destination before it came to me.
"Why did you do that?!" Vicky said, pushing me. She looked visibly angry at me, which really hurt to see.
"What?" I asked, honestly not realizing what I'd done. She gritted her teeth and pushed me again, twice this time.
"The first time in 4 years I might actually have a conversation with someone other than you men and you scare her off! What is the matter with you?" I felt frustrated that as usual, the blame was being cast primarily on me.
"Hey, I didn't do s**t! You heard what she said; she already has a ******** room!"
"You could have asked her to stay for me!" I opened my mouth to retort, and noticed through her anger, tears were streaming down her cheeks. I felt absolutely ******** awful. I stepped toward her, and she hit me in the chest with her fist. I kept moving closer to her, opening my arms to hug her. She kept hitting me, and eventually just fell into my arms, sobbing quietly. She returned the hug and just held on to me tightly, trying her best to keep her crying quiet. I looked over to Re'ton, who had a look of concern and pity on his face, and I held Vicky closer.
"I'm sorry."
"I know."
"I'm sorry."
"I know, I know." I pulled her over to her bed, still holding her. I guided her onto the mattress, and she pulled the duvet over her. I watched her for a minute, as she drifted off into sleep, before making my way to my own bed. Re'ton tapped me on the shoulder as he stepped out of the room. Being a Daesda, Re'ton required no sleep and also acted as a watchman for us all. I sat on the edge of my bed, face in my hands.
I finally made it to my room, where I was greeted by silence. As usual. I sighed, changed into clean clothes, and collapsed on my bed in tears. Even when I tried to make friends, or had the chance to, I still pulled away. I closed my eyes, and let sleep overtake me for a few hours. After two hours, I suddenly woke up from a horrible vision.

I had the ability to see glimpses of the future, due to being a Star Watcher. In my vision I had seen Gabriel, the Litaq...and seen flashing lights. There faces were shocked, and then there was a cry of pain. I sat up, and quickly, and made my way to the turbolift. I found the room on the fourth floor I had left only a few short hours ago and saw Re'ton.

"I need to talk to Gabriel." I said, breathlessly. My eyes were brimming with tears, and I was shaking from anticipation. I hardly noticed I was still in my thin nightdress, and that I probably looked liek a mess after sleeping.
I heard the door opening, and realized I'd fallen asleep as I was; sitting down, face in my hands. Re'ton opened the door, looking pretty frightened. I stood up quickly, and was pretty shocked to see Lav'vi rush in. I walked towards her quickly, wondering why she looked so upset.
"What? What is it?"
I rushed through the doorway, and paused a foot away from Gabriel. I could feel my heart grow heavy, and quickly tried to get out what I had seen. "I saw you ina vision...you and your Litaq friend...lights, and then a cry. I think someone was killed...but you looked surprised." My voice was shaky, and I realized it matched by quivering body. "I see things....I'm part Star Watcher..." i whispered, as if to show my credibility.
