Haruka smiled again, she was finally getting a response! She had a feeling she could get friendly with both of the other girls, but... She glanced at Akiyo. She didn't know why he and his sister didn't get along, but from what Akane had said, she guessed it had to do with their mother, though she wasn't sure of that at all, it was just a guess. It was also clear that Akiyo isolated himself, not only from Haruka, but from his sister and the other girl too. That was a bit stranger, but it wasn't like she couldn't understand. She had an inkling as to why he acted as he did, but she'd watch a bit more and make sure.
She was suddenly hit in the head lightly with a notebook and made a small sound, then looked back at her assailant.
"Welcome home, Haruka," Sakura said warmly, and enjoyed her niece's face lighting up at the sight of her. Haruka had changed a bit in the last two years, Sakura could see, but she still seemed to be the same cheerful girl despite that.
"Sakura!" Haruka said happily, adding a tentative 'sensei' when her aunt raised the notebook threateningly again.
Sakura smiled a little bit helplessly. She walked up so that she could address all four students at the same time. "Haruka I obviously already know. For the rest of you, I'm Sakura Konohana, your new homeroom teacher. I'm not very strict, but I do expect a certain modicum of etiquette when you're in school," she said.
"I'm sure that transferring into a surface school is going to be a culture shock for the three of you, but we've done our best to make that as painless as possible. You'll be transferring into the most Umito influenced class among the first years. There's Haruka, transferring here from the US, who's half Umito, there's Yuki Ito, who's a quarter Umito, and then there's my daughter, Kotone."
Sakura smiled a little. "Kotone is a full-blooded Umito like you three, but she was abandoned here on the surface when she was a baby. She doesn't have any Ena anymore, but she is Umito. Besides her, there are a number of Umito friendly people in the class, and if there are any problems you can talk to one of the class representatives, Yuki Ito or Haruhiko Kazama, or you can talk directly to me. If anything happens, I promise the three of us will do our best to see it resolved. We won't tolerate racism in the class," Sakura continued, ending with a slightly harsher tone, showing that it wouldn't be tolerated from the Umito either.
I don't have much to say other than that. We'll go to the classroom, you'll wait outside the door until I call you in, then you'll introduce yourselves. Easy peasy." Sakura looked up, as if she'd suddenly remembered something. "Right, there's also gym class today. I don't think you brought any gym clothes with you, so it's okay if you sit out today. If you want to join in, we have clothes your size you can borrow."
Sakura looked pointedly at Haruka. "Haruka, I'd like you to sit today out."
Haruka's face turned stubborn. "I'm not going to let my condition decide things like that, sensei!" she said firmly.
Sakura sighed and nodded. That was the kind of person Haruka was, after all.
She looked out to the four assembled people. "If there aren't any questions, we'll head over to the classroom. Though," Sakura said, giving Misa a look. "There are bathrooms if you want to change, first."
