Vincent knocked on the door to the princess's chambers. "Princess, Its time for breakfast." he called through the door. Like usual, he wore his armor. It was made of ebony, making it the black so many people knew it by. Like his sword though, it was enchanted, making it harder than most metals. He stood by the door and waited for a reply. It was odd though, he was good friends with the princess, but he never called her by name.

Naelah

Naelah got out of bed and slipped out of her nightgown. After getting dressed in a long pink dress with a white corset she sat at her vanity and brushed her hair. As she picked up her earings there was a knock at the door. "I'll be right there, Vincent." she called as she finished putting her earings on. Naelah walked ove to the door and opened it. "Good Morning," she smiled.

Vincent removed his helmet as she walked out of the room. "Good morning Princess. How are you doing this morning?" He asked. He felt sorry for her though, he knew about the treaty and what she must do. She deserved better than that. He would protect her though, no matter what happened in her life.

Naelah

"I had a very disturbing dream. We were running through the woods but at we ran the landscape behind us kept disappearing." Naelah replied. They headed downstairs to breakfast. "Maybe we can sneak into the armoury later." she suggested with a mischevious grin. She enjoyed sparring with Vincent.

Vincent thought about her dream a little bit. That could signify them running away from something but it didn't make sense. He shrugged it off a little bit later. "That is a odd dream." He said with a smile. He followed her closely, like normal. Hearing her suggestion, he nodded. "Of course. you know how much I love beating you in a sparing match."

Naelah

"I'm getting better, I may just win one today." Naelah said. She couldn't wait. Unfortunately she had to eat with her family first. The large doors to the dining room were opened by two servants and she headed to her seat. The body guards always ate with the family. At the head of the table sat the king in deep purple robes lined with white leopard fur. "Good Morning, daughter." greeted the king.
"Good Morning." Naelah said softly.
"It looks as though you will be marrying Prince Giovani of Amulace, they have made the best offer so far." The King said as casually as if he were discussing the weather. Naelah's heart sank as she lowered herself into her chair.

"Maybe, but you still have alot to learn." He said as he put his helmet on. He always wore it around the king and queen. It made it easier to hide his emotions around them. Once inside, he stood by the princess as she sat down to eat. Once the king mentioned who she was to marry, he spoke up. "Are we sure he is a suitable husband for the princess?" He asked.

"He has made a very generous offer and the princess is my property to trade as I wish. It is not your place to question my judgement." The King replied a little disgruntled that his choice was being challenged.
Naelah

Naelah looked at Vincent as he spoke. She love it when he stood up for her. The King's reply was no surprise. She blushed as she noticed the whole table was watching her poke at her eggs with the gilded silver fork.

"Of course, she had better bear him an heir as quickly as possible. The treaty becomes even better after the Prince has a son." said the King and chuckled. Her brothers laughed along and the queen gave a nervous laugh.

Naelah was glad when the conversation changed the attention shifted away from her. Her bright red cheeks were starting to loose their color. She smiled to Vincent offering him a pitcher of orange juice. As much as she wanted to thank him for being on her side, the last thing she wanted was to be stared at again.

Vincent frowned under his helmet. "I am protecting the princess, something you hired me to do, My lord. If this man hurts her in any way, He will regret it." He said flatly. In truth, he didn't actually serve the king. He served her. Seeing that she was handing him some orange juice, he smiled. He lifted his visor up slightly so only she could see his face, and reached for a glass. hearing the news of her bearing the mans child, anger appeared on his face.

Naelah

Naelah was glad that someone was on her side. After finishing her juice and a slice of toast Naelah asked "May we be excused, father?" She wasn't very hungry and wanted to leave the room.

"You may. Perhaps you should begin making a tapestry for your new castle." The kind said with a smile.

Naelah rose and gave a curtsy. 'Yeah, right....He doesn't even know that I don't sew. I don't want to marry some foreign prince...' she thought.

Vincent followed her out of the room. Once outside, he clentched his fists. "That man....." He said quietly. "I am so glad I am serving you and not him." He removed his helmet again. "You deserve better." The guards they passed could see the anger on his face and shivered slightly. "I'm sorry Naelah. I didn't mean to lose my temper." he sighed, not realizing he just said her name.

Naelah

"Sometimes I wish I wasn't a princess. He doesn't even -" she started and paused for a moment before a grin appeared on her face. "You said my name," Naelah teased blushing slightly. Vincent had never called her by her name before. She brushed some hair behind her ear gently.

Realizing he had called her by her name, he hesitated for a second. "I guess I did. Sorry, I lost myself." He had to change the subject. Remembering a present he was going to give her on her birthday, he smiled. "I just remembered a present for you." He led her to the armory and went inside. He reappeared with a sword in his hand. It was a katana, like what she used, but shorter. The blade and hilt were made out of ebony, like his armor. "I made this for you."
