Talking to her parents was probably the worst idea and thinking about it made her groan. She really needed to get the conversation out of her head. Iris had a planned ski trip for herself, just some alone time but her parents didn't like that idea and they wanted to come since she had just come home for winter break and they hadn't seen her for a while. Iris was a bit busy at her Music and dance school and once again she just wanted to go skiing by herself and have a trip to herself but nope. Not gonna happen. Her parents had to go. They wanted family bonding time. She also had heard there was a ice skating competition in the town where the hotel she was staying at and she wants to participate in it. She loved to dance and she was excited to add her dancing skill into ice skating. Maybe for some fun she could skate around in the rink and play her violin. People would love that. Iris started playing the violin at a young age, she was with her dad in the music store one day and she just grabbed the instrument and started playing it. Her dad noticed she was having fun and he bought her the violin and let her have lessons. At the age of twelve she started dancing and she was put in dance class, ballroom class and tap dance class. Senior year of high school, she was accepted into the music and dance university in New York. It was an amazing year but also a sad one as she torn herself away from the one she loved most.

As she stared out into the window of the moving car, her thoughts led her to thinking about Brandon. The two were high-school sweethearts. They met Sophomore year and became friends instantly. In the middle of Sophomore year, they started dating and once Senior year had ended It was Iris' decision to end the relationship so she could start her life long dream to be a professional dancer and violinist.She felt bad for breaking up with Brandon but she really wanted to attend the university in New York. It wasn't a few weeks into the semester of the university where she broke down due to the fact that she missed Brandon and wished she did accept, however with the friends she made during the few weeks, they cheered her up telling her everything was going to be okay and she will make her dreams come true and that later on she will be able to see Brandon again. The thoughts of them together would never leave her mind and will always be a permanent memory in her. Tired of looking out the window, Iris glanced at her case the violin sat in and placed a hand on it with a smile on her face. Leaning her head back, the smile disappeared and the female closed her eyes.

Hours passed and she was rudely awoken by her mother tapping her knee telling her to get up cause they made it to the hotel and the ski lodge which happened to be next door to the hotel. Grabbing her violin case, she stepped out of the car and stretched, glancing over at her parents. "You guys go check in...I'm going to check out the competition." The ice dancing wasn't for another two days but she knew there would people practicing on the ice. Her parents nodded at her and walked towards the front entrance of the hotel and she headed in the opposite of the hotel and headed for the ski lodge. As she gazed up at the building, it was pretty big and probably enormous inside. She thought right though, as she stepped inside the double doors, she was met by the smell off coffee and a warm temperature of a huge fireplace in the middle, flames visible and people sitting around it. There were many kiosks. one for Snowboard and Ski lift purchases, another was Ice Skating, another was for good hiking places and the last one was for the ice dance competition. The female looked around to see a flight of stairs that led to an upper level where people sat, looked out a the windows and in the corner was the coffee kiosk. Small but it sure looked packed.

Hazel eyes traveled over to the Ice Dancing kiosk and she headed right for it with a smile on her face "Hello, I'm Iris Marie Littleton and i signed up online." she told the female with the smiling face on, staring at her. The female welcomed her and the two began talking about the rules and when to show up. Iris was then handed some papers and a paper with her number on it. The female told her to slap in on her costume when the competition was to begin in two days. She thanked the female and walked away from the kiosk with papers in her hand. She had a few options...grab coffee and sit down so she could play her violin, go to the hotel and unpack and relax with her parents, unpack, play violin and drink coffee or unpack, and go ice skating while playing the violin. She had so many options and couldn't choose. she tapped her chin and pursed her lips thinking about it. She really should go unpack so maybe the was no brainer. She gazed around the building again and her eyes lingered at the ice skating kiosk. She really wanted to ice skate so that was her next thing to do after unpacking.

The hotel room was really nice, it was a two room space with a small kitchen big enough for cooking. One room had two bed, a couch with a tv in the corner and a small bathroom and the other room had one bed, a bathroom and a tv as well. By the door that led to the hallway was her suitcase, she glanced around to find her parents unpacking their bags so she picked hers up and headed into the smaller room and set the suitcase on the bed. She unzipped the suitcase and started to take the clothes out. A month she was staying in the hotel and a lot of clothes she has to put away. It didn't take long as she emptied out the suitcase and set it in the closet. She stretched and smiled that she was finally ready to do what she wanted to do. She walked out of her room and glanced at her parents. She told them she would met them for dinner and walked out of the hotel room and headed back to the ski lodge. It seemed a little more crowded when she walked back inside the massive building and headed towards the ice skating kiosk. There were at least two people in front of her but the line was quick and she rented her skates.

On the Ice Skating rink, she glanced all around it, mesmerized by how big the rink was. She sat down on one of the benches and put her skates on and took her violin out and walked carefully onto the ice. Once she was settled, she began to skate around and started to play on her violin.

Its been ages since he's been to the snow and its been a year since he's been away from home. Daniel was so busy in college with his major in theater and doing so many plays. There was a break and thankfully he had some down time and now that finals are over with so that he could enjoy his vacation The travel home was pretty boring as he sat in the plane by himself for about three hours, but the welcome home was great. His ten year old sister Lily tackled him in a big hug and the reunion began. It was short lived, as the next day he had to re-pack and take the drive to the ski lodge or rather their fancy hotel they were staying in for a month. He was actually excited for this trip especially knowing that a few days back he received a text from Iris that she was going out of town and where he read was the same place he was going to. He really should text her back but he figured he could surprise her. Iris and him were best friends till they went to different colleges. There were six friends actually and they were all close and its been three, almost four years since he's seen them.

The one he missed the most was Belle, they dated throughout their high school years and when it was time for college apps, Belle chose a college close to home while Daniel was accepted to a theater school far from home. He really couldn't say no since it was a once in a life time, so Daniel and Belle decided to try a long distance relationship for a while but three months into it, they decided to call it a quits and stay friends. However that didn't last very long when Daniel became too busy with classes. They would send texts here and there for weeks and then months and then it stopped. It reminded him that he really should charge his phone so that when he arrived at the hotel, he would be able to text his friends saying happy holidays. Thinking maybe it wasn't wise to send Belle one probably because she moved on or has she? The thought lingered in his head as he started out the window as his family was singing along to Christmas music.

The drive didn't last the long and Daniel chuckled as he saw Lily jumping up and down in her seat as the little girl saw the snow visible from the window. "Yes, I can see the snow too Lily." he chuckled and once the car was parked he slipped out of the car door and walked around helping Lily out of her seat. His parents went off to check in at the hotel. to his left was the ski lodge and to his right was the hotel but behind him happened to be a small snow him where children were sliding down on and throwing snowballs at each other. "Lets go build a snowman Lils." he picked up the child and scurried on over to the snow hill and set the girl down. He kneeled and started forming a ball with the snow. Daniel stood and grinned dodging a thrown snowball from Lily and he threw the one in his hand back at her and soon realized the other kids wanted to join in and help Lily out as they pinned their snowballs at him. "No fair!" he laughed as the kids gave out a warrior cry throwing more snowballs at him as he tried to run away from the snowy hill and towards the cars.

As he retreated, he had to dodge all the snowballs from Lily as she chased him towards the front of the hotel and it was just in time as their parents had walked out with two sets of keys in their hands.They had gotten their hotel and were ready to grab their things and head their way up.Daniel brushed the snow off of him and Lily and helped carry things towards the elevator. He glanced over at Lily as the ten year old girl Carried her own owl backpack that held her toys she played with in the car. "Are you ready to see our cool hotel room?" he asked his sister who only giggled and nodded at him. The elevator dinged and they were stepped out and walked down the long hallway, Daniel smiled as Lily was naming off the numbers of the hotel rooms. Their room number was 211 and they were close and once Lily called the number off, they stopped and Mrs. Husten used the key and opened the door. Lily pushed her way in and instantly hopped onto one of the beds, while Daniel was the last one in. He glanced around the room noticing the small kitchen and bathroom first then seeing the two beds and another room with a single bed.

An hour later, Daniel was finally unpacked and ready for the day ahead of him. He actually started to help Lily unpack as she is gets her own bed and her suitcase was placed on her bed. Clothes were spread out and she was deciding what hat to wear. Daniel helped her pick one out and placed the empty suitcase next to their parents. "Want to see the ice skating rink? i hear its gigantic." he called out to Lily as he was in the kitchen. Her answer was basically a squealed yes and zoomed right towards the door. He picked his sister up, headed out into the elevator, waited to exit and walked to the ski lodge. Once he was inside he stared in awe at how enormous the lodge was even if the building looked small outside. He glanced around at the many kiosks and has set Lily down since she wanted down. What he didn't see coming was the ten year old bolting out another door. "Lily!" he called out and followed after her. The view changed as the door he stepped out of was the view of the ice rink and he saw people ice skating. However not only the music from the speakers were playing but he could hear a slight violin sound playing. Daniel wondered taking a few more steps towards the rink.
