"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

Hearing a slight clatter coming from outside the shower, Astrid paused and turned to look. Peering through the glass, she could vaguely make out his shape who appeared to be undoing his belt and slipping off his trousers. Blushing and turning around, she averted her eyes quickly to give him some privacy; not that she could really see anything through the glass even if she wanted to. She didn't want him creeping on her, so she wasn't going to do that to him, no matter how temptingly handsome he was. Sighing quietly, she proceeded to wash the shampoo from out of her hair.

A moment later, a soft knock was heard on the shower door and she jumped slightly, immediately moving her hands to cover herself on instinct. Seeing that his back was still toward her, she relaxed, but only slightly. At the request for his shampoo, she called out as calmly as she could manage, "Of course." Opening the shower door ever so slightly, careful not to bump him, she extended her wet arm, the shampoo bottle in hand, some steam from the hot water escaping through the door around her. The other hand held tightly onto the door for balance; if she accidentally slipped and tumbled out, her wet and naked body would land right on top of him and she was not having that. Placing the bottle gently into his hand, she backed up and closed the door once more.

Going back under the water, she stood there for only a minute or two longer. After finishing up, she reluctantly shut the water off. The heat felt wonderful and she was glad to be clean, but the calming shower had only made her more tired and she couldn't wait to be covered in clothes again, safe from any potential wandering eyes. Hesitating a moment, she waited until her boss was safely back and busy at the sink before she could open the door to grab her towel.

A wet object was felt against the palm of his hand, circular in shape not too long after the sound of the frosted shower door covered in steam was opened; it was hard to tell what her tone was with it hidden underneath a stubborn shell. Keeping his back facing her direction and eyes adverted up towards the ceiling where it connected with the wall, his fingers wrapped around the bottle firmly then bringing it in front of him, finally bringing his eyes down to look at the shampoo as he stepped forward towards the sink. Looking it over in his hand and rotating it around, he took a breath before exhaling it, then reaching over with his right hand to turn the sink water on to a reasonable temperature. Around the time he was kneeling over to put his head under the water, he heard the shower come to a stop, but paid it no mind. Letting the water run through his hair and wet it entirely, he ran his hands through it while the needlessly expensive shampoo sat at the edge.

Lifting his head when he was sure his hair was soaked through, droplets of water trailed over his face and down his back, but at least it was different from the cold rain water that was outside. Trying to keep his head over the sink, he popped open the lid for the shampoo and put a glob into his hand before placing the bottle back down, then lathering his hair carefully to make sure he didn't miss a spot. It wasn't the first time he had washed his hair in the sink, but it was not something he allowed himself to do often, as it didn't feel very professional to him, but this situation allowed a bit of leeway. The space between the sink and shower, despite how lavish the bathroom is, was very limited; there was about enough space for two people to walk by with ease, but with Kenith bent over in front of the sink, space was even more limited due to his tallness. This would be an issue for Astrid if she wanted to step out of the shower, but thankfully if she choose to wait he didn't take that long anyhow.

The bubbles washed out from his hair with ease, he turned off the water, rubbing his face then grabbing a towel from the white cabinet. Putting it on his head, he moved the towel around to dry his hair, giving his head a lengthy rub with the small cloth beginning to feel damp as it absorbed. When he felt like it was good enough, he pulled it back to fall around his neck, shaking out his hair that stuck to his face before finally moving it by hand by running his hand through it. He turned to give a glance towards Astrid, assuming that she was done and dressed by now, probably waiting on him to finish.

Just because perfection is unreachable doesn't mean you shouldn't try. After all, shouldn't you always be your best?

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

Watching for a moment as he began to wash his hair at the sink, she knew she had to be fast. Opening the shower door once more, she pulled the towel inside, leaving the door slightly ajar carelessly. It was best that she stay inside the steamy shower for now, seeing as there was little room outside of it since Kenith took up some space at the sink. Running the soft, white towel over her body, she dried herself off as quickly as possible. The color rushed to her face as she hurried along; she did not like the idea of being caught getting dressed if he finished before her. Bending over for just a moment, her head leaning toward the door, she wrapped the towel around her cascading hair; with a twist, she secured it and straightened up. Reaching out of the shower again, she grabbed her panties and slipped those on quickly.

Hearing the sink turn off, she began to really panic. Grabbing the shirt he gave her from outside the door that was still partly open, she started to tug it over the towel that was on her head. Since she was occupied with that, her face covered by the end of the shirt, she didn't notice as Kenith dried his hair and turned to face her. Her bare chest was exposed as he did, her small but decent sized curves in view. Tugging the shirt down quickly, she huffed before glancing up at him, realizing what he might have just witnessed. Desperately hoping he didn't just see what she thought he did, her face turned a deep red as she cleared her throat and frowned. Stepping out of the shower, she rubbed the towel around before pulling it off, her damp hair falling over her shoulder. Since her mind was filled with embarrassment from what had happened, she only just noticed that her bottom half was still only in panties, her smooth, bare legs and hips exposed. Glancing down at the pants she had forgotten, she decided to leave them there. That's how she planned on sleeping anyway - what was the point in pulling a pair of pants on, only to take them off a moment later? Besides, the shirt he had lent her was quite large for her size. The bottom reached just far enough so her panties and most of her butt were covered.

Since he was apparently finished, she walked quickly past him and out of the bathroom, figuring he would follow. As she did so, she gathered up her damp hair and finished drying it.

Unluckily for the maid, it was probably the most inopportune time for her boss to look towards her to see if she was finished; the woman was struggling to get her shirt on over the towel that she had wrapped around her long red locks. Though the time was short, it was enough to give him enough time to look at her features before it had registered in his mind, however he was unable to look away before she had got the shirt on to cover her curves, it was too late to pretend he hadn't even looked. They stared at each other for an awkward moment, her face turning a bright red as realization set in; for some reason he felt embarrassed, but couldn't put his finger on why. He wasn't embarrassed for looking at her, it was a completely innocent act, however he awaited a slap to be put across his face as she stepped out of the shower entirely. It was not as though he purposely stared, or even looked for that long, but he doubted she would see reason and only see a pervert.

Expression neutral with hints of confusion which hadn't changed since he had looked at her, his eyes watched her walk by, seemingly pretending the whole thing didn't happen for the time being. However, she had stopped to look at her exposed bottom half, which caused his own eyes to trail down with curiosity to see what she was looking at; thankfully the long shirt that she wore covered mostly everything except for her long feminine legs. Inhaling a large amount of air in his lungs and then releasing it with a huff, he rose his hand to the towel on his neck to push it up to the back of his head, giving it a bit more of a rub as he followed her out of the bathroom. Admittedly he was appealed to her curves; rubbing one side of his face with his hand, the eye that was not covered watched her walk out into the bedroom, noting that she didn't seem to have any intention of putting on pants.

It was a bit curious that she was going without such an important article of clothing when sleeping with someone she barely knew on a personal level, but rationalized it quite easily; she probably didn't feel the need to cover up with half the show already been seen anyhow. Trying not to think about it, just being thankful his face didn't sting from a hard slap he was sure he would receive, he stepped out of the doorway and tossed the towel into the nearby hamper, before grabbing up all the stray clothes on the floor and dropping it in next. Making one final trip to the bathroom to grab his button up shirt, he stared at it for a moment as he exited back out and debated putting it on; usually he wouldn't, and since she was missing her pants he felt a shirt wouldn't be half as bad. It might stick to his back because of his hair not being entirely dried, and that would be uncomfortable for sleeping. Placing it on the desk, he looked at Astrid, then had to look away somewhere else as he got a flash of memories from what he saw previously. Closing his eyes, he took a breath and sighed it out, was it best to avoid it? "I'm, uh, sorry." He sounded almost flustered, "I thought you were clothed." He explained, were his cheeks red?

Just because perfection is unreachable doesn't mean you shouldn't try. After all, shouldn't you always be your best?

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

Entering the bedroom, Astrid's cheeks remained a bright red. It seemed as if the heat that rose to her face only a moment ago would never disappear. She tried not think about what he had seen too much. Was he watching her leave? Probably; she thought she could feel his eyes on her as she walked away. Hearing a large intake of breath and the exhale, that was most likely her confirmation that he was, indeed, looking while trying to keep his normal composure. Wandering over to the edge of the bed, she rubbed her head a little carelessly, staring off in the opposite direction of him. As he tossed his towel and the dirty clothes in the hamper, she heard the faint thump as they fell in. Seeing as her hair was mostly dry, she removed the towel, letting her red mass of hair fall in gentle waves over bother shoulders. Trying to aim for the hamper, she tossed the towel; it missed and landed on the floor just short of her target. Swearing under her breath, she went over and bent to pick it up, her shirt rising slightly to reveal more of her butt.

She cringed slightly as her boss apologized behind her, actually sounding a bit flustered. Or was that just her imagination? She hoped to avoid the topic, but it was inevitable that he would bring it up. After successfully tossing the towel in the hamper after her first blunder, she turned to face him and cleared her throat a bit awkwardly. Hesitating for just a moment, her eyes fell on his bare chest, slowly going down over his stomach and landing on his Apollo's Belt. Her gaze rose quickly, not wanting him to think she stared at his crotch, she looked over his defined arms. He would probably notice her peeking at him but she didn't care. After what he just saw from her, she was allowed to look at him for a moment. Even though she didn't exactly want to look him in the eyes, she did and noticed his cheeks had turned a faint red. Biting her bottom lip, she answered his apology softly. "Its... fine. D-don't worry about it." Did she really just stutter? Quickly breaking eye contact, she went over to one side of the bed and stood next to it a bit awkwardly, wanting to get in and curl up, but feeling a bit awkward about just doing it. Hugging her arms to her chest, she closed her eyes for a moment. That was unbelievable, was she really that flustered by his appearance to stutter? That never happened to her, ever! Sleeping next to this man might be a bit more difficult than she had originally anticipated.

The white towel had just missed the hamper, causing the woman who was ready to crawl into bed to force herself up to putting it away appropriately; the male would of offered to get it for her, or even ignore it until morning, but she had swiftly began to make her way across the room so it felt pointless by then. When she reached her destination Astrid had to reach over, causing Kenith to have to advert his eyes once more, taking a breath as he did so. He waited for an answer to his apology but the silence had caused him to peak over, noticing her eyes trailing around his body without trying to hide the fact. Raising a brow curiously, he stared at her do this until she finally responded with a stutter, one he over looked as her being nervous since she had been seen indecently. The eye contact ended quickly, causing the air to grow more awkward; it seemed she would rather avoid that it had even happened from his perspective. Deciding to allow her to forget, he let the topic die as well.

Walking over to the light switch and flipping it off, he walked towards his bed calmly, pulling up the covers, giving a glance to Astrid before crawling into bed and placing his back to her. Closing his eyes, he wondered if they should say anything to each other, but not saying anything felt like they were more avoiding each other than the awkward thing that had happened. "Goodnight, Astrid." He said simply, pulling the covers up but putting his arm over it.

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

Her thought process was interrupted as the lights were turned off and they were left in darkness. As her eyes adjusted to the sudden change, she followed Kenith's actions by crawling into bed opposite him. Pulling up the covers on her side, she settled far enough down to where her head rested close to the bottom edge of the pillow with the sheets up to her chin. Closing her eyes, her arm reached up to toss any stray locks of hair over her shoulder, so all of it flowed over the pillow behind her head. Tucking her arm back under the covers, she curled up. "Goodnight." Sighing softly, she began to relax each part of her body as she listened to the rain outside. No thunder could be heard - the storm had died down slightly by this time but the rain was still falling. As tired as she was, sleep didn't come to her immediately like she had hoped. What if her boss did something to her in the middle of the night as she slept? She thought it was highly unlikely, but he was still a man and there was still a possibility. Resolving to be more careful for the next bathroom incident, she scrunched up her face in a frown as she tried to push it out of her mind. And she certainly should not be attracted to this man in any way. After all, one of them had to die by the end of the week - neither one of them could forget this fact. Her unruly emotions must be kept in check and her stubborn attitude must prevail for this situation. But still, even as she thought these things, she felt a slight pang in her heart for him. How could they possible come to a decision?

"Listen to the rain, Astrid. Deal with these problems tomorrow," she thought. Deciding to follow her own advice, she focused on the weather, her face slowly relaxing as she drifted off to sleep.

Being able to shove out prior events rather easily, the awkwardness between the two due to what had just happened was forgotten quickly, especially with the help of his mind replaying the moment in the black void where he was originally paired with this woman for the whole week. It was difficult to block out, the memories causing a bit of anger to form for only a moment before it had subsided just as quick; moving his one arm up under his pillow and the other still on top of the blanket, he tried to ignore it and focus on sleeping. The process was pointless, it took a while for the male to finally fall asleep, but morning came quickly afterwards. Morning came with the sun raising, causing the sky to turn a light blue in color, birds faintly chirping outside as they began to wake up; there were still a few clouds but the strong winds posed more of a threat to nice weather.

Sitting up at the edge of the bed, tossing off the covers violently, Kenith brought a hand up to rub his eye with a tired yawn; it was barely nearing 6:30 and already he was waking up. Having gone to sleep so late on top of sleeping terribly and then waking up before he was used to caused his expression to be noticeably tired, faint bags under his eyes and a tired stare. If it wasn't for the look caused by the lack of sleep that he could not hide, such as the bags, it would be harder to see due to his stare usually a bit blank or stern. Getting up from the bed, giving a glance back towards the sleeping Astrid, he stared at her for a moment, expression not revealing his emotions, he finally turned and walked towards the desk at the opposite side of the room. Letting the woman sleep, he took a seat at the comfortable chair, waking his computer up from sleep mode, swapping between doing his business on there and writing some things down in a notebook.

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

The sun had only just begun to fully rise and Astrid was still sound asleep. Passing out fairly quickly last night, she had slept deeply, her body relaxing and stretching out slightly from her original curled up position. Rolling over to face Kenith's side, who had awoken unbeknownst to her, she continued to sleep, her lips slightly parted. The shirt she had borrowed for the night had risen as she slept, creeping up her stomach to rest under her chest. Her bottom half was still safely under the covers however, only her arms had managed to escape.

On the outside, she appeared calm, her face showing no sign of discomfort; but on the inside, her mind was facing a terrible nightmare. As her tired boss typed away at this computer, she dreamed horrors of death, surely because of her experience only yesterday. Finally, evidence of her struggle showed on her soft face as it scrunched up in, what appeared to be, pain. Waking, she shot up into a sitting position as her eyes snapped open, inhaling a huge and audible breath. The red mass of hair around her was a mess, strands of it were sticking up at odd angles as the rest of the tangled mess fell over her shoulders. This only heightened the look of fear across her face as she processed her dream. Details were lost upon waking, but her horrible death in the dream was distinctly remembered. It didn't make the situation much better when she realized where she was. This wasn't her small and familiar apartment, she was in her boss' mansion and still seated in his bed. As she looked at him with wide eyes, memories of the previous day flooded her which offered no comfort. Half of her body still under the sheets, she rest her elbows on her legs as her face rested in her hands, completely covered. Rubbing it for a moment she let out a sigh, trying to relax and control her frantic mind. She was not prepared to deal with such things so early in the morning.

Sitting quietly with eyes attempting to focus on the white screen of the computer, the growing feeling of being uncomfortable forming in his stomach, an unsettled emotion poking at his brain that caused him to have the inability to pay attention to what he was working on. Constantly, he had to stop and look around, as if something was there watching him, or take his eyes off the screen to rest them for a moment and regain himself. Not too long after, there was a sound of blankets shuffling, on the black desktop plastic holding the monitor Astrid could be seen raising up with hair a mess and deep breathing. Staring at her in the reflection of the plastic for a moment with curiosity, he finally turned and placed his arm up on the back of his chair, continuing to stare with wonder. Fear was obvious on her face, her eyes a bit wide and finally looking at him; he debated on asking her if she was alright but connections were slowly beginning to fall together in his mind.

The feeling he had was fear, something he didn't know well, and had absolutely no reason to have this emotion right now, but Astrid appeared to be terrified from, presumably, a nightmare. Were they feeling the same emotions? That was irrational, but so was everything that was happening to them, this would probably be the least weird thing of the whole situation. It would explain his... mood swings.

Watching her put her face into her hands, he sat up straight, looking at her for a second before finally getting up. "Are you okay?" He asked just before sitting in front of her on the bed, making sure to feel with his hand first so he didn't sit on one of her legs. His eyes remained focused on her covered face, he would break his realization to her after she was calmed down; though it wasn't uncommon for him to console people, usually it was something he only did if he had to, like a coworker. If he had seen a random woman crying, walking down the road or sitting on a subway, chances are he would ignore her without guilt.

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

His seemingly concerned question brought her slightly back into reality; lifting her face to look up at him, she was a bit surprised to find that the man, still in his pajama pants, took a seat on the bed in front of her. In an attempt to gain composure, she fumbled with her hair - trying to push loose pieces down into place and running her fingers through it to brush it out. Clearing her throat quietly, she tried to sound as calm as possible with her response, but the fear inside her wouldn't disappear so easily. "Uh, yes, I'm fine. It was only a nightmare." The last sentence was directed more toward herself for reassurance, but the reality of their situation, their bond, was not going to be ignored.

This didn't help her much, however. Despite the relaxing shower and sleep last night, she only felt more stressed, and since it was early in the morning when she was still too sleepy to think very rationally, she couldn't gain much control. Feeling tears rise in her eyes and threaten to escape, she put her face back in her hands and took a deep breath. Her stubbornness tried to take over - why should she cry in front of this man? Feeling weak and foolish, she kept her face hidden from him. She almost wished for some sort of physical, comforting contact from him, but this was ridiculous. He wasn't the sort of person that would ever do that willingly, and she wasn't going to mention her silly desire. Instead, she pushed the feeling away and looked up at him once more, any traces of those threatened tears gone. A hint of fear and sadness still lingered in her eyes, but she tried her best to look at him with confidence.

Giving the woman a neutral stare after her response, mentally his mind went over an appropriate reaction to have to the statement, but before long there were traces of tears that began to form at the edges of her eyes. Seeing this, his expression changed to obvious surprise, but quickly her face was hidden once more in her hands, an action that couldn't tell him any louder that she was troubled greatly. Debating comforting with physical contact, it was too late as already the woman regained her composure and looked back up at him, forcing a strong face but her eyes unable to hide her true emotions even with the tears gone. Though his expression was blank, he was in thought of how to react; momentarily he thought of doing something stupid.

It was not the predictably unpredictable romantic action of throwing her off guard with a kiss or something unrealistic for the situation, at least in his opinion, but something more so unpredictable. The thought however was quick due to it's stupidity, but he was thinking of throwing her on the ground, not enough to hurt her, but an action that would quickly get her riled up so fear and sadness would be the last thing on her mind. This would also test the theory that their emotions really were connected, but getting angry if he was correct was not a desirable outcome, nor was her yelling at him. Comforting her was difficult for him though; they were not exactly enemies, and should make this time as easy for the other as possible, but making the person that may be taking his life feel better about their situation felt hard for him to do. This situation was just as hard on him as her, so why did he have to be the one strongly pulling them through it, didn't he have the right to be upset too? Of course he did, he knew that, but when he was plagued by the same problem that separated them, helping her feel better didn't feel right.

Sucking up a breath of air, the male stood up straight and looked away from Astrid for a minute, before looking like he was about to walk past her but instead turned swiftly and grabbed her arm harshly. Forcing her up into a standing position roughly, he pulled her off balance to fall against him, and then held her there, an arm wrapped around her back close to her waist, and his other hand holding the back of her head. It had slipped his mind that she was still without bottoms, he had completely forgotten since he had woken up. Looking a bit off to the side, his expression looked slightly stubborn, but more so in the embarrassed sense rather than the defiant or objective sense.

"I can't decide whether you should live or die."

Astrid watched the quiet man, who appeared to be deep in thought. His expression was blank and nothing could be gathered about his emotional state, which was slightly annoying. This was something she would have to quickly get used to through the week. It was normal to her when they passed by each other during her work hours, but facing his blank expression and neutral tones as they continue to spend each day always near each other might be difficult. She honestly didn't know what he was going to do after her answer and she certainly didn't expect anything sweet or romantic - that was out of the question. So, when he suddenly stood up, apparently having made up his mind, her eyes followed him with curiosity, temporarily distracted from her despair.

Unexpectedly, her arm was grabbed and she was pulled upright to stand in front of him. As this happened, she was reminded once again of yesterday, her arm being held in the same, harsh manner. Feeling anger rise to the front of her mind, she started to protest. "Wha-?!" This feeling was interrupted, however, with surprise as she was pulled off balance to rest against him, her forehead against his bare chest and one of his hands holding her head with the other near her waist. Not knowing what to feel at this point, she hesitated slightly before wrapping her arms around him in return, her hands resting gently against his back. She didn't exactly want to admit it, but she appreciated this gesture and hoped that she gave him some comfort in return. She had forgotten that their bond situation was affecting him too, since he kept any emotion well hidden, and she realized that she had been selfish, so focused on her own discomfort about it. Closing her eyes for a moment, she turned to rest her check softly against him. Feeling suddenly a bit embarrassed, she ignored it, not really wanting to be the first one to pull away.

Quickly the defenses of the woman were dropped, instead her shell broke away to be held and return to the act to the taller male holding her; there was silence between the two as they stood there, neither one of them seeming to want to pull away first. Waiting for her to receive the full amount of comfort that she desired, eventually he ended up idly rubbing the back of her head, placing his chin on the mess of hair on the top of her head, eyes staring at the aquarium. His other arm had grown tightener when she had accepted his kindness without his notice. Keeping his mind empty of passing thoughts, he continued to wait until there was a sign of her wanting to pull away, but finally felt like breaking the silence between the two so the act didn't grow over lived and awkward. "Are you okay?" Closing his eyes and mentally insulted himself for asking the same question as before, calling himself stupid.

Taking a moment to clear his throat and think a bit more before he spoke this time, he debated on apologizing; it was not as though he had anything to be sorry for other than the situation, but he was stuck in it too, so it didn't really make sense for him to do it. Still, it would be the right thing to say, and better than leaving the repeat question mistake as the only thing he said. "I am sorry." That didn't really sound right, his tone came out a bit lackluster, but different from his usual void tone. This was more of one from awkwardness; it was one thing to fake an action which he did constantly, but to actually do it genuinely, somehow it was an impossible task. He's consoled people before, even a very tiny amount that he didn't have to, and the words still came to him pretty easily as long as he put some thought into it, but this situation was too hard to adjust to. "That you are in this situation." He added, but then the apology didn't feel right; he just couldn't win. Giving up, he just let her answer.

Just because perfection is unreachable doesn't mean you shouldn't try. After all, shouldn't you always be your best?
