Lillian awoke after a dreamless sleep. The past few days must have taken a lot out of her because she slept so peacefully. Her eyes fluttered open slowly and she blinked a few times She couldn't tell what time it was, nor did she really want to. She climbed out of bed and stood there for a few seconds. It was said that sleep was the body's natural healer and she was definitely feeling better. After getting dressed for the day, she walked into the kitchen in hopes to grab something to eat. It was there that she found the note from Roman. It must be daylight outside because he was downstairs at the gym. She would go visit after she got some food in her stomach.

Lillian fumbled around the kitchen. She wasn't a cook and she didn't want to burn the building down, so she opted out of anthing harder than frying an egg and some toast. She took her time eating, enjoying every bite she took. When she was done, she washed her dishes, the polite thing to do and found her way downstairs. In the gym, she easily found Roman and smiled as she watched him for a while. She didn't want to interrupt him. Her eyes wandered around. She had never actually been in a gym. She was never one to work out. Never thought she needed it.

She approached him with a smile on her face, something that came easily for some reason. "Do you even need to work out.? Or do you just do it to pass time.?" It was an honest question seeing as he was a vampyre and he was already stronger than anyone she could ever think of. 'I wonder what his muscles feel like' The thought appeared out of nowhere. Why was Lillian thinking like this.

Roman can smell Lillian's scent before she even steps foot inside the gym so it comes to no surprise to him when she walks in and begins to ask him question. Once she seems done speaking he sets the weights down he was lifting and sits up. He grabs a nearby towel and wipes his face then grabs a bottle of water and nearly drink the entire thing before beginning to answer her.

"I probably don't need to for obvious reasons but it is something I have always done even before I turned. I guess you could say I do it to pass the time but it's more of a habit of mine. A much better habit than most people have nowadays in my opinion."

He no longer smells the scent of fresh blood and can only assume this means her wound has clotted and stopped bleeding. It is surely a lot easier for him to concentrate and be around her now that it has done so.

"You were asleep when I got back, I didn't want to wake you. I figured after last night's events you could use the rest. I don't sleep much. Another trait of being a vampyre not to mention I have horrible nightmares most of the time anyway. But uh, we kind of need to have a talk. As I am sure you know by now you cannot exactly keep staying here. I mean I don't mind you being around but it is obviously frowned upon by the rest of the staff here at the school for me to have a human basically living room me. Especially a younger female human, such as yourself."

She laughed when he confirmed that he didn't need to work out. He just did it, to do it. As he kept talking his voice became more serious. He was telling her to leave. Well, he didn't exactly tell her to leave, but that's what she was hearing. She was doing that whole 'girls hear what they want to hear' thing. How could he just not want her here. It was for the best. She had thought it too. And she wouldn't want to upset any of the staff here. "I understand. It's the best thing we can do. I..should get going though before the sun goes down. " She needed to think. To clear her mind. After putting her trust in him, he was going to send her back out into that world where who knew what could happen to her.

"I'm going to go pack up my things. I'll be back down afterwards to say bye." She didn't wait for him to respond before she bolted away and up the stairs. She had locked herself in his room and sat on the floor. She took her time putting the little bit of things back into her bag. She closed it up and pulled the handle to wheel it around. She stopped in the kitchen. Lillian found the notepad and the pen he had used to leave her a note and she scribbled on it.

                                                          'Roman,

I thank you for everything you've done for me. I don't want to get you in trouble for me staying here, but I don't think I can say bye. So i'm really sorry for just leaving like this, but it's going to be okay. I'm leaving now so I can make it out before sundown. If I don't it wont be safe for me to leave.

                                                          -Lillian'

She found herself outside. She looked around before walking away quickly. She didn't look back for fear that she would break down and stay despite the fact that he needed her to leave. She stood at the gates unable to move for a few minutes before one of the human guards approached her. Lillian explained her situation and the guard escorted her out, no questions asked. After the gate was closed behind her she sighed. She couldn't take anymore steps forward. She assumed it would be sundown soon, so she took a seat in the dirt up against the gate.

Lillian is no doubt devastated by what Roman had previously said and as much as he did not like the idea of sending her away he knew it was for her own good. He yearns to run after and stop her but forces himself to stay put, knowing that in the long run that is the right choice. He stays in the gym a little while longer before heading back to the living quarters. It is here that he finds the note that she had left for him.

After reading the note over several times Roman sighs and lets the sheet of paper float back down on to the counter before he heads to his room to shower and get dressed for work. Not long after he arrives to the front gate post and one of his co-workers motion toward the front gate. Roman begins to walk in that direction and soon picks up on Lillian's scent. She had not left after all, he is unsure to be upset or relieved by this. He knows she cannot stay here but he also cannot deny that part of him does not want her to leave. He pulls the gate open and steps over to where she is sitting at.

"Lilly, what are you still doing here? You should have went home when the sun was still up. You know it's dangerous for you to be outside alone at night. Especially this close to school grounds."

He squats down beside her and places a hand on her shoulder reassuringly with a look of general concern upon his face.

"It is not that I want you to leave so please don't think that. It is more a matter of your own safety. You do understand that, right?"

A familiar feeling surged through her body when Roman placed his hand on her shoulder. She turned to face him, a confused look on her face. She starts to shake her head. "I dont want to leave. I dont feel safe, even out there. I don't want to go home and face life knowing that there are dangerous things on the world. I just don't want to. I can't go home and pretend that this trip was all fun and games. I can't lie to my parents about what goes on in this world. Lillian paused to watch his facial expression. "Most of all, I don't want to leave you." She didn't know where that last statement came from. She had grown close to him in these past few days, with him looking out for her.

"I understand that it's for my safety, but how can I be safe out there? You don't know what could happen." At this point she was speaking from her heart. "Sure, I might not get attack by a fledgling, but I can still get hurt, and you wont be there to save me. You said you wouldn't be able to live with yourself if something happened to me, Does that still ring true if i'm outside this gate." She felt herself tear up, but held them back as best she could. She didn't want to cry, not now. OR at least, she didn't want him to see her like that.

She picked herself up off the ground. "But I guess since you think it's for the best, i'll leave." Those were the last words she spoke before walking away. She promised herself she wouldn't turn around. She promised herself that she would go straight home. She could feel a sense of sadness overcome her entire body and she kept up her pace. Roman wouldn't dare go after her and leave his post unguarded so she didn't have to worry about that.

Roman stands completely still at the gate for a good minute or two, until Lillian is just barely out of sight before he finally runs after her.

        "Lilly! Lillian!"

He quickly catches up to her as she turns to him with tears now streaming down her face he embraces her in a hug. He holds her tightly against his chest as he strokes her hair with his hand and speaks just barely over a whisper.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I never meant to upset you or send you away. I just can't help but think that you would be much safer away from this place, away from me."

He releases her and now and look down at her with a serious expression on his face.

"You really have no idea what I am capable of. I worry about something happening to you but I am even more afraid of the possibility that I might end up being the something that happens to you in the end. I have been doing my best to shield you from the fact but it very difficult for me to be around you some times. Not you as a person but... well the other night when you got hurt I'm sure you are aware of why I had to leave. If I had been around you another second or two longer there is no telling what would have happened. I have a hunger within me that sometimes I just cannot control no matter how much I wish to and there is nothing I can do about that. I'm a vampyre, its just part of what I am. Do you really want to take that risk of being around a monster?"

Within those two minutes, Lillian's entire world fell apart. With each step she took, she felt like she was losing herself. Before another thought could form in her head his arms were around her holding her tightly. She couldn't held but squeeze back. It was such an amazing feeling, one that couldn't be described even if she tried. His whispered voice so soothing, like music to her ears. They obviously had different thoughts on where she would be safer. He thought she would be better off out of this place. She just didn't want to leave him.

"I know exactly what you're capable of. I'm just not afraid of you. I know you can kill me if things go wrong, but you wont let yourself. I trust you. I don't know why, but I do. You're a vampyre, but not a monster. Monsters aren't sweet and caring and protective. I would love to take the risk being around you. Only because I don't want to leave you. I don't want to live my life out there in fear. At least in here I have you." Lillian finally shut up and looked at him. Trails of tears coated her cheeks and she didn't care. Her mind trailed back to what he had said earlier about the other staff not liking her here. She didn't want him to lose his job or anything over her or have other people mad at him. Who knows what kind of consequences it could have on him. She started thinking of compromises she could make.

The only think that came to her mind was her leaving and coming back to visit at times, but that wouldn't be enough.

Roman lets out an exasperated sigh as he runs a few things through his mind trying to figure out what to say or do next. He wipes the tears away from Lillian's cheeks before cupping her face in his hands.

"I know you want to stay and I understand that you're scared, that's perfectly normal but you're not thinking rationally right now. How could you with all of the things that have happened over the past couple of days? I genuinely believe that you need to go home and no I'm not saying you have to leave forever but maybe just go for a couple of days to clear your head. Nothing is going to happen to you. You were perfectly fine living that life before you got here and you'll be just as okay living it now. The only difference now is that you know a little bit more about things that are in this world but those things can't hurt you outside these walls. There are plenty of safe guards in place to prevent that from happening."

He pauses a short moment before dropping his hands back down to his side and looking away briefly. He looks back at Lillian and says nothing for a moment or two until he finally opens his mouth once again.

"There is something that I can do that will assure you that nothing will be able to hurt you but... Well the thought of it makes me pretty nervous, to be honest."

Roman looks down at the ground obviously battling a war within himself about whether he should commit to such a thing.

"You see, vampyre's have the ability to imprint on a human but it's not a simple thing and there are side effects. As with anything there are good as well as bad things that go along with it. For that to be able to happen though I would have to..."

He looks up at Lillian with his head still tilted toward the ground unsure of how she is going to react.

          "Drink your blood."

The words he was saying just weren't making sense. However, he was right. She did live a perfectly fine life before coming to this school, and she could go back to it if need be. The only problem was the fact that she didn't want to go back to living that way. She didn't really think she was safer in here, but she had him to protect her. As he spoke, she couldn't look away, which she really wanted to do. His voice was firm as he must have truly believed that she would be better off going back to her old life. A very small part of her knew that he was thinking for the best. But she was an unreasonable young lady who never thought things through. It was more of a spontaneous way of living.

A gasp escaped her lips when he said he would need to drink her blood. She didn't understand how that could help at all. Wouldn't that just ignite the hunger in him more. Was this all a plan to have her as his next meal or something? 'Lillian, what the heck are you thinking. If he wanted you, he would have killed you long ago. You have nothing to worry about. Right?' She couldn't help but question it. "What's imprinting, Why would you need to drink my blood.? What are the side effects?" She paused her rambling questions. She did this a lot. Kind of just spurted out every thought in her head. "Does it hurt?"

This is the reaction that Roman was dreading; fear. The last thing he wants is for Lillian to be afraid of him. She then proceeds to stutter out several questions referring to his afor mentioned idea.

            "Whoa, slow down. Breath. Breath..."

He smiles slightly before returning back to his serious face and beginning to answer her questions.

"One thing you should know before hand is that an imprint between a vampyre and human does not occur every time a vampyre feeds. Many studies have been performed to try to determine exactly why some humans imprint and some do not, but though there are several determining factors, such as emotional attachment, relationship between the human and the vampyre, age, sexual orientation, and frequency of blood drinking, there is no way to predict with certainty whether a human will imprint with a vampyre. Therefore even if you agree to it and I drink from you it may all just end up being in vain."

Roman pauses a moment to let what he is saying begin to sink in before he continues.

"A simple way of explaining an imprint is that it is a strong mental bond formed between two people. When a vampyre or fledgling drinks from another person, it is a very intense feeling. After the imprint is formed, the two people involved in the imprint can feel each other's emotions, and if the imprint is strong enough--even read their thoughts. Basically if one person in an imprint is being physically injured, then the other could feel it."

Roman waits to see if Lilly has anything else to say and sees that she is listening intently and appears to be understanding so he decides to continue on.

"As far as it hurting... Vampyre saliva acts as an anticoagulant for human blood and it also secrets endorphins during the blood drinking process, which stimulates the pleasure zones of the brain. So uh no, it definitely will not hurt. Quite the opposite actually."

She found herself a few steps away from him. Lillian didn't remember stepping away, but somehow it had happened. It wasn't until he told her to breath that she noticed she had been holding her breathe. She took a few deep slow breathes and the world began to slow down. It was as if she was taking in everything in slow motion. And then he smiled. And for that split second Lillian's head was blank. Focused on his facial features that were far to perfect. She was a mere human. Nothing compared to him and she started to wonder why he didn't just let her leave. It probably would have done them both good. But in reality, she was glad that he ran after her. She didn't care if he knew that she was staring. He deserved it. Then his facial expression changed. The smile faded into a serious look.

"Do you think it would work with us?" She questioned it because they had only known each other a few days. "What if it doesn't work? How would being able to sense me keep me safe.?" She was full of even more questions. She just wanted to know it all. "So it feels....nice" This caught her by surprise. She honestly didn't believe that a vampyre bite could possibly feel good. "Would you get in trouble for doing it?" This was her most important question. Sure, she would take the risk but not if it meant anything happening to Roman. After all, he's done so much for her, and she owed him big time. At least in her mind she did.

"I'm willing to take the risk, even if it's all for nothing. I just don't know if I want to right now. Maybe I should think about it a it longer. Sleep on it or something. I've noticed that my decisions never turn out to be right ones. I don't want to jump into something that's going to affect the rest of my life." Where had this Lillian come from. She was never like this. She would have been all for it, but he was hesitant, so maybe she should be as well. After all, he's known best this whole time and she's just been an irresponsible burden. The thought behind being able to read thoughts intrigued her but then again, she wasn't sure he wanted to know half the things she thought about.

                                                                  ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

Roman pauses a moment to think over what he should say or do next before beginning to answer Lillian's questions.

"Honestly I have no idea whether it will work or not. As you previously said, we hardly even know each other so there is a good possibility that I won't. If it does work though I would always know when you are afraid or in any sort danger or pain. I will also know when you are not and that you are happy instead. That would go both ways of course, so you would feel my emotions as well. The way that would help me keep safe is that I would instantly know when you need my help and therefore it would take me little to no time to find and help you."

Roman paces back in forth for a little while still trying to think over what he should say before coming back to stop.

"You're right, you should definitely think this over. Something like this is a big deal and will impact your entire life. I don't want you agreeing to that unless you're one hundred percent sure of that but in the mean time there is something else I think will also do the trick and will actually be a lot easier on you."

He closes the rest of the space between them and, taking one of her hands in his, Roman drops to one knee before Lillian.

"I need to ask you something."

He fists his right hand over his heart and stares up into her eyes.

"Lillian, I ask you to accept my Warrior's Oath. Sworn to you this day I pledge to protect you with my heart, my mind, my body, and my soul. I pledge to belong to you before all others, and to be your Warrior until I draw my last breath on this world, and beyond, if our Goddess so wills it. Do you accept?"

It was a smart way to live. Fairy complicated at time because what was life without a little risk anyway.? When Roman agreed with her, it didn't catch her by surprise. Instead she just smiled. She had been thinking rationally for one of the only times in her entire life. It only took letting a vampyre drink her blood, to get it through her head that maybe she shouldn't live life so carelessly. He had mentioned something else that could possibly help her and it peaked her interest. Her eyebrows raised as he approached her and closed the gap between the two.

When Roman took her hand and ot down on his knee, she becomes confused. She knew what things like this meant in human. But she didn't want to jump to any conclusions. She listened to his worlds carefully taking each one in at a time, starting with the way he said her name. Her heart raced at an obnoxiously fast pace. It felt as if it were going to fall out of her chest. The way his eyes were locked on hers, She was melting. Feeling like she was in a dream-like state, Lillian couldn't help but smile. This was honestly the sweetest thing she had ever heard. Could he honestly even care about her to that extent to make such a promise. The way he worded it made Lillian assume that he would spent the rest of his life protecting her. But she also thought that she would just become a burden.

Her gaze shifted away from his eyes and down to the ground. She watched her feet move as she shifted her weight from side to side. She was speechless. She didn't exactly know how big of a deal if was, but the way Roman had presented it, it must have been. To her it was just another promise that would eventually get broken. Before she over thought it anymore she looked back up at him. "I would love knowing that you're here protecting me. You give me a sense of security that I didn't know existed." She paused. She still found herself at a loss for words as she peered into his eyes. She took a deep breath before letting it out in two words.

                                                                    "I accept."

Roman stands back up with Lillian's hand still in the grasp of his, his eyes still fully focused upon hers.

"I hope this makes you feel better. I know you don't know a lot about these kinds of things but my warrior's oath binds me to you and because of it I will give my life for you without a second thought. That or I will simply loose my mind so it's kind of a big deal but I really would prefer this over you risking the chance that me imprinting on you didn't work. I really need to be getting back to my post though Lilly, I have already spent a considerable amount of time away already. More than I probably should have. One that did register in her mind was where he had said he would commit suicide if anything had ever happened to her. Now she knew it was serious and that she couldn't let herself get into any trouble. She would stay with him one more night and then return home. She wasn't entirely looking forward to it, but she had to admit that she missed her house and family and most of all, her own bed where she could sleep soundly at night knowing that nothing was going to kill her in her sleep. Well, maybe not nothing, but the chances were a lot less likely to occur. Keeping his hand in hers she started towards the tower.

Lilly carefully climbed up the ladder, keeping her fear of heights in the back of her head. This was only maybe the second time she had been up here. Immediately sitting down, which seemed to calm her nerves a bit she looked around. The night was quiet, peaceful and she liked it that way. She leaned backwards until her back was against the ground and stared up into the night sky. She looked over a Roman."You know. They say it's impossible to count the stars in the sky. They also say it's supposed to be bad luck." She returned her gaze to the sky and smiled. "But that never stopped me." Softly the girl started to hum a soothing melody. She had no idea where it came from, but it was a song that got stuck in her head quite a bit.

She tried imagining what it would be like to fly around the stars, even if it was impossible. She started to think about how each star up in the sky might have been the center of it's own universe. The space was infinite and that was a crazy way to look at life. A week ago, Lilly would have never thought she would be laying on the top of a tower with a vampyre who would give his life for hers. Made her wonder what other things existed that she never knew about.
