"How about a strong shot of honest,
don't you owe that to me?"

The sound of the engine starting was music to her, god she wished she had a vehicle like that at home. Yes this was something he should be proud of; everyone needed something to be proud of no matter who or what they did. Maria softly laughed listening to him about the four seasons, he seemed to have a good sense of humour, and she valued that. She smiled to herself looking over at the speedometer, hell she didn’t have to, to know they were going past the speed limit. The world wasn’t yet a blur but they did pass a lot of other cars, his lane changing was spermatic at times making it a good enough reason for an officer to pull him over and charge him with careless driving and even street racing… where was a cop when you needed one? Maria’s only action she would do was smile and shake her head, “Boy’s and their toys,” she softly spoke to herself as her view would look out the window.

Her attention would be drawn back to Nicholas as he asked her about their plans, what were they going to do? Maria hadn’t actually planned that far ahead, she remembered a few nice places when she was there once before but not many of those names remained in her mind. It didn’t matter though; all of this was business after all. Maybe it would be better to fall in his hand anyway, doing things which he wanted to do, maybe it would pay off latter when she needed a favour from him whatever it would be. Maria turned to look at him and gave a smile, “Not really, I wouldn’t even know where to begin,” She explained her voice soft and content as he continued to drive along. “I know there are supposed to be some amazing jazz clubs which I must attend to some night this week but, for this afternoon nothing comes to mind. It’s up to you Nick, whatever you’re up to for doing this afternoon.”

((Sorry I was late posting, just got back from my trip smile ))

"Make a wish... it'll be your last"

Nick looked over to her as she had a comment about his “toy.” No witty come back came to mind so he simply smiled then turned his attention back to the road. He knew Maria couldn’t be as innocent as she appeared right now. They almost seemed like two normal people just driving around town after their routine nine to 5 shift. Nicholas wondered if he’d get the chance to see her darker side, as long as the side wasn’t upset at him that is.

“Oh that sounds nice,” Nick admitted as they slowed down greatly do to the traffic ahead of them. Traffic ruins all the fun he thought to himself before going on about the club again. “We should go if you are in the mood for it later on. But for now, I believe there is a nice park close to your hotel if time permits that we can check out.”

The traffic cleared as his car silently sped up upon pressing his food down. The two drove on for another minute or two before Nick once again had to stop. This time not because of traffic, instead because of a stop sign. “I believe the hotel is to the right,” he said to himself really as he committed to the turn. Luckily, his thought was confirmed upon seeing the Four Seasons logo up a head.

"How about a strong shot of honest,
don't you owe that to me?"

She sat and watched the world go past here as the car speed down the street, she wouldn’t say another word about the speed, he seemed to be driving safely other wise. Maria would turn her attention to him as he talked about the night club, he was interested in going? Made making a connection with him easier, but then again that outing all depended on how the next meeting went with Vince… well she hoped. Then he spoke of a park. A park, really? She found herself smiling, a honest one full of kindness and wonder. Who would have picture a mob man wanting to go to a park where families spent their time with children, couples went to spend time together… something about it seemed almost odd to her, but yet… cute at the same time. “I think we’ll have enough time to go to the park,” she said aloud to him, also saying in her own way of how she would be more than happy to go to the park with him.

Nicholas believed right and the hotel was there as they turned the corner, so Nick did know how to get to the hotel without getting lost, not that she didn’t have any doubts. “If you could pull up front and let me run in I’ll be back out in a few,” she explained looking over at him, a smile was still leftover on her lips from the park comment as he pulled over. Grabbing her purse she opened the door, “I’ll be back.” Maria stepped out and closed the car door behind her before going to the back of the car, picking up her luggage and then walking inside the hotel.

As she walked into the building, it was marble floors, leather seats, hard wood accents… upper class that was for sure. Maria located the check in counter walked over gave the information needed and signed the dotted line, room was hers. Before turning and leaving she handed the man behind the counter a fifty and instructed him to get someone to take her bag up into her room, and leave it. A bell boy was called over within ten seconds. Maria headed back out of the building and smiled seeing the car still sitting there, as she walked down there she opened the door and smiled over at him as she took her seat and closed the door. “Happy to see your still hear,” she would say as she ran her hand threw her hair straightening it. “Now how about that park? It really is a beautiful day today, we might as well enjoy it there,” she added.

Nick smiled as she smiled at him which made him thing that the saying was true. Smiling must really be contagious. He pulled up to the front like instructed then she popped out of the car. "I'll be here," he said as watched grabbed her things and went into the hotel. Luckily their was no cars around so he didn't have to move which was a plus. A valet looked at the man for a moment wondering if he would pop out but soon gave up and went to tend to some other duty. Nicholas tapped his hands against the steering wheel as he waited and had a small chuckle to himself. He had to admit this was pretty silly. A guy needs some down time in between being so serious and she seemed the type to get that. Either that or she would be think he had multiple personalities when he snapped back into mobster mode.

"That was pretty fast," he started off saying wondering if she really was quick or if he simply lost track of the time. "Heh, Did you think I was going to drive off on you?" Nick asked as their good moods seemed to continue. Since he had not turned the car off as she went inside they were able to quickly leave the hotel. He reached a stop sign and narrowed his eyes for just a moment as he noticed a cop to the right of them. When it was his turn he went and safely continued to drove to the park. Cars like his got pulled over fairly often. Nick was just glad he didn't decide on the red version.

Like he said the park was not to far away, within two or three miles he guessed. The hotel might have even listed it on the website. Nicholas pulled into the park's lot that was filled with four door cars and SUV's. Somehow he felt his car didn't quite match. "Now, I have something to tell you," Nicholas said sounding really serious in his tone of voice. He looked at the bicyclists and families there were around. "If you are going to want me to push you on the swing you are going to have to ask really nice." he finished obviously making a joke.

"How about a strong shot of honest,
don't you owe that to me?"

As Maria sat back in the seat she nodded and shrugged, “Amazing how money talks,” she told him truthfully, “Makes things go much faster,” it was true and she was playing a women who was wealthy… Maria somewhat enjoyed it but who wouldn’t. “My the sound of your voice it sounded like you really wanted to get to the park… wasn’t sure if you were going to leave without me or not,” Maria joked with him. Maria honestly didn’t know how much Nick wanted to go to the park but… she had a feeling that he wanted to go for enjoyment but it would be off for a young man to go by himself.

As they drove there she would notice him slow down at the sight of the cop. She wasn’t surprised but he was smart doing so, even if he wasn’t doing wrong at the moment, cars like his always were targeted it was just one of those unfair facts of life of how things worked. As they parked she would look around, the parking lot filled with typical family vehicles, the park itself filled with kids she smiled to herself the whole situation was funny. As they parked, the car turned off, she listened to Nick, his voice strong and firm but the topic would make her burst out in laughter but instead she would look at him with a strait in the eyes and use her poker face and give a nod. “Really nice? You drive a hard bargain Nick,” she would explain then give a wink at him as she pushed opened the door and stepped out.

As she stood beside the car and closed the door she had this odd feeling come over her, one of a an inner child wanting to get out, run to the swing set where ever they were yelling back at him to come and get her. Maria would fight in the inner child as she would make her way to the path that would lead threw the park, twisting and turning with benches lining some spots along the way. The park was indeed beautiful lush green grass, a child’s play ground which had a few children playing on it, laughing and running around. Maria’s eyes fell on a family who was having a picnic, using the barbecue present, while there was even a few teenagers playing soccer over in the far side of the park. She smiled it was amazing how nice the day was but, she needed to keep her mind in focuses of what was happening here, the whole reason she was here, it was all a job.

Maria turned and looked back at the car to see Nick, she smiled at him, eyes had to stay on the prize, “You coming or what?” She shouted over to him playfully before she looked ahead of the path and started her slow walk her heals clicking against the sidewalk.

"Make a wish... it'll be your last"

Nick had a curious smile on his face as Maria talked about the power of money. For their type of life there was no truer words. There wasn't a single person on the planet you could not buy. It was just a matter of how much or what. Nick got out of his car and took a few steps towards the park. With a clicker in his hands Nick reached backed towards the car and with a beep all the doors locked.

The two walked a little bit but did not get far at all because Nicholas was distracted by a family. It was a mother watching her young daughter jump around on the jungle gym. The daughter was pretty young about seven or so. They looked like an average family but he knew something was wrong about that picture. The father was missing. Sure, most people would just assume the dad was back at him home but Nick knew better. The father had meet the business end of Nick's gun and never lived to tell the tale. Nick hid his grimace by having a blank look upon his face. Maria's comment caused his attention to be pulled back to the present.

"Yeah, yeah I'm coming," Nick said with a smile as his own inner child tried to step out from behind the guilt he was just feeling. The man jogged to short distance in order to catch up with Maria. "It's really a beautiful day." There was a magically quality that a collection of green held. He decided to walk around the sidewalk taking it wherever it lead him. "So, tell me more about yourself Miss Maria Romano."

As Maria’s gaze feel upon Nicholas her mouth spoke then her eyes read him, the man was deep in thought it seemed. A blank expression covered his face but you could tell there was concentration, on what she wasn’t sure, what emotion he was trying to hid he did well because she couldn’t tell what one, whatever it was it was an unpleasant one… the only one people really try and hid. As Maria turned back and continue to walk her gaze would try and search where Nicholas had been looking but… nothing seemed to pop with her. It was a playground, children, a few mothers or care takers sitting on benches watching.

Maria listened to Nicholas’s footsteps as he jogged up beside her to walk with her. She looked over briefly to make eye contact with him as he spoke to her, she gave a nod in agreement, “It really is a beautiful day… especially in a place like this.” As he asked about herself she smiled and shrugged, she had already the bones of a ‘profile’ made up but to many lies, and too much information could get lost, which would cause her major headaches… maybe even death. “Well… Mr. Nicholas Russo,” She started looking over at him, “What would you like to know about me?” She would answer his question with one of her own, but wouldn’t dare leave it unanswered. Leaving to much mystery wouldn’t build trust, no trust means a harder time making deals. “Well… I guess for starters, I was born and raised in New York, I was my Dad’s one and only, he hated seeing me fallow in his shoes,” she said smiling over at him, all of the facts she said were true… just that he was a cop… not a mobster. “Uh… what else… I’m your typical girly-girl in the fact I love animals, but I’m more of a dog person than a cat person, but one of my deep dark secrets is… I love video games.” She brought up her finger as to say, ‘shh’ but made no sound. It wasn’t till after she gave a laugh and shrug.

“So what about you Nick?” She asked as she readjusted her shoulder strap of her purse and gave another look over of the park as she smiled at some of the kids who were now playing on a teeter-totter laughing and screaming as one went down and the other went up. “Where are you from? How’d you get here?” She asked giving him a starting point, and some information she could possible use latter.

If only all her deep dark secrets were so light and equally as fun for him. Actually, being a mobster herself some of her other deep dark secrets might be just as fun. All through killing didn't exactly make for a good conversation to have in the park. Nick didn't mind business would resume soon enough.

"After a while all our stories start to sound the same but I'll give it to you anyways. I'm from a small city a few states away. There is really only one season there and I just didn't like the place anymore. Maybe that is why I think this park is so nice. I'm still not used to the color green. Anyways, when I heard the Don was looking for a new man I decided my new home would be here," Nick said letting her in on a tiny bit of his life story. The real reason he was in the town ran deeper then that. A secret only Vince himself knew...

Nicholas wanted to get to the hard hitting questions like could you be trusted. Are you really who you say you are? Before Nick not jump the gun, he had to learn how she talked normally about everyday life. That way he knew where her "baseline" was. Nick really did hope Maria said who she said he was. He would hate to have to get rid of her. "Swings? I'd offer the see saw but I think we are a little to big for them." Nicholas offered and as they walked. "So tell me, what is you favorite guilty pleasure, in a video game that is," Nick finished with a smirk.

Nicholas life story was the same sounding as many others… or that’s what he led on for it to be. Maria had been around the block a time or two and with working with the organized crime unit like she had been the past months she realized that all these guys like Nick always had a deeper story, maybe he needed to get away from this small town because he was running from something. It didn’t matter at that moment; Maria didn’t need to get into details right then and there. “You’re lucky you got the job,” she would only comment on but Bruno did say Nicholas was good, so luck shouldn’t have been a factor.

Maria smiled as he mentioned about the see-saw, he was watching her stares, studying her. Maria wasn’t surprised, this was a test for both of them, seeing if they could trust one another. “Awe…” She sighed playful looking over at him, “Too bad… but I suppose you’re right… swings will be better anyway.” He continued with her joke about her guilty pleasure, she shrugged, “Racing mostly… There aren’t many places to do actual racing down town New York, plus I wouldn’t have the time for the real thing, so the digital version just has to do,” she went on explaining.

She started to turn them down the one walkway which lead to the swing set, two children sat there swinging back and forth before a mother called their names and they left running leaving the swing set empty and for the taking. “What about you Nick?” Asked as they neared the swing set and she took a seat on one of the swings, “Any guilty pleasures?”

"Yeah sometimes luck is important ," Nickolas said as he moved to a swing set that was free. There was a set closer to them that had two free spots but it also had kids on it as well. It wasn't like he didn't like kids just felt a little odd being such a "big kid" around them. Nick sat down on the swing and started to sway a little. His hands were at his side so it didn't appear like he was going to go very high very soon.

"I have to say that I do like racing. Of course from my car I guess you could expect that I prefer the real thing instead of the video type. I will admit the games are much safer," Nick replied them thought for a moment. "Hmm," he continued with almost a hum like sound, " Other guilty pleasure. I guess parks would fit under that category. I'm unsure if any other guilty pleasures can be said in mixed company."

"So are you ready to make a deal for your supplied? You aren't going to pull anything fun of us right?" Nick said in a joking fashion. He placed his hands on the chains and started off with a kick. "Because I'm having a very nice day with you and I hate for that to be ruined."
There was really no way to tell from that question. Which is likely why he asked it for blatantly. If this really was a sting operation there was no way to really tell when this bee would strike.

As she sat on the swings she started to twist and turn in the seat, allowing the chain to wrap around itself and pointed facing him listening to him. She wore a relaxed playful smile on her face as she continued to listen to his guilty pleaser, it was amazing how easily and relaxed the conversation had managed to stay. Even as he started to ask about business it all seemed like an easy topic, something two friends would sit back and chat about at the end of the day.

“We all know Vince has a reputation when it comes to people who backstab him,” Maria spoke as almost a joke but it couldn’t have been further from the truth. “I’m not a stupid woman either. If the supplies are what we need, and are at the quality that I find suitable I assure a deal will be made.” Her tone was more on the serious side but her eyes still we’re relaxed as if they were still talking of guilty pleasures. She had lifted her feet up off the ground and aloud the chain to unwind sending her around in circles before coming to a stop. She smiled, “Believe me I would hate to have this nice day ruined as well,” she explained laughter in her voice.

Her feet pushed her back as she then let go allowing herself to swing forward a few times before stopping again, placing her feet back down on the gravel she laughed slightly looking at her shoes, but in all honesty she cringed inside, the bran new pair of red Libby Edelman’s heals now has streaks of black dirt on them… destroying things that belonged to the agency that she didn’t have the money for, killed her slightly inside. “Guess I didn’t exactly plan to come to the park today meaning I didn’t wear the right footwear,” she explained lifting the foot up to expect the damage closer… it didn’t seem to bad some water would most likely clean them up.

"Your are such a girl," Nick said with a boyish smile. He kicked his feet so he could get higher on the swing. He let one hand of of the swing and tried to sneak his hand into his pocket while still swinging. The movement was a bit awkward but success was had as he pulled a cell phone. He caused the phone to lite up with a flick.

"I think we might want to head out soon. It is getting kind-of late." he commented and then just as oddly put his phone back in his pocket. Nicholas continued to swing a little bit looking at the ground in-front of him.He wanted to jump off there was a slight sparkle in his eye from the idea. But then he reminded his age and slowed down the "proper way." His feet dragged on the ground a little kicking up a small cloud of dust. "Heh, if we get any more dirty we will have to changed before."

She laughed at his comment, ah if only the guys back at the office could hear that one. “And is that a bad thing?” She would challenge in a joking fashion. Maria watched him pull out the phone check the time she would do the same with her watch, he was right, if they left now then they would be on time for sure, she knew where the place they we’re meeting at, it was once of Vince’s place, where he did lots of his business at the once place. As he stopped and the dust flied she gave another soft laugh. “You’re right… only problem with wearing white,” she explained getting up from the set and dusting off her suit, “Is that it gets dirty so easily.”

Maria would walk by his side as they made their way back through the park towards the car. Her eyes once again scanned the park, noting the children playing again, some of the parents and care takers has noticed them finally but not with harsh looks but ones of curiosity. “Vince knows to bring a sample right?” She asked looking over at him making eye contact to ensure he has heard him. “As I said before last supplier screwed us… I don’t want that happening again,” she reminded him her tone firm but not in the least way threatening.

"Don't you really worry your pretty little head," Nick replied as they walked back to the car. Their walk back seemed pretty normal. Business slowly started to creep into their nice calm afternoon. "Vince has been doing business for years and this deal benefits both of us we should be fine," Nick continued. Once they were close enough Nicolas dug his hand into his pocket and pressed a unlock button on his key chain. The car's headlights lite up for a moment this turned off in a silent confirmation. The more Nick relaxed the more he had a creeping feeling settle in him. Was that a little red flag? Nick exhaled sharply and shook the feeling away. If something was going to go down he definitely could relax long enough to get in the car and drive there. "So are you going to stick around after the deal happened?" Nick asked in pure curiosity. A part of him wanted to know if he was going to make a new friend. He slid into the front seat and then turned to the passenger seat and waiting for her.

Maria smiled; her ‘pretty little head’ wasn’t worried, so what if they were bad guns? The FBI would all of the sudden have a shipment of illegal guns delivered in New York to a ware house with undercover agents. The plan was to document the agreement, document the delivery, and then let it slid. If they played their cards right Maria would be allowed in… allowing them to bag bigger fish. “Fine… I won’t worry, if Vince hires men like himself… I’d say I’m in good hands,” she commented with a smile, a joking flirt she played with as they reached the car.

Her fingers slid across the car as she made her way to the passenger seat and opened the door lowering herself in the car. Nick asked her how long she would stay there… she wasn’t sure yet. “Depends on what kind of business partner Vince wants,” Maria answered closing the door and pulling out the seat belt. “Right now the plan is next week… but, I’m hoping to extend my stay as long as possible,” Maria said smiling as she dug into her purse to pull out her sunglasses and slip them on. “So let’s say if Vince wants some help with the delivering of shipments from overseas… instead of doing telephone calls to me in New York… I can make the call to New York for him after he tells me in person,” Maria explained her idea to him casually. She then shrugged, “All depends on Vince though… if there’s no need for me here, no point in me stepping on toes.”
