Untraveled Road

Fate was somewhat of a funny thing. The things you did or did not do, the people you came into contact with, the words you spoke...everything was essentially tied together somehow. The world had been spared from the annihilation of Meteor, but although the planet had been spared the people inhabiting it were essentially thrown from the frying pan and into the fire. Midgar was in ruins and people were leaving in droves seeking aid and safe haven. A majority of the refugees went to Kalm, including what was left of the Shinra company.

Even former rebellion fighter, Rena Rose, was left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of everything. It was as she was cleaning up the debris of her home that she was surprised to find a familiar face at her doorstep: Cait Sith.

She of course welcomed Cait into her home. Although it was a bit messy after diamond weapon and meteor, it was at least structurally sound, which is more than could be
said of other buildings. She sat and listened to what Cait had to say, and it was a doozy.

Apparently, Rufus Shinra had survived his ordeal with diamond weapon although Cait did not elaborate how. What he did tell Rena was that Rufus had been moved to a compound out in Kalm to recover from his injuries. It was approximately a week ago that Rufus had been taken from said compound. He had refused a security detail with Shinra having been spread so thin and had ordered the Turks to span out and get intel from Midgar. It was a decision Tseng was no doubt kicking himself for.

"I know you've been through a lot, lass," Cait said fiddling anxiously with his cape. "...but we could really use your help right now," Cait went on to say that the Turks were trying to garner leads as to where the president might be, but that Shinra was despised now more than ever and people would not talk to the Turks. However, Rena was an outsider of the fallen company and was someone that people respected. People were more likely to spill the beans to her than they would to anyone in Shinra.

Rena sighed softly as she processed all of this. Rufus Shinra was an interesting character and not one that was particularly liked, but if Cait, and her brother, felt Rufus was worth finding, she believed them. "I make no promises, Cait but...I'll see what I can do." She said agreeing to help. It was mostly intel gathering, so she figured why not?

~*~

As for the former president of the Shinra corporation...things were not going as well as he had hoped. Rufus figured it had been at least two weeks now since he was taken from the Shinra compound in Kalm. The group of thugs that had stormed the compound had taken his gun, placed a cloth over his nose and mouth that had obviously been soaked in some sort of chemical and he had blacked out waking up here...wherever here was. Rufus surmised it was a basement of some sort judging from the fact he could hear voices and walking above him. It was a disturbing room, although prison was more apt of a term. It was luxurious but decked out entirely in crimson with carvings of beasts and human-monster hybrids...it honestly gave Rufus the chills. There were fetters around his ankles that were attached by a heavy chain to a sturdy iron hook on the wall. The restraints were unnecessary given his injuries, but his captor obviously wasn't taking any chances. And so, the president was forced to wait until his Turks finally found him...

Cause one voice is enough,
To make sleeping giants wake up.
To make armies put their hands up.
And watch whole nations stand up.
It's one belief one spark,
One faith and one restart.
And we can reboot the whole chart,
Before it all falls apart.
When we scream,
Our lips don't make a sound.
We march with feet on solid ground.
We walk, where no one wants to go,
On this untraveled road.
