Obsessive Dabbler

Kit was enjoying herself thoroughly when she heard the doorknob rattling. Hastily, she pulled back from Eli, tugging the sheets up over both of them.

"Da?" Beth was rubbing her eyes sleepily, holding her stuffed rabbit by the ears. "Mama?"

"Hey, sweetie," Kit answered wryly, waving at her daughter even while she tried to catch her breath. "Listen, Beth, why don't you go back to bed?" She was already frustrated by the interruption, even if she knew they'd probably been what woke her up.

"No," Beth mumbled, frowning. "Juice?"

"Sure, sure, sweetie, why don't you go get some juice? Someone is probably in the kitchen now."

Ice-Cold Hunter

Eli cleared his throat and couldn't help letting out a breathy laugh. He'd rolled over onto his stomach to hide his little problem. He wasn't about to get up either. "Do as Mama says, Beth. You'll be alright, baby girl." He told her through his soft panting as he too tried to calm down.

Obsessive Dabbler

Beth frowned, then toddled out into the hall, closing the door behind herself with a quiet 'click'. She knew the way to the kitchen, she would be fine.

"It's not funny," Kit told Eli, though she was grinning, too, as she rolled back over him, kissing his chin. They would have to be quick, Beth would come back.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Eli sighed in relief when Beth left. Then he rolled onto his back as his wife covered him again. This time they shouldn't bother with foreplay. Beth would be too quick for that. So he focused on loving his wife immediately. This wasn't how he'd pictured his morning...

Obsessive Dabbler

"We should send her to stay with someone for the night," Kit gasped, doing her best to keep up with him. This hadn't been her idea, either, but if they could ask someone to watch Beth... They could have a proper romp.

A sleepover, with Rex and Mark, maybe.

Ice-Cold Hunter

"Agreed." Eli murmured against Kit's neck. Beth was becoming too smart. She could open doors and appear out of nowhere at the worst times. Someone else could deal with that for one night while Eli and Kit had a little fun for once.

Obsessive Dabbler

Kit didn't like to lock the doors, but sometimes, it was better if Beth was kept out for a little while- and their daughter woke up so easily!

"So," she murmured, when everything was calm again, and she found herself lying on Eli's chest. "I'll talk to Rex and Mark today." The two of them didn't have kids, and Kit had a feeling they would agree to keep an eye on Beth for one night. Actually, now that Kit was thinking about it, Beth ought to've been back by now. What was taking her so long?

Ice-Cold Hunter

Eli thought about that for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. If it's not too much trouble for them." They did have Jesse to entertain, after all.

And it was Jesse who had found Beth wandering all by herself to the kitchen. He'd joined her and gotten her the juice she wanted, and now sat with her at a table in the eating area. "Your Mama lets you wander all by yourself?"

Obsessive Dabbler

"Get juice," Beth shrugged, sipping her grape juice happily. "Mama's with Da." She kicked her feet, smiling lightly. She didn't mind wandering on her own, she knew her way around the base.

Ice-Cold Hunter

"With Da, huh." Jesse murmured with a soft smile as he watched Beth. She seemed very calm and confident when she was all by herself. Just like her father, he supposed. He'd heard many stories about Eli, some good and some bad. "You love your Mama and Da, don't ya?"

Obsessive Dabbler

"Yes." Beth nodded, finishing her juice and putting the cup on the table, scooting around to sit by Jesse. "And you." She barely knew Jesse, but Beth liked just about everyone.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Jesse laughed and placed Beth on his thigh. "Me?" She was a strange one. She didn't even know him very well except that he was "Uncle Jesse", it seemed. "I like you too, Beth. You're a sweet girl." He patted her head.

Obsessive Dabbler

Nobody in the base would ever dare to harm Beth, for fear of Eli- not that any of them would hurt a child. Everybody was Beth's friend, and as a result, she was very affectionate and trusting. Humming happily to herself, Beth reached out for her empty cup, playing with it. "Da's in charge," she informed Jesse. She knew that by heart, her Da was the boss.

Ice-Cold Hunter

"Yeah, I guess he is." Jesse snorted. "He's pretty scary, isn't he?" Beth probably thought her father was the greatest man in the world, but a lot of other people had a different opinion of him.

Obsessive Dabbler

"No." Beth looked up at Jesse with wide-eyed surprise. "Why?" Why would he say something like that? Her Da was a great dad, he was nice, and he told her stories, and gave her cookies... She loved him. She was a little upset that anyone would suggest her Da was mean and scary.
