Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla had a bike of her own, while the rest of her men had sleek cars. Everything was painted to match the sandy terrain, and Leyla tugged on clothing to match, adjusting her earpiece and tapping coordinates into the small screen on the front of her bike before she led the way out through one of the tunnels, speeding outside and zipping around crumbled buildings. Her group would take a variety of other exits, to keep from suspicion, and the way their vehicles were painted would give them a fighting chance to remain undetected.

With her top-tech bike, it didn't take Leyla long at all to catch up to Elijah, matching him speed for speed. His machine looked as old as he was, but she would give him credit, it could race.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Elijah gave Leyla a sidelong glance, but he didn't pay attention to her for long. If she wanted to race, fine. He hadn't given his baby a top-notch engine for nothing. The engine glowed blue as he cranked up the speed, zooming ahead of her. He didn't really care for races, but he hated having someone ride alongside of him. Either she lead or fell back. He wasn't going to tolerate a loud engine in one ear.

Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla had been about to speed ahead of him when a beeping at her ear distracted her, and with a scowl she quickly touched her earpiece. "What?"

"Incoming just ahead of you," Isaac informed her, the sound of his constant typing in the background along with the dull sound of a car engine. "The new guy's drawing attention. I can't get through to him." For some reason, Elijah's earpiece wasn't accepting correspondence. Leyla gritted her teeth and veered off to the west.

"Move it, Rose," she said briskly, glancing up at the sky and spotting the plane Isaac was talking about. "Or you're going to be in pieces." Damned flashy engine of his was like a neon sign. If he'd messed up his earpiece so badly that he couldn't hear her, he was on his own.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Elijah tapped his earpiece. "I think you can handle this on your own. I'll see you there." He said before cutting the connection again. He slowed down so fast that he kicked up dirt and dust around him, then took a sharp turn to the right. He knew a shortcut, one that he knew wouldn't come up on any map. While the others were preoccupied with the devils in the sky, he tapped the screen that sat between the handles of his bike, and successfully put up a cloaking device around himself and his bike.

Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla didn't see where he'd gone, but she had her own problems to deal with. Cursing, she slammed her engine to its limits trying to outrace the explosion the plane had unleashed. Rubble went flying, the vibration from the bomb nearly knocking her and her bike over, and she skidded into a nearby highway tunnel under the cover of the dust and debris. When she saw daylight again, she sped back onto the right course, muttering about the detour that had taken so much time.

Fortunately, she didn't see any more planes, and it was just barely evening when she reached the coordinates Eli's man had given her.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Elijah was waiting for Leyla when she and their combined groups of men arrived at the location. He was leaning against his bike, taking a long drag on his smoke stick. A small girl handed him another slip of paper before running off. As he glanced at Leyla, he slipped the piece of paper into his pocket. "We're safe here. This place is perhaps the best place to be. Its cloaking device are strong, and it's never been hit before." He nodded.

Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla set her bike up next to his, glancing around briefly. "Whose is it?" She wasn't entirely familiar with this area and didn't know how comfortable she was staying in someone else's safe house. If she knew the name, or at least the codename, she could have Isaac make sure it was as secure as Elijah said. It wasn't smart to take him at his word entirely, she still wasn't sure she trusted him. It seemed strange that her city had been bombed only after he had met up with her. There had never been a hit on them before, either- not like that, anyway.

Ice-Cold Hunter

"Mine." Elijah stepped up to the door and tapped the wood. A small panel appeared, and he placed his thumb over it. The panel then disappeared and the door opened to show plain steel walls. There was nothing inside until he touched another wall panel, which revealed stairs that led down. Not too far down. He didn't like being a caged rat. "Set up everything you need down there. Don't worry about electricity supply. There's plenty." He told her as he descended the steps slowly.

Obsessive Dabbler

Quietly, Leyla followed him down the stairs, sliding a hand over her pocket and waving Isaac in after her. If she was walking into a trap, she had her gun at the ready. Something told her she wouldn't need it, but habit dictated that following a stranger into an unknown place dictated a certain level of caution, and she wasn't going to break that habit. It was strange and uncomfortable, being off of her home turf and onto his- she didn't know how to respond.

Ice-Cold Hunter

"Don't try to pull a gun on me." Elijah told Leyla as he continued on, not looking back at her. It truly showed how much of a novice she was when she kept her hand so close to her weapon. She gave herself away easily, and any enemy would have taken her out without a second thought. "You're not fast enough." He said simply before they came to a pitch down room at the end of the stairs. He hit the wall with his fist and the whole room became illuminated. All his computers and other machines turned on as well, showing different coordinates and video screens of what all his cameras outside of the building caught.

"Do what you need to do here. I'm going to bed."

Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla just watched him leave, then turned to Isaac, ignoring the look on his face that so clearly stated how confused he was. With good reason, too- it had to be confusing, this strange, constant power shift between Leyla and Elijah. "Get to work," she said simply, gesturing. "Might as well get comfortable, it will take some time to rearrange our situation."

She had another base in construction, but it would be months yet before that was ready.

Ice-Cold Hunter

Elijah's private room was separated by a small sliding door from the main workroom that everyone had gathered in. The space was large, and the tunnels went under most of the town. He could sneak through the tunnel system and end up in each building if he wanted to, without any detection. As he laid in bed, he took out a pair of ordinary sunglasses and put them on.

After pulling a simple black glove on his right hand, he activated the device. It brought up many large maps, one being the map of his whole base. He could track everyone's movements, especially that hothead Leyla's.

Obsessive Dabbler

Isaac was pulling maps of the safe house up onto a large screen, and Leyla halted her pacing long enough to glance at them, committing them to memory- she didn't want to end up asking Eli where anything was. She was sure that telling Isaac to probe the computers wouldn't give her any more information on this Desert Rose, so she didn't even bother. Finally, she dropped into a chair, closing her eyes and breathing for a moment.

"Isaac, contact my workers and tell them to double their pace, please. I don't care what it costs, I want to be under my own roof again as soon as possible."

Ice-Cold Hunter

Elijah took another blood reading. Normal.

He was lucky he was still breathing. His morning had not been one of the easiest, nor had it been his worst. Of course, it could have gone smoother had he not needed to seek out Leyla for her damned money. He was short on funds for his informants. One of which he needed to call. Standing, he left his comfortable bed to join the others in the main room, finding that Leyla and her techie were being predictable.

Elijah ignored them and sat in his usual chair in front of the biggest screen, he closed down the maps that Leyla had put up as he brought up a video of the activity outside. Fairly normal. "Call Kyle." Thank goodness for voice activation.

Obsessive Dabbler

Leyla barely glanced up at him, she was leaning over Isaac's shoulder, gesturing at his laptop's screen as she murmured to him. Their men were filtering in, now, and as each of them found a place, Leyla straightened up, sighing. "What are all of you doing in here? Go on." Eli's men had already slipped into the tunnels, heading for living quarters, and Leyla sent her small group after them, then headed down another pass herself to explore the place.

Isaac would be just fine with Eli.
