Welcome to Gaia! ::

Getting up to help him, Reiko listened attentively, smiling at the descriptions of the riches that she had never seen before in her life. It was exciting for her to finally be going to the capital, even if they had a price on their heads.

"What's the capital like?" Reiko asked Kayden as they finished putting their things away into the packs. She had stored Eagle on her side, feeling Flame's warm pulse against her back.

As they walked, Kayden spent hours explaining the glory of the capital. Their country had spent thousands of years building the capital city, home of the emperor, to its marvelous glory. The wooden houses towered into the sky, every street decorated and celebrated as hundreds of thousands of people traded and sold their goods. The most wondrous things could be found in the capital, the strongest fighters, the greatest mercenaries, the worlds most priceless jewels, anything you could imagine could be found in the capital. But most wondrous of all these things, were the capitals walls. The walls were made of runic stones and iron, towering at least a hundred feet in the air. The capitals inner cities wooden structures leaned up against the walls, some of them going even higher than the walls. At any moment within the busy streets of the capital one could look up and see hundreds of bridges connecting the many multistory buildings which made the capital city much like a jungle of houses, an easy place to get lost in.

When Kayden spoke of the capital, and all its riches, Reiko could see the image passing before her eyes. She could see all the battle-scarred heroes, the tiny alleys crammed with jewel shops, and the prestine walls that protected the city. She breathed in, and could almost smell the smells of markets and animals around her. Glaring lights made her blink once more, and she realized with a jolt that the great walls were in sight, though half a mile away. So much time had passed as they walked.

"So many guards," Reiko murmured, shading her eyes to have a closer look. "Are we going to go in through the main entrance? They may be looking for you, Kayden."

Kayden smiled "Well as you can see, the giant walls are guarded by hundreds of archers, thousands of soldiers, and siege weaponry to boot." however Kayden did not stop walking forward towards the front gates. Just out of clear view of the guards Kayden turned to Reiko and placed his hand over his face. "Illucio" he said and his face turned into that of a completely different man. However, even though he looked completely different, he still kept his big dumb smile as he turned and made his way through the massive gates.

Jogging to keep up with Kayden, Reiko kept one hand touching his sleeve, just in case she forgot what he looked like now and they lost each other in the crowd, which looked enormous from her perspective. Reiko clung even closer once they passed through the gates, and thousands of people crowded her from every side. The air was almost suffocating, and she had to look up to the sky to be able to breathe. There seemed to be unrest within the walls, and many of the shopkeepers were wearing scowls on their faces, their hands on the leads of animals that Reiko had never seen.

Kayden wrapped his arm around hers and held her tight to make sure she didn't get lost. If she got lost in the capital he may never find her again. Kayden however knew his way around the capital and he quickly moved from street to street pulling her through the dense crowds of people. After several turns and stretches of road, the dense city began to become more urban, houses were larger and farther apart, and they also looked fancier. As they kept walking the houses only became richer and richer and at the end of the road was a white wall with a golden gate and royal guards posted along the top of the wall. People in fancy robes were walking in and out of the gates, and it became obvious that this was the royal library and magic university.

As they approached the gates, Kayden walked up to the guard in the booth to the side of the gates. The guard was angry looking and didn't acknowledge them as they walked up. "Can I help you?" he said without looking at them. Kayden smiled a wide grin "How ya doin ya slow b*****d?" he said cockily and the guard gave him a strange look "Whats that supposed to mean?" he said sitting up. Kayden leaned in to whisper in the guards ear "Who is the thunders laud haler?" Kayden said in a whisper. The guard stood up looking like he had seen a ghost and slammed his fist on a square part of the wall and a secret door in the wall opened where he pulled them both through quickly. On the other side of the wall the man nearly screamed "KAYDEN YOU'RE ALIVE!!!" as he gave him a huge hug. "Yes Dante I am still alive." he said with a big smile as he had to push his friend off him. "You have no idea how I have missed you old friend!" Dante said leading them down a dark corridor. "I see you've got a new girlfriend, just like old times!" he said laughing loudly as Kayden simply rubbed the back of his neck and smiled in embarrassment.

As they were led down the corridor Dante explained how bad the imperial army had gotten, how the taxation was worse than ever, more guards hounding the poor citizens. People in despair thinking their was no hope. The situation in the capital was worse than anywhere.

{I'm in need of sleep ;_; I'll be on tomorrow!}

Walking through the hallways, Reiko remained silent while listening to Dante and Kayden's discussions. She spent most of the time gazing up at the riches, incredibly intimidated by the lavish expensive of it all. Though the gate seemed busy, Reiko could not see many people in the corridors, which surprised her. As they passed by windows, she was able to see a better view of the street, and understood why Kayden kept her so close after seeing a mother accidentally separate from her child, who was pushed further away quickly by the crowd. Many merchants, she noticed, were selling clothing, and she made a mental note to get out early and buy the men's clothes she wanted, probably using some excuse about a husband or nephew.

(Night night ^_^ I'll be on all day tomorrow)
As they came to the grand hall Dante motioned for them to stay outside. Peering inside, nearly a hundred students were practicing meditation and Hitori was in front of 4 other Grand Mages. Dante spoke quickly into Hitori's ear and Hitori himself almost fell over as he had the same expression as Dante had. As Hitori got up, all the other students got up and bowed as he hurriedly left the room. Upon seeing Kaydens illusion face, he ran his hand across Kaydens face wiping it away and gasping. "You idiot why did you come here!" Hitori said pulling them around a corner. After a few turns and a couple corridors he pushed open the doors to an empty room where nobody was walking through the halls. "Stay here, shut up and don't move, I'll come back tonight." Hitori said looking both ways before tossing them into the room and slamming the doors behind them. Reiko and Kayden were left alone "Well that's Hitori for ya!" he said giggling as he laid back next to her and spanked her a**. "We can either train or... have some fun." Kayden said with a devious grin.

Reiko was so absorbed with the decorations around her that for a moment, she didn't realize that Kayden was speaking to her; she was so used to him doing all the talking to others. When she realized what had happened, her eyes jumped to his face once more.

"Umm.." she murmured, blushing. It was a hard decision. Her reply was to lean down and touch her lips to Kayden's, smiling back at him. After all, they had all the time in the world to train, but love was a more secret game.

Kayden and Reiko spent several hours 'having fun' before Kayden realized it was nightfall and he would rather not have Hitori catch him having sex with a girl... again. So he put his clothes back on and began to teach Reiko the basics of Magic. "The first thing you should know is that every living person has Chi within them, how much is dependent on their own training and their natural ability to manifest more of it." Kayden said sitting cross legged in front of her. "In order to increase your pool of Chi, you must use it all, and then let it rebuild itself, sort of like working out your muscles. When you work out really hard you become tired and have no more energy, the same concept applies to chi usage." Kayden now turning around, and resting his head in her lap. "However, in order to use all of your chi you must know magic. Each magical spell requires a certain amount of chi in order to form, if you do not have enough chi, you cannot preform the spell and if you use all of your chi, you will die." Kayden said looking up into her eyes with an expression of worry.

Reiko had donned her own robe once more while she listened to Kayden. Now, with his head in her lap, she stroked his hair gently, staring down into his eyes. She had not heard of 'chi' before, but it did remind her of other things that she had heard of.

"In our village, we heard about mana, which sounds like chi," Reiko said thoughtfully. "The stories tell about heroes who had more mana in their bodies than most humans. They trained their bodies long and hard in the mountains to build their already extensive stores of mana, and that enabled them to perform extraordinary deeds. In the end, many gave in to pride, and used up their mana doing selfish things, and caused their bodies to fall apart. Did things like that actually happen?" She wasn't worried about using up her own chi or mana, as the stories told by her mother when she was a child had warned her about using powers selfishly.

"Chi, Mana, Energy, Power, Magic they all mean the same, basically the amount of magical energy you are able to dispose of." Kayden said taking her hand within his own and massaging it. "I don't know about using magic selfishly, because plenty of people use magic for evil deeds and they keep on living..." Kayden said rolling his cheek into the hand that was playing with his hair. "However you can accidentally use all your chi and die, but it is pretty obvious when you are low as all your energy runs dry and you feel like you can no longer move." Kayden said kissing her fingers.

"Like how you were when you came to us," Reiko remembered, her eyes widening as she made the connection. The two times she had seen Kayden use magic sparked two different reactions; the first time, he nearly collapsed, but he was absolutely fine. So chi wasn't something to be fooled around with at all without knowledge.

"So, it's impossible to use your chi up without knowing magic?" she asked.

"Yes and no." Kayden said nuzzling his head into her lap. "The only way for you to harm yourself with chi is by using it all, however, certain weapons and spells can also drain your chi until you die." Kayden said putting her arm on his chest and holding it. "There used to be a famous swordsman who had a sword that would drain the chi of anyone near it as soon as it unsheathed, and since a normal persons chi is very low, he would end up killing many innocent bystanders who didn't have the chi to survive." Kayden said holding her tight as if he was worried for her safety. "You may one day come across a swordsman like that, let's hope you are ready by then." Kayden said kissing her hand.

As he finished his sentence Hitori and Dante entered the room. Dante closed the door behind them and Kayden sat up and bowed respectfully. "Sorry to come back all the sudden like this Hitori, but I had nowhere else to run." Kayden said bowing his head low. Hitori sat cross legged in front of him but his face was stern and cold. "Shut up Kayden and come give me a hug!" Hitori said opening his arms with a big smile. Kayden jumped over like a 10 year old boy and hugged Hitori like a bear "Ok ok!" Hitori said laughing as he pushed him off, Kayden sitting back next to Reiko. "So why did you come here? Just to hide?" Dante said sitting next to Hitori. "No, I came to train my apprentice in magic, and..." Kayden looked at Reiko as if he needed to apologize for something. "I am going to use this as a base so I can restart the rebellion." Kayden said coldly. Hitori and Dante looked shocked. "But Kayden, the Imperial Army is more powerful than ever now with the 12 at their command, why would you choose to restart the rebellion now?" Hitori said leaning over in concern.

Kayden paused for a moment, looked at Reiko, and pulled her closer to him. "As you probably heard, the 12 hunted me down and killed me." Kayden said placing his head on Reiko's shoulder. "This would have been true had this girl not saved me on the brink of death." Kayden said kissing Reiko's cheek lightly. "For months her village cared for me, brought me back to health, and then even made me a Dojo to train their young men." Kayden said, his face distraught with anger "Then they got word I was in the village." Hitori's expression changed as soon as Kayden had spoken those words. "They killed everyone, didn't they." Hitori said, but Kayden only nodded.

"The Imperial Army, must be stopped." Kayden said with a fury in his eyes he had not shown before. Hitori and Dante, who were supporters of the first rebellion, understood, and simply nodded. "You will need to gather an elite group of soldiers yourself, to combat the 12, and you will need an army, even if it is a secret army, you will need one." Hitori said fingering his long white beard. "You can use my home as a base, but let no one see you, and only use the secret entrances to leave and enter, do not use the main gate." Hitori said getting up. "Sleep well, tomorrow will be a busy day." Hitori said as Dante closed the door behind them.

Once Hitori and Dante had left, Reiko stood up and went to the small window in one corner, through which shone the dim light of twilight. She looked through it, gazing down at the main street that lead to the largest building she'd ever seen, most likely the main palace. Below her, the path was still crowded, but the people more distinguishable. Especially one man, making his way resolutely towards the palace...

"Brother!" Reiko gasped, almost leaning fully out of the window as her brother approached the guard at the palace gate, his face looking calm and collected. She whirled around, grabbing Eagle and dashing towards the door. A strong hatred had arisen in her, and all she wanted to do was stick Eagle into his body and watch him fall to the ground dead, a death he deserved.
