Of course, Reiko had stopped fooling herself into thinking that she could stay balanced without help. The moment the horse started moving, she grabbed Kayden around the waist, clinging to him tightly to keep herself balanced. The speed for the first few seconds caused her to shake in fear for a few moments, but once she opened her tightly shut eyes, it grew easier and she was able to calm down more.

Kayden laughed as he whipped the reigns and pushed Thunderfury even faster. They were moving so fast that a trail of fire was left in their wake everywhere they went.

They caught up to the army quite quickly and burned a path right past them riding far in front. Astonished soldiers held their equipment tightly as they passed and Kayden didn't stop as he passed Gigan at the front. Riding far beyond the front Kayden turned, running the horse straight into the front of the army at full speed. As Gigan saw him approach he couldn't help stop his horse from reeling. As Kayden quickly approached them he pulled on the reigns at the last second causing his horse to screech to a halt, leaving shrubs and grass on fire from Thunderfury's lightning hooves.

"Nice horse you got me!" Kayden said with a smile to Gigan.

The moment that Thunderfury came to a halt, Reiko took a shaky breath, releasing Kayden's middle and regaining her bearings. She glanced back at the rows and columns of men, at the grass, at anything that would keep her from fainting or anything worse. How Kayden could handle such a fast beast was a mystery to her.

Gigan laughed as he pushed his horse forward again and the army began marching once more. "Yes, it was actually a gift from an old friend of yours, some old man named Hitori said you'd like it. We couldn't figure out how he found our camp or how he got a horse into it without being seen but there was a note saying it was for you." Gigan said smiling now that Kayden was riding beside him.

"So you wanted to tell me something?" Kayden said positioning his horse right next to Gigans. "Yes actually, if you hadn't noticed." Gigan said pointing behind him to the marching army. "We have no banner to fly behind, we are nothing but bandits until we have a flag and it has the men worried, was wondering if you had any ideas for a banner." Gigan said looking to Kayden again for leadership.

Kayden scratched his chin and leaned his head back onto Reiko's shoulder letting her hold him up. Then looking over to Rai and Jin who were staring at him curiously Kayden looked up at Reiko and then it clicked. "Why don't you design our banner Reiko?" Kayden said smiling.

"Me?" Reiko asked, astonished. She did not have much experience with or knowledge of design or art, not to mention the chance of the absence of talent. A lot of pressure weighed down on this assignment, but she also knew that Kayden had faith in her, and would only ask her to do something that he knew she could do. That decision had already been made.

"I will do my best," she said, her mind already racking through its contents to think of inspiration. Of course, the obvious sign dancing in front of her was a lightning bolt, strong and true, the same colour that erupted from Kayden's sword when he swung. Nothing else could symbolize the rebellion better than the "bolt from the blue" which had returned to finish what it started.

"Damn, no warning whatsoever," Cecil moaned, perched in the window of Kayden and Reiko's former room. The two of them forgot to leave a note when the disappeared for the rebellion, and while Cecil knew who they were with, her time in the palace caused her to be behind on the location of the troops. Sending a letter would be pointless, even with this kind of news, no matter how important.

It's not like I have time to go find them, Cecil thought, moaning lowly again and rubbing her temple. What'm I gonna do?
--
Just yesterday, she was walking through the hallways when Miyamoto had appeared out of nowhere, a serious expression on his face. As per usual, she cracked a normal "Kuronuma" joke, but her other master was not amused. Instead, he had lead her into his office, and sat down, glowering at her.

"Don't act like Kuronuma when I know you aren't him," Miyamoto growled, holding up a hand when Cecil's mouth had nearly dropped open. "Kuronuma kept a tight budget, and I've been noticing holes in our work, money flowing to a different source. Kuronuma also never walked around outside as much; he would do his business and come back here immediately."

She had been caught. Cecil couldn't believe it. She wrapped her mind around the situation, trying to find a way out of it. She ended up smiling and laughing.

"Sir, I don't know what you speak of," she said.

"I salute you, though, for keeping up the ruse so long, and refusing to acknowledge the truth," Miyamoto said. "I myself did not notice until two days ago, and we are the only two in this palace to know the truth. However, this does not change my next assignment for you."

He leaned forward so that the two of them were face to face, candlelight turning the office frightening. "One of the spies saw Reiko leaving the city and heading out to the country. Your job, whether you are actually Kuronuma or a spy, is to find her in the country, rebellion or no, and bring her back. If you fail to bring her back in a month, I will expose you, because Kuronuma would have succeeded in that amount of time. Then, the rebellion will be in greater jeopardy."

Miyamoto leaned back into his seat. "That is all. You may go."

Cecil left calmly, showing no sign of fear, but once she returned to her quarters she swore and pounded on the bed. Then she departed as her usual self to speak with Kayden, to see what he would say. She wasn't too worried, but something about Miyamoto's words had chilled her.
--
Now she sighed again, looking back out over the city. "Well, I guess I have to head out there anyway. Better start while there's still light." She slipped a hood over her head, turning back to Kuronuma and heading out of the city, acting as a traveler on official business. Once she had picked up on Kayden and Reiko's trail, which smelled particularly of grain, she figured that due to relative freshness, it would take her a day at the most to reach them.

Gigan laughed at the awkward look on Reiko's face. "Don't worry girl you'll do fine." Gigan said laughing, Kayden only smiling up at her. As they marched the Yaimura settlement came into view and Gigan ordered the advanced cavalry to round the settlement and slaughter any scouts that may retreat to the capital or nearby city. As the cavalry rode by Kayden pointed towards the city, his head still resting in Reiko's chest. "When I was a boy my father took me to the top of Yaimura's walls when he was there visiting the governor. I remember being able to see everything, the vast fields of rice, to the stables and ranches of the pig farmers and horse breeders. While not anywhere near as powerful or high as the walls of the capital, I always viewed the walls as something that would keep me safe." Kayden said, rubbing Reiko's leg.

"When we have conquered these walls, they will keep us and the villagers safe as well," Reiko murmured, smiling down at Kayden. "That's why we should fight to make this settlement ours." She watched the calvary ride on, admiring the strong beauty of the small city.

Gigan looked over to Kayden again "Shall we bring up the battering rams and catapults?" Gigan said to Rai, Jin, and Kayden. "Yes!" Rai and Jin said together but right after Kayden said "No need." and Rai and Jin gave him a puzzled look. "Catapults cause too many extra deaths, this is where me and my apprentice will come in handy." Kayden said smiling and he whipped Thunderfury into a run again. "Have the troops march for the gates, they will be open!" Kayden yelled back at them as he rode straight for the walls at lightning speed.

Reiko saw the gate coming closer and closer with every second. She touched Kayden's shoulder, leaning forward to speak into his ear. "How are we going to take care of the guards?" she asked.
There were not that many of them, but they could always call for more when hearing the approaching horse. "Should we each take one side?"

As they rode the towers to the east and west of the main gate became visible, windows were made for archers and Kayden pointed hastily to them as they sped ever closer. "I'll take the east tower and you take the west, inside each tower should be a gate lever, pull down both and the gates will fall, making this all the cleaner of a victory!" Kayden yelled as the rushing wind was loud and distracting at this speed. "After we have dropped the gate, start killing all the soldiers on the walls, avoid any civilian casualties!" Kayden said leaning Thunderfury towards the west tower. "Now go!" Kayden yelled grabbing Reiko by the collar and pulling on Thunderfury's reins launching her into the air towards the west tower.

Gasping as she was launched into the air, Reiko braced herself as she impacted with the side of the tower, grabbing the nearest windowsill before she plummeted to the ground. She vaulted into the tower, drawing Eagle and immediately cutting down an archer guard who happened to be standing there. The guard at the next closest window shot an arrow at her, which grazed her skin as she dodged and took him down as well. Then she paused for a moment, not knowing which way the lever was.

"I have to kill guards anyway," she remembered, then began to dash up the stairs. She stole a bow and a quiver of arrows from one of the dead soldiers, and used it to kill more guards before they realized what was going on. Archery was one of those skills that she had learned as a child, and now she realized how useful it was.

After clearing out the top, Reiko searched the tower for a few minutes before finding the switch, cleverly hidden by a wall. She hit it and listened to the gate grow weaker, grinning in triumph before finding herself surrounded by guards. They were easy to dispatch, and she fought her way up onto the main walls.

As Reiko was launched towards the western tower Kayden burnt his own path up the eastern tower. Riding to the wall he jumped off Thunderfury and clang to a loose brick on the wall. "Path of Thunder." Kayden spoke as he again became as fast as sound and ran up the side of the wall and into the window of the topmost guard tower killing three guards in less than a second. The lever was pathetically guarded and Kayden pulled it down with ease, releasing half of the bolts holding up the gate, now it was up to Reiko to finish the rest.

Clearing onward Kayden made his was down the tower, killing guard after guard after guard on his way to the wall level which many archers were patrolling still unaware of the attack. Noticing Kayden and the strewn bodies around him, the guards panicked and tried to draw their weapons, but in a blink of an eye Kayden had already dismembered them, moving onward to the governors mansion at the top of the hill upon which the city was built.

Reiko, though not as fast as Kayden, certainly blazed a similar path along the wall. Many of the guards and archers simply weren't expecting a female to be attacking, and were dead before they could react. She moved towards the mansion with firm resolve, keeping a steady fast pace to be able to reach it as quickly as possible.

Jumping up on a small post right in front of the mansion, Reiko quickly surveyed the ground she had just passed through, looking out for any more guards. All were dead except one, and as he fired off an arrow towards her with the last of his strength, she grabbed it in its path, turned it, and shot it back into his chest. Pleased with her work, she jumped off the post and proceeded further towards the mansion.

As Kayden charged forward he heard the crash of the main gate behind him and the clamor of guards trying to figure out what was happening. The eastern wall had been completely cleared of guards and Kayden burst down the tower into the barracks where the rest of the contingent of guards were trying to get geared up for the battle. However, as Kayden burst through the roof the whole room stopped to look at him for a moment as he rose from the dust. Kayden opened his eyes and saw a room full of weaklings and cowards, charging up his chi the room began to quiver as he eyes became blue, overflowing with power as a sort of thick blue steam erupted from all of Kaydens orifices.

Terrified and confused the entire room full of soldiers bolted for the door. "Final Flash." Kayden spoke and the entire tower and barracks exploded a massive wave of lightning hitting the roof and splitting it down the center and causing it to burst into a million pieces.

The force of the explosion, though rather far away from Reiko, was still enough to force her to the ground. The wind picked up fragments of the building and flung them at her, and she shielded her arms with her face. Since the tower was higher up, not as much fell to the town below.

That'll make an impression, she thought.
