Once her aunt left Kawaii was content looking at herself a little more in the mirror. Of course she was not vain or anything that she would be there the entire time, what she really was looking at lay around her neck. Picking up the smooth cold gold object she examined it once again flipping it open graced with her parents photos again she smiled. Letting it drop back against her soft skin she sighed and looked up again in the mirror. She had to hurry and make amends before her aunt left without her; though she wasn't sure how she could do such a thing when her parents just died. She was sure that she would have to be strong for a while, breaking down and crying every time someone mentioned her parents wouldn't be a good thing. Running her fingers through her bangs and down the sides of her hair she stared into the mirror some more taking in the way the locket looked against her skin. Her head snapped back towards the door as she heard the voice of her brother as he came down the hall but she couldn't quite make out what he was saying. She wouldn't strain to listen though simply because she was still mad at him for earlier. So unless he was coming to apologize she really didn't want to hear anything he had to say.

The small girl was so entranced by the locket that she didn't notice the opening of the door nor the footsteps. What she did notice was the arms that wrapped around her waist and for a moment it scared her, until she realized who it was. Her heart still was beating at a thousand miles per hour, and her breath quicken slightly. This wasn't a special reaction this happened when she was touch by any man for that matter. 'Baka calm down it's just your brother,' she mentally scolded her self though she was still conscience of the strong arms that enveloped her. Even though he spoke in a cutesy voice trying to get her to forgive him she still knew that the person who held her was a man... not a boy. She hadn't really noticed until now, she never had any reason to notice before, with a deep sigh she spoke. "Onii-san you really hurt me," her eyes stayed downcast as she continued to talk, "I'll forgive you this time." 'Though if there is a next I can't promise you as much,' she couldn't help but think it, even though she doubted there would be a next time.

She could feel his breath lacing her neck and it sent shivers down her spine, she really needed him to stop holding her right now. Of course she knew her brother meant her no harm and would act like this wasn't affecting her because he was unaware. Her breathing soon slowed to a steady non hyperventilating pace and she began to relax a little. To tell the truth Kawaii was a little afraid of men, which is why her brother had scared her so bad. Nothing had happened in the past to allow the fear to surface it's always just been there. The only person man that never scared her was her father,he was always nice to her and loved her unconditionally. Squeezing her eyes shut she sighed and leaned against her big brother, there wasn't much that she could do until he let go of her.

Alex sighed, "I know..." he said. He loosened his grip, and took her hands. "I'm sorry. I was just really tired, well, I still am.... but..I didn't want... I didn't want to believe that..." he let his voice trail off, unable to say anything about his parents. He released her hands, and pulled his arms to his side, stepping back. "We should probably go," he said. He didn't want to go. He didn't want to leave. Why couldn't they just stay here? He knew why. They were still technically minors, even though Alex was getting close to his eighteenth birthday. On that day, he'd already planned, he was leaving for Japan. He didn't want to stay here anymore, especially with his aunt. She was too... wild for his taste, and he wondered how the next few months would lay out for him.

Alex looked at his sister. "You look so much like your dad," he said, regretting it immediately. But, he wasn't lying to her. She looked more like her dad, than their mother. Alex looked like his dad, more than their mother. Probably why the two didn't look that much alike. Alex was about to apologize, but was startled by his phone ringing. It was his dad. He shook his head, but answered anyway, "Hello?"
"Alexander?"
"Mhmm"
"I heard about your mother.... I'm so sorry," he sounded like he was crying too. He shouldn't be. He was married now. To somebody else.
"Is Ricky okay?" he asked.
"He locked the door and won't come out,"
Alex sighed, "Alright. I'll call him later,"
"I'll try to come by your aunts today,"
"Alright,"
"Goodbye,"

Alex put his phone in his pocket, then stepped forward, "Ricky and my dad might come by later," he said simply. "Come on." he said holding out his hand for her. He gave her a half smile that was shadowed with sadness. He shook his head. How did this happen? Why did this happen? So many questions, not enough answers.

[O o C] This is horrible.... i'm sorry

_______ As he sighed his breath traveled down Kawaii's neck and chest causing another shiver through her body. Squeezing her eyes closed tightly her eyes she silently wished that he would let go quickly and stop letting his fluttery breath touch her. His strong arms warmed her and breath warmed her completely she hadn't realized she had been cold until then. "I know...," he spoke and more warm butterflies escaped covering her chest and neck. 'He knew? He knew?' Kawaii had a feeling he didn't know exactly how much he'd hurt her, she had a feeling he would never know. Calling her crazy, saying that she was just vying for more attention wasn't something she was willing to let go. But she also knew how much he'd been hurt he'd also lost his mother, and that was the only reason she could let it go. Losing ones parents at such a young age, could cause a lot of pain and she knew it all to well. If he was feeling half of the pain that she was then she could accept his attitude for now and she would let it go. Though his next statement only affirmed her thoughts and only brought more sympathy from her.

_______ As he loosened his grip she felt his heat and the fiery butterflies no longer assaulted her skin. Then he took her hands and honestly she couldn't find the will to look up at him. Even though she'd said she'd forgiven him there was still a small part of her that really wanted to hurt him. To kick him and scream at him to tell him that she hated him with a passion, but that would only be misplaced anger. In fact she loved him like he was her real brother and taking all of her anger out on him would be wrong. Besides the fact that her brother was a skater she was sure that he was more than ripped. Not to mention the fact that she was a lot smaller than him, it would be like Mario versus King Kong, and she would be killed. Though she knew her brother would never physically hurt her she still was not ignorant to the fact that she was weaker and smaller than him. As his hands enveloped hers her hands became warm in his which was only to be expected. She then found it in her to look up at him now, feeling her eyes connect with his she was prepared for whatever he would say.

_______ "I'm sorry. I was just really tired, well, I still am.... but..I didn't want... I didn't want to believe that..." As he repeated his apology Kawaii believed it a little more and did not drop her eyes at this point as she would normally do. She would find the courage today to look people in the eyes because now that her parents were gone Kawaii had only her brother. It wasn't that she thought her brother would not be able to efficiently take care of her it was mostly that she wanted to be able to do it herself. She would find her own self now and she would have to now that her safety net was gone, which used to be her family. She hadn't realized it until she looked at his eyes and noticed that he did look tired. He had been up all night she remembered making him some thing to snack on before going to bed last night. He was a hard worker and was only tired, this was understandable, and to be hit with this must had sent him over the edge. She felt really bad for having been angry and not even trying to understand him before only blaming him. The last of his statement sent a pang through her heart and she was thankful that he hadn't mentioned their parents. She felt a lump form at the back of her throat before swallowing it, she wouldn't cry anymore today she promised herself.

_______ Upon releasing her hand she felt the warmth leave and a bit of disappointment settled in. The cold feeling returned to her hands, her body didn't retain heat very well so she was just about always cold. Watching his hands returned to his sides she wanted him to be close to her again. She felt safe in her brothers arms even though his breath would assault her she really didn't mind any more. She would grab a blanket from her room later and use that to keep her warm instead later. "We should probably go," She didn't want to leave, but then again she did there were to many memories that haunted this place. She wouldn't be able to bare staying here anyways so why stay? Staying would be unhealthy for her and she knew that therefore she would not fight them on going to her aunts house. Besides her aunt was probably waiting on them so they should leave now not to keep her waiting for them. She'd never been to her aunts house before so she would finally get to see it, her aunt owned a spa and lived in it so it should be interesting.

_______ "You look so much like your dad," these words caught he by surprise but once they were spoken she felt her head lower in that defeated position. She was sure he meant nothing by even though she did look a lot like her father and she knew it. The words had shot an arrow through her heart and she felt it all to much. Taking in a shaky breath she thought her brother was going to say something of course his phone rang just in time. She had a good mind to just leave him there but she would wait for him to finish his call. If he had something more to say she would stop and listen to what he wanted to say and stop trying to push him out. To be honest that's exactly what she had been trying to do the entire time they had been a 'family'. It wasn't that she didn't like him she just didn't like letting him in or any one at that matter not even her parents. She hadn't really paid much attention to his conversation but once he managed to tell her that his father was coming she furrowed her eyebrows. She really had to wonder why, wasn't he married to another woman now?

Of course he would want to pay his respects to his dead ex-wife. So she only took her brothers hand and was ready to face this with him now was the time.

Alex sighed, leading his sister out. His body was all shaky and it was really starting to get to him. Alex held out his finger for her to wait a moment, and he went inside his room, picking up his stuff. He went to a drawer and pulled out something he'd barely remembered. She wouldn't need it for a couple of years, but he wanted to make sure he had it then. It was supposed to be what she wore on graduation night. His mother gave it to him for safe keeping because Kawaii's dad didn't know about it. She'd stolen money from him, and used it. When there was a big hole in the bank account, she'd offered to do the book for him so she could cover up what she did. She couldn't just leave it sitting in their room because it would probably be noticed when he went through the drawers every so often. She figured the safest thing was the give it to Alex. Alex put the box in the smaller bag, and slung it over his shoulder. Was he forgetting anything else? He had to think no, but if he was, he could come back.

The last thing Alex grabbed was his board, and he walked out, looking for his sister. He found her in her room with her things. "Come," he said, nodding at the door. He'd follow her out. Just in case, he grabbed the extra keys and slipped them in his pocket without his aunt noticing. Well, how could she, she was outside. She'd opened the trunk, and Alex put his stuff inside. He took Kawaii's form her, and put it in too. His aunt had already gotten inside. Alex let his sister ride shotgun, and got in the backseat. He couldn't recall the last time he'd been in his aunt's car, but he didn't really care for it. It was dusty, and the windows needed some serious cleaning.

Alex watched outside the window, and saw people doing normal things; driving around, walking, window shopping, asking for money, carrying children. He noticed things he'd never noticed before like certain signs, and stores. He remembered taking this same route when he went to his dad's house for the first time after the split. Kawaii had stayed at home. The whole ride, all Ricky wanted to do was show Alex his Pokemon cards. A few times, Alex just had to shut him up. His dad pointed out certain places he liked to go, and certain people he thought were nice. Alex in turn had gotten to know these places and people when his dad would take him. His absolute favorite place to go with his dad was the bakery that they were passing now. He smiled, knowing that when his dad came by later, he'd have something from there.

"Have you heard from your father?" his aunts voice asked, startling him. It took him a minute to remember what was happening. When he remembered, he frowned. "Ye-yeah, He said he'd come by later," he said, nodding. "Do you want him to come over? If you don't, I can make up an excuse," she said. For some reason, she never really liked his dad. "No. It's fine. I want to see him," he said. He could hear a sigh of frustration, as she continued driving. Alex leaned his head on the window again, and decided he was bored. He pulled out his phone, and extra headphones, and plugged them in. He went to his music and started listening. It was on low so he could hear if somebody said something, but he hoped not really. It occurred to him where they were going. He hated the place. Alex looked at what he could make out of his sister's reflection, "You okay?" he asked, reaching his hand out and putting it on her shoulder.

_______ As Kawaii's brother began to lead her out she could feel him shaking and wanted nothing more than to comfort him. Knowing that he was as scared as she was comforted her, "Onii-san," she began but his finger hushed her and told her to stay put. Then he disappeared into his room, it took him forever to return or at least it felt that way to Kawaii who could only stand still and wait. So she entered her room and grabbed the bags she had packed when her brother opened the door she turned her head towards him. Turning her head back towards the room she was leaning behind she felt a small pang of sadness pierce her heart.

This had been her room and it was special to her, "Come," the sound of her brothers voice invaded her thoughts.

Whispering an almost audible "Sayonara" she walked past her brother out of the room. And lead the way to the car, looking up at the sky she could see people walking their pets and girls chatting on their phones. 'Oh that's right,' Kawaii thought 'Life still goes on.' And it was still going on all around her the city was still bustling and people wee still living their lives. She knew the world wouldn't stop turning, perhaps it was the shock that had her thinking that it would at least it would jerk slightly.

_______ Kawaii had been in so much of a trance that she'd been inside her mind until she felt her brother slip the bags from her hand. She of course let go and allowed him to put them in the trunk, once she realized she was the one he intended to allow the passenger seat she walked over to it. Usually this kind of thing would excite her but it didn't, it just seemed to be just another part of her day. Just about everything seemed to be 'just another thing she did today' she really couldn't be happy or excited about anything. Opening the door she slid into the car next to her aunt, who seemed to be in a cheerful mood. Kawaii was in a bad mood now and really didn't feel like seeing anyone happy, but she knew it would be mean to be a killjoy. She glanced over at her aunt and noticed the big smile on her face and a sneer appeared on hers. 'How can she smile at a time like this?' she really had to wonder; was she just being strong? Did she know about it before they did? Kawaii jumped a little as the car started and a blast of cold air was thrown onto her face. Winter would be here soon but it was still pretty hot in Florida at this time, she sighed as they began to drive.

_______ As they began to pass many restaurants she felt her stomach rumble she hadn't eaten what she had been preparing. Though she did turn off the stove, she was always conscience about safety. She zoned out as her aunt began to talk to her brother leaning her head back into the seat and losing her eyes. Then she remembered where they were going, it was actually a good thing that she hadn't eaten just yet. The morgue was a place that she'd never been able to visit, but she was sure that she didn't want to go there. But if there was a chance that her parents weren't dead she would want to know. Turning her head to look out of the side window she felt her eyes slipping closed gently. This really wasn't the time to be falling asleep and she knew it. The voice of her brother came faintly "You okay?" one of his heavy hands came up to rest on her shoulder.

"Yeah," her voice came out small and she would have been surprised if he'd actually heard her.

_______ Though soon the car came to an abrupt stop and it jerked Kawaii awake making her lean forward slightly. She looked up and notice that they were at the morgue of course it said 'MORGUE' right above the door. She would hold her brothers hand through the entire thing, she wouldn't be able to do it by herself. Letting herself out of the car she would wait for her brother and walk into the morgue holding on to one of his hands with two of hers. The hallway was long and narrow and the people leading her seemed to walk very slowly. Finally they turning into a room where two bodies lay on steel tables covered. Kawaii could feel her heart race. Squeezing her eyes shut she didn't want to see but she could hear the rustling of covers and the sound of footsteps. Two hands gently pushed her forward and she walked once she came upon the table her eyes opened and there lay her mother and father both blue and breathless. Kawaii fainted.

Alexander heard the faint sound of something coming from his sister's mouth, but couldn't make it out, "I'm sorry, what?" he asked, trying to clarify. Alex's body jolted from the stop, and his head hit the window hard. He squeezed his eyes shut upon impact; pulling his hand from Kawaii's shoulder to his head. "Oww..." he moaned, rubbing his head. He felt something warm, and pulled his hand form his head. Blood. "Freaking fantastic," he muttered, searching around the car. He grabbed a tissue and held it there for a bit until he stopped bleeding. He'd learned that head injuries bleed a lot, but not this one. "Hajime-kun, are you alright?" his aunt asked. Alex nodded, "Stupendous," he replied sarcastically, and slightly angered. He threw the door open, and stood up, holding one hand to his head, and letting the other be occupied by his sister's hands.

Alex sighed, pulling his hand from his head, and rubbing his forehead. "This isn't happening," he said outloud. 'I'm not going to see my parents; cold and lifeless. This can't be right. I'm somebody else' he thought, shaking his head. He shoved the thoughts out of his head. He wasn't going to cry again. He tugging on Kawaii's hand so she would be closer to him. He leaned to the side to kiss her cheek. He could feel her tenseness. "It's okay, Kawaii-chan," he said, comfortingly, "We'll be okay," he assured her. Their aunt scurried out to walk in front of them and talked to the receptionist, whom Alex happily ignored. He didn't want to hear from anybody that had no clue who he was. They say they feel sorry for your loss, but they don't know. They don't know...

Alexander walked into the room, pulling Kawaii closer to him. He let go of her hand, and put his arm carefully around her. He slowly guided her to the two tables. He shuttered slightly when he saw them. So lifeless. He glanced away, feeling Kawaii's body grow heavy in his arms. He realized what was happening just in time to catch her. "Kawaii!" he yelled, in shock, kneeling down, and holding her close to him. Their aunt rushed next to him, "What did you do?" she asked. Alex eyed her, "What did I do? You brought us here. We didn't need do see our dead parents," he shot back at her. The two never really got along. "You're just like your father," she said, spitting the words at him. Alex shrugged, "At least that means I'm not like you," he said, the words cold and hard with hate. She was taken aback.

"You're lucky you have your sister. I wouldn't be opening my home to you," she said. Alex sighed. He didn't really want to live with her. He was going to have to make a choice. His sister, or a happy household with his dad and Ricky. Alex sighed, pulling Kawaii's body closer to him. He closed his eyes, and lowered his lips to her ear, "I don't think we'll live together much longer...' he whispered. It was easier to tell her when she couldn't hear him, "Unless you come with my father," he said. Their aunt crossed her arms, and stormed out of the room. Alex sighed, and a tear fell from his cheek onto Kawaii's arm. He slowly, and carefully picked her up. He glanced at his parents for possibly the last time, turned, and walked out. He walked to the receptionist, "Would you call an ambulance for me?" he asked. The receptionist nodded, no questions asked.

[O o C] Cruddy, but I didn't want you to wait. =/
