The Black Mages (The Skies Above)

I'm not quite sure if I should have posted this in the music forum or gaming under Final Fantasy. Oh well, music won as you can see.

The Black Mages recently came out with a new CD titled "The Skies Above" (which is currently only available in Japan if you were wondering). A lot of people have been giving the cover song, also titled "The Skies Above", a lot of grief. I suppose I can understand why, though.
A) It's in English B) It's sung opera style C) The tune of the song is a rock variation of "Zanarkand" the opening theme of Final Fantasy X

However, despite all that I really like the song. The more I listen to it, the more I like it...and I've listened to it a lot. The lyrics were written for the character of Tidus, and they may very well be why I like this song so much. Anyway guess I took the long route getting to my point but I was just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on the song, or if they've even heard of it. ^_^;
