Hey, guys. You wouldn't know me, but I used to regular the old Gackt thread in '05. 3nodding
It was overrun by absolute nonsense and had to be moved to the Chatterbox. xD
It was in a pretty sad state by the end, so I left.

I'm back on Gaia, and I figured I'd check out the new (not really anymore) official thread.

I wasn't too keen on the G-Man through '06 - '08, but I'm impressed with Setsugekka and figure I'll try to keep up with him again. :3

Welcome back. I'm relatively new to this thread, but I really like it here. I thought it would be all fangirlish, but it's really not, and we seem to have a nice little group at the moment. 3nodding

I think it was really just a brief loss of interest because of his new style. I really held Love Letter against him, because I was used to his albums having a really nice variety of songs instead of all ballads. xD Even Diabolos just didn't do much for me. (Though the images in lyrics booklet are stunning.) Then of course, he kind of disappeared for a while, and the only big songs he came out with were Redemption and Returner. (I don't really feel like Noni Saku Hana no You ni was big, since he didn't plan to release it in the first place.) But wow, he's really been pumping out the music lately. Still no full album, which I almost think he's doing on purpose because he knows he only has to release singles to maintain his fortune and popularity. xD Oh, that Gackt. He's a clever one.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Bunraku turns out. Seems like it's been in production forever. I remember finding out about it in '07 and feeling like '09 was so far away. Now it's come and gone... and still no movie. >.<

As to Bunraku...It'd better come out in the States...because I want to go to the theater and scream "GAKUTOOO~!" Since, you know, that'll be the closest I get to going to a concert of his without going to Japan. emo

Agreed, Mars and Rebirth were pure goodness. 3nodding I feel the same way about Longing.... xD With my luck, my mom happened to walk into the room just as that part was playing, and it was... awkward. I found that Redemption had a really interesting video, too. A lot of Gackt's singles, at least between 2000-2004, had videos that were just kind of... typical, I guess. Like Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto, and Wasurenai kara. But Redemption looked cool. <3

Huh, shows how much attention I pay. I didn't even know he was releasing a full album. xD I guess that's a good thing. That way you get all the recent singles on one CD. So long as you didn't go out and buy all the singles individually.... I'll never understand that.

I never buy singles...unless it's a song I can't live without that isn't on a main album (like Redemption and Mizerable). I find the system of releasing a million singles over the course of a year before we have access to the full album to be really frustrating. Plus, if you bought all the singles, why would you buy the album? It seems unnecessarily redundant. xp

Exactly! @_@ I'm sure there are people who actually do it, people who consider themselves collectors or just can't wait for the full album. I gotta say, it's a pretty good way to squeeze money out of those people. xD I don't think I've ever seen an American artist do it before.

Mizerable would be worth buying, seeing as it has Lapis, Leeca, and Story on it too. I've considered buying Oasis, Secret Garden, or Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto simply because the second tracks on them aren't on any full albums. But then I look at the prices... and I just don't feel like it's worth my money. xP

Since it's a Hollywood movie, it'll definitely be in the American theatres. My only worry is that I'll get screwed over because I'm Canadian. xD

Too bad we have to look forward to seeing him in a movie instead of seeing him in concert. ; . ; That's one thing that's always bothered me. He basically has no intention of doing concerts in North America. I suppose it wouldn't attract enough people for a big celeb like him, but it would be nice. Doesn't help that Muse went corrupt in '05, and that basically ruined our chances of getting his attention. </3

Oh! Umm... I doubt that he'll get dubbed over. I mean, what's the point of the director asking him to be in the movie, you know? And I kind of doubt that he'll be speaking broken English.... to me it seems as though it would be an insult to his intelligence.... Oh alright. I'm reading too much into it. lol

Maybe he might be speaking a bunch of Japanese... even though we all want to hear him speak English and not just small, short, random words that got all "Japanese'd". xD We want full sentences damnit!

Singles and Albums and even if there is an album faced with the same song or a better version of it, I'll buy it. My family wanted to kill me when I bought Nine*Nine by pure luck. That was the main thing I wanted at my trip in J-town two visits ago before my relocation to Texas. >__<

I still lack the ability to own Jesus and Re:Born right now, but I will get them. 3nodding

I have no worries about him being dubbed or anything. As you said, the director hand-picked him. I think he's going to have a significant role to play, so he'll have to speak English. And it's going to be better than in Moon Child... I hope. xDD I don't want to hear any more "Jass a fujfjhjshous ninjassnem in Jepan." = "That's a ******** famous ninja's name in Japan."

I admire your devotion. I'm really cheap, so I avoid buying music as much as possible. xD

The only two single albums I own aren't even Gackt albums. One is Clever Sleazoid, because it was the only thing I could afford at the first Dir en grey show I went to, and you had to have purchased something in order to go meet Die and Toshiya afterwards. xD (Die is an a**, by the way. I've met him twice, and he made me laugh at how arrogant he is both times. Toshiya is really nice, though.)
The other one was Iolite by DuelJewel, simply because I'd had a hard time finding downloads for their stuff in the past and they don't put all of their singles on their full albums.

As for Gackt, I only have full albums - Mars, Rebirth, Crescent, Moon, The Sixth Day, and Diabolos. The Sixth Day was a gift, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it considering it's a compilation album. xD I also have the Red and Blue filmography DVDs. heart
