Good point, he really loved Kami didn't he? I notice a lot of his songs are dedicated to Kami (like U + K, Marmalade *I think*, Black Stone, and possible Vanilla, etc.) But I like a lot of those songs; he puts a lot of heart and emotion into them (and they're really fun to sing along to also!.)

@GrumbleCakes: I kinda get a funny image in my head when I imagine Mana in one of those rediculous dresses chasing around vampire-costume clad Gackt with an MP40.

My friend mentioned Gackt's name one before, and I remembered liking a song of his a while back.
So thus I decided to watch some Youtube vids.

Although I'm not as enthusiastic as other about vk and MM stuff, I prefer his older songs the most. His solo work is unbelievable. (Vanilla= <3)

I think everything that happened to Kami was practically devistating to Gackt ):. I feel horrible for him that he wasn't even aware of this untill after the funeral and everything :

It upsets me, for some reason, when people say that Gackt refused to attend the funeral on purpose. Disregarding his friends, just doesn't sound like something he'd do. I mean, I can see him probably not going to one of his girlfriends' funeral or one of his parent's funeral. . .but unless he's really that sinister (not saying he isn't a bit in his own little way twisted ) I doubt he just said, "Screw Kami!" one day.

And even though that sort of thing doesn't involve music, I personally don't see what more discussion you can make about someone's music. I don't think it's a crime to go off the music topic and talk a bit about other things regarding the artist (that's what they do in a lot of the other official topics). I don't think it should be considered spam and if it is whoever is in charge of this topic or whatever must not like Gackt at all and just did this thread to end to flood of repeat topics (which I wouldn't doubt. )

Actually the thing is, none of the the (ex) members of MM even told Gackt about Kami.

I think somebody had a certain bitterness toward their ex-vocalist :l

Yeah, that is pretty cruel. They probably knew Gackt had some sort of affection for Kami as well. Is this the approriate time to shout "Bastards!" and kick up gravel in a particular person's face?

I remember seeing somewhere people bickering at each other about what the "Kami" meant in Vanilla...some said it was hinting Kami from Malice Mizer, while others said it only meant "God" since Kami means God in Japanese... gonk

I think that the "Kami-sama" in Vanilla is actually referring to "god" rather than Kami from MM. Although it's Gackt and he's nuts, so who knows.

I first heard Gackt's songs years ago, in high school...and didn't like them. Now...*laughs* I'm addicted. I love his solo work more than Malice Mizer though.

I like the songs he sang, from back in Malice Mizer and solo. I haven't heard anything from the new S.K.I.N project he's in, so I don't know about that yet.

I really do find it horrible that no one in the band even tried to contact him :. Some may have their "reasons", but I don't think all 3 of them felt the same way ((unless I've totally pictures Yu~ki wrong .-.')).
And it's always the perfect time to kick gravel in a particular person's face :3.

I think "Kami-sama" in Vanilla is reffering to "god", seeing as that's something said occasionally during sex and whatnot.

I know, I know Kami-sama means "God" in Japanese, but I like to joke around with that. It was all just a stupid yaoi fangirl phenomenon. I think if he were refering to the real Kami, he would have used something more endearing like "Kami-chan." "Sama" just sounds too reverent when refering to a lover unless they had one interesting relationship.

I believe Gackt is planning some tours in Europe and possibly in North America according to Gackt Syndrome, but they said they didn't have many details about it.
