Later, Ifurina. I may still be here <3.
GEMME! *tackles* I would NEVER abandon you guys!!!! I'm trying to find the thread, link me to it so I can bookmark it D: ?

ok, now begins my rant <3!
Well first of all, I was extreamly excited to recieve both albums. It filled me with such joy <3! Though, my experiances with them differed. At the end of MARS I though "this guy, he has such amazing vocals, I love him. I want to listen to it again!" so for days and days, I listened to the album, and I still have it in my cd player frequently. Afetr Diabolos though, my reaction wasn;t the same. It was more of a "that's it?...Gackt..what happened? Alot of songs almost sounded the same!" and I have barley listened to it sence.
First, I'll begin with the MARS album. The first song was a lovely song. As I listened to it, I could just see this lovely blue haze. All different shades of blue overlaying themselfs, it was like a floating feeling. Then it went right into the second song, and I was like "wow. It went from all laid back and pretty straight into this faster song, but it blended so nicley together!". Each track had a different feeling, different mood about it. Every time I listened to each song after that, I would find a new part. The songs seemed to have SO many levels to them, and they were so deep.
Now onto Diabolos. Well, honestly, I can't remember Misty too well... I know it's got no vocals and leads into the second song though. About half way through the album, I turned to my sister and said "is it just me...or does this song sound almost the same as the last one that was on...?!". I felt ALOT of songs sounded the same on that album, which is one thing I DEFFINATLY am not fond of. In reality, the only song I am truley moved by on that album would be "Todokanai...*long a** title*", and it still fails to move me as deeply as his older songs. After the album, I put it back away in it's cd case like "tommorow morning, I'll listen to it on the way to skool. I bet I'll be able to pick up more stuff going on in the song, and I'll appreciate it better.". So in the morning, I tried my hardest to, but couldn;t find that much. I still give it chances, but it doesn't meet my expectations for Gackt.
Wether it's because he's older now, and his voice is becoming less....powerfull from all that smoking, or he just doesn't put as much effort into his music any more...I dunno. I think Gackt should just take a longe long vacation from any work. Give himself a year or so away from everything...but then again, that's just me.
[/rant]

Ah okie smile

Mars is a very good album with a wide variety of songs. But then again, Mars has several good single songs in it as well wink I like almost every song in that ablum and it's probably one of his best. And yea you did make a good point about the overall arrangement of the songs, but that is assuming that people listen to the tracks continuously razz As for Diabolos, his songs in that album has a lesser variety but his voice kind of got stronger, and I don't see why is that a bad thing?

Gackt songs never moved me emotionally. I admit that 'Todokanai Ai to Shitteita No Ni Osaekirezu ni Aishitsuzuketa...' is my favourite mainly because Gackt sounded incredibly sexy there lol Okie and I really do love that vocal heart
to tohma's rant: I totally agree with you. Mars will always be my favorite Gackt album because it is just so beautiful. Each song flows well to the next and changes tempo and dynamics so wonderfully that it keeps your attention throughout the album and keeps you begging for more. My fav song from there, btw, is Kono Daremo Inai Heya De because when I first saw that live I nearly cried when he sang a capella and had the digitally-included-audience singing along with him. But ever since Love Letter, he's kinda lost my interest... I mean, Diabolos was a pretty nice rocky comeback, but just not the same. And yes, all the songs on there do sound pretty much the same which drives me nuts >.<

I'm done now mrgreen
Ifurina, I myself thought his voice was weaker, but to each their own, ne ^^?
Yaoikitty, I agree. Diabolos is a great comeback <3! It just doesn;t seem to compare to MARS well is all. For me, that is.
Hey, can anyone help me find the old thread? Send me the link if you will. Thanks! 3nodding

I don't unfortuately as I have never been a fan of Malice Mizer. Did you guys like Gackt since his Malice Mizer days? You guys must have been fans for a really long time. Malice Mizer and X Japan were one of the first few visual kei bands I was introduced to in the 90s. But I was too young at that time to be able to appreciate any good rock music and their loud image put me off, so I didn't start listening to jrock until much later. And by that time Gackt was already long out of Malice Mizer. I admit Im not really a true fangirl of Gackt, I just love his good looks (or should I say image), his sexy voice *drools* and some of his songs lol

How bout you guys then? When did you first heard of/became a fan of Gackt?
imyme_moi
I wouldn't say that I'm a big fan of Gackt's...just a normal fan. Most of the songs I like by him now, I disliked at first. I mean, Mizerable and Vanilla were the first songs I heard by him and I didn't really like them that much when I first heard them. Then, a few years later, my brother e-mailed me telling me of this "awesome" song he heard on MySpace called Mizerable. I instantly remembered that song and how iffy I thought it was. Anyway, my brother forced me to listen to it, and when I heard it again, I thought it was actually a pretty nice song. Nothing spectacular or anything. Simply nice. Out of boredom, I listened to other stuff by this Gackt guy and I heard some other nice songs by him...but I really didn't start liking him until after I heard Lust for Blood and Nine Spiral. After that, I found myself listening to his music regularly...

Esh! I write too much... So, in short! Gackt=Yayz!

Oh and hi imyme smile Sorry I missed your post.

It got thrown in the chatterbox I assume due to people getting severely off-topic.
Perhaps because it was filled with chatter (SPAM)? This is going to be a thread dedicated to the discussion of music, and I'm going to keep it that way. The other thread still exists for chatter, it's just in a forum that's more in line with the actions of most of the regulars who frequented it. Let's stop talking about the other thread, and use this one for the purpose delineated in the first page.

I blame those gackt haters, and some other ppl
Hi. Let's stop complaining about what has been done, and get back to music, shall we?

What would you attribute to the division in the fanbase between those who followed Gackt's career from Malice Mizer and onward faithfully and those who expressed disillusionment with his more recent releases? Any thoughts?
i know nothing.

I'm not quite sure. Was it his image or his actual character? A lot of people say Malice Mizer was a big joke when Gackt entered the scene and changed their image and music around. But then again, a lot of other people liked it. I liked Gackt in Malice Mizer and I kept following him thorugh his solo work. I guess I was one of those people that became alienated after he started releasing those ballads.

For someone who adores sugary sweet princess pop music, I've no idea why I wasn't really feeling his newer style with a those love songs. And even now that he's gone back into a more rock-influnced style, I find him and his music to be quite boring now. I think part of this is due to the fact that rock and rock-based music was never my favorite kind of music, but is it just me, or does his music seem kind of bland now?
