Fun bit of information for 己龍 Kiryu's upcoming single . As the main theme surrounding 己龍 Kiryu's music is Japanese horror, the surrounding theme for the latest single is that of the Sengoku Era. Also called the "Warring States period" it was a time of social upheaval, political intrigue, and nearly constant military conflict that lasted approximately from the middle of the 15th century to the beginning of the 17th century.
For those who have seen the PV for
http://youtu.be/OM2XYuys0yg[/youtube] 灯 (Tomoshibi), you may have noticed an emblem, or "mon" on the flags in the background. This, I believe, is the Hidari mitsudomoe, which was once the emblem or 'family crest' of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
This is A LOT of history surrounding this emblem (as is the same with many, MANY others). I'm just excited that my favorite band makes it a point to not only surround their music and look with Japanese horror folklore, they also bring in the history of their own country. I mean, how many singers/bands do that?
