Oh man, Spirited Away. Miyazaki did wonderful, and have you ever noticed how amazing the food is drawn? It's gorgeous! Not only that, but the little stone statue outside the gate, right by their car. That gave me CHILLS, and not because I'm terrified of statues. At the beginning, you can easily see the features on its face. At the end, the features have eroded away. It takes SO MANY YEARS for that to happen, which made me think that Chihiro's trip to the spirit world was kind of like how that fisherman saved a turtle and went down to the palace of the dragon god and then, when he came back to the human world, found out that centuries had passed while he thought that it was only a few days.

That exactly why I love Miyazaki! His attention to details is by far the best! Nobody is on par to Miyazaki's skill. Every single thing in his films are so intricate! You would think something so trivial like food wouldn't matter but the way he does it makes a whole lot of difference. When you watch a film of his you know exactly that it's his film. You can't help but appreciate the amount of work that goes into his films.
Miyazaki does some really great movies. Spirited Away is in my top five for his movies. I also enjoyed Naausica, Kiki's Delivery service, Ponyo, and another one I can't seem to remember for some silly reason. He has a great art style, good stories that strike the viewer in different ways and forces them to watch stories that never lack great composure.

All I really mean is, I love his work a lot. heart

I know exactly what you mean! He is a great visionary in the film industry! He does such good work and his stores are always captivating. My personal favorites aside from Spirited away are Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Naausica. But seriously all his movies are great. It's hard to pick just one movie as my all time favorite.
Thank you! His style of anime is really unique, but so simple. It helps define his work well.

Did he do Castle in the Sky? I always wanted to watch that one.

You're so right, his artistic style is so simple and pleasant.

He did Howls Moving Castle and I'm pretty sure he did Castle in the Sky as well. It looks like his work.

Yes, it is his, according to IMDb. This movie just made me so happy as a child and I have no idea why.

Exactly! His stories appeal to any age. I like his movies now for different reasons then when I was a kid. I think I've learned to appreciate his movies more now that I'm older.

When I go back and watch old movies I loved when I was little, I seem to remember them differently from what they actually are. I think that shows growth and imagination in a person. But you also tend to understand more of the character pieces the older you get. When I rewatched the Lion King, there was a conversation between Scar and Mufasa that was hilarious and I don't know how I missed such a thing.

In Miyazaki's works that I watched when I was little, the one thing that connects what I remember to what I would rewatch now would be the happiness. His animations tend to consist of bringing magic into the home.
i like all of the movies by hayao!! xd They are so awesome!! cool

Why does this thread have down-votes? =( [/edit]

I like the scene where Chihiro runs down the stairs of the bathhouse and nearly slams into the wall, so humourous.

Also the iconic scene where she and No-Face are on the train to see Zaneba, made me feel mellow.

I consider Spirited Away to be an excellent classic in animation =^-^=

It's true, as a child we tend to miss the subtle things that make a movie memorable. As adults I think we can truly connect with the characters on a personal whereas a child we just seem to connect with the simple things like catchy songs. But Miyazaki's films have this sense of happiness that translates to anyone in any age.

I agree it! It's such a classic film and you can see the detail and work that goes into every scene, it just makes you appreciate his films even more.

The train ride scene is definitely a pivotal moment in the film where it ushers in a new sense of hope in an otherwise hopeless situation but does so subtly.
