Un Chien Andalou is probably my fav indie film (if it even is one). Created by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel(sp?)

I love surreal films

I just watched this film for one of my art history classes. There are a lot of things I liked about it and some I just couldn't get past like slicing the eyeball in the opening seen eek . But over all I did think it was a very interesting film that certainly made me think.

Me you and everyone we know and The Squid and the Whale are both very good. Makes me want to watch the rest you mention.
The movie Jump Tomorrow sent me into fits of giggles, and - I'm not sure how obscure this actually is - Better Off Dead is a classic.
I saw Let the Right One In, really liked it. I hated that it was dubbed though. I'd rather read subtitles peronally.
Great vampire movie!
Eh, I go more for obscure horror movies, like Salo, Cannibal Holocaust, or Anthrophagus

Great vampire movie!

Luckily here in the UK they released the subbed version, they did it before the US dubbed it which I find funny really.
I've seen The Wackness! a little slow for me, but I ended up loving it. the therapist is awesome.
Secretary and Teeth are HILARIOUS dark comedies that I'm glad you mentioned.
Liverpudlian
The Man Who Laughs - old black and white film that I found amazing. The dog was named 'Homo'. Awesome.

[ sort of lesser known - or lesser appreciated ] Everything is Illuminated

The Wall

WHAT? Everything is Illuminated is EXTREMELY well known and appreciated! I don't know what planet you're living on.
The Science of Sleep is an interesting little movie. In subtitles, but very good.
Most of my obscure favorites are Jean Rollin's vampire films, Valerie and her Week of Wonders, Daughters of Darkness, Baba Yaga, Radley Metzger's Score, Virgin Among the Living Dead, The Frightened Woman, Story of O, Fruits of Passion, Girl Slaves of Morgana Le Fay, Lisa and the Devil... well some of these probably aren't incredibly obscure anymore, but I wouldn't consider most of them to be mainstream favorites either.
Destination moon. It may have won an acadamy award, but doesn't get a lot of attention.

Old Boy isn't necessarily indie, but it's masterfully done.
