BBC's Sherlock is a fabulous show--always glad to see others loving it! I think one great thing about it is that it inspires fans to read the original ACD canon--even though he himself hated Sherlock Holmes, it's an important part of the literary canon, and very, very entertaining! As for the show, can we just talk about the effort put into this program? The lighting is fabulous, in the "caring is not an advantage" scene, for example. The writing, acting, ugh, EVERYTHING. So good.
I don't really understand the hate for Blind Banker? Did anyone else enjoy that story?

I think as a whole the second series was stronger, for a few reasons. They definitely found more of their own rhythm this season, but also focused on more well known Sherlock Holmes stories
(IA, the Hound, and the Fall). We got to see a greater relationship on all parts, as well, not just between John and Sherlock, but between our side characters.

Since the series has started it's truly inspired me to read the original books, which I'd only heard of before seeing the show. Everything about the show is incredible. The acting is superb, the lighting and cinematography is insanely well done.
As for the "Caring is not an advantage scene", that was like cinematic porn to me! gonk It was so incredibly well done it's not even funny crying heart There's that scene, and then the one with Sherlock inspecting the sneakers in the same episode I believe. Shooting that through that small, square pane of glass...genius heart

As for the Blind Banker, I myself am not particularly fond of that episode. While I don't think the acting, cinematography, light, etc. are not as good, worse,etc , I think the amount of dialog needed to keep the audience in tune with everything that's going on is what made it...not as good as the others. In the other episodes, the audience doesn't need everything explained to them because they know and understand what's going on. With the Blind Banker, there was so much going on it leaned towards almost convoluted. confused

And I whole-heartedly agree about the second season. I loved the fact that we got to learn more about the secondary characters, and that we got to see a softer side to Sherlock. It was needed after the first season, where we got a great idea of how cold and calculating he can be. 3nodding

Do you have any theories about how Sherlock faked his death? If so, I'd like very much to hear them. My personal favorite is that the Ironman swooped up and saved Sherlock because Robert Downey Jr. Is also Sherlock and Sherlocks must stick together.

I'm a JohnLock shipper as well, so me gusta cool
I'm in love with that theory...Iron Man heart But to get down to business, I think it was a combination of 3 things that helped Sherlock survive the fall.
1) A squash ball - or two.
2) Molly Hooper
3) Rhododendron Ponticum

Sherlock used the squash ball, put under his armpit, to block off any sign of pulse in his wrist(s).
Molly Hooper helped in hiding him/his 'body', etc.
And the Rhododendron Ponticum was used because some of its effects, such as extremely slow heartbeat, death-like state, helped in having it look as if Sherlock really and truly was dead.

I just watched a few scenes from TBB again, and I can definitely understand your comment about the dialogue! I really hadn't even noticed before!
And seeing a softer side to Sherlock was definitely great--especially towards Mrs. Hudson, but also with John. One of my favorite things that someone pointed out on tumblr is how when he compliments John, they are all words John used to describe him, and it's like they are the only kind words he knows to use, which is simultaneously sad and lovely. smile

In TBB, the massive amount of dialog was the first thing I noticed. I wasn't particularly pleased with that, but yeah. Plus that episode wasn't too humorous, which also gives it a drastically different vibe. The rest of Season 1 and 2 have humor interspersed throughout, alleviating the tension, drama, etc. TBB didn't, which was a bit.. I dunno...meh.
I saw the same post on Tumblr as well! rofl And I completely agree. While it's sweet to watch Sherlock use the same words John used to describe him, it's also so sad..those words possibly being the only positive ones he's heard in a long, long time sad

So god knows how long it'll take 'em to finish shooting that. And if they're going to put in as much effort as they did for the second season, if not more...it's gonna be that long a wait.
In my opinion, they should at least give the fans something for being that patient. Add to John's Blog, or do something with Sherlock's website..or Molly Hooper's blog, ya know? confused

Honestly, the way I feel about it is that good things come to those who wait. And Sherlock is beyond good, it's like manna from heaven :p
And as for protesting or something, I'm sure both Gatiss and Moffat have received more than an earful of that from the fandom. And you have to remember, Moffat is also the head writer for the newest installment of Dr. Who, and that's got a ginormous following as well. So in one sense, he's trying to please both fandoms pretty much at the same time confused
Also, Benedict and Martin have other projects to complete...they're not just in Sherlock :p Martin's doing The Hobbit and Benedict's busy starring in the newest Star Trek movie, so yeah 3nodding

Yeah, I feel like if they rush it and post regular episodes of Sherlock they won't be as good. Moffat himself said that the episodes are like feature films, and films take a long time to polish. It is better, although painful, if they release them when they feel the films are the same quality as the episodes already out, if not even more amazing.
I am almost certain when the new episodes come out there will be an even bigger cliffhanger, but at least we'll get Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in their full blown glory. Hell, maybe we'll have the 12th Doctor by then.
I also can kind of understand now why Godtiss made the episodes so darn beautiful and full of little references from the original series, during the hiatus the fandom has so much to analyze. (In the Christmas scene, Sherlock is looking at John's blog "You have a picture of me wearing THAT HAT?" "People like the hat" "No they don't, what people?" "I re-set the counter last night" and then you see the number of views on John's blog which also happens to be the year when the original Sherlock Holmes was the most active in crime solving. How thought out, no?)
I'm starting to ramble so I'm going to go back to tumblr with my ice-cream and maybe then I'll go and re-watch this brilliant series for the 6th time. Point is, I will go down with this show, so bring on the hiatuses and theories, Godtiss. I and the fandom are ready for them.
