It's kind of an inaccurate comparison.

I've given both a try, and I find Boys Over Flowers most appealing to me. However, that's only because one is more modern. I mean, when I watched it I was thinking about how hideous their clothes and hair are, and how strange the city was.

My aunt, who was a teenager when Meteor Garden first came out, remembered fawning over it and thinking how hot the guys were and everything. And she just made fun of the new cast and saying how magical the original cast was.

Really, all it comes down to is how much appeal teens find in the performance. Modern teens will most likely have more difficulty connecting to something from decades ago, compared to something more current.

........ However, my aunt did point out that the main guy character of the new cast looks a lot like the main guy character of the original cast, and I completely agree. Coincidence...? ._.

I can't really compare them. They both had something the other didn't. Boys Over Flowers was by far "prettier" (got nothing on my Vic... simply drool worthy sweatdrop ). But Meteor Garden was more gritty. That show was all about the drama. Plus, when they kissed... THEY FLIPPIN KISSED! None of this stiff lipped bull.

Just like Boys Before Flowers and Hana Yori Dango the story line is the same but Meteor Garden is from the republic of China (Taiwan). Which means it's in Mandarin or also known as Taiwanese. Other then the fact that it is from 2001 it is a good drama.

Would anyone vouch for Meteor Garden?

I like Boys Before Flowers (I'm watching it now),
but I don't like Jan Di's character. It's not good enough for
me to get past the fact that all of three amazing guys have fallen
for her in under a year. Even her friend Ga Eul is cooler than she is
by my count so far, and she's barely appeared at all in comparison.
Jan Di's so self-involved, yet acts like a martyr...? x];

So if anyone thinks Meteor Garden's leading girl was given a slightly
better spin, then I'd be interested in watching it. :]

I guess because Meteor Garden was my first Taiwanese drama, I am still loyal to it but I would not watch it again. Boys over Flowers on the other hand, I would.

All of the F4 boys are eye candy. Regardless of where they came from.

I love the fact that they made SoEul bigger than it was in Meteror Garden with Rainie and Ken. I love their relationship more than the main one.
