M*A*S*H Goodbye, Farewell and Amen will always be my favourite series finale. It still makes me tear up. Kids In The Hall was another series that ended perfectly.
The most recent finale ending that was really disappointing was Community. The creative differences with the cast and crew were shining through in the last season, but the last episode could have been so much better.
okay all I can think of are series finales but the worst for me was probably Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. It was cancelled and the season it left off on had a ridiculously huge cliffhanger. Apparently they're making an animated movie to wrap things up but that just kind of sucks.
For me I would have to say the worst season finale would be JAG season 1 season finale
The ending gave you no insight into what happens. The main character (Harm) is the main suspect in a rape and murder case and the episode ends with him getting into the NCIS agents car. Then the start of the second season does pick up at that point and it gives no real reason for why he gets a new partner.
I know why it was so bad tho and that's because they switched channels and the ending was suppose to be 2 parts but they never made the second part and during the switch not all the actors returned.
The other worst season finale would be Veronica Mars season 3
Her father is trying to run for sheriff and at the end she puts her vote in for her father and it shows her walking away. We never know who wins and the show was canceled so season 4 didn't shine any light
The best season finale is NCIS season 2
What can I say Kate dies. That ending was so unexpected and shocking that it def makes its way to the top.
and Rizzoli and Isles season 1
The building is taking hostage and near the end Jane is trying to save her brother while a shooter comes in and takes Jane outside so he can escape. While hes forcing Jane down the stairs and to a car she is screaming to the other cops to shot them and shes also telling them that her brother needs help. Then her kidnapper screams at her telling her that her brother is probably already dead. Having said that Jane manages to take control of the gun and shoots herself to kill him. Ends with her falling on the ground and Maura running outside right as she shoots her self. Intense episode
