i really like bands like diiv which is heavily influenced by shoegaze check them out if u haven't heard of them, the lead singer is the bassist of beach fossils and him and sky ferreira are the cutest couple! heart

shoegaze (and dream pop) essentials (besides MBV) would include:
Slowdive (Souvlaki in particular)
The Jesus and Mary Chain (Psychocandy in particular)
Cocteau Twins (I'd recommend Blue Bell Knoll, most people like Heaven or Las Vegas)
Galaxie 500 (On Fire is what most people recommend)
A lot of other people would recommend stuff like Ride and Lush as well but I'm not a fan
Other recommendations I have:
Lovesliescrushing - Bloweyelashwish
Deerhunter - Microcastle
Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (it's blackgaze but it's also great)
also if you enjoy shoegaze you'd probably like neoclassical darkwave of which I'd recommend:

I'm still pretty new to the genre myself but I'm really into Whirr, Candy Claws, Diiv and Melody's Echo Chamber.

unrelated but I really liked Title Fight's album Hyperview, had a beautiful punk-gaze kind of style to it.

Whirr is awesome, even though they're buttheads sometimes xd . I really like Nothing, too (they're buddies).

Does anyone like Ovlov? They recently broke up, but they were signed to Exploding in Sound.

Title Fight has an occasional shoegaze sound going for them, their newest song is super lush. Most of their stuff is more like underground punk screamo stuff.
