I listen to bands like escape the fate... Falling in reverse, Silverstein, green day, ect.

A lot of people are saying don't listen to those bands. If you like it listen to it. You're music tastes will naturally develop and change anyway with the more music you listen to. Give those bands they told you a try. Eventually you might like them, or like them immediately, or never like them. Its a personal thing and liking those bands or not does not mean that you can't listen to the bands you've listed.

Dead Weather, Talking Heads, You Am I (some of it anyway) , Sonic Youth, Bjork, Butthole Surfers, Hoodoo Gurus, Radiohead, Spiderbait, Birthday Party/ Boys Next Door (same band different name), British India, Elastica, The Hives, Kaiser Chiefs, Pulp, Sleater Kinney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, My Morning Jacket ....
