Though personally my blood would go North of the Wall if I happened to see a guy leisurely carrying a damn assault rifle. I saw the title and thought of some ye olde hunting rifle, carried on the back.

Assault Rifle : any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles with large capacity magazines designed for military use.

Assault Weapon : any of various automatic or semiautomatic firearms designed for civilian or military use.

An Assault Rifle is an Assault Weapon, but an Assault Weapon is not necessarily an Assault Rifle unless it's designed for military use, and of course it meets the other conditions.

The fact is, that just about any weapon out there can be fit into that very open definition for an Assault Weapon, and there is another issue. No gun control law that has been passed anywhere has ever lowered violent crimes. In America, where criminals get easy access to guns illegally, care of an open border with Mexico which the liberals don't want to even try to secure, each gun control law leads not only to higher violent crime rates in general, but also higher gun crime rates and gun homicide rates. Just look at Chicago.

To be honest, vets probably shouldn't be armed.

WTF is wrong with you?
9 years of my life given to my country so shits like you can say I should be denied the rights other citizens get to have?
SCREW YOU!

(and yes, I'm offended at your ignorant asinine attitude - just in case you couldn't tell)
How would you feel if people started taking away your rights simply because you are NOT a vet?

You Didn't give your life to this country, you gave it to oil companies

Given that I served during the 80s and world events were different then your statement is largely fallacious. I spent most of my time in the East and some in the Mediterranean and Africa. But even if it were 100% true how would that justify taking away my right to carry a gun while letting people who did not serve in the military carry a gun?

So I take that back. You didn't serve for oil, you served for defense contractors. Being in ground forces is not that glorifying. It is a job that is not only blue collar, but is rapidly being replaced by air warfare. In chess, the most common piece is the pawn. What justifies it is that a lot of soldiers do have PTSD, many of them hidden up until they commit a crime or end their lives. Personally I don't have trusty in anyone. So the only person in the world that I want armed is me.

What does your view on the war have to do with anything?
These are people who selflessly put their lives on the line & you want to take away the 2nd amendment rights that other citizens practice. Really nice.

Selfless maybe, but the act of being a foot soldier is nowhere near as honorable or commemorable as the officer.
