The acting agency and theater company Seinenza announced on Friday that stage actor and voice actor Tomoyuki Dan passed away on Thursday, October 10 at 11:49 p.m. in his home due to recurring aortic dissection. He was 50.

The actor was born under the name Yoshio Tanaka in Osaka on August 6, 1963. He joined Seinenza in 1987 and began a long career in stage productions. He also appeared in such films as Madadayo, the final film from acclaimed director Akira Kurosawa, and he played Shinkurō Isaka in Kamen Rider W.

Dan was arguably best known inside and outside Japan for voice-acting work in both Japanese dubs of foreign films and anime projects. He dubbed Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman character in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. He also played Cronicle Asher in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, Kisame Hoshigaki in Naruto Shippūden, Orihara-sensei in Air Gear, and Minami in La Corda D'Oro - primo passo.

Among his final roles this year were Ishikawa in Ghost in the Shell Arise and Kōjirō Honda in il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion.
